AVILA, MARK ANGEL Mark Angel Avila was born on September 11, 1954 in Victorville, CA to Manuel Avila and Sally Arline. Mark married the love of his life, Petey Avila on October 21, 1972. Mark and Petey later had 4 children: Angela, Paul, Michael, and Matthew. He later had seven grandchildren whom he loved and spoiled. Mark was always energetic and was a prankster. Mark went home to heaven on Thursday, November 20, 2014 after suffering from colon cancer. He will be remembered as a man who loved God, his family, his friends, and of course the Dallas Cowboys. Mark was loved by his family and many friends and will be missed. BUSH, BILLY aged 94, died peacefully at home on November 19, 2014 after a 1 1/2 year contest with lymphoma. He was born on May 28, 1920 in Pueblo, Colorado and lived with his maternal grandparents until age 7, when his family moved to northern Idaho. Like others of the "greatest generation," he came of age during the Great Depression, graduating high school in 1938, when he enrolled in junior college and took a course in Civilian Pilot Training. The next year he had a first date with Margery Ann Hutsell, launching a 72 year romance and nearly 68 year marriage. She predeceased him in 2012. Billy aspired to be a military pilot, and joined the US Navy in 1942. During WWII, he flew dive bombers from the USS Hornet in the Pacific theatre. He received a number of decorations including the Navy Cross, Distinguished Flying Cross, several Air Medals, two Presidential Unit Citations, and others. He also served as an instructor of naval aviation cadets during the Korean War. He attended college with support of the GI Bill, obtaining a Master's degree in chemistry from the University of Idaho, leading to a 32 year career in the petrochemical industry. He often noted the effect of the hard times which shaped his youth, observing "if you couldn't pay for it, you didn't buy it," and demonstrated a resultant lifelong pattern of self-reliance and fiscal and political conservatism. He is survived by son Steven E. Bush, MD and wife Peggie Ann Findlay, MD in Albuquerque, and their children, Alexandra and Brendan. He is also survived by son Michael W. Bush and wife, Cynthia in St. Charles, MO and their children, Erin and Andrew. He will be remembered with love and great fondness by family and a wide circle of friends, who all appreciated his wise perspectives, grace, and good humor. One of his last requests was that his friends would raise a toast to his memory, "He was one of the most fortunate people we have ever met. He was truly blessed." A memorial service for both Margery Ann and Billy will be scheduled early in the New Year. Their cremains will be interred together in the Arlington National Cemetery.

CHAVEZ, ROBERT E. age 72, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014. CHAVEZ, GENE Gene Chavez (Eugenio) born February 2, 1937, died November 23, 2014. He is survived by his four children, Anna Escarsega, Gene Chavez, Jr., Lisa Salazar, and Laverne Molina; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren; two brothers, Andrew Chavez and Ricky Chavez; four sisters, Linda Chavez, Maria Garcia, Maxine (Cecelia) Bustillos and Wllma Paz. He is preceded in death by his parents Nick and Rebecca Chavez; brothers, Nick and Arthur Chavez; and sisters Eleanor Shelton and Lucy Pacheco. God bless and we will miss you. CHINAPPI, NANCY KELLY Nancy Kelly Chinappi of Rio Rancho, NM, passed away peacefully at home on November 18th, 2014. Her final moments were shared with husband, Raymond Chinappi; her daughters, Amber O. Bennett, Brittain K. Watson; and granddaughter Codi Ann Bennett. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Richard M. Kelly, Sioux Falls; sister, Cindy A. Larsson, Lander, WY; and grandchildren, Jack and Shelby Watson. Nancy had a passion for helping "at risk" children and adolescents which led to a life-long career in special education and numerous volunteer positions related to children's advocacy. Nancy retired from education in 1994 to open a business in the nutrition industry and ran two successful businesses over a 15 year period. Although she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001, she remained active with PEO, bible study group, book club, board positions, friends and family. She was a "Mom" to many, a warm, loving, giving, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed more than words can say. We are honoring her final wishes not to have a service after her passing. Memorial gifts can be made to New Mexico Cancer Center.

