CHADWICK, GILBERT LEE (BUD) Gilbert Lee (Bud), passed away peacefully at home on September 22, 2014. His working tools having forever slipped from his grasp. He was known by people in the trades as Whitey. He was born in Woodson, Arkansas on March 28, 1924. He served his country in the Army during WWII in the Pacific. He was a Master Mason for 57 years and belonged to the Ballut Abyad Shriners as a member of the Patrol. He now follows his two wives, Threcia and Donna; his sister Sue; his mother Carrie and his father John. He is survived by his two daughters and three step-sons. Lindia Summers and her husband Daniel, Jean Chadwick, Ron Hatcher, Edmun Hatcher and his wife Jeanne, Mark Hatcher and his wife Misty; three grandchildren, Sean Summers and his wife Jennifer, Danelle Summers and her husband Corey, Nicholas Hatcher; and two great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Sara Summers. Bud enjoyed cooking and loved being with family and was a great supporter of animal rights. The pain of his passing will fade with time, but his memory will last forever. Services will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - University. CORBETT, PATRICIA Age 77, went to be with her heavenly father on September 20, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Ohio and has been a resident of Albuquerque since 1970. Pat is survived by her husband, Richard Corbett; children Pamela Penick, Shelly Johnson and Perry Penick; Richard's children Gayle Chaney and Steven Corbett; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She lived her life with her beloved husband, Richard. Pat was very active with the Assistance League, PEO, and was a docent at the zoo. She spent 25 years as a real estate broker. DODGE, ANTONIO Puerto De Luna and Santa Rosa native, Antonio "Tony" Dodge passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 in Albuquerque following a brief illness. He was 90. Antonio was born on July 12, 1924 in Santa Rosa, to the home of Henry Dodge and Dominga Madrid. Following the death of his mother, Antonio and his brothers and sisters moved to Puerto De Luna to live with his Grandfather Roman Dodge. He attended schools in Puerto De Luna and Santa Rosa and later in life attained an Associate Degree at New Mexico Highlands University. On June 2, 1946 he married Marcelina "Lena" Page in Puerto De Luna. He and his wife were faithful members of St. Rose of Lima Parish. Mr. Dodge was also a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Gabriel J. Coury Council 5146 and also a member of the 4thDegree. Mr. Dodge served during World War II, as a combat infantryman with the United States Army's 1st and 79th Infantry Division, achieving the rank of Technical Sergeant. Sergeant Dodge first entered combat on the beaches of Normandy, France in July 1944, and participated in numerous battles throughout France, Holland and Germany. During his service, he was directly involved in the liberation of Strasbourg, France, the Rhine River crossing and the liberation of several Nazi concentrations camps in Germany and Czechoslovakia. For his outstanding service, Sergeant Dodge was awarded the "Bronze Star". During his lifelong residence in Santa Rosa, Antonio was employed by the Santa Rosa Lumber Company as a carpenter and later was a self-employed building contractor. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Dodge taught Building Trades at Luna Vocational Institute in Las Vegas, NM and provided his many students with skills necessary to successfully run a construction business. When not working, he enjoyed writing Corridos (ballads), gardening, playing the guitar, hunting and fishing with his sons and daughters, watching boxing matches, playing card games with his friends and praying the rosary daily. Governor Martinez recognized Antonio for his outstanding lifelong accomplishments and model citizenry this past July, declaring Antonio's birthday, July 12, 2014, as "Antonio M. Dodge" day in the State of New Mexico. Antonio was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Marcelina who passed away on November 26, 2012, his parents, his siblings Felipe, Ascencion and Ramona Salazar. Survivors include his eight children, Anthony Dodge and wife Sharon of San Antonio, TX, Gloria Dodge-Campos of Albuquerque, Susan Dodge-Sanchez of Albuquerque, Nicholas Dodge and wife Gloria of Taylor Ranch, John Dodge and wife Kate Jesberg of Albuquerque, James Dodge and wife Linda of Santa Rosa, William Dodge and wife Kym of Albuquerque, Frank Dodge of Santa Rosa and Timothy Dodge and wife Marilyn of Santa Rosa. Also surviving are his sisters Juanita Chavez of Wichita Kansas, Anastasia Mendez of Phoenix, AZ, Nedina Robles of Clovis, NM, Emily Dodge of Albuquerque; brothers Domingo Dodge of Superior, AZ, and Rosendo Dodge of Phoenix, AZ; along with 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 7:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 27, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will follow at the family plot at Nuestra Senora de Refugio Cemetery in Puerto De Luna. Serving as Pallbearers will be his sons. The