Obituary for Boren

Joe Sam Boren, 84, passed away Monday, June 25, 2001. He is survived by his loving wife, Emily Boren; daughter, Linda G. Boren; son, Sam J. Boren and wife, Dorothy; grandchildren, Sam Christopher Boren and wife, Michele and Stacy Mitchell and husband, Miles; and great-grandchildren, Christopher and Cassie Boren and Chance Mitchell. Sam was born May 14, 1917 to Willie and Thena Corley Boren in Paris, TX. Sam moved to Albuquerque in 1936 and was employed by The Oden Motor Co. He married Emily in 1939. In 1945, he started his own business on East Central Avenue and was a very successful tire dealer and was respected for his honesty and integrity. Sam was a member of Central United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was past member of 20-30 Club, the optimist Club and Better Business Bureau. Sam volunteered his help in many civic projects. He will be missed. Services will be held Thursday, June 28, 2001, 10:00 a.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper Ave. NE, with Rev. Marty Singleterry officiating. Entombment will follow at Chester T. French Mausoleum, 924 Menaul NE. French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE.
