ABDALLA, INA L. Who would have been 96 years old next month, died early on the morning of Monday, September 22, 2014. She was born in Anson, TX on October 24, 1918. Ina lived her early years on a cotton farm in West Texas. She played basketball on her Whitharral Texas High School team. Ina was a lifelong enthusiastic basketball fan and for many years, she was a lobo season ticket holder. After high school graduation, she enrolled in cosmetology school in Lubbock, TX. Her first job as a hairdresser took her to Magdalena, NM where she met her future husband John Abdalla, to whom she was married for over fifty years. He passed in 1990. In 1940, the family moved to Santa Rosa, NM, where in addition to being a full time hair dresser, she was active in helping to initiate the first hot lunch program in Santa Rosa Public Schools. Moving to Albuquerque in 1960, Ina continued her profession as a hairdresser with a short venture into real estate. After retirement, Ina joined a group of genealogy researchers working in both Albuquerque and the State of Archives in Santa Fe. This group became fast friends and she treasured their company and friendship. Ina was an avid gardener whose passion was neatness and order. She was known as a true matriarch who wielded firmness, sometimes tempered with generosity. Ina is survived by her sisters, Aleta Grey and Bobbie Brock; her two children, Nick Abdalla and wife Susan Spring, Ann Alls and husband Sonny; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. After cremation her remains will be buried next to her husband at Santa Fe National Cemetery. At Ina's request there will be a private family commemoration of her life. ABEITA, ANGUS E. Angus "Gus" Abeita, 62, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Gus was born in Albuquerque to Diego Abeita and Mary Sarracino Abeita of Old Laguna, NM. In his life, Gus was an explorer who loved to travel and learn about different cultures and people. He lived in many places around the country in his early adult life and later in his professional career as a social worker working with Native American communities advancing policy for health, including child welfare and mental health. Throughout his professional career he always was in a position of helping people, from counseling individuals to helping to develop national policy. He was an Alumni of Albuquerque High School (1970), Rutgers University (1984), and NM Highlands (MSW 2000). He is survived by his three children, Mayera Abeita (Los Angeles, CA), Jessica Abeita (Boston, MA), and Jared Heller-Abeita (Albuquerque, NM); and his siblings, Cindy Ridenour, Evelyn Duran, Ethel Abeita, Bernadette Lorenzo, Madeline Winsand, Petra Eagle, Georgia Martinez, Mary Zuni, and Bernard Abeita; as well as 14 nieces and seven nephews. BALFOUR, LILLIAN CATHERINE LUCKETT January 28, 1921 - September 14, 2014 Lillian Catherine Luckett Balfour, age 93, of Los Lunas, NM, passed away September 14, 2014 at the Belen Meadows Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. Lillian was born on January 28, 1921 in Birmingham, Alabama, the daughter of the late Leonard and Harris Luckett. While still a child, the Luckett family moved from Birmingham to El Paso, TX, where Lillian stayed through high school graduation. After high school, Lillian and her sister Lola moved to Albuquerque, NM, where she remained until the age of 88 when she moved in with her niece, Gayla Thomason, in Los Lunas, NM. Needing medical care, Lillian then moved to the Belen Meadows Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in May of 2014, where she remained until her passing. Lillian married Douglas Balfour in Albuquerque, NM, in 1948, and was blessed with the birth of a son, Bruce Balfour, in 1951. Lillian worked as a librarian at Sandia National Labs until her retirement in 1983. Lillian enjoyed being with her dogs, collecting coins, and sweepstaking. Lillian is survived by her two grandchildren, Courtney Balfour, of Dallas, TX, and Casey Balfour, of Austin, TX; her great-granddaughter, Haley Ann Simmons, of Dallas, TX; her two nieces, Arlene Horne, and her partner, Carlton Cann, of Greenville, TX, and Gayla Thomason, of Los Lunas, NM; and three nephews, Tom Horne and his wife, Linda, of Austin, TX, Paul Skotchdopole and his wife Yolanda, of Las Vegas, NM, and Phil Holtam and his wife Merilee, of Layton, Utah. Lillian was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Balfour, who passed away in 2001; her sister, Lola Skotchdopole, who passed away in 2005; her other sister, Virginia, who passed away in 1952; and her two nephews, Doug Horne, who passed away in 2011, and Mark Skotchdopole, who passed away in 2012. An informal memorial service was held at the home of her niece, Gayla Thomason, in Los Lunas, NM, on September 20, 2014. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

