Obituary for Bonomo

Reno J. Bonomo, long time Logan and Quay County Resident died January 15, 2001. Reno J. Bonomo was born June 12, 1931 at Roy, NM. He was a graduate of the Roy High School in 1949. He graduated from New Mexico State University in 1953. He entered the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant upon graduation and retired from the US Army after 22 years of service. He retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel and was at the time of his retirement Commander of the 1203 Tank Unit that saw four combat campaigns during the Viet Nam Conflict. He operated a well service at Roy, NM before moving to Tucumcari where he was Manager of Arch Hurley Conservancy District for five years. He was Village Manager of Logan, NM for approx. four years and was Assistant City Manager for Tucumcari for approx. two and a half years before retiring to Logan, NM. Surviving Reno Bonomo is his wife, Beatrice Bonomo of Logan, NM; two sisters, Colleen Grogan of Raton, NM and Janet Willis of Cedar Crest, NM; one brother, John H. Mahoney of Roy, NM; his step-father, J.A. Mahoney also of Roy, NM; his step-son, Dr. Rick Garcia and wife, JoAnne of Albuquerque, NM; a brother-in-law, Martin Garcia of Albuquerque, NM; and three grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his first wife, Mary Lou Bonomo in 1983. Mass of the Resurrection will be offered in the St. Anne's Catholic Church on Thursday, January 25, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Fr. John C. Daniel of St. Anne's Catholic Church officiating. Following his wishes, Reno J. Bonomo has been cremated. Interment of the Cremains will be in the family plot of the Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery.
