RIGGS, SHERALYN Our friend, Sheralyn Riggs, better known as Sherri, passed out of this life on January 11, 2013. She fought a fierce battle against cancer, enjoying life much longer than her doctor's would have imagined. She remained upbeat and made her decisions based on her beliefs and desires. Sherri loved photography, nature and creating something from nothing. She described herself as an artist rather than a scientist and indeed she was. Her many careers spanned from marine biologist, small business owner, professional photographer, landscape designer, and metal sculptor. Her most recent was a blacksmith, where she used "found art" recycling material to produce "future heirlooms". She was a member of SWABA, providing a role model for women in the blacksmithing world. Sherri was featured in the book "Passion and Power, Iron Artists in the Western US." Sheri was generous, freely teaching others and sharing her artistic visions. She was appreciated for her incredibly bright outlook on life, humor, insight and love. She was honest, caring and kept us on our toes, holding us to a higher standard. It was her wish, to have her friends remember her with a joyous, life-celebrating gathering at her home this spring, (date to be determined). Her free spirit should not be contained in just one place. We are confident that everywhere her essence comes back to earth will always be a place of peace, harmony and beauty. Her friends knew her as an independent and powerful woman. We will all miss her and be lessened by her absence. Our love and her memory will never fade.
