ALVARADO, FERNANDO R. age 93, a resident of Los Lunas, NM passed away peacefully with his wife and family by his side on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. He was born in Santa Clara, NM, November 21, 1919. Mr. Alvarado was preceded in death by his sons, Ruben Daniel Alvarado and Armando Alvarado. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Esperanza; three sons, Manuel and Delia, Ernest and Priscilla and Fernando and Linda; daughter, Mary; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A viewing for Mr. Alvarado will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Riverside Funeral Home Los Lunas Chapel, located at 820 Main St. NE. A final viewing will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 9:30 AM at Sangre De Cristo Catholic Church, located at 3470 State Hwy 47, Los Lunas, NM. CAMPOS, BONIFACIO BONES age 89, was born on October 22, 1923 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a supporter of the National World War II Memorial in Washington D.C. Our beloved father and grandfather was a World War II Veteran, who was at Utah Beach on D-Day. His Infantry Division was credited with flanking the enemy to give our troops a fighting chance to get off the Beaches of Normandy. The Ninth Infantry Division was also credited for capturing a howitzer long gun that helped keep the enemy at bay that same day. Bonifacio Bones Campos survived many battles in Europe. One battle he never liked talking about was the Battle of the Bulge. This was the first battle that he had to kill the enemy in hand to hand combat. In July of 1944 he earned his first Purple Heart and continued on to liberate France. His last tour took him from Europe to North Africa, where he and his fellow comrades defeated Romo. In his Military career he earned a Purple Heart and was also given the Bronze Star for his part in Keeping America Safe. All I can say is that our beloved father, grandfather was a true American hero and he will be missed by many. God speed, Bones and Rest in Paradise. Bones was preceded in death by his daughter Lupe Smith; son, Andy Campos and sister Julia Montoya. He is survived by his daughters Mary Gallegos, Janette Lowe and husband George and Joanne Campos; son, Joseph Campos; grandchildren, Ruben, Brenda, Yvette, Denise, Yasmine, Donald, Jerry Lee, Virginia Rose, Andy, Kenny and Roby; nineteen great grandchildren, seven great great-grandchildren as well as many other family and friends who loved and will miss him. A Rosary will be recited in the Chapel of Direct Funeral Services, 2919 4th St. NW. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 10:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 309 Stover Ave. S.W. on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 10:00am. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30pm. CASAUS, DERRICK "BOXER" Derrick, age 28, went into God's hands on Sunday, September 29, 2013. Derrick is survived by parents: Leroy and Anna Mae Casaus; sons: Xavier Casaus and Brandon Varoz; his daughter: Alaysia Casaus; and grandparents: Jerry and Leticia Webb. Derrick loved the Lord, was a godly christian man, who loved his family and everyone. He was a hard worker who had a way with people and was influential with his friends. He loved cars, sports, and boxing, in which he was trained by Johnny Tapia. Derrick had a heart of compassion who always wanted to make his parents proud. Derrick's Life Celebration will begin with a visitation on Friday, October 4th at the Reflections Funerals and Life Celebration Chapel (2400 Washington St. NE) starting at 9:00am. A Life Celebration service will start at 10:00am with a committal service following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. CHAVEZ, BENNY J. "BOY" aka SUPERMAN, born October 29, 1957 an passed away on September 29, 2013 in Albuquerque, NM. With his family by his side he peacefully left this world to be with the Lord. Benny will be remembered as a loving, caring, and compassionate husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a committed head cook/kitchen manager for the original La Hacienda Restaurant in Old Town for over 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Linda Chavez; mother, Mary Chavez; four children, Horetencia Chavez and fiance Phillip, Adella Avila and husband Phillip, Benny J. Chavez III and fiance Mady, and Gabriel Chavez. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Breanna Avila, Phillip Avila Jr, Giovanna Chavez, Joshua Avila, Benny J Chavez IV, and Armando Chavez. He is also survived by his siblings, Barbara Archuleta and husband Ernest, Manuel Chavez and wife Diana, Joe Chavez and wife Roseanne, Theresita Chavez, Toby Barela and husband Timothy. CORE, NANCY ANN Age 65, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM, died Saturday, September 28, 2013. