Obituary for Schwab

Martha Irene Schwab, 86, died on January 18 2001 in Albuquerque, NM. She was born to William and Anna (Meyer) Smallfield on March 3, 1914 in Pipestone, MN. As a child she lived on a farm in Hatfield, MN, and later on a farm near Ihlen, MN where she attended county schools. During her teen years, they moved back to Hatfield. She attended and graduated from Pipestone High School and was confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church. In 1937, they moved to a farm north of Pipestone. Martha attended and graduated from beauty school in Minneapolis, and at one time owned her own shop there. She married William Schwab October 3, 1943, and they lived in Minneapolis until they retired and spent a great deal of time traveling to Phoenix, AZ where they had a home. After the death of William, she moved to Albuquerque. Martha is survived by one sister, Dora Cornelius of Albuquerque; one brother, Richard Smallfield and wife, Shirley of Medfield, MA; and nieces and nephews. Services will be held Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Pastor W. Bruce Wilder of the Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Family may visit one hour prior to service at the chapel. Intement will be in Crystal Valley Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN, beside her husband. French Mortuary, 1111 University Blvd. NE.
