MORELL, MARIE R. Marie Raphael (Rafe) Morell, OP. Born into this life January 15, 1928, in Grand Rapids, Michigan and entered into eternal life July 4, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marie Lapinski and William Morell; brother Ralph and sister Mary Ellan Baxter. She is survived by her siblings, Genevieve Andrews from Denver; Ted from Virginia and Granbury, TX; Marge Davis from Lakewood, CO, Jim and Jo Ann from Hot Springs Village, AK and Dennis from Calokill, NY. Also by nieces, nephews, countless friends and her Congregation, The Sinsinawa Dominicans. Sister Morell graduated from St. Mary elementary and high school in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She made her profession of Vows as a Dominican sister in 1947. She is a graduate of Edgewood College and received her masters degree from Seattle University. She received her Clinical Pastoral Education at Good Samaritan, Hospital in Phoenix, AZ. She is a certified Chaplain and member of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains. Prior to coming to Albuquerque in 1988 she taught in schools in Illinois, and Colorado and was an Associate Director in the office of Religious Education in the Archdiocese of Denver. Her Congregational leadership, includes Prioress of St. Dominic Villa and Provincial of the Southwest Province. In 1988 Sister Morell began her long tenure with St. Joseph Health Care System in Albuquerque where she ministered as Chaplain and director of spiritual services. Visitation will take place Monday, July 8, 2013 at 4:15 pm to 5:15 pm at Our Lady of Annunciation Church, 2621 Vermont St. NE, followed by Mass at 5:30pm. MOYA, ARTHUR Age 57, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on June 29, 2013. He died of cancer. He was a great man who everyone loved. He was maintenance manager at Coronado Mall for 25 years. Arthur graduated from Rio Grande High School. Some of his hobbies were mechanics, gun and car collecting. He left behind five children: Ted, Roxanne, Andrew, Rachael and Eric. He really loved being with family. He is also survived by three sisters Emily, Rose and Pauline; four brothers Gilbert, Andres, Freddy and Herman. Services will be held Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Chapel, 4001 Osuna Rd NE. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, 700 Yale Blvd. SE.

ANAYA-REHBERG, MAGDALENA Passed away July 5 at her beloved "Mi Tierra Encantada" in the Zuni Mountains. Magdalena was preceded in death by Magdalena and Felipe Chavez, Espiridiona and Santiago Anaya, Paulita Saavedra, and Angelina Ruiz. She is survived by her husband Daniel; daughters Amy and Katie Rehberg; son Charles Rehberg and wife Jennifer Lomeli; grandson Benjamin; siblings Josecito Chavez and wife Terry, Candelaria Trujillo and husband Joe, Elosia Padilla and husband Candelario, Sofia Anaya and husband Joe Sanchez; numerous great-great nieces and nephews and many, many friends. She received her Bachelors Degree from UNM, volunteered for "The Relay for Life" yearly, attended Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Albuquerque and San Lorenzo Mission in Ramah. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church (Fourth and Alameda). Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 9 at 9:00 a.m. at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE. BARICH, CHARLES HAROLD passed away on July 5, 2013 at the New Mexico Veteran's Home in Truth or Consequences. He was born on 9/25/1915 in Roslyn, WA and served in the Navy during World War II. He was a passionate golfer who played into his 90's, and won a gold medal at the New Mexico State Senior Olympics. Chuck made friends wherever he went and was greatly loved for his cheerful and positive outlook on life. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Gladys Twitty Barich and his four children, Sharon Grasst of Seattle, WA, Caroline Powers of Greensboro, NC, Charles R. Barich of Placitas, NM, and Sara Beth Barich of Albuquerque. His ashes will rest in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

