BACA, TONY A. Born June 27th 1941, heavenly journey began November 8, 2014, with his family and friends around him with love. He is survived by his extraordinary wife, Lilac; and his children, Debbie, Robert, and Chris; grandchildren, Tara, Martin, Ryan, David, and Christina; and his great grandchild Junior. Also survived by his sisters, brothers and their spouses, Ginger and Martin Ramirez, Joanna and David Whitting and Mary Blackmon, Jimmy and Betty Baca and Donald and Jenny Baca, Thank you to his nephews and nieces for being so good to Tony. A special thank you to Easter Henderson, Marty and Linda Ramirez, Cindy Henderson, Judy Guttman, David and Joyce Ramirez, Linda Dimas, Kelly Baca, Kenneth Baca and his best friend Mikey Orona for being there with us during this hardship. BROWN, BARBARA RITA ANGEL Barbara "Bubba" age 51, was called home to be an angel with our Lord. Barbara passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014. She is survived by her sister Linda Trujillo; nieces and nephews Adam Trujillo, Feliz Trujillo, David Trujillo Jr., Daniel Herrera; great nephew Antonio Trujillo; and her fiance Donovan Besson. Also many special friends that Barbara loved dearly. Barbara loved music, singing and dancing. She loved computers and had to keep up with the latest technology. We will always remember Barbara's beautiful smile and her happy outlook on life. She is truly God's angel and loved us all. She will be greatly missed as an aunt and great aunt. CHAVEZ, GEORGINA Georgina Chavez, defined as the most maternal, loving, selfless, and dignified woman is once again united with her mother, father, son, aunts, uncles, primos, and primas in eternal heaven. Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on November 8, 2014. She entered this world on February 22, 1944, in Albuquerque, NM, to Alfredo and Tomasita Valdez. She is survived by her husband, Frank Chavez, whose love she shared for 52 years; son, Mark Chavez; and daughters, Tommie Hernandez and husband, Peter, and Frances Garcia and husband, Johnny; grandchildren, Isaac, JD, and Sugar; sister, Theresa Montoya and husband, Daniel, and their daughter, Jessica Mascarenas; brother-in-law, Daniel Garcia and his wife, Dorothy and their daughters, Sharon and Ruth; along with many extended family members, god-children, and friends. Georgina and Frank established Bernalillo Feed & Conoco Inc., where they worked together for 41 years. Georgina was a prominent business woman in Bernalillo. She was a house hold name in the community and will be greatly missed. Life's not the breath you take, but the moments that take your breath away. It took our breath away when she took her last. GABALDON, ROSITA 1924-2014 Mrs. Rosita Gabaldon, age 90, a resident of Los Lunas, NM went to be with her heavenly Father and her beloved husband, Rafael Gabaldon, on Tuesday, November 11, 2014. Rosita was the mother of ten children. She was a member of the Sacred Heart League and the Altar Society at the San Clemente Church. Rosita enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Rosita was the glue to her large family. No holiday was complete without going to see her. She was our dearly beloved Mama, Nana, and Grandma. We honor her memory by remembering all her wonderful life stories. We remember her frequently traveling with her husband and visiting with friends and family. We remember her world famous salsa. We remember her 29 years of working at the Los Lunas Hospital and Training School where she grew to love each and every one of the children for whom she cared for. We remember her kind heart and the way she made every guest in her home feel warm and welcome. She was preceded in death by her sons, Abelito and Patricio; and her husband of 62 years, Rafael. Rosita's memory and love will be carried on by her daughter, Juanita Gallegos and her husband, Ernest of Belcamp, MD; daughter, Beatrice Garley of Albuquerque, NM; son, Antonio Gabaldon and his wife, Patricia of Glendale, AZ; daughter, Nancy Montoya and her late husband, Arthur of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter, Angela Castillo and her husband, Ruben; daughter, Genevieve Martinez and her husband, Freddie; daughter, Dolores Cano and her husband, Armando; and daughter, Mary Tafoya and her husband, Lawrence, all of Los Lunas, NM; and her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great- great-grandchildren. GRIEGO, CECIL DEAN Our beloved Cecil Dean Griego, age 45, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Monday, November 10. Forty five years ago, Cecil Dean Griego was born in Cedro, NM. Cecil walked into the arms of God on November 10, 2014. Cecil loved DJing, music, oldies, old school, and rancheras and classic cars, but his love of God superseded all else. Cecil volunteered many hours at his favorite radio station KANW. Waiting for Cecil in heaven are his beloved father, Pedro Griego; beloved mother, Maria Rosita Paz; sister, Rebeca Griego; and brother, Ted P. Griego. He is survived by his daughter, Natalia M. Griego; sisters, Judy A. Chavez (Carlos), Janice M. Griego (Dennis), Jessica R. Turner