Obituary for Pierce

Dwight Elkanah Pierce, 78, a resident of Albuquerque for 32 years, passed away Saturday, October 13, 2001 in his home in Albuquerque after a brief struggle with heart disease. His sisters, Ruby Truitt and Helen Miller Wyss, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Edna of 59 years; brother, Ted Pierce and wife, Jeannine, brother, Richard Pierce and wife, Vivian; son, Paul Pierce and wife, Sharon; son, Jim Pierce and wife, Jan; four grandchildren, Brenda Eatough and husband, Michael, Tamara Labit and husband, Jim, Ted Pierce and fiance, Allyson, Katie Jacquez and husband, Ram; and four great-grandchildren, Dustin Labit, Dillon Labit, Katherine Eatough, and David Eatough, and numerous nieces, nephews, and close friends. Dwight was born in Stratton, Nebraska on April 16, 1923. He was extremely devoted to his wife and family and loved them all dearly. He worked very hard for more than 30 years to make his farm and ranch north of Stratton be a show place that was very successful. His Black Angus cattle werre a source of deep pride and were sold over much of the United States. He also owned and operated several other successful businesses including manufacturing and real estate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made to the American Heart Association, 6301 Forrest Hills NE, Albuquerque, NM. Services will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2001, 2:00 p.m. at Sandia Funeral Care, 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM.
