Obituary for Lujan

Lucinda (Cindy) Duncan Lujan, a resident of Albuquerque, passed into her heavenly home on June 26, 2001. She was born to Lydia and Nathaniel Duncan in Stillwell, OK on November 8, 1917. Mrs. Lujan is survived by her sister, Beulah Duncan Paisano and husband, U.G.; sister-in-law, Julie Poncho of Richmond, CA; nieces, Merle-Dean Paisano Sanchez and husband, Joseph and Cheryl Jean Paisano; nephew, Evans Ray; great-niece and goddaughter, DAnza Sanchez Mummert and husband, Ryan, all of Albuquerque; and great-nephew, Dr. Damion P. Sanchez of Seattle, WA. She is also survived by her loving canine companion, Pug. Mrs. Lujan was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of 46 years, Paul Lujan; and her sister, Marquerite Duncan Ray. In 1925 the family of Mrs. Lujan moved from Oklahoma to Clovis, NM. In 1932 she and her family moved to Albuquerque. Mrs. Lujan attended the Albuquerque Indian School. She graduated from the Sherman Indian Institute in Riverside, CA. Mrs. Lujan was employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She served as the head cook and dietician at the Albuquerque Indian School until her retirement in 1973. Mrs. Lujan was a member of the Albuquerque Cherokee Club. She was a Christian lady who deeply loved the Lord Jesus Christ. Mrs. Lujan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Albuquerque. Services will be held Thursday, 2:00 p.m., at Chester T. French Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, 924 Menaul NE, with Rev. Tom Collins officiating. Entombment will follow. Pallbearers will be Ulysses G. Paisano, Joseph P. Sanchez, Evans Ray, Ryan Mummert, Bob Leach and Ralph Nieto. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Damion P. Sanchez, Wilbur Hunt, and Dennie Nieto. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Kaseman Hospice for the special loving care they gave to our dear Cindy and our family during these last few days.
