Elva Ortiz, 59, passed away September 1, 2001. She was Native New Mexican of Cebolla, and resided in Albuquerque for the past 40 years. Her first love was her three daughters Darlene, Brenda, and Iris. She had a passion for life, and her gift was being able to make anything grow. Elva was very knowledgeable, outspoken, eager to help, and active in the San Jose Community. She is survived by her daughters; Darlene Ortiz, Brenda Rivera, and Iris Ortiz; 5 grandchildren, Iris Gonzales and husband Steve, Raymond, Brandi, Sierra, and Mark; 4 brothers Juan Ortiz and wife Maria Elena, Agapito Ortiz and wife Sandra, Fidel Ortiz and wife Faustina, and Octaviano Ortiz; 4 sisters Aurelia Vigil, Estefanita Thomas and husband Tom, Conchita Padilla, and Eutimia Pena; special friends Evelyn Lujan and Elvita, numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who loved and will miss her. A visitation will be held in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St NW, on Wednesday, September 5, 2001 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm followed by a rosary at San Jose Parish at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Chapel on Thursday, September 6, 2001 at 10:00 am, with Pastor Chip Lusko officiating. The burial will follow.