Torres (Mark); brothers, Leo Griego, Juan R. Griego (Marcella), David O. Griego; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. MCCLURE, VELMA F. Velma F. McClure went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2014. She was born October 22nd, 1926 on the Turkey Track Ranch outside Dexter, New Mexico. Her father, Casey Jones, was a lawman, cow puncher and eventually retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Her mother was Cleffie S. Jones. She is survived by her two sons, Capt. J. Craig McClure and Dr. Bruce McClure with his wife Peggy, of Albuquerque. Her grandchildren: Seth McClure and wife Beth, of Madison, Wisconsin and Capt. Gideon McClure and wife Cynthia of Cedar Park, Texas. Her four great-grandchildren: Gus, Maggie, Toby and Maisie. Her sister June Van Zant of El Paso, Texas and her brother Sgt. Bert Jones and wife Jeanene of Ft. Collins, Colorado as well as her sister-in-law Gail Jones of Rio Rancho. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. J. C. McClure, and by her brothers, Petty Officer Ralph Jones and Lt. Dean Jones, NMSP. Velma grew up in the Tularosa Valley and started working at Deming Army Air Field in 1942 where she met her husband "Mac." She worked for various government agencies at Ft. Bliss, Ft. Wingate and as an administrative assistant with Dr. Clyde Tombaugh, discoverer of Pluto and Wernher Von Braun, one of the fathers of rocket science. Velma also worked for the Albuquerque Public Schools from the 1960's into the 1980's. Her best times, she would say, were spent as a military wife traveling the world. She earned her Bachelor's degree at the University of New Mexico in 1985. She loved sports and games of chance; she and Mac were nationally ranked Bridge players.Vel enjoyed her grandchildren and grand-dogs and loved being outdoors, especially if flowers were in bloom. Always the gracious hostess, she also gave as good as she got, and had true grit. A friend to anyone in need and quick to laugh, smile and enjoy a joke. She will be sorely missed by all who had the good fortune to know her and the honor to call her friend. Baptized in the Anglican faith at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in 1954 where the circle of her earthly life will end with a service at 10am on Friday, November 14th, 2014 at the church, located at 601 Montano Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107. She will then be laid to rest with her husband of 44 years at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe at a graveside service starting at 3pm. MENICUCCI, MARIO J. Mario J. Menicucci, age 92, passed away peacefully at his home on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 27, 1922 to his parents Amerigo and Davina Menicucci. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Theresa, who still resides in the family home. He is also survived by his six children: daughter, Gemma and husband, Russell Morris; daughter, Roberta Menicucci; son, John and wife, Muffin Menicucci; son, Mark and wife, Susie Menicucci; daughter, Laura and husband, Danny Miller; and son, Philip and wife, Susan Menicucci. Mario is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Marisa (Freddie Peyerl), Justin, John Jr. (Betsy), Janea, Joseph, Jason (Shaina), Brian (Gina), Sarah (Derek Riewe), Kevin (Laurel), Jeremy (Charissa), Adam (Stacy), Eric (Ashley), Ivan, Neal, Theresa, Noah and Samuel; 31 great-grandchildren; and two more on the way in 2015. He is also survived by his sister, Rena and husband, Al Arrigoni, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Louise and brother-in-law, Bill Stein. A member of the Greatest Generation, he served his country proudly in the Army Air Force during World War II. He finished his service working with the federal Lend-Lease program in Australia and New Zealand. Along with his father, Amerigo, his uncle, Julio, and his cousins, Charlie and Dante Menicucci, he operated Super Service Station and Tire Co., and Super Oil Co. in downtown Albuquerque, a service business built upon trust and integrity. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish since 1950, a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Elks club, American Legion Post 13, the Brothers of the Good Shepherd, and after surviving colon cancer 28 years ago, a member of the Ostomy Association of NM. Mario was a master gardener, growing figs, tomatoes, green beans, lettuce, and squash to supply all of the family. He loved the outdoors. He was happiest fishing and dove and quail hunting with his sons and grandsons. He loved to picnic and hunt mushrooms in the Jemez Mountains and get away to a small family cabin in the Jemez. Among the Italians in Albuquerque, he was the consummate mushroom hunter, with everyone calling him in late summer to see where the mushrooms were. Up until several years ago he bowled in his league every week and played bridge with a wonderful group of men. He was a quiet man of great faith, never complaining about anything in his life. He lived his life for his family. The family would like to thank the special caregivers of SolAmor Hospice for the care and dedication they gave Mario over the last two years and to his primary care physician, Dr. Francesco Standoli. