Obituary for Smith

Herbert H. "Smitty" Smith, 84, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, August 30, 2001. His wife of 55 years, Edith S. Smith, died Tuesday, September 4, 2001. He is survived by his sons, Richard A. Smith and wife, Carolyn of Scottsdale, AZ and Herb H. Smith Jr. and wife, Charlotte of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Rachelle A. Smith, Regan A. Smith and Loren A. Smith; brother, Melvin Smith and wife, Marge, and Jim Smith and wife, Dori, all of Moriarty, NM; and sister, Josie Lancaster and husband, Bob of Bend, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Erba; infant daughter, Brenda; three sisters, La Verta, Margie and Wanda. Mr. Smith served his country in the US Army during WWII and was a Prisoner of War in the Philippines. Services will be held Friday, September 7, 2001, at 10:30 a.m., at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 811 Guaymas Place NE. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd.
