ALLIE, RAYMOND J. Age 87, a resident of Albuquerque since 1990, died Monday, July 1, 2013. He is survived by his children Steve P. Allie and wife, Kathy, Mary Daniels and Jim Allie and wife, Diane; grandchildren Scott Lustik and wife, Jill, Kristine Crabtree and Gina Allie and fiancee, Freddy Dudek; step-granddaughters Michelle Bernier and husband, Chris and Laura Sunkes; great-grandchildren Cody, Jacob, Kendall, Carson, Ava, Zachariah, Levi and Sarah; and one great-great-grandson due July 17; and one sister Eva Wichnowski. Mr. Allie was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; eight brothers and three sisters. Ray was active with the fishing clubs at Palo Duro and Bear Canyon Senior Centers. He served in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of American Legion Post 49. A prayer service will be held, Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 10:00 am at FRENCH-University. Entombment will follow at Mt. CARPENTER, VERNON KEITH Age 81, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013. He was born on April 26, 1932 to Fred William and Neva (Freeman) Carpenter of Clayton, NM. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Marine Biology from Highlands University. Mr. Carpenter retired from the US Fish and Wildlife Service after 30 years of service. His hobbies included fishing, hunting and camping. He was a true outdoorsman. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy McRorey and husband, Larry, of Beeville, TX, and Kim Carpenter of Rio Rancho, NM; granddaughter, Ann Elise McRorey; sisters, Gail Ritchie and Christine Carpenter; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who mourn his passing. GARCIA, MARIA ELBA age 65, went to heaven on July 1, 2013. She had been battling kidney disease and recently cancer along with diabetes and numerous other illnesses. On June 20, 1964 Elba married Joe Garcia. They began their lives together and soon began a family. Josie Garcia, and soon after, Chris Garcia were born. Maria has joined Joe in heaven and she saves a place there for her family and friends. Maria will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who loved her. Many who met Elba remember her for her kind heart and sense of humor. Even while she struggled with her health, she rarely let her spirit drop. Maria had such confidence and faith in God that she could never be kept down for long. The Rosary will be held at 6:30 pm on 7/5/2013 and the Mass will be held at 10:00 am on 7/6/2013. Both will be at Holy Child Mission in Carnuel, NM.

GLADDEN, EDWARD DODD Age 91, passed away on July 2, 2013. Edward was a dear friend, neighbor, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and an outstanding individual. After his naval service in both World War II and the Korean Conflict, he returned to Albuquerque with his family. In the early 1950's, Eddie and his father-in-law, Fred Mossman Sr., were men of vision, instrumental in developing the North East Heights of Albuquerque in commercial and residential construction . Edward is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Phyllis Gladden; daughters, Kathi Tate and husband, Jim, Julie Roskosh and husband, Gunter; four grandchildren: Jamie Jauriqui and husband, Manny, Anney Snyder and husband, Daniel, Meghan Tate and Hans Roskosh. He was blessed to have five great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He stood for truth, honesty and integrity, with a keen sense of humor and love of life, family and country. He will be fondly missed and remembered for his generosity to so many people and of course, love of golf at the Albuquerque Country Club. GONZALES, BENITO ARTURO Benito Gonzales went home to be with the Lord suddenly on Saturday June 29, 2013. He was born on July 3, 1933. He was one of 16 children born to Feliberto and Catalina Gonzales. He served 8 years with the United States Navy and was discharged honorably as Quartermaster. During his time in the Navy he served aboard the USS Hornet in the Korean War. He worked at the Penitentiary of New Mexico and retired as a Lieutenant. He was an avid member and president of the Fraternal Order of Police, where he was dedicated to make it successful so that it could benefit the public with donations to College bound Children Scholarships, feeding the poor, and donating to numerous charities that served the public. Benito was also a proud member of the V.F.W, V.F.N.P, B.P.O.E, F.O.E, and several other organizations. The Lord took Benito home to be reunited with his son Lawrence Gonzales who passed away two years ago, his brothers Cipriano, Eloy, Victor, and sister Rufina. He is survived by his girlfriend of many years Maria Baca; daughters: Theresa Rodriguez and Marcia Gonzales; grandchildren: Abel Madrid, Abram Madrid, Trinidad Madrid, Estevan Baca (Tina) and Arcenio Benito Baca (Brittany); his great- grandchildren: Adelina Baca, Alanzo Benito Baca, and Aaron Madrid; brothers: Andres, Alfonso, Albert, Mike, Eddie, Richard, Frank; sisters: Mabel, Angie, Rachel, Christine; and many nieces and nephews. JONES, DORIS YOUNG Doris was born in El Paso, Texas October 29, 1926. She passed away peacefully in her sleep July 2, 2013. She is predeceased by her son, Richard B. Jones; mother, Ellen Cowan Young and father, Jesse Young. She is survived by husband, Dr. Richard Jones; son, Daniel T. He was a Staff Sgt. in the Air Force. He loved spending time with his family and taking trips to Laughlin and Las Vegas with Pricscilla. By trade he was a diesel mechanic but his main passion was driving charter bus tours around the US but mainly Nevada. MONTANO, BERT ANTHONY Life on earth ended on 7/1/13 for Bert Montano at age 52 after a struggle with very aggressive cancer. He is survived by wife, Judy; sons, Don (Melissa) and Mark (Audrey); grandchildren, Dragon, Isiah, Anabelle, Lilliana, Azlynn; parents, Ruben (Jean) Montano and Carla Drake; brothers, Russel (Margaret) and Ruben Timothy (Jacque); sisters, Andrea (Travis) Anderson and Maria (Matt) Gomez; mother-in-law, Anna Jaramillo; sister-in-law, Tina; aunt, Carmen; uncles, Joe and Jerry; nephews, Steven, Josh, Ryan, Ryder and Vincent; and nieces, Tina, Morgan, Bailey, and Sadie. Bert had a spontaneous, outgoing, and loving attitude. He was pursuing his passion in the culinary arts at CNM. He loved helping others with his auto mechanical expertise. He enjoyed spending time with family and hosting barbecues for friends and family. Cousins Vaughn, Victor and Vincent Young, Genie and Gabriel Martinez, niece Nichole and nephew Steven are very much appreciated by the family for the support and care they provided throughout Bert's illness.