BEARE, RITA CECILIA (ABEYTA) 81, born in Bosque, New Mexico, April 16, 1933 and was the first of two children born to Sylvester and Lusela Abeyta of Belen, New Mexico, passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2014, after a long, brave battle with cancer. Goodness and love did follow her all the days of her life and now may she dwell in the house of our lord forever. She grew up, along with her brother Ben, in Belen and later attended school in Albuquerque. Rita is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Deacon Harry(Bill) Beare; children, Patrick Beare and wife, Rosemary, Phyllis Montoya and husband, Randy, Anna Beare and husband, Vincent Tufo, Andrew Beare and wife, Tammy, Paul Beare and wife, Carol, Teresa Montoya and husband, Paul, and Lisa Martinez and husband, Matthew; her brother, Benito Abeyta and wife, JoAnn; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren and all of the spouses that were honored to be part of her family; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Rita married her sweetheart, Harry (Bill) Beare after high school and they would be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Throughout the years, she was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend as well as a loyal servant to her church community at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Rita will always be remembered as a woman of unwavering faith in God, steadfast devotion to her family and quiet dignity and modesty in all that she did. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Lusela Abeyta. BERGEN, TRUDY L. Trudy L. Bergen, age 61, a resident of Albuquerque since 1995, died on September 16, 2014 after a brief illness. Trudy was born in Bakersfield, CA to Harry L. Bergen and Thelma Mae Bishop Bergen, and grew up in Maricopa, Paso Robles, and Bakersfield. She attended Foothill High School in Bakersfield, graduating in 1970. The summer before her junior year, she attended a National Science Foundation program in mathematics at the University of Illinois, where she met her future husband, Don Keenan. She pursued her education at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA, as one of the first women admitted, and received a BS in Mathematics in 1974. She worked for The Aerospace Corporation from 1981 until her retirement in 2008, transferring to the Albuquerque office in 1995. An avid recreational bicyclist, Trudy was a member of the New Mexico Touring Society and led several regular bike rides. She loved travel, and she and her husband participated in many bike tours in the U.S. and abroad. She and Don also formed a dedicated, if minimally skilled, ice dance couple, working for many years with their coach, the late Mary Walston. Easy access to Santa Fe and Taos enabled Trudy to improve her telemark skiing and attend the Santa Fe Opera regularly. She was an exceptionally skilled quilter, and taught many others the craft. She is preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Don Keenan. She is survived by a large circle of family and devoted friends. A memorial celebration will be held on October 26, 2014. BRAND, CARL E. Carl E. Brand, husband, father and grandfather, age 83, passed away peacefully with family and close friends by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 56 years, Loretta; daughter, Melissa Sanchez and husband, Esteban; grandsons, Steven Sanchez and Ethan Sanchez; sisters, Carolyn Gleisberg, and Henrietta Mueller and husband Carl; nieces and nephews, David Gleisberg, Kristine Gleisberg, Steven Mueller and wife Michelle, and Kristen Mueller, along with extended family members and friends. Carl was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Edward Brand and Karla Biesemeier on June 13, 1931. Following high school, he proudly served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After his time in the service, Carl met Loretta on a blind date and they were soon married. They moved to Albuquerque in 1959 and built a life and raised a family. Carl received his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of New Mexico and worked for Albuquerque Public Schools as a physical education and classroom teacher for 25 years. He was passionate about eating healthy, exercising, playing handball/ racquetball, and early morning bike rides. In his free time, he and his family would travel in their campers and explore new places. CLIFTON-ALVAREZ, VIRGINIA (GINNY) 83, passed away on September 23, 2014. She was born in Ocala, Florida on February 28, 1931. Ginny earned her BA in Speech and Marketing from the University of Florida and was a proud member of Sigma Kappa Beta Sorority. She shared her many talents working for Revlon Cosmetics, was a Social Worker in what was BCMC, Farmers Insurance Agent, and officially retired with her final job working at Jean'ne's Gift Store. Ginny was a lifelong vocalist singing with the Albuquerque Civic Light Opera, Gridiron Singers, was active in the Albuquerque Little Theater, and sang on a number of occasions for the Governor's prayer breakfast as well as many private engagements. She is survived by son Brad Clifton of Albuquerque, Mike and wife Melanie Clifton of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Jeff and wife Lorri Clifton of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Brett Clifton of Ft. Worth, TX, Holly and husband A.J. Crisp of Cleburne, TX, Adam Raby of North Carolina, Jesse and wife Caitlin Clifton of Albuquerque; great-granddaughter Twila Clifton; her brother Dr. B.J. Meadows of Atlanta; nieces Kathi Cool, Lindi Meadows, Elizabeth LeDuc, and nephew B.J. Meadows III. