Crawford E. Grover, 80, passed away June 17, 2001, following a short illness. He is survived by Paul B. Torres, who shared many years of his life. The family and Mr. Grover have been blessed by the comfort and devoted care given by Mr. Torres during the illness. Mr. Grover was preceded in death by his father, Ted Grover of Kansas, by his mother, Amy Brown Grover of Albuquerque, and Santa Fe, NM, and by his brother, Carlos Grover of White River Jct, VT. He is also survived by a son, David E. Hankins and wife, Sally of Albuquerque and their children, Christopher and Tara of Denver, CO; by a daughter, Cassandra "Kitti" Hankins and her fiance, Frederick C. Harmon IV, by her children, Aaron G. Switzer, Rachel A. Grant and husband, Derick and great-grandchildren, Tanalynn, Kayleigh, Richard and Zachary. Also by many nieces, nephews, aunts, friends and special friend (Joanna). Mr. Grover served in the Army during WWII. Later he was employed by the Zia Co., Los Alamos, NM, Sandia Corp and Corp of Engineers, in Albuquerque, NM, he also served as Judge for the American Rose Society. He once explained his view of leaving this life with a simple explanation using the name of his granddaughters, "It's like we watch Rachel get in her car and start to drive down the road. Soon she will disappear over the horizon. We won't see her, but she is still the same, and continuous to driver her car." Though our view has changed, the journey is the same. The car, with our loved one, is still going down the road. So, Crawford, Dale, Pop's, Daddy, Bop-bop, Uncle, Friend we wish you a great journey. God's speed. Special loving thanks to Dr. Henry, Crossroads Hospice, Nurse Catherine, dedicated and devoted caregivers. We love you Daddy. A Memorial Service with Mrs. Carmen Van Ness Templeton C.S. officiating will be held Wednesday, June 20, 2001 in the Fern Chapel of Strong-Thorne Mortuary, 1100 Coal Ave SE. (842-8800)
