Obituary for Cardella

Anthony G. Cardella died at home Sunday, June 10, after a long illness. He was born November 14, 1913 in Omaha, Nebraska. As a first generation American, he was fiercely patriotic, serving in the U.S. Army in WWII"the big one", and in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the DAV, VFW and American Legion, as well as Edelweiss AM Rio Grande. He was preceded in death by a son, Timothy. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lucille; his daughter, Antonia (TJ) and husband, Maclean Zehler of Albuquerque; his son, Richard and wife, Sylvia Cardella of Hydesville, CA; two grandsons, Damian and wife, Laura Drago of Burbank, CA. and Christopher Bretz of Montesano, WA.; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Dad was like a force of nature-remember him dancing! Services will be held Friday, June 15, 2001 at 1:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald and Sons, 3113 Carlisle NE. Private internment will follow at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery. There will be a gathering to celebrate Dad's life at Edelweiss, 4821 Menaul NE following the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers,the family requests donations to the Animal Humane Assoc. in honor of Dad's,"little lady" cat, Frankie, or to the American Cancer Society.
