Obituary for Griego

Juan Jose Griego, 72, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother was called home to be with the Lord, Thursday, August 2, 2001 while surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Griego was born in San Luis, NM and was a resident of Corrales; he was a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church; a proud Veteran of the United States Army who served his country during World War II; he was a member of the American Legion Post 69. Juan retired from the University of New Mexico South Golf Course after 25 years of loyal service; he enjoyed riding his horses and especially spending time with his family. Mr. Griego is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Oralia Griego of the family home; two daughters, Theresa Montano, Lorraine Armijo and husband Daniel of Alameda; two sons, Adam Griego and wife Rebecca, Patrick Griego; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister Lorretta Oguine. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who loved and knew him. Visitations will be Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary. A Rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. also in the chapel. Mass of Christian will be celebrated Monday morning at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, with the Reverend Ronald Stone as celebrant. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 69 Honor Guard. Casket bearers will be Patrick Griego, Adam Griego, Johnny Montano, Johnathan Montano, Gabriel Griego and Ralph Padilla. Honorary bearer will be Daniel Aramijo. Funeral services are entrusted to Alameda Mortuary, 9420 Fourth St., NW, 898-3160