family wants to give a special thanks to the staff at the V.A. Medical Center for the fantastic care provided to Antonio during his illness. JERMYN, HARRY A. SR. Harry A. Jermyn, Sr. passed away peacefully at home with family on September 20, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Polly. He celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on September 5. Harry is survived by one brother, Tom Jermyn of Boston, MA; and 13 children, Martha Joe Hall, Diana Lawson, Karen Sweat, Brenda Vardy, Gwynne Hall, Harry Vern Hall, Douglas Frazier, Gwinn Hall, Bradley Frazier, Melanie Collier, Harry A. Jermyn, Jr., Susie Mace and Lora Zamora. He has 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews. He served in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific Theatre at Leyte Gulf and was honorably discharged in December 1945. His early hobbies were racing midgets, stock cars, building boats and cabin cruisers, then later it was all about golf, fishing, camping, and softball. JONES, MONTE R. Age 51, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on August 25, 1963, to Errol Dean and Joyce Gail (Baker) Jones. He was preceded in death by his father, Errol Dean Jones; and a sister, Casey Kathleen Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 20 years, Michelle Renee Jones; son, Hunter Jones; mother, Gail Jones; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Daniel and Dula Gutierrez; sister-in-law, Noreen Denise Daugherty; many close family members and friends. Mr. Jones was a lifelong New Mexican, graduating from Kirtland Central High School in 1981 and New Mexico State University in 1987 with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He began his career in law enforcement with Albuquerque Public Schools and retired as a Sergeant from Rio Rancho Police Department in 2010. Currently, he was a security officer for Rio Rancho Public Schools. He, also enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. KARNES, BARBARA ANN Age 56, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014. She was born to Robert and Esther Karnes. She worked as a professional caregiver for the developmentally disabled and was an accomplished sign language interpreter for the deaf. Barbara received a BS degree in Human Services from the University of Phoenix. She inspired her family and friends by demonstrating that love does indeed know how to suffer, as she exhibited the strength to endure the extra ordinary struggle she had with cancer in the last years of her life. In spite of chronic pain and insomnia, she devoted herself selflessly, to help family members in need without complaint or protest. Barbara had the kind of laugh that one could not hear without being moved to laugh along with her. It was an honor and privilege to have known her as a daughter, sister and friend. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Thursday, September 25, 2014, 7:00 p.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, and the Memorial Mass will be celebrated Friday, September 26, 2014, 9:00 a.m. at The Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School Rd NE. LEMONS, DONNA L. Age 51, went on to glory Wednesday, September 17, 2014 with her family by her side. She was born in Cuero, TX on September 19, 1962, to Joseph L Gibbs Sr. and Dela Mae Darden. She was preceded in death by her mother Dela Mae Gibbs; brother Joseph Gibbs Jr.; sister Mavis Dorrell; and grandmother Lula Lewis. Donna is survived by daughter, LaDretta Gibbs; father Joseph Gibbs; sisters Lula, Zina, Faedra, Joelene; brothers Robert Gibbs Sr., Flex Gibbs, Phillip Gibbs; grandchildren Damiyah and LaTavis; grandfather Rev. Joe M. Lewis. Donna was a faithful member of Bethlehem Baptist Church Song in the New Mexico Mass Choir and The Progressive Baptist State Convention. She will truly be missed. LEVY, JUAN CARLOS Juan Levy passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 leaving his loving wife, two sons and his grandson/best friend along with his much loved extended family and friends. Born to Julia and Rolf Levy on August 3, 1945 in Bogota, Colombia, Juan was the 2nd of five children (older brother Miguel and younger sisters Magda, Beatriz and Patricia). Following Miguel to the United States, Juan left Colombia to attend college in Indiana in 1965. As a student, Juan moved around the western United States ultimately settling in Albuquerque to finish his schooling at UNM. While a student at UNM, he met the love of his life, Kathy Cravens. In 1973, Juan and Kathy moved to Bogota, where they were married on April 27. They returned to Albuquerque for good ahead of the birth of their first son in 1975. Over the 40 years he lived in Albuquerque, Juan raised his boys, built a successful career and surrounded himself with friends and family. Honesty and loyalty are the values by which Juan lived and defined himself; honesty in how he lived his life and loyalty for those who shared it with him. He was a great friend, an amazing dad and even better grandfather, but most of all he was a husband who loved his wife. He will be missed by all who knew him.