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, November 14, 2014 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 4020 Lomas Blvd NE. MILLER, BEVERLEY RUTH 1956-2014 Beverley Ruth Miller, resident of Rio Communities, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2014. Beverley was a bus driver for Los Lunas Schools for 25 years. She was also an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Belen. Beverley was an avid golfer and the former treasurer of WGA. Beverley is preceded in death by her mother, Esther Ruth; daughter, Ruth Virginia Miller; and father-in-law, Gerald J. Miller. She is survived by her husband, Paul Miller; son, Jacob Paul Miller; her father, Aubert C. Ruth and wife, Donnetta; sisters, Cathy Schweagler, Marjorie Welchan, Melody Clark, Besty Aeschliman; her grandson, Brandon Miller; mother-in-law, Louise Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, November 13th at First Presbyterian Church of Belen beginning at 2:00 pm, followed by a reception. PICKERING, JOHN M. (JACK) John M. Pickering (Jack), age 98, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 20, 2014 in Rio Rancho. Son of Maylin Joseph and Nell Pickering (nee Pontz). He was the beloved husband of the late Gudrun Gisela (Gundi) Pickering and brother of the late William B. Pickering and the late Emilie Brandhorst. He is survived by his sons David and Philip and by his grandchildren Bryan and Emmi. PIERCE, NEOMI Neomi Pierce of Prosper, Texas went to be with her Lord on Monday, November 10, 2014 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Neomi is survived by the love of her life, her loving husband of 35 years, Les Pierce of Prosper; her mother, Margaret Lopez of Albuquerque; her son, Duane and two grandsons, Anthony and Ethan of Albuquerque; her sister, Jeanette (Danny) from Albuquerque; her sister, Linda from California; two nephews, Tony and Jimmy from California; her niece, Jamie and great-nephew, Marcus of Albuquerque; her brother-in-law, Kerry (Donna), two nephews, Corey (Sydney) and Colton and her niece, Krysten from Des Moines, Iowa; her sister-in-law, Courtney (Darren) from Seattle, WA; and her mother-in-law, Bobbi from Albuquerque. She was predeceased by her father, Albert. Also surviving is her "baby" and constant companion, Tiger Woods Pierce. She graduated from high school in Albuquerque and had a long career with Pioneer Wear followed by a lengthy career as a small business owner. A devoted member of the Frisco Bible Church for 16 years, she was active in the Bible Study Group and the Birthday Lunch Group. Her gift for hospitality and open door policy made everyone welcome to her home. A wonderful friend to everyone she met. She was loved by all who knew her. RAY, TRAVIS Travis Alan Ray, age 26, died unexpectantly at home November 8, 2014. Travis left behind his heartbroken sister Mackenzie Ray and parents Daniel and Tracey Ray. Travis's big sister Tabitha was waiting to meet him on the other side. Travis was born August 30, 1988 in Albuquerque, NM. Travis was a free-spirit who loved his family and friends. He was a kind, loyal and gentle soul who smiled easily. He loved music and was an accomplished guitarist. Travis was a self-taught computer guru. He loved Taz, and the Ninja Turtles. Travis's recent goal was to study Addiction Counseling. He made his family laugh and we cannot be prouder to have had him by our side. Travis is survived by his pseudo-sisters Jillian Young, Jadyn McComb and Bridget Baker Ramos; pseudo-brother Brett Baker; his grandfather Paul McComb Jr. (who started the love of guitars and passed it down to Travis), grandmother Mary Ray; Aunts Twyla McComb, DeAnn Kauffman, Janis Kelton, Rosie McComb, Jessica Cayton, Melissa Damon, Michel Ray, Lorna Cannon and Monica Anderson; Uncles Roy McComb (who played guitars with him regularly), Mark McComb and Glen Ray; and too many cousins and friends to list. Travis was preceded in death by his beloved Granny Beverly McComb, Grandfather Charles Ray, his Aunt and second mom, Jamie Holt McComb and his very special cousin, who ALWAYS loved Travis best, Jody Young. There will be a celebration of Travis's life November 15, 2014 at Cremation Society, 1935 Juan Tabo N.E. Albuquerque. The celebration will begin at 10 am. Please wear your most comfortable clothes. ROEPKE, VIOLET ELVIRA age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2014. She was born in Hibbing, MN on May 10, 1919 to Eiler Jensen and Edith Cook. Vi grew up in Ironwood, MI, where she helped in her family's dairy. After high school in Ironwood, she received a business degree from Marquette College. She met her husband, Myron Roepke, in the church choir in Lakeside Lutheran Church, Milwaukee, MI. They sang together in church choirs for 66 years before his death in 2004. Vi and Myron raised three sons, Craig, Kurt, and Karl. She is survived by three granddaughters, Kelly Roepke-Borth, Tara Roepke, and Tatiana Freundlich and a grandson, Kiel Roepke. She was