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Jefferson and Gladys Meadows, and husband, George Alvarez. CONRAD, JOHN Born January 29, 1960 in Albuquerque, died Monday, September 15, 2014 from a sudden illness. John was preceded in death by his father Clarence Conrad and brother Mark Conrad; grandparents Clarence and Loretta Conrad and Norman and Josephine Plymale; uncles Jim Plymale and Dick Radtke and aunt Joan Nicholas. John is survived by his mother Carolyn Conrad; sister, Lorie Rooney and brother-in-law Tim Rooney; aunts, Dawna Radtke, Janet Roush and Phyllis Fairchild; uncles, Paul Johnson, Dick Plymale and Gary Plymale; close cousins, Judy and Bill Nail, Penny and Brent, Cindy and Ronn Brigham and Jaymie; pet, Pedro; and many friends and out of state cousins. John was a successful and accomplished salesman and sole proprietor in construction. He was very personable and had a great sense of humor. He loved the outdoors, fishing and outings with family and friends. John had a huge heart and was always willing to help others in any way he could. He will be sadly missed by many and has left an irreplaceable emptiness in many lives. COX, MADELINE D. Madeline D. Cox, age 89, of Albuquerque, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014. She was born on July 28, 1925 in Las Cruces, NM to Joe and Mabel (Johnson) Dickerson. Madeline was raised in Las Cruces where her family was in the farming business. In 1951, she married Thomas Anthony Ricci (Tom) in Las Cruces. They later divorced and she subsequently married Thomas Russell Cox (Tommy). Madeline and Tommy lived in Gillette, WY, Socorro, NM, and Albuquerque, NM during their 28 year marriage. Madeline held various secretarial positions during her career. Her last as an Executive Secretary for McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Co. at Cape Canaveral, FL which she retired from in 1977. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Albuquerque and was also an avid Chicago Cubs Baseball fan. Madeline, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and auntie, will be missed more than her family can describe. Even through the most difficult times, she would never complain, always had a smile on her face and open arms to give all of us a big hug. Madeline is survived by her sons, Jamie Ricci and wife Sandy of Albuquerque, Joe Ricci and wife Janet of New Port Richey, FL; grandchildren, Lisa Chavez and husband Mark, Jerec Ricci, Jason Ricci and wife Kelsey, Jenna Ricci; and great-grandchildren, Michael, Louis and Jane. DOUGLASS, WILLIAM M. BRIGADIER GENERAL 23 February 1942 - 19 September 2014 Brigadier General William M. Douglass passed away on 19 September after losing his struggle with Alzheimer's Disease. General Douglass was born in Belen, N.M., in 1942, and graduated from Belen High School in 1960. After graduating from the US Air Force Academy in 1964, the general attended pilot training at Laredo Air Force Base, Texas, where he married his high school sweetheart, the former Irene Radcliffe of Belen. In June 1970, he left to fly 202 combat missions in the F-4 out of Phu Cat Air Base, South Vietnam. His 33 yr AF career took him to assignments in Germany, AZ, South Korea, N.M., Turkey, England, GA, and the Pentagon. After 9 more years in the private sector, General Douglass and his wife retired to Corrales, NM, where he served on the Compadres board and volunteered at the Visitor's Center. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, with a brilliant mind, a quick wit and a huge heart. He loved flying, movies, classic country music, playing poker, spending time with his family and friends and traveling with his wife. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Irene; his son Ted; his daughter-in-law Jenny; his grandson Jonah; his granddaughters Tess and Tatum; his son Bill; his daughter-in-law Betsy; his grandson Liam and granddaughter Clare. A memorial service is scheduled for 18 Oct at 11 a.m. at Eagle Ranch Church located at 9660 Eagle Ranch Rd, Suite 6. She was born in Delta, CO on July 12, 1925 to Gaylord A. and Mary Frances (Bradshaw) Burt. She is survived by her loving family members and a host of friends to whom she remained close. GALINDRO, PABLO age 88, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2014. Mr. Galindro is survived by his children, Lucy Baca and husband, James, Pauline Rodriguez and husband, Mike, Steve Galindro, Dan Galindro, Mike Galindro and wife, Elizabeth, Tony Galindro and wife, Shari, Amada Lorraine Torres, and Margaret Dickson and husband, Frank; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; former daughters in law, Eva Garcia, Emily Galindro, Laura Galindro, Lori C'Nare, and Linda Wright; a