CARGO, DAVID F., GOVERNOR 1929-2013 David Cargo, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away at the age of 84 on Friday, July 5, 2013. He was born in Dowagiac, Michigan, the eldest of three children born to Francis and Mary (Harton) Cargo. He earned his Bachelor's degree, Master of Public Administration and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan. He served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and moved to New Mexico to practice law in 1957. He served as a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from 1963 to 1966 before being elected as the state's youngest Governor at age 37 and served two terms between 1967-1971. As governor, Cargo "Lonesome Dave," started the first state film commission in the United States which has brought millions of dollars in revenue to the state of New Mexico. Cargo established ties to Hollywood and was even asked to appear in several films. In 1969, he made a cameo appearance in a Western "The Good Guys and the Bad Guys," and in 1971 appeared in "Bunny O'Hare" with Bette Davis and Ernest Borgnine. Cargo counted as accomplishments his creation of a Human Rights Commission and many libraries throughout the State of New Mexico. Survivors include five children, Veronica, David, Patrick, Elena and Eamon; as well as his five grandchildren, Kevin, Jordan Patrick, Reese, Maddie, and Kieran. He is also survived by his brother, Gerald Cargo, and wife, Barbara, of Syracuse, NY. He was preceded in death by his former wife, Ida Jo Anaya, and brother, John Cargo. Governor Cargo will lie in state in the Rotunda of the New Mexico State Capitol in Santa Fe on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow in the Rotunda at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 12, 2013, 10:00 a.m., at Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, 131 Cathedral Pl., Santa Fe. CHAVEZ, RAYMOND D. age 88, of Las Cruces was called home by the Holy Spirit to be with his Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, July 2, 2013. Ray, as he was fondly known to family and friends, passed away peacefully surrounded by love at La Posada - Mesilla Valley Hospice. Ray was born in Las Cruces on November 19, 1924 to Adelina Bombach who taught him his prayers and his strong Catholic faith. Ray graduated from Las Cruces Union High in May 1943. He attended New Mexico College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts, now known as NMSU. Ray worked for Mutual Building Savings and Loan, Dona Ana Savings and Loan, U. S. Agency of International Development, New Mexico Savings and Loan Commission under the late Governor David Cargo. Ray's greatest passion was for our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. He was a faithful member of St. Genevieve's Catholic Church. Ray is survived by his children, Frieda M. Chavez (Joe D. Valdez), Isaac V. Chavez (Minerva B. Chavez), Christina Chavez Kelley (Michael G. Kelley), and Vivian M. Frietze (O. Leonard Frietze); sister, Natalia Gonzales; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and the Holy Rosary for Ray will be recited at 10 AM Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina with a Memorial Mass to be celebrated by Father Ricardo Bauza immediately following the Holy Rosary. The Rite of Committal and Inurnment of cremains will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery where he will be laid to rest. Military honors will be accorded by a New Mexico Army National Guard Honor Guard and the Marine Corps League - El Perro Diablo Detachment. EILAR, JOHN S. DDS Age 86, of Albuquerque, died on Saturday, July 6, 2013. GABALDON, RUBEN A lifetime resident of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2013. Born August 28, 1962. He was preceded in death by father, Ruben Gabaldon. He is survived by his wife Connie Gabaldon; son Dominque and wife Jacquie; son Matthew and wife Anna; and son Andrew; his mother Elizabeth "Alice" Gabaldon; his sisters Nancy, Tammy, Kathy, Shirley, Ruby, and Pearl; brother Rick; his five grandchildren, Hailey, Jayden, Gabriel, Jace and Cruz; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a peaceful homebody who was loved and appreciated by all who knew him. He was known for his humbleness and love for all. He will be greatly missed.

GALLEGOS, TONY R. Age 70, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away in his home Friday, July 5, 2013 surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Emma; his two children: son, Lonnie and his fiancee, Beverly and daughter, Regina and husband, Jeff; grandson, James and wife, Natalie; granddaughter, Haley "Mijita"; and special god-daughter, Jessica. Also surviving him are siblings, Leroy, Gloria, Roberta and Mary and their families. He was a big man with a big heart who will be greatly missed and was loved by everyone. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 8:00 a.m., with a Memorial Mass following at 9:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos Rd NW.