OVERMYER, BONNIE Bonnie passed away at her home on July 1, 2013 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully with family and friends at her side. Bonnie is survived by her two sons and their families: Robert Hunter Overmyer, his wife, Heather and their daughters Casey and Rose, and Michael Scott Overmyer, his children Rachel and Anthony. Bonnie leaves her siblings Willam J. Brownsberger of Ohio, Judy Rubin of Florida, Rebecca Weaver of New Mexico, Cindy Adams of Michigan, and Dr. Robert Brownsberger of Arizona. She also leaves sister-in-law Jan, and brothers-in-law Herky, Jan, and Jim. She has many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews as well. Bonnie was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. After graduating from high school she attended Columbus School of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio. She moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she lived for many years and where she became a talented potter and free-lance artist. She moved to New Mexico in 1991 and soon after opened a shop in Old Town named Antigua. A few years later she moved to a larger location in Old Town renaming the new store Hispaniae. Bonnie built Hispaniae to be a well known destination location for local New Mexicans and also attracted clientele from around the country. Hispaniae was founded on Bonnie's deep love of folk art and the many artisans and crafts people of Mexico. Her admiration and respect for Mexican artists was a profound passion of Bonnie's. She very much valued and treasured many local New Mexican artists and crafts people. Hispaniae will continue to honor the artistry and crafts of countless individuals. Bonnie friendships were an immeasurable blessing - they enriched her life in countless and graceful ways. Her family is deeply grateful to everyone for sharing your dreams, hopes, prayers and love. We are lifted by your kindness and out pouring of compassion. To Kathryn, Doug, Stu, Suzy, Mary Jean, Carol, Bill, Ann, Macon, Arturo, Chris, Barbara, Eason, Jan, Catherine, Gaelle, and many others, we are touched beyond our imaginations. Bonnie was 66 years old. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, William H. and Mary Lu Brownsberger. Her dear friends Nancy and Aggie also preceded her in death. The family wishes to thank Dr. Haskins and the staff of the New Mexico Cancer Center for their heartfelt care of Bonnie during her illness. TORRES, KELLY MARVIN Age 53, passed away peacefully at his home on June 30, 2013. He was born on September 28, 1959 to Orciviana and Camillo Torres in Embudio, NM. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth "Liz" Torres; his two children: daughter Valerie Torres and fiancee Greg Romero and granddaughter, Myra; son Kelly Torres, Jr. and wife Emily and grandson, Leo; his two brothers: Leonard Torres and wife, Lilly; Marcel Torres and wife, Anabelle. He leaves behind a large, loving, extended family and many friends. Kelly was a lifelong teacher, not only as an educator with Albuquerque Public Schools, but by sharing his knowledge and wisdom with any who asked. He started his teaching career with the Espanola Public School system. He also taught for the Las Vegas city schools before moving to Rio Rancho. Before he was employed as a teacher, Kelly was a man of many trades. He worked various other jobs, including his time spent employed as a federal interpreter during the Cuban refugee crisis. He was also employed by the Albuquerque Tribune, as well as the Las Vegas Daily Optic. Kelly was also a talented trumpet player and during his college years, this gift helped pay for his education. Kelly enjoyed spending his free time with his family and his beloved dog, Johnny, as well as devoting time to his hobbies such as collecting comic books and knives. He was also a fisherman, having spent many summers taking his family fishing on the rivers of New Mexico as well as out on the boat in Kino Bay, Mexico. Throughout his life, he and Liz would often travel together with their family. They enjoyed many vacations together and the places they would go to for their son's ice skating. His warm heart, tender smile, generous spirit and loving nature will truly be missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched.
