HYMEL, MICHELE ANN Michele Hymel, caring wife, nurturing mom and doting nana, passed away on April 9, 2014. She fought the good fight against a terrible cancer, and in the company of her loving family, she shed her mortal bonds and began a new and amazing journey. As Michele wished, she has been cremated. Her life force has been released, and she is now anywhere and everywhere. One need only look where nature's beauty endures, and she will be waiting for you. You might find her at sunset frolicking with dolphins in the glassy curl of a breaking wave. You might catch her leading a chevron of flying geese high above the bosque that cradles New Mexico's lifeblood. You will see Michele in the intricate patterns and dazzling fabrics of a handmade quilt. She never made enough quilts, and she kept creating almost to the end, driven by her love of the art and in spite of physical hardships. Michele wishes that no flowers be sent, as she enjoyed their vibrant blooms so much more when their roots were anchored firmly in the dirt. Plant a flower in her memory or make a donation, or lend a helping hand, or share a kind word. Michele invites all who know her and care for her to come together on May 19th at Elena Gallegos-Kiwanis at 10:00 am. After an informal but heartfelt memorial service, you are welcome to share in a bruchtime potluck in the foothills of the Sandias. She will be smiling as we celebrate a life lived well with stories that bring forth laughter and tears.