EVANS, RONALD ABER Ron, born on October 4, 1932, passed from this life to the next on Sunday morning, November 23, 2014, surrounded by his family. Ron was a beloved husband, father, grandpa and friend. Ron and his best friend, the love of his life, his wife, Kathleen, spent 57 wonderful years growing their family to include two sons, two daughters-in-law and four grandsons. He was a proud 20-year military veteran, enlisting in the Marines at 17-years-old and serving in Korea during the war. After four years in the Marines, Ron enlisted in the Air Force, where he learned the electric trade as a lineman. Ron was ever-patient, had a quick wit and a contagious smile that was only overshadowed by the sparkle in his blue eyes. Ron loved to shoot guns and was quite the sharpshooter. He was a team father on his son's sports teams while they were growing up. He was an animal lover and had many pets in his life, the last being a dog named Lady. Ron was an honest man and instilled this in his sons. Ron knew a little bit about everything and always had a story and a smile to share with friends, old and new. We are sure going to miss you, Ron. GARCIA, ROBERT C. Robert C. Garcia, 89, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 21, 2014. Robert passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his home. He was born to Clodio and Dolores Garcia in Anton Chico, NM on November 11, 1925. He is survived by wife, Ida Garcia; his five daughters, Sandra Milliman, JoAnn Keicher, Vera Rogers, Katherine Camper (husband, Sam), Lisa Tillery (husband, Brian); eight grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his sisters and brothers Clodio, Eloisa, Emelia, Ponciana (1915), Ponciana (1916), Abrana, Lee, Viola, and Billy. Robert served in the Army during World War II and received the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal WWII, American Campaign Medal, European-African Eastern Campaign Medal and two Bronze Service Stars. Robert was employed by Sandia National Laboratories for more than 30 years. Robert was a hardworking, loyal, giving and very special man. We will all miss him dearly. GAUNA, MARY ROSE 1951-2014 Mary Rose Gauna, age 63, a resident of Belen, NM peacefully passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014. Mary Rose lived her life to the fullest and had a passion for traveling, arts & crafts, and cooking. She devoted her life to creating memories with her family and children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Lucy Sosa Torres. Mary Rose is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Gerald Gauna; she was a wonderful mother to Alejandro and his wife, Adrienne and Yolanda and her husband, Bill; she was a proud abuelita to her first grandchild, Graciela Rose; and was the number one sister to her brothers, Raymond, Manuel, Rick, Anthony and Joe Torres. GUSTAVSON-CALANCA, CHALOTTE MARIA Age 32, a resident of Albuquerque, died unexpectedly on November 20, 2014. She is survived by her beloved husband, Lonn Vincent Calanca, and her precious 4 year old son Orion; her parents, Johnny Gustavson and Jette Gustavson of Norway; her brother, Michael Gustavson of Norway; and many cherished cousins, aunts, uncles. Born and raised in Kongsberg, Norway, Chalotte traveled the world, studying Ayurvedic medicine in Barcelona, Spain and in Pune, India. It was when Chalotte was studying at the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque that she met her soulmate and best friend, Lonn. Together they performed on stages across the region where Chalotte's musical talents shined on the keyboards and in her angelic vocals. They lived in Taos, NM, but settled down in Albuquerque for the birth of their son, Orion. A gifted healer, Chalotte worked as an Ayurvedic practitioner in private practice, as a therapist at Betty's Bath and Day Spa, and she was training with midwives to assist women in labor. Known for her playful spirit, easy smile and hearty laughter, Chalotte was loved by everyone who knew her. She possessed a magical gift to make each person she knew feel uniquely adored. MARTINEZ, LEO F. Leo F. Martinez went home to the Lord on Friday, November 21, 2014. He was born in Roy, NM on July 27, 1930. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary Montoya-Martinez; two sisters Evelyn De Herrera and husband Alfred and Viola Griego. He is also survived by seven children Leo and wife Yong of Colorado Springs, CO, Celina and husband Arturo of Bernalillo, Cecilia of Englewood, CO, Josie of Ft. Collins, CO, Marcy of Albuquerque, Edward and wife Amy of Bernalillo and Virginia and husband Dominic of Algodones. He was blessed with 16 grandchildren, Rebecca and husband Henry, lena and husband Mark, Salomon and wife Selena, Layla and husband Joey, Daniel, Anitra and fiance Ray, Mark and wife Raelee, Steven and wife Tracy, Angelina and husband Dustin, Erika and husband Josh, Michael, Elicia and fiance Marian, Kristina and husband Dwayne, David, Leona and Analisa. He also had 25 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Adrian, Matthew, Quentin, Mia, Samantha, Stephen, Dominique, Savannah, Derrick, Alex, Anthony, Aiyana, Danika, Evangeline, Liliana, Isaiah, Isaac, Maya, David, Alexus, Antonio, Damian, Noah and Suchel. He had many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Celina Martinez, brothers Louie, Joe and Sammy; and sisters Della Velasquez, Rachel Lujan and Mary Rivera. Leo was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will truly be missed by all. He retired from Shollenbarger Woodtreating Co. after 42 years and enjoyed working on various projects after retiring in 1994. He was a devout Catholic and until recently attended Mass almost daily. Funeral services for Leo will be held on Friday, November 27, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springer, NM. Rosary will commence at 9:30 am with the Mass of the Resurrection immediately following. Arrangements are being handled by Alderete Funeral Home Raton, NM.

