Obituary for Edwards

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday July 17, 2001

Paul L. Edwards was called home to his maker Sunday, July 15, 2001. Paul enriched every life he came in contact with. His contagious laugh, sharp sense of humor, willingness to lend a hand, and his generous heart, are just a few of the qualities that he possessed. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, stepfather, brother, uncle, grandfather, and true friend to the end. Paul was ťone of a kind. He will be forever missed. Paul was born September 9, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He received his education in Cedar Rapids. He enlisted and proudly served his country in the U.S Army. Paul became a master carpenter and worked throughout Washington and Oregon State. He was a member of the BPOE Elks Club in Olympia, Washington for 26 years. His meticulous craftsmanship and expertise came as a talent and hobby for him rather than a job. His passion for carpentry relocated him to Las Vegas, NM., where he would meet his true love and soul mate, Connie Tafoya. They were united in marriage December 14, 1985. Albuquerque would become their home. He was a member of the American Legion Post 99 in Albuquerque. He retired from Klinger Construction in 1996, he then was contracted through Brent Templeton and Southwest Builders shortly before the time of his death. To this day Paul and Connie were like newlyweds, with bright sparkles in their eyes. Their hearts overflowing with love! Their passion and wit was contagious! You could not leave their home without a smile on your face and saying to yourself, God is good! His love for his children was unconditional. He embraced his stepchildren as his own, and his stepson as the son he never had. Grandpa Paul was loved dearly by all his grandchildren. There was never a dull moment with grandpa Paul! Paul was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Alice Edwards and brothers Donald and Earl Edwards. He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Connie Edwards; daughters Shawn Hoage and companion Brent and Michelle Edwards all of Olympia, Washington, Kathy Vittetoe and husband Larry of Lisbon, Iowa; step-daughters Debbie Pajak and husband Dan of Mesa, Arizona, Loretta Montoya and husband, Bobby, and Christine Tafoya and fiancé Martin Duran all of Las Vegas, NM., Martha Beiser and husband Doug of Fountain Valley, California; one stepson Larry A.