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Andy Core; daughters, Jane Core Yatzeck and husband, Jim Yatzeck of Williamsburg, VA and Susan Core and husband, Joe Kramer of Los Ranchos, NM; and grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, and Naomi. Nancy Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Estaline Nations. Nancy attended Valley High School and was a member of the Viking Pride Marching Band that marched in the Rose Bowl Parade in 1965. She then went on to graduate from the University of New Mexico in 1970. She taught in the Albuquerque Public School system for 27 years. Nancy was active in the New Mexico State Fair throughout her life, raising cattle and horses, participating at the Home Arts Building with award winning recipes, and later as the superintendent of the Flower Building. She was a member of Master Gardeners, and active in Valley Gardeners and the Albuquerque Rose Society. Nancy was very proud to be a judge in both garden clubs and rose society. Services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013, 2:00 p.m., at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano Rd NW 87107. EDWARDS, VIRGINIA ANN (YAYA) Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister went to be with her Lord at the age of 78 on Saturday, September 28, 2013. Virginia was born in Albuquerque, NM. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1954. Virginia married the love of her life Bill Edwards on December 4, 1954 at her parents home. She was an avid China painter and won many 1st place ribbons at the State Fair. Virginia and Bill were both amateur golfers at the Paradise Hills Golf Course for many years. She went to school to become an interior decorator and her home was a show place. Virginia was a member of the Rio Grande Presbyterian Church since 1950 where she was also a Deacon. Virginia and Bill also worked for the Rio Grande Food Project in the early 2000's. In 1978 she opened her own dress shop, Virginia's Mix & Match. Bill and Virginia owned Rio Grande Chevron for 26 years and retired in 1995. She also enjoyed spending time with their two granddaughters, gardening, sewing, facebooking her friends and family and arts and crafts. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Susie Frazier; brother, Jerry Frazier; and sister, Etta Skinner. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 58 years, Bill Edwards; son, Bill Edwards, Jr.; daughter, Valerie Rue and husband, Leonard; granddaughters, Jena and Jackie Rue; brothers, Andrew Frazier and wife, Norma, Buddy Frazier and wife, Marie; sister, Patricia Dodd and husband, Alan; many nieces, nephews; and dear friend, Shelly Roupas. GARCIA, ALVIN Age 77, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013. He was born in Las Vegas, NM on January 25, 1936. Alvin worked for the USGS for 43 years and served his country proudly in the United Stated Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. LOPEZ, NORBERTO C. Norbert passed away in Hillsboro, OR on 9/22/13, which was to be his last venture. His death was preceded by his mother and father, Ana Maria and Nicholas Lopez. Our beloved Norbert was an amazing, smart, loving, kind hearted man who was passionate about what he believed. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Dolores. He was the proud father of Nick, Terry and husband Mark Robinson, Norbert, Tirzio and his step-children Dominic and Deanna and husband Leonard Zamora. He also loved so much his grandchildren, Nick James, Steven, Kassy, Eric, Melissa, and Zachary as well as his step -grandchildren, Leonard Louis, Dakota, and Nicki Zamora. Many thanks to his two brothers Carlos and Pat and six sisters, Crusie, Rachel, Bernice, Antonia, Rose, and Lorainne for all their love and support. MANN, LORENA SUE Age 81, died peacefully in Houston, TX on September 26, 2013 surrounded by her three children. She was born to the late J.C. and Lou Bohannan on October 6, 1931 in Brownfield, TX. Sue graduated from Hobbs High School in 1949, received a BA in English from UNM in 1984, and a MA in Language and Rhetoric in 1988. She married the late George Krueger in 1953. She married the late Charles Mann in 1966 and they lived together in Albuquerque, NM. Sue was a member and president of Women's Association at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, member of P.E.O., member and president of SouthWest Writers, member and president of NM Route 66 Association, volunteer