Obituary for Tynan

John F. "Don" Tynan, age 75, a resident of Rociada, NM died peacefully at his home in Rociada on Wednesday, February 21, 2001. He was born on October 7, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY to John F. Tynan and Dorothy Kenney Tynan. He is preceded in death by an infant brother, his parents, Dorothy Kenney Tynan and John F. Tynan, Sr. and his beloved sister, Eileen Van Buskirk. He is survived by his dear friend and companion, Bob Goodfellow of Rociada, NM; his brother, Robert J. Tynan and dear friend, John Fusco of San Francisco, CA; niece, Dorothy Cade and husband, Les of Oregon; nephews, Gil Van Buskirk and wife, Tiki; great-nephews, Gilbert Van Buskirk III and Daryl White all of California; cousin, Lawrence J. Tynan of Rociada, NM; as well as numerous cousins and friends across the country. Don served his country in World War II in the US Navy as a Signalman in the South Pacific and aboard the USS Sewannee CVE 27. A former Maryknoll Brother, Don served in Maryknoll Seminaries and Mission Houses in the US for 23 years. His quick wit and wonderful smile will be missed by his many friends. He also leaves behind his beloved pets, Shasta, Feo, Fiona and Renegade. Don and Bob would like to thank the generous friends and neighbors in Pendaries and Rociada for their care and concern, as well as the women and men of the Sapello-Rociada Volunteer Fire Department for their efforts on behalf of Don. Thanks also are due to the Esperanza Home Health Care/Hospice, especially Karen Bernal, RN, Chris Lau, RN and Roberta Valdez. If desired, memorials may be made to the Sapello-Rociada Volunteer Fire Department, Rociada, NM 87742; or a favorite charity.
