Obituary for Watkins

Reverend Mary Watkins, a minister of the gospel for 65 years, died on Wednesday, October 3, 2001 in San Antonio, TX at age 82. She and her husband Rev. W.F. Watkins were the founders of many churches including Revival Tabernacle Assembly of God Church in Albuquerque, where they pastored for 39 years. Mary's life passion was to read and study the Bible and share God's love with everyone she met. She was born in Laverne, OK and attended school in Cedar Vale, KS. Mary resided in the states of Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico and Arizona. Since 1996, she lived in San Antonio, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lova Helphingstine; her husband of 51 years, Rev. W.F. Watkins; her son, George C. Watkins; two brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her sister, Thelma Donahue; sister-in-law, Jeannetta Watkins; daughters, Martha and husband, Brian Garriffa and Debra and husband, Mick Winakur; grandchildren, Bill and Sue Watkins, George and Kim Watkins, Vernace and Eric White, Lamae and Paul Koogler, Mark and Edith Watkins, Candice Watkins, Brooke Winakur, Michael Winakur, Greg and Brenda Winakur, Michelle Garriffa, Colleen Garriffa; and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Monday, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Raymond Franks officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul NE. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Monday, one hour prior to service.