LEYBA, HELEN E. Helen "Peaches" E. Leyba, 81, life-long resident of Albuquerque, passed away with family by her side on September 23, 2014. She is survived by her siblings, Theresa Bates, Judy Noyes, and Jack Jordan; children, Frances Stuckwisch and husband Stephen, Yvonne Leyba and husband Paul Ziemba, Cynthia Leyba and Andrea Sunderman and husband Harold; her grandchildren, Matthew Stuckwisch, Rachel Stuckwisch, Adrian Ziemba, Gregory Ziemba, Laurel Sunderman and Bryant Sunderman, along with extended family members. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso and Aurelia Martin, and her granddaughter, Beckie Stuckwisch. Helen was a graduate of St. Vincent Academy in Albuquerque. Her proudest achievement was seeing her daughters graduate from college and become successful in their careers. LOPEZ, RAFAEL A. (RALPH) Born on July 4th, 1933 in Socorro, NM, died on September 24, 2014 in Bernalillo, NM. After a lengthy illness Rafael has finally reached his Lord and Savior in his blessed home of Heaven. Rafael was the oldest of 13 children and had always kept each one of them in his heart, especially his brothers Frank and Roy. In the final years of his life, he was taken care of by his loving wife Judy, who gave her all to him until the end. Rafael has four children: Jennifer, Janet, Larry and Frank; daughter-in-law Shauna; and five grandchildren: Randy, Jeremiah, Carolyn, Dustina and Judy, whom he loved dearly. As per his request, no public services will be held, but to all of his friends he had nothing but love for you and will meet with you in the final inning in the game of life.

MORELLO, JOYCE Verlie Joyce Morello, age 86, died peacefully on Sunday morning, September 21, 2014, surrounded by family and all the beauty that is her home. She had made the gracious decision to meet the diagnosis of her late-stage illness with faith and acceptance. Joyce was born at Long Lake, Minnesota, October 30, 1927. She graduated from St. James High School in 1945, entered Northwestern School of Nursing in August of that year, and graduated from that program in 1948. The following nine years were spent in nursing in Omaha, Nebraska, during which time she was married and bore her two sons, Larry and Bobby Carmignani. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1957. Since that time Joyce has been a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church where she was a member of the choir, was active in Stephen's Ministry, and was a beloved kindergarten teacher. Joyce was a prominent member of the New Mexico community of artists, where she met her mentor and second husband, Joseph Morello. Together they taught art, traveled, and were blessed with an extensive network of creative and wonderful friends. Joyce was deeply engaged in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had a passion for classical music, nature, wine and good company. She leaves behind her a legacy of Christian love and a joyous reverence for life. Joyce is survived by her brothers, Leland Pearson and LaVern Pearson, both of Minnesota, along with their families; her eldest son, Lawrence T. Carmignani, of Seattle, Washington; her granddaughters, Christen C. Pike and Lawren M. Carmignani, both of Albuquerque, along with their spouses, John R. Pike and April D. Kinney; her two great-grandsons, Jackson G. Pike and Parker W. Pike; & her step-daughter, Licia Morello, along with Licia's daughter Andrea. Her parents, Ted and Emma Pearson; her sister-in-law, Ruth Pearson; her husband, Joseph R. Morello; and her youngest son, Robert L. Carmignani, precede her in death. The family will be hosting an open house in celebration of Joyce's life on Saturday, September 27th from 2:00 - 5:00 PM at 9020 Aspen Ave NE in Albuquerque.