PETERSON, ANNICE (NUBBY) M. Annice (Nubby) M. Peterson was called home on 11/17/14 after a long battle with medical issues. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and her youngest son. Annice is survived by her husband, Edwin (Pete) Peterson of 62 years; one brother, Lee Rickert and his wife Annette; three children, Virginia (Ginny) Clines, Edwin (Manny) Peterson and his wife Connie, and Lynette Brice and her husband Matt; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest at The National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Per Annice's request, no services will be held.

SANCHEZ, RUDOLPH Age 84, an Atrisco Land Grant heir, passed away peacefully at home on November 22, 2014 in the loving arms of his beloved wife, children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Loretta, his parents Jose De La Luz and Mary Sanchez; his brothers Myron and Adelbert Sanchez and his sister Mary Alice Luna. He is survived by his sister Viola Martinez and brothers Lawrence and Gilbert Sanchez. He is also survived by wife Elma; sons, Randy Sanchez, wife Angela, Adam Sanchez, wife Clarese and daughters Mona Lisa Gonzales, husband Jerry, and Carmen Sanchez, fiance Don Colton; nine grandchildren: Cole Sanchez, Garrett Gonzales, Loretta Gonzales, Savanna Sanchez, Jordan Sanchez, Shayla Sanchez, Amber Sanchez, Courtney Sanchez, and Austin Sanchez. Rudy Sanchez served in the U.S Army, attained the rank of Corporal. During Rudy's early years he had a passion for baseball and played college baseball, American Legion and semi-pro baseball that attracted scouts from the Brooklyn Dodgers. Rudy attended St. Joseph College and Highland University with a Masters degree in Spanish and School Administration. Rudy retired from Albuquerque Public Schools with 32 years of service. He began his career as a coach at Barcelona Elementary and later taught Spanish to thousands of South Valley children at Harrison Junior High and Albuquerque High School. He was a favorite with students, often chosen as teacher of the year. Rudy and his wife were blessed with 57 years of marriage. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 26th from 8:00 to 8:30 am. followed by a Rosary and Christian Burial Mass at 8:30 am. at St. Anne's Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd. SW. An interment will take place following the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith NE and reception to follow at St. Anne's Parish Hall. SANCHEZ, JOSE (JOE) MANUEL Age 75, passed away Nov 18, 2014 after a lengthy illness. He was born on Sept 6, 1939 in Dixon, NM to Estevan and Frances Sanchez. He was raised in Pecos, NM until his military enlistment. He was an avid sportsman, especially enjoying fishing and hunting ventures. He traveled extensively during his career in the US Air Force, until his retirement, at which time he settled in Albuquerque, NM, where he remained until his death. He is survived by daughter Paula Enrietti; granddaughter Stephanie; grandson Devin Enrietti; and his two great-granddaughters Marissa and Jayla. He is also survived by his brother, Steve Sanchez (Dianna); sisters, Alice Tapia (Adam), Louella Mo, Georgia Barrett (Fred), Elaine Otero (Leo), Debora Willford (Kirk); as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and many other relatives.