great-grandmother to two great-granddaughters, Kayla and Rebecca, and to two great-grandsons, Ryan and Aaron. She served as president of the Cosmopolitan Women's Club and the Albuquerque Garden Club. Vi was very involved with many public service organizations. Among her favorites were the Carrie Tingley Childrens Hospital, and the Albuquerque Hearing and Speech Center. A Celebration of Vi's life will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Menaul Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. A reception will follow the service. SANCHEZ, PATRICIA Patricia "Patsy" C. Sanchez was called by our Lord on Friday, November 7, 2014. Patsy was a resident of Mora where she was born on February 24, 1926. Patsy spent her younger years growing up in Mora and upon graduation moved to Las Cruces to attend New Mexico State University where she graduated with a degree as a dietician. Shortly after that she entered the order of the Sisters of Charity and was active for over 20 years until she came home to care for her elderly parents. During her years in the order she spent time in Helena, Montana and Topeka, Kansas. After her return she worked in her father's abstract office and at the NM Behavioral Institute in Las Vegas, NM. She was preceded in death by a niece, Jean Montoya Geddings (Ron); her parents, Philip N. Sanchez and Emma Sanchez; her sister, Juliette S.Van Sicklen; brother, Philip (Babo) C. U. Sanchez; and her sister-in-law, Evangeline (Vangie) Sanchez. Patsy is survived by her many friends, relatives, and nieces and nephews: Patty Garcia (Roger), Phyllis Martinez (John), A. Louis Sanchez (Diana), Philip G. Sanchez (Eliza), and Pat D. Sanchez, as well as several great nieces and nephews. SWITENDICK, ALFRED C. Age 83, peacefully passed away after a short illness on November 10, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Mildred Bittner; daughters, Lesley Switendick and husband Kevin Keilbach and Suzanne Gourlay and husband Garrett; step-sons, Thomas Bittner and Michael Bittner; grandchildren, Saiyora, DanQi, Miette, Callan, and William; and his first wife, Judith Evans. Al was born in Batavia, New York and received his PhD. from MIT in 1963 and was discharged from the United States Army at a 1st. Lt. in 1964. He then went on to work for and retired from Sandia Laboratories. Al and Mildred enjoyed years of traveling and spending time with their grandchildren. VIGIL, GUADALUPE Guadalupe Vigil, born in Puerto de Luna, NM on July 25, 1927 to Antonio Sandoval and Candida Sandoval-Maestas, died peacefully in her home Saturday, November 8, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Vivian Vigil and Rachel Cannon; sisters, Petra Lucero and Miquela Dodge; and two brothers, Jose and Eduardo Sandoval. She is survived by Juan Sandoval and his wife, Isabell; Jesus and his wife, Agueda; her sister, Victoria Line; two sons, Joseph Van Vigil and Vincent Vigil, and his wife, Teslin; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. Guadalupe was a member of Queen of Heaven Parish for many years. WENNEKAMP, ALBERT "CHUCK" Beloved father, grandfather, and brother, unexpectedly joined his wife Helen in heaven on Saturday, November 8, 2014, three months after his seventy-fifth birthday. Since 1973, Chuck resided in Albuquerque, NM. Chuck is survived by his sons, Curt and wife, Veronica of Lakeland, TN, Daniel and wife, Trudy of Sauk Rapids, MN, Wynn and wife, Jennifer of Adair, OK, and Wayne and wife, Jennifer of San Jose, CA; eight grandchildren, Lydia, Mae, Nathan, Chrissy, Andrew, Elizabeth, Elam and Carsten; brother, Richard of Manhattan Beach, CA; and sister, Eve Ohlinger of Scottsdale, AZ. He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Christine of Albuquerque, NM; and brother, Larry of Long Beach, CA. Chuck was born on August 13, 1939 in Long Beach, CA, to Albert Martin and Eva Wennekamp. He was the first freshman recipient of the Long Beach Community College Vike of the week award and went on to receive a football scholarship to the University of Idaho. He graduated from the University of Idaho in 1962 with a degree in electrical engineering. He married Helen Christine Wennekamp, the love of his life, in 1961. Chuck was hired by General Electric straight out of college, and retired after 42 years. During their 48 years of marriage, Chuck and Helen welcomed four children into their home and Chuck set about teaching them to analyze problems and to think their way through them. The children remember him as a patient father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Chuck was a generous man who loved driving his RV around the country to visit his family and enjoy University of Idaho Alumni events. He had a passion for trains, whether riding steam trains, repairing locomotives for charity, or building model trains. Chuck was a long time member of Oasis Family Church and was active in children's ministry throughout his marriage to "Hallelujah Helen." We will remember his life on Friday, November 14, 2014, 10:00 a.m., at Grace Outreach Center in Rio Rancho, NM. Pastor Terry Mathews will officiate the ceremony.