ROOKS, LAWRENCE MICHAEL Age 61, died Monday, September 22, 2014. Michael was preceded in death by his father Stanley Jim Rooks; sister Maralyn Mugan and brother Ronnie Rooks. He is survived by his wife, Maria; children, Daniel Rooks, Dominic Rooks and his wife Shannon, Marco Delgado - Partin and Vandolee Nixon; brother, James Rooks; sisters Loretta Rooks, Kimberly Rodriquez and Renee Rooks; and five grandchildren. Mike was an avid fisherman, hunter and enjoyed camping. He was the supervisor in home construction for many years. SUTTON, PATRICIA (TRICIA) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, age 69, died peacefully in her sleep on June 11, 2014 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She is survived by her daughter Kendel (Steve) Ritter; son Joseph (Jessica) Soban; grandchildren Brook Lynn, Stephen, Abigail, and Joseph IV; brother Chris (Pam) Sutton; sisters Colleen Cawthon and Kelly (Scott) Bowen; nieces Robyn, Courtney and Marissa; and nephews Eric and Christian. Tricia was predeceased by her parents Raymond (Tip) and Patricia (Fisher) Sutton of Linwood, New Jersey. She spent 30 years teaching high school English primarily at Toms River East High School in Toms River, New Jersey, retiring in 1998 when she moved to Albuquerque. During her retirement she was involved in Albuquerque Newcomers Club, New Mexico Gourd Society, Bead Society of New Mexico and Fiber Arts. She won numerous awards at the New Mexico State Fairs in Albuquerque and Socorro for her craft work and was a craft instructor at Meadowlark Senior Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Always active she enjoyed going on cruises, researching her family tree, knitting and a variety of other crafts and in 2012 authored the book "One Gourd at a Time: A Beginners Guide". Most of all, she cherished her time with her children and grandchildren. Her cremation was handled by Daniels Funeral Home and the arrangements were private at the request of the family.

THOMPSON, JAMES J. Memorial services for James J. Thompson will be held Saturday, September 27, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of French's Mortuary on Lomas just East of Eubank. There will be a reception immediately following. All are welcome to share a favorite memory of Jim. Born October 22, 1940, Jim died August 4, 2014, from a brain tumor. Jim passed away as he lived - with courage, dignity, and warm kindness. Jim lived an extraordinary life, and leaves behind family and friends who adore and admire him. Throughout his long career as a Health Physicist-first at Lovelace Inhalation Toxicology Institute until 1994; then at University of Utah from 1994 until 2001; then at Sandia National Labs, from where he retired in 2011-Jim worked tirelessly to research and implement the highest standards of workplace health and safety. While raising his three sons, Jim went to every possible sports event, science fair, school play and recital. He loved the Boy Scouts and was extremely proud that his three sons each earned the Eagle Scout badge. One of his greatest joys was seeing the career successes of boy scouts in their adult lives. Jim was an honorable, humorous, keenly intelligent, and warmly caring person. WIGGINS, DOUGLAS WAYNE Age 54, born 5/31/60, passed away 9/16/14 after an unexpected illness. Doug took great pleasure in ministering to and feeding the homeless. He was preceded in death by his father Wilfred Wiggins and nephew Dougie Wiggins. He is survived by his mother Kathy Wiggins; beloved service dog Patmos; two brothers Tom (Jackie) Wiggins, Mark (Roberta) Wiggins; four sisters Fran (John) Luna, Debbie (Leo) Page, Denise (John) Garcia, Nicole (David) Meyers; 16 nieces and nephews; 17 great-nieces and nephews who lovingly refer to him as "Uncle Ice Cream"; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and dear friends Sylvia, Zak and Jim. He will be forever missed.