good friend, Wade Young; many other extended family members. Mr. Galindro was preceded in death by his wife, Amada; great-grandson, Alexander Orion Hull; brothers, Joe and Herman; and his sister, Kathryn. GIOMBOLINI, RUTH MARIE Ruth Marie Giombolini, age 91, of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 after a long illness. Ruth was born on November 6, 1922 in Bessemer, MI to Steve and Susan (Stefanik) Fodor. She was raised in Iron River, MI where she attended schools. She attended the University of Michigan and finished her education degree at Texas Western (UTEP) in El Paso. She earned her Master's of Education degree from the University of New Mexico. She worked at an ammunition plant during World War II, a telephone operator during the Korean War and was a teacher for 25 years at Roosevelt Elementary School in Gallup, NM. She was an avid birder and nature lover and a HUGE University of Michigan fan! She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Giombolini in 1995; two brothers, Bob and Norman Fodor; and her parents. She is survived by her son, Fred Giombolini and his wife Lisa of Albuquerque; daughters, Sally McNatt and husband Ronald of Albuquerque and Susan Giombolini of Jacksonville, FL; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. GONZALES, LORENZO R. August 31, 1931 - September 22, 2014 Lorenzo R. Gonzales, 83, known to many as "Wero" passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2014. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Lucille and his parents Rufino and Mela Gallegos. He is survived by his sons: Robert Anthony, Gabriel Thomas, and Lawrence Paul and wife Geraldine; his daughters: Katherine Jaramillo and Elizabeth Ann Gonzales; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; his brother Paul and wife Frances; and one niece and two nephews. JONES, MONTE R. Age 51, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on August 25, 1963, to Errol Dean and Joyce Gail (Baker) Jones. He was preceded in death by his father, Errol Dean Jones; and a sister, Casey Kathleen Jones. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 20 years, Michelle Renee Jones; son, Hunter Jones; mother, Gail Jones; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Daniel and Dula Gutierrez; sister-in-law, Noreen Denise Daugherty; many close family members and friends. Mr. Jones was a lifelong New Mexican, graduating from Kirtland Central High School in 1981 and New Mexico State University in 1987 with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. He began his career in law enforcement with Albuquerque Public Schools and retired as a Sergeant from Rio Rancho Police Department in 2010. Currently, he was a security officer for Rio Rancho Public Schools. He, also enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. JONES, PAUL JOHN age 62, of Albuquerque, died at home on Thursday, August 7, 2014. Paul was born in Washington, DC on October 8, 1951 to Sylvester William and Helen Frances (Osman) Jones. Paul is survived by his wife, Beth (Haycock); his brothers Robert (Annette) of Fredericksburg, VA; William (Marianne) of Lansdale, PA; John (Ranee) of North Las Vegas, NV; thirteen cousins and his beloved dogs Lulu and Katy. Paul graduated from Monrovia High School in Monrovia, CA. Because of his low draft number, # 5, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After twenty years he retired with the rank of Master Sergeant as an Aircraft Metal Systems Supervisor. At the time of his death, Paul was employed by Integration Inc. as a Sr. Mechanical Engineering Technician. Paul will be remembered for his interest in music, his computer skills, his sense of humor and his generosity. KELLY, HOWARD GUYNN age 90, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2014. A resident of Albuquerque for 48 years, he was born on May 22, 1924 in Midlothian, Texas and grew up in Waxahachie, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Mary, in 1997, and by his parents, Joseph Howard and Ora Roe Kelly. He is survived by three children: Jim (Charlene), Carolyn, and John (Jennifer); six grandchildren: Steve Kelly (Kathy), Mike Kelly (Heidi), Lauren Moore (Brian), Lindsey Degenhart (Nick), Leia Vetter (Nick), and Robert Kelly; and five great-grandchildren: Sara, Julia, Sam, Luke, and Everett. He graduated from Trinity University and served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant JG during WWII. He worked for Sears-Roebuck for approximately 25 years in Texas and Albuquerque, rising to the position of store manager. Admired for his excellent carpentry and handyman skills, he delighted in helping family and neighbors with a variety of projects. He was known for being an ever-willing raconteur and a dedicated, energetic advisor to friends and family; and he made some of the best homemade ice cream in town. Special thanks to the staff at Home Care Assistance, Beehive Village (Wilshire Ave.), and Hospice Compassus in Albuquerque. The family will hold a private service in the coming weeks to honor his life and spread his ashes.