for Sandia Ranger Station for 18 years, and freelance writer for Albuquerque Journal and New Mexico Magazine. Sue was passionate about New Mexico, hiking, writing, reading, music, and photography. She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and friend who loved God, family, friends, and life. Sue is survived by three children, Katherine Beckner (Greg) of Houston, TX, Susan Madigan (Mike) of Colleyville, TX and Chuck Mann of Oak Park, IL; three grandchildren, Lisa Beckner, Cory Madigan (Channing) and Chase Madigan; four siblings, Granville Bohannan (Katie), Mary Mauldin (Jim), Jerry Bohannan, Dorothy Maxwell (Dwayne) and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. MARTINEZ, GILBERT J. age 53, was born on October 28, 1959 and passed away on Friday, September 28, 2013. He was a long time resident of Albuquerque. Gilbert loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his fun loving personality. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents Adrian and Rosemary Martinez. PARKER, MARK a resident of Los Lunas, passed away at his home on Friday, September 27th. He was 56. Mark had lived in and around the Albuquerque area for 40 years. He was a lead guitar player and was known for his mane of beautiful red hair. He loved extra hot green chile, reading, the outdoors, hanging with friends, and his cat, Gato. Mark is survived by his mother, Gail Parker; his step-father, Robert Lopez; sister, Andrea McEneny her husband, Richard McEneny; all of Peralta, NM. RICE, GENEVIEVE PATRICIA Genevieve Patricia Rice passed away quietly on September 29, 2013 at age 91. "Pat" was born in Douglas, AZ on March 3, 1922 to Frederick (Ted) and Mary Genevieve Trotter Rice. Pat outlived most of her family but is survived by her niece, Susan Kroeger and her children and grandchildren in California, and by her cousin, Margaret Jane Rice of Douglas, AZ. Private services will be held later. Pat moved with her family to California where she lived in Santa Cruz, San Mateo, Palo Alto, and Mill Valley. She attended University of the Pacific and listed in the Women's Army Corps during World War II. While in the WAC, Pat served as a Classification and Personnel Specialist in New Guinea and the Philippines. She was awarded two campaign medals, a good conduct medal, and a Philippine Liberation Ribbon with a bronze star. This accomplishment was certainly a rarity for a woman of her generation. After the war, Pat was a Personnel Specialist for the State of California. She retired and moved to Placitas, NM and later to Rio Rancho. Pat was an avid fly fisherman and tied her own flies by hand. She raised and trained dogs and was active in several kennel clubs both in California and in New Mexico. She took in rescued cats during her time at Alcantalada Vista/Fairwinds. She enjoyed playing the piano, painting, and playing pool. She also loved collecting both traditional and contemporary Native American art. Her ashes will be interred at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. RONDEAU, NORMAND (NORM) age 81, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2013 in his home surrounded by his family. He moved his family from Stamford, Connecticut to Albuquerque in 1954. He retired from P.N.M. He is survived by his wife Terry, three adult children; Claire Robison and husband David, Denise Rondeau and children, Glenn Rondeau and wife Cindy; six grand children; Kirt Martinez, Stephanie Martinez, Jason Martinez, Magen Burdick and husband Gerrad, Tristen Rondeau and Cody Rondeau all from Albuquerque; four brothers, two sisters and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Yvonne, brothers Ted and Herve, and granddaughter Sherie Bernadette Martinez. Norm was beloved by his family and friends. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always quick with a joke! He loved singing to his grandchildren, swimming, dancing and hiking. He will be missed by all who knew him. VIGIL, RUDY ANTHONY (LULU) was called to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2013. He was preceded in death by his mother, Delma Amador. He is survived by his father, Rudolph Vigil; seven children, Michelle Vigil, Christina Torrez, Gemini Vigil, Julie Linam, Chelsea Manzo, Charmayne Fuller and Jason Vigil; three sisters, Veronica (Peppy) Vukojevich, Kathy Chavez and Sandra Vigil; and brother, Raymond Vigil. He also has 20 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday, October 4, 2013 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Rosary at 8:00am; Mass at 9:00am; and interment at 3:30pm at Sunset Cemetery, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
