BACA, JOSEPH JR. (JOEY) age 28, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2014. Joey is survived by his parents, Joseph A. and Lillian Baca; the love of his life, Leah Vaisa; sons, Isaiah and Santos; grandparents, Ponciano and Candelaria (Lala) Lucero; aunts and uncles, Leo and Pricilla Gurule, Patricia Hampsten, Matthew and Phyllis Lucero, Santos Jr. and Kathy Baca, Conrad and Annette Maez, Steve and Nancy Chavez; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Joey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Santos and Mary Baca; and uncle, Isaac (Iceman) Sanchez. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Church of the Ascension Catholic Church, 2150 Raymac Rd. SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Gil Santistevan. Final visitation will be Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Los Padillas Cemetery. CASAUS, MARY JANE Age 89, a resident of Rio Rancho, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 18, 2014. She is survived by her children, Dory Casaus and wife, Linda, Mark Casaus and wife, Mary Carol, Sheree Castillo and husband, Tony; grandchildren, David Casaus, Anthony Casaus, Vincent Castillo, Aaron Castillo, Patrick Castillo, Andrea Simms, Christina Rodriguez, Amanda Casaus and Nicole Casaus; and great-grandchildren Victoria, Alex, Luke, Dawson, Emeric, Genevieve, Riley, Abraham and Michael. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charles T. Casaus. Mary Jane retired in 1985 after 42 years with the VA Hospital. She enjoyed playing bingo and met her husband while playing bingo. She was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and always lent a helping hand and never wanted anyone to do without. She made sure all the family knew they were loved. She really loved watching the old classic movies. Rosary will be recited Wednesday, October 22, 2014, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. with Visitation two hours prior at FRENCH-Lomas Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 23, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on Lomas and Tennessee. Interment will follow at Mt. COLLINS, MARGARET MAXWELL Died peacefully in Albuquerque, NM on October 19, 2014 at the age of 73 after a battle with cancer. Margaret is survived by her daughter, Sandra J. Collins; son, Samuel K. Collins, Jr. both of Albuquerque, NM; sister, Lucy Eatmon (Curtis) of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren, Brandan Jacob Giles (Christina) and Carl Christopher Collins of Roswell, NM; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy June Dabney; and by both parents. Margaret was born on April 11, 1941 in Eddy, TX to Aaron and Gladys Maxwell. She married S.K. Collins in 1959 in Roswell, NM (divorced 1978). Margaret began her career in nursing as an LPN in 1968. She then attended ENMU-Roswell and was awarded the designation of an RN in 1970. Margaret then attended and graduated from the University of New Mexico as a nurse practitioner specializing in women's healthcare in 1973. She began working for the State of New Mexico Department of Health at the Chaves Health Office in 1970, eventually serving as a Nurse Practitioner specializing in women's healthcare. She retired from SoNM in 2002 and in 2007 moved to Albuquerque, NM to be near her children. Margaret spent her life working with the youth of Chaves County. She served on many community boards of non-profit organizations and was a faithful member of Beulah Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Roswell, NM. She was a kind individual who loved people and was passionate about helping others. Margaret wanted to especially thank her friend and former co-worker Mary Mendoza for caring for her during her illness and for being a good friend. A funeral is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2014, 3:00 p.m., at FRENCH - Westside, with a reception to follow. DEMONTINEY, JOHN "CHIEF STANDING" John DeMontiney, a long-time resident of Albuquerque, died October 17, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Theo; his children, Delaine DeMontiney of Rocky Boy, MT, John (Cinder ) DeMontiney of Toppenish, WA, Ted (Roxanne) DeMontiney of Rocky Boy, MT, Joe Walter DeMontiney of Hulbert, OK, Cindy (Walter) White of San Bernadino, CA; his sister, Ella Joan Morales of San Diego, CA; several nieces and nephews; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Peter; his beloved brother, Joe; his beloved sisters, Margaret, Mary Jane and Julia; and his granddaughter, Sydalia. John was raised on the Rocky Boy Reservation and was a proud member of the Chippewa-Cree tribe from Rocky Boy, MT. John received his Master's Degree in Civil Engineering from U.N.M. John retired from the U.S. Dept. of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs, in 1989 with combined civilian and military service of 32 years as a Supervisory Highway Engineer. John served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1953. John was a member of the American Legion, Post 0100 in Albuquerque and a lifetime member of DAV. John was very active in politics: tribal, local and federal. That was his passion. John will be greatly missed by his family and friends near and far. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 10:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. MCWHORTER, LOLA MAE Age 78, went to be with her Lord and her heavenly family at 10:11 pm on Saturday, October 18, 2014. She was born in Pie Town, NM on May 12, 1936, to Ray and Margery MaGee McKinley. Lola grew up in Pie Town where she attended elementary school and graduated from Quemado High School in Quemado, NM. She married John Frank McWhorter on May 21, 1955 and to this union were born 4 children - Linda Darnel, Michael Lee, Larry Morris and Lucinda Raye. Lola was a member of the Eastern Star and the Eagles Club. She volunteered at the Thrift Store - a job she loved and worked at for over 20 years. She and Frank owned the Montgomery Ward Catalog in Socorro for many years and after that closed, they opened the Appliance Store. Lola was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law and grandmother and was the hub of the family. Anytime a baby was born, an illness in the family occurred, etc., Lola took care of us all. She was known as Baby Grandma. She leaves and empty spot in this family and this world and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, Mike McWhorter; brothers, William McKinley, Johnny McKinley, and Tommy Lee McKinley; sisters, Exlee Theiss and Deanne Johnson and husband, James; sister-in-law, Lillian McKinley. Lola is survived by her daughters, Linda Rosales and husband, Mario, and Lucinda Curry and companion, Alan; her son, Larry McWhorter and wife Mary; brothers, Bobby McKinley and wife, Coy and Frankie McKinley and wife, Susie; sister-in-law, Judy McKinley; brother-in-law, Melvin Theiss; and seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; and various nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will take place at Kelly Hall at the Socorro County Fairgrounds in Socorro on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 10:30 am. MONTOYA, ELSIE LORRAINE born on December 20, 1938 in Taos, NM, passed away on October 16, 2014. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Nick Montoya; parents Jacob and Ethel Hammond; brother Oscar Hammond; and sister Patricia Gonzales. Elsie is survived by three sons, Ernest Tafoya, John Tafoya and wife Anne, Steve Tafoya and wife Judy; daughter Teresa Paques; eight grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister Irene Romero; brother Charles Hammond; and ex-husband Ernestino Tafoya. TORRES, FLOYD MITCHELL EARL Age 73, beloved and devoted husband, dad, and papa, was embraced by the Lord, Saturday, October 18, 2014, while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on September 15, 1941. Floyd served his country in the United States Marine Crop during the Viet Nam war. He was a member of the American Legion Post #13, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Purple Heart, and the Disabled American Veterans. Floyd retired after 22 years of service from the Albuquerque Fire Department. Floyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, gardening; and especially spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lazaro and Petra Torres; his brother, John Torres; sister, Pearl Garcia; son-in-law, Major Jeff Ausborn; and nephew/Godson, Daniel Baldonado. Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Dora Torres; his wonderful daughters, Julie Dee Torres, Suzanna Ausborn, and Denise Lucero and husband Jose; his precious grandchildren, Mitchell Maloy and wife Nicole, Summer Maloy, and Alexander Lucero. Also surviving are is siblings, June Gonzales, Dorothy LaMondy and husband Walter, Mabel Gutierrez, George Torres and wife Carol, Mary Padilla and husband Leroy, Pauline Shannon and husband John; sister-in-law, Mela Torres; special in-laws, Norbert and Patsy Baldonado, Rita Chavez, LeeRoy and Theresa Lucero; numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Floyd will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those whose hearts he touched.