LEVY, JUAN CARLOS Juan Levy passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 leaving his loving wife, two sons and his grandson/best friend along with his much loved extended family and friends. Born to Julia and Rolf Levy on August 3, 1945 in Bogota, Colombia, Juan was the 2nd of five children (older brother Miguel and younger sisters Magda, Beatriz and Patricia). Following Miguel to the United States, Juan left Colombia to attend college in Indiana in 1965. As a student, Juan moved around the western United States ultimately settling in Albuquerque to finish his schooling at UNM. While a student at UNM, he met the love of his life, Kathy Cravens. In 1973, Juan and Kathy moved to Bogota, where they were married on April 27. They returned to Albuquerque for good ahead of the birth of their first son in 1975. Over the 40 years he lived in Albuquerque, Juan raised his boys, built a successful career and surrounded himself with friends and family. Honesty and loyalty are the values by which Juan lived and defined himself; honesty in how he lived his life and loyalty for those who shared it with him. He was a great friend, an amazing dad and even better grandfather, but most of all he was a husband who loved his wife. He will be missed by all who knew him.

MARTIN, STANLEY RICHARD Age 68, a long time resident of Rio Rancho, passed away September 23, 2014 at home, surrounded by family after an eight month battle with cancer. Born in Portland, OR he was raised close to the water in both Oregon and Washington. He loved the scenic coast of the Pacific NW and the salty smell of the beaches along that coastal stretch. Stan proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years. He started his lifelong career as a seaman and worked his way through the ranks retiring as LCDR in 1993. Returning to his wife's hometown of Albuquerque he began a second career in contracting. A job he enjoyed almost up to the end. He was very active with Mirador until he retired due to his illness two weeks before his passing. He was also a member of the Masons. As a graduate of the University of Wyoming, College of Education, she enjoyed teaching for several years before her marriage to Robert Alexander McKay in 1950. She is survived by her beloved family, her husband of 64 years, Robert Alexander McKay; her daughter, Cathy Sorenson and husband, Duane and their daughter, Amy Gee and husband Robert and their son, Easton; her son, Brian A. McKay; her son, Scott R. PALMATEER, HAROLD CHARLES JR. Harold Charles Palmateer passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on Thursday, September 18, 2014. Born in Long Island, New York, he and his beloved wife of 72 years, Mary, raised their 4 children in Warwick, RI. In 1976, they relocated to northern California; in 1990, they relocated again to Albuquerque. He was preceded from this life by: his parents; his brother (George Palmateer); his son (John Palmateer); son-in-law (Gilbert Barratt); three infant grandchildren; and many friends and relatives. He is survived and missed by: his 75-year-long partner in life and wife of 72 years, Mary; daughter Linda Barratt of Albuquerque; daughter Karen Boman (Mark) of Albuquerque; daughter Janet Tempel (Scott) of Mt. Aukum, CA; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; twi great-great-grandchildren. He was born and raised in Bernalillo where he attended and graduated from the Catholic school. He later attended and graduated from nursing school in Albuquerque and was a nurse in the Albuquerque area for 40 years. He is survived by his sisters Dorothy Sena and Helen Murolo; his brother Frank Peternel Jr.; and his friend Larry Carter. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

