Obituary for Smart

JoVita Joy Smart, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, died on Monday, June 18, 2001. She is survived by her step-son, William H. Smart, Jr. and wife, Beverly of Garland, TX; sisters, Alva Jo Grant of Peoria, AZ and Verna Lee Glover and husband, Howard of San Antonio, TX; grandsons, Scott Smart and Craig Smart; nieces, Katherine Francis, Janelle Hunt, Margaret Vickers and Barbara Kay Jackson and nephews, David Blundell and Larren Glover. JoVita was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Smart and grandson, Keith Smart. She was a resident at the Meadows where she had served on the board of directors. JoVita was a member of the Montgomery Church of Christ. Jo Vita will be remembered as a unique person who knew how to put kindness into words and caring into action. She was not a copy of anyone else on earth. She was an original who shared with us her many special gifts. She created beauty with the stroke of a paintbrush and her many other artistic talents. She was an inspiration to all. She loved life, and lived it to the fullest even though she was physically challenged. She leaves us with a treasure of happy memories. Services will be held on Friday, June 22, 2001, 10:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd N.E. with Charles Lindsey, officiating. Interment will be in Barstow, California. Friends may visit on Thursday, June 21, 2001 from 3:00p.m. -8:00p.m. at French Mortuary, Wyoming Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Albuquerque Christian Childrens Home, 5700 Winter Haven NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120.
