BATSEL, DOTTIE MILLER August 25, 1927 - January 18, 2013 After 85 wonderful years with us, Dottie lost her battle with breast cancer. Dorothy Kingsley born in Torrington, WT is survived by children: Paul David Batsel of Los Lunas, NM, Bonnie and her husband, Reinhard Perlhefter of Milipitas, CA, Billie and her husband, Terrance Kallberg of Fremont, CA and Linda and her husband, Andrew Gabaldon of Los Lunas, NM. Multitudes of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren also filled her life with happiness. A celebration of Dottie's life will be held at 3:00 p.m . on Thursday, January 31st, 2013 at Cremation Society of NM, 1935 Juan Tabo Blvd NE, (505) 323-9000. BENJAMIN, GILLIAN "LYN" age 56, of Tetonia, Idaho died Tuesday, January 15th, 2013 at her her home in Tetonia. Lyn was born February 15, 1956 in London, England, later moving to the United States where she was a Hydrologist, leading the way in trying to save the rivers in the west. CHAVEZ, ANSELMO ARTURO Anselmo Arturo Chavez beloved Father, Grandfather, and Brother went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at the age of 80. He passed peacefully in the loving arms of his family. Anselmo was born in Quemado, NM to Juanita Provencher and Manuel Chavez on April 21, 1932. He grew up on his mother's cattle ranch in Quemado and helped with daily tasks on the ranch. At the age of only 16 he proudly joined the Marines. Anselmo was combat wounded as he fought for his country during the Korean War during six combat campaigns. He continued to serve in both the Marines and Air Force until he retired as a Master Sergeant after 21 years of service. He subsequently went on to work in a variety of capacities for the next several decades. He was the first in his family to graduate from college and received several degrees. He earned an Associate's degree in Accounting, a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and dual Bachelor's degrees in both Business and Economics. He also completed graduate work at the University of Nebraska. Anselmo was heavily involved in politics. He enjoyed following politics and, just like his father, he was a candidate for several political seats including City Council, Governor, U.S. Congress, and U.S. Senate. Of all of his many accomplishments, his greatest joy and accomplishment in life was his family. His life was enriched with the birth of each of his seven children, Jacqueline, Mark, Jack, Arthur, Varn, Margaret, and Marie. He did an incredible job of instilling a sense of confidence and pride in his children. He taught each of his children incredible strength, determination, confidence, and most of all, how to love. He was so protective of his children. His dedication to his children continued even when they were grown. He continued to protect and watch over his grown children every chance he could. Anselmo was the pillar of strength for his family and leaves us wondering what we will do without him. He is survived by his brother, Joaquin M. Chavez and his wife, Dorothy of NM; his sister, Elvira Roybal and her husband, Alejandro; his children, Jacqueline Britton of NV, Mark Chavez of NM, Jack Chavez of CA and his wife, Katsue, Arthur Chavez of CA, Varn Chavez of AZ and his wife, Danielle, Margaret Kennedy of CO and her husband, Glenn, and Marie Chavez of CA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Alec, Macie, Devin, and Eileen, as well as extended family and friends. We love you, we are so proud of you. We will be with you again. Friends may visit Wednesday, January 23, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m at FRENCH - Wyoming. CONDIT, EDWARD E. Passed away Thursday, January 17, 2013. He was born July 27, 1927 to Watson Ellsworth Condit and Esther L. (Shields) Condit at his Grandfather William Wylie Condit's farm house in the small farming community of Hill, NM in Dona Ana County. He was one of ten children. Mr. Condit is survived by his children, Mark Edward Condit, Gary Dean Condit, and Mrs. Brenda Mae Condit O'Connor; grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Condit, Edward Aaron Condit, Grant Edward Condit, Neil Gary Ray Condit, Tina Dodd, and Tanya Dodd; great-grandson, Landen Condit; and siblings, Mrs. Iona May Ritchie of Farmington, NM, Mrs. Maurine Berdina Miller of Farmington, NM, Leroy Lee Condit of Spanish Fork, UT, Mrs. Peggy Lou Eggen of Colorado Springs, CO, Mrs. Esther Gail Toulouse of Des Moines, IA, and Weldon Wylie Condit of Omaha, NB. Edward was married to Helen Elizabeth Davis Cooper on October 15, 1948 in Norfolk, VA until her death in 2011. He enlisted with the U.S. Navy in 1945 and served until 1953 being honorably discharged as Engineman First Class. He honorably served on the USS Williamsburg which was President Truman's yacht. He also served on the USS Pocono and joined Admiral W.H.P. Blandy's company who was the commander at the time of the Atlantic fleet. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; his brothers, Clifford Carl Condit and Raymond Russell Condit; and sister, Florence Evelyn Allen. Mr. Condit was the founder and owner of Market Refrigeration, and was a commercial refrigeration contractor in New Mexico from 1959-2002. Services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013, 11:00 a.m., at FRENCH Wyoming. ELLIOTT, JACK LEONARD Born April 3, 1926 in Little Rock, Arkansas and went to be with his heavenly father on January 18, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard L. Elliott and Edna (Stevenson) Elliott. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lou Nell (Trawick) Elliott and two daughters, Carey (Elliott) McIntyre and husband John McIntyre, and Dr. Elise Elliott; one granddaughter, Rebecca (McIntyre) Timmons and husband Scott Timmons; and three great grandchildren, Clara, Jack and Lily Timmons. Jack served in the Navy and trained as a pilot during World War II. He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1950. He married Lou Nell in 1951 in Little Rock, AR, and moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1962. He started his own successful real estate business, Elliott and Stevenson, Realtors. He was president of the Board of Realtors in 1971. He was an active Deacon in Baptist churches in Albuquerque and was a member of First Baptist Church of Los Lunas at the time of his death. He was a talented musician and played the violin and French Horn. He played violin with Apple Mountain Strings and Things. He loved to sing and sang with quartets at churches. He was a back up singer in a production of "Oklahoma" at Popejoy Hall in the 1970's. He enjoyed being a Ham Radio Operator. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be missed. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Los Lunas, 914 Los Lentes Road, SE, Los Lunas, NM. FAWVER, PATRICIA LINDA Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away January 17, 2013 at the age of 66. A longtime resident of Albuquerque and a UNM graduate, Patricia was born April 3, 1946 in Chicago, IL and worked at Mitchell Elementary School as a health assistant until retiring in 2006. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Robert Fawver; her two sons, Christopher and Matthew Fawver (Tracy); and her two grandchildren Lilliana and Greyson Fawver. Services will be held January 24, 2013 at 11:00am at John XXIII Catholic Community Church, with interment and reception following. The family would like to extend the utmost thanks to the staff and volunteers at Presbyterian Hospice for their help and care during Patricia's final days. GRIEGO, DEBRA C. age 54 born to Kenneth C. and Maria A. Qualls, who was born and raised in Santa Fe and was a long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away suddenly, and peacefully on Friday, January 18, 2013. Debra was a proud US Army Veteran of Desert Storm, and served 10 years of active duty service honorably in support of her country. For the past sixteen years, she enjoyed working for Intel as a systems analyst. Debra was an amazing, caring and loving Mother, Grandmother and Wife. Debra had an appreciation for her family and lived her life to the fullest. She is survived by her loving husband Frank Griego; her sons, Leo Qualls, Dominick Griego and wife Cecilia, Serafin Griego and wife Amanda; her daughter, Amanda Griego; her six grandchildren, Trinity, Catarina, Zerriah, Diego, Sandia and Sean; her mother M. Antonia Qualls; Sisters, Audrey Jones and Winona Qualls; brother, William Qualls; step brother and sisters, Kris Qualls, Tracy Qualls and Peri Manzi. LEDOUX, JUSTINA formally from Taos and recently from Santa Fe, passed away on January 19, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in July 2008, her parents, Tomas and Sofia Martinez and her brothers, Tom, Joe, Leon and Richard Martinez and one sister, Mary Velasquez. She is survived by her three sons, Phillip and wife Vickie of Rio Rancho, Tomas and wife Janet of Santa Fe, and Mike and wife Laurel of Raton. She is survived by eleven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Justina is also survived by one brother, Edmundo Martinez and his wife Katie, her very good friend Berlinda Romero and wonderful caregiver, Gloria Kennedy. Justina graduated from Loretto Academy and worked for the state of New Mexico for 30 years. After her retirement, she did volunteer work. She was a Eucharistic minister for Our Lady of Guadalupe in Taos for 17 years. She and her husband also served off and on as mayordomos at the church. They delivered meals-on-wheels to the elderly. Justina belonged to the State Retirees Association and the Taosenas Club. She was a very friendly person, always willing to help others. She was talented and artistic. She took painting lessons and made many lovely paintings. A Rosary will be celebrated at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday 1/23/2013 at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church. A Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. on Thursday 1/24/13 at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church with interment to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 10:30 p.m.

MCCARTHY, WILLIAM LEO Chief Master Sergeant William L. McCarthy USAF, Retired, Age 70, died suddenly in his sleep on the morning of January 14, 2013 at his home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Bill was born and raised in Medford, Massachusetts on September 24, 1942 to the late Charles H. and Gertrude M. (Powers) McCarthy. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at age 18 and served with honor and distinction in the aviation and aircraft maintenance career fields. A decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, Chief McCarthy received countless awards including two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Meritorious Service Medals, and multiple Air Medals. He was promoted to the highest enlisted rank and retired from active duty in 1987 after more than 26 years of distinguished service to our country. Mr. McCarthy followed his Air Force career with a second career as a jumbo jet field representative for McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft Corporation and the Boeing Company in Long Beach California, the Netherlands, and Germany. He retired from his civilian occupation in 2003, settling in Albuquerque, New Mexico. William McCarthy spent a lifetime committed to the ideals and precepts of what he cherished; his family, his country, and his Christian Catholic faith. He and his wife of 44 years were devoted to each other and their primary hobby was showering their family with love and affection. His selfless commitment to the United States of America is evidenced by his over two and a half decades of principled service to our country and the hundreds of airman he led along the way. He was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of the Sandias on Kirtland Air Force Base and a lifetime member of numerous local parishes throughout his multitude of military and civilian moves. Bill is survived by his loving wife, Alma; their daughters, Kimberly Singletary and her husband, Lt. Col. William Singletary, and Tracy Campbell and her husband, Justin Campbell; his grandchildren whom he adored, Eli, Emma, Will and Remi. He is survived by his brothers, David McCarthy and Robert McCarthy both of Boston as well as many more cherished family and friends. TURRIETTA, ORACIO "SANA" Age 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 18, 2013. He was born in Magdalena, NM on July 28, 1939. Oracio worked for the City of Albuquerque Solid Waste Department and was retired after 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 23 years, Mary Ann Carrion-Turrieta; parents, Florencio and Veronica Turrietta; son, John Turrietta and brother, Daniel "Tacho" Turrietta. Oracio is survived by his children, Richard Carrion Sr. and wife Rosina, Danny Carrion, Lisa Trujillo, Florienda Turrietta and Oracio Turrietta Jr.; siblings, Jamie Turrietta, Joe Raymond Turrietta, Sylvia Gamez and Linda Turrietta; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.