PETERSON, DAN A. Dan A. Peterson, 84, a resident of Winter Park, Florida passed away on September 17, 2014 due to complications from Parkinson's Disease. Dan died at his summer home in Cashiers, North Carolina with his beloved wife Gina by his side. Dan was born to Dan and Lois Peterson in Holton, Kansas and was raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1948 and attended the University of New Mexico where he received his BS and Master's degree. While attending the University of New Mexico, Dan played football for the UNM Lobos in 1948 and 1949 and was a member of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He also served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War. Mr. Peterson spent over 40 years in the aerospace industry. He began his early years with Douglas Aircraft and Thiokol Chemical, a leader in rocket propulsion systems. He was subsequently transferred into Thiokol's Marketing organization, spending several years in Thiokol's Washington and Western Regional Offices. He joined Martin Marietta in 1968, in its Orlando Aerospace operation as marketing director. He spent nearly 30 years at Martin Marietta, now Lockheed Martin, in a number of senior positions. In 1990, Mr. Peterson was made Senior VP of Martin Marietta's Washington Operations, where he remained until his retirement as a Corporate Officer of Lockheed Martin in 1996. While an executive of Lockheed Martin, Mr. Peterson was directly involved in a number of economic development activities. In New Mexico, he was Chairman of the Technology Ventures Corporation, a non-profit company funded by Lockheed Martin with a mission to help Sandia National Laboratory transfer it's technology to the private sector. He also was twice Chairman of New Mexico, Inc., a non-profit corporation with a mission to help small manufacturing companies in New Mexico and four other states. He also served as Director on two university boards with similar missions, the University of Pennsylvania at East Stroudsburg, PA, and Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia. After his retirement, Mr. Peterson was president of his own consulting firm and continued to consult for Lockheed Martin, and other companies. He also participated in several Defense Science Board studies for the U.S. Department of Defense, and was a member of the Transition Team for the Secretary of the U.S. Army. Dan will best be remembered for his dedication to hard work and his altruism for charitable works in the field of education. He had an innovative and keen mind, always full of energy and curiosity. Forgiving and patient by nature, combined with a love of life, made him a friend to all and a treasure to those close to him. He was a kind and loving soul. Besides his family and friends, his greatest joy was fly fishing. He fished many streams, but his favorite was the San Juan River in northern New Mexico! Dan also enjoyed a game of golf and watching his favorite football teams! REISDORF, KURT Age 53, peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family on Thursday, September 25, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Elma Reisdorf; children, Michael, Michelle, John and wife, Wilma and Aldrin; grandchildren, MiShyale, CJ, Julianna-Joy, Chrishelle and Jaleayah-Grace; mother, Marcella Ruth Reisdorf; siblings, Marcy, Kris, Albert, Rick, Alicia, John, Martha, Scott and Jerry. ROOKS, LAWRENCE MICHAEL Age 61, died Monday, September 22, 2014. Michael was preceded in death by his father Stanley Jim Rooks; sister Maralyn Mugan and brother Ronnie Rooks. SALAZAR, LORETTA DEVINE born 5/28/42, went to be with our Lord on 9/20/14. Loretta was preceded in death by her beloved parents Vincent and Atocha Devine, her most beloved son Jason and her brothers Jimmy and Carlos. Loretta is survived by her son Demetrio; daughter Ann; brother Vincent (Stella); sister Diana Devine; her grandsons Joshua, Jeremy, Gabrio, John Michael, Lawrence; and her granddaughters Angelique and Vanessa. She is also survived by her niece Pamela (Peaches) and nephews, D'Marcos (Patrick), Johnny, Marty, George, Greg and Anthony; and several great-grandchildren, many great-nieces and great-nephews. Loretta had a very special bond with her daughter-in-law Francine who cared for her with love and kindness. The family will always be grateful and appreciative for all that was done by Francine. Loretta was extremely giving, loving and always shared her generosity with all those that came in contact with her. Through all her trials and tribulations, Loretta maintained her faith and love of God. Rosary and Mass will be scheduled for a later date. Burial will take place in Mukilteo, Washington as per her wishes. Loretta was retired from New Mexico State Government, Boys Reintegration.

