Obituary for Torrez

Nellie Torrez, beloved and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend was called home to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 11, 2001. Mrs. Torrez was long time resident of Albuquerque formerly of Grants, NM; she was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church; a member of Nueva Vida Prayer Group, Cursillo Movement, Carmelitas, Guadalupanos, and a eucharististic Lay Minster. She was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Torrez, Sr, parents, Jimmy and Concha Olveda, father, and mother-in-law, Bonifacio and Kathryn Torrez, son, Luther Torrez, brother, Raymond Olveda, son-in-law, Timmy Rubio, and daughter-in-law, Maria Torrez. She is survived by her loving children, Betty Rubio, Margaret Moya and husband, Harold, Nancy Saiz and husband, Frank, Felix Torrez, Jr. and wife, Odelia, Charles Torrez; 22 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four sisters, Socorro Gonzales, Theresa Chavez, Mary Romo, and Rachel Benavidez; one brother, Tony Olveda; numerous other relatives; and many special and close friends. She will be deeply missed by all. Visitations will be Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Communion Service will be conducted Monday morning at 10:00 a.m. also at the church. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Gilbert Gallegos, John Torrez, Harold Moya Jr., Frank Sandoval, Charles Torrez, Jr., Eutimio Gonzales Jr. Honorary bearers will be Eric Torrez, Julian Torrez, Phillip Sandoval and Jonathon Saiz.