SEDILLO, ALFIDES Age 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 25, 2014. She was preceded in death by her parents Evangelisto and Domitila Sedillo and her brothers Herman, Roque, Gavino, Anselmo, Diego, and Justiniano Sedillo and nephew, Armando Sedillo. She is survived by her brother Felix Sedillo and 19 nephews and nieces and their families. SHOEMAKER, RUTH Ruth, age 92, passed unexpectedly on Sunday, September 21, 2014. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 74 years, Leroy; son, Paul; and two sisters, Erma and Edna. She is survived by her children, Marcella Pace, Nannette McCarty and Richard Shoemaker; nine grandchildren, Tammy, Robert, Joni, Levana, Bonnie, Eva, Jason, Steven, and Melissa; numerous great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Naomi and Cleo. Ruth was an active member of First United Methodist Church and St. Andrews United Methodist Church. She supported the Sacramento Methodist Assembly, Wesley Kids, and the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch. Ruth was blessed with many talents, including art, music, various types of needlework, and gardening. She was always kind and caring. SILVA, ELIZABETH L. Elizabeth "Betty" Silva, a resident of Albuquerque since 1985, passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Jose D. THOMAS, JOSEPH B. A resident of Albuquerque since 1978, passed away on September 17, 2014. He is survived by his parents, George B. and M. Douglas Thomas; and his siblings, Jerry S. Joe was employed by CEI, Inc. for 20 years and reached the position of Telecommunication Engineering Manager. Joe was a very proud member of AA and recently celebrated ten years with them. TROUTMAN, MAVIS KATHLEEN Age 67, passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at her home. She was a graduate of College of Marin and Sonoma State University. She was an artist, an avid antique collector and a loving mother and grandmother. Mavis is survived by her husband of 43 years, William G.Troutman; son, Kevin W. Troutman and his wife Shannon C. UTTER, MONNA VIRGINIA Monna, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died at home on September 4, 2014. She was 91. She is survived by her two children, Barbara Adkins of Albuquerque and Michael Utter (Kaylie) of Bozeman, Montana; five grandchildren, Sarah Brucker (Ryan), Rachel Adkins (Kurt Kasinoff), Uriel Utter, Jay Utter, Aurora Leichner (Tredec); three great-grandchildren, Lillian, Liam and Mark; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Calvin and Gene Dick, two husbands, Robert Stuart Maclagan who died in Burma in 1944, and Robert Utter who died in at home in Albuquerque in 2005. She was born at home in Entiat, Washington in 1922 and raised in Pomona, California. She returned to college when Stuart was sent to Asia by the Air Force 308th bomb group. In 1944 she graduated from Cal State Santa Barbara and began teaching in Long Beach, California. In 1947 she met and married Air Force Veteran Robert Utter, finishing up his PhD in Psychology at UCLA. In 1948 they moved to Albuquerque where Robert began teaching at UNM. Monna was a violin player and passionate about music all her life. She also loved teaching kindergarten and elementary school, which she did from 1957 to 1982 in the APS system. She was very active in service to the Albuquerque community. She was a member of the Albuquerque committee against discrimination in housing and the NAACP during the 50's and 60's; was active in the league of women voters as a voter registrar; legislative action coordinator for early childhood education standards. She served on the boards of Albuquerque Sister Cities, the Unitarian Church and of La Puerta De Los Ninos day care center. She was active in her precincts in the democratic party, and in the newly formed Albuquerque Teachers Federation. She was honored with United Nations human rights award in the 1960"s, an outstanding teacher of America award in 1972, a YWCA volunteer of the year award in 1988, a human rights bridge award in 1990, and a Governor's outstanding women of New Mexico award and many others. She was also a wonderful mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She lived a rich, full, fearless life. The last years of her life were spent caring for her mother, husband and great-grandchild. She was an example to everyone around her. We will always cherish her memory. A memorial service will be held on October 25th at the First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque at 3701 Carlisle Blvd. NE at 3:00pm.
