BENAVIDEZ, CONRADO J. 47, in Loving Memory and celebration of a life redeemed through Jesus Christ, Conrado James Benavidez Jr., known as "James" or "Papa" born on January 2, 1965 in ABQ., NM., born again by the blood of Jesus on October 5, 2011, and went home to meet his Lord and Savior on Monday, December 24, 2012. He was preceded in death by his daddy, Conrado Benavidez Sr.; grandparents, Silivano and Soleme Benavidez, Juan and Andrea Montoya and nephew, Augustine Reyes all of ABQ. He is survived by his loving wife and soul mate of twenty five years, Emilia or as her "Papa" called her his "Millybug" who together proved to the world two shall become one, until death do we part, really is possible; his loving and caring mom, Jean Benavidez; mother in law, Felicita Lucero, both of ABQ.; three sisters, Beverly Gurule and husband Ernest, Eva Benavidez and Margaret Romero, all of ABQ.; two brothers, Daniel R. Benavidez Sr. and wife Michelle, Lawrence Benavidez and wife Laurie, both of ABQ.; two brothers in law, George R. Lucero of PHX, AZ., Manuel Maldonado of ABQ.; sister in law, Maxine Vega and husband Pete of Denver, CO.; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew, who he loved and prayed for; Church family, Potters House Christian Center, who he loved and was grateful for knowing; several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and acquaintances. CELNIK, RABBI ISAAC HERBERT 71, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, died Saturday, December 29, 2012. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Jill Celnik and husband, Chris Werner of Castle Rock, CO; Gitel Celnik; son Leib Celnik both of Louisville, CO; granddaughters Ava Werner and Lisa Streets; grandson Zachary Werner and Brad Streets; wife, Irene Sanchez of Albuquerque, NM; and a large, extended family. Rabbi Celnik was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherri Streets. He served as Congregation B'nai Israel's Rabbi for more than 30 years. Rabbi Celnik was a US Army Chaplain in the 1960's. Isaac was a visionary, pioneering efforts to bring many faiths together. Private family services will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery. CONNELL, REV. LEON 1926 - 2012 Rev. Leon Connell, civil servant, rancher, Minister with the Assemblies of God and family man, died at his home in Lemitar on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Inez Connell and a son, Garland Leslie Connell. Rev. Connell is survived by his daughter, Martha Dixon and husband, Wayne of Texarkana, TX, sons, Wendell and Bruce Connell of Lemitar, NM; grandchildren, Tammy Salman, Jody Dixon, Leslie Ann Vicente, Jason Connell, Callie Connell and Paige Connell. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Betty Davis. All services will be held at the Mountainair First Assembly of God on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, beginning with a viewing at 9:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at White Lake Cemetery in Gran Quivira. Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Edwards, Jody Dixon, Heath Connell, Jamie Moore, Rev. Brian Hubbard and Oral Connell. DANIELS, BILL T. born 2/9/66, died 12/25/12. A loving father, son, and brother, Bill is survived by his son, William C. Daniels, living in New Mexico; his father, Billy G. Daniels, of Albuquerque, NM; his sister and her husband, Teri and Travis Harris; and his niece and her husband, Myla and Bill Southard, all of Ponca City, OK; and numerous cousins. Bill was a computer expert and an accomplished artist. His family has been blessed by the art he so generously gifted them. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. May you rest in peace as you join your mother, papaw, and other grandparents. Bill is to be cremated and a private memorial service was held at his father's residence and attended by family and close friends.

DAVIS, MARION HASKELL was born in Cold Springs, OK on June 21, 1934 and passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. He served in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Davis worked in Los Alamos for Zia Company and Los Alamos National Labs, retiring in 1985. He and his wife moved to Albuquerque in 1990. Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, Forest and Viola Davis; his son in-law, Dan Kew. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen; brother, Don Davis; sister, Betty Lakey; daughters, Kimberly Kew, Pamela DiBenedetti and husband Frank, Melanie Virden and husband Russell; six grandchildren, Jerrod Kew and his wife Sara, Ashley Kew, Anthony DiBenedetti, Kaitlyn Orsburn, and her husband Brian, Dan Virden and Zachary Virden; three great-grandchildren, Drake Kew, Milee Kew and Tyler Orsburn. DUFF, JACQUELIN "JACKIE" BROE Our beautiful wife and mother peacefully passed away on Dec. 29, 2012 at the age of 90 in her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born on June 29, 1922 to Frank and Helen Broe of St. Louis, Missouri. Jackie grew up in St. Louis where, at the age of 20, she met a nice, young man who asked her out dancing on a riverboat stationed on the Mississippi River. From this day sprung an inspiring love story as the two married on April 15, 1944 and remained together happily ever after. Jackie and her husband worked and raised their family across the United States and Europe. At different points in her life Jackie worked as a Secretary to the County Commissioners in Maryland, the U.S. Arms Control Mission in Geneva and later in life she volunteered as a docent for the Albuquerque Museum. She was an avid reader and a passionate participant in the various Catholic communities where she lived. Once settled in Albuquerque, Jackie and Bob became two of the founding members of the Prince of Peace Parish. Jackie was sadly preceded in death by her brother Varley and her two beautiful grandchildren Elizabeth Ladino and Ryan Duff. She is survived by her devoted husband Robert Duff, Col. USAF (ret.) and their four children: The Reverend Michele (Duff) Rahhal, her husband Bill and their children - Robert Rahhal, Michael Rahhal and his wife KC Perry, Chris Rahhal and his wife Stacy Hill-Rahhal and their children Christian and Aliyah; Melissa (Duff) Zink, her husband Tom and their children - Geoff Shelton and Stacey Shelton-Zink; Robyn (Duff) Ladino, her husband Tony and their children - Marie Ladino, Joseph Ladino and Rebecca Ladino; Dennis Duff, his wife Linda and their children - Michael Duff, Lauren (Duff) Dodington, her husband Jim and their daughter Elsa. Jackie was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. The love she showered upon her family and friends will continue to brighten their lives and her spirit will live on through them. ELLIS, GLADYS GENEVIEVE Was born March 28, 1923 in Liberty, Nebraska. She passed away peacefully, December 27, 2012 at the age of 89. Genevieve grew up in nearby Sterling and later moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. There, she worked as an executive secretary for the telephone company and a Red Cross nurses aide at Lincoln General Hospital. This is where she met, nursed and later married Harold O. Ellis. Genevieve dedicated her life to God, her husband and children. In 1960 the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. She loved children so much, she devoted much of her time working in the "Mother's Day Out" program at church. Her children's friends and neighborhood children congregated at the Ellis home. She took them all under her wing and they loved Genevieve so much, to this day many of them still call her mom. She loved music, square dancing, travel, scrabble and Christmas. Genevieve is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Harold; her Children: Beth and her husband, Jim; Bob and his wife, Mary; Carol and her husband, Gil; Grandchildren: Claire, Scott and his wife, Britta, Holly and her husband, Michael and Alex; Great Grandchildren: Arianne and Noah. HUSBAND, ELIZABETH E. age 96, died at her Rio Rancho home November 5th after a brief illness. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on October 13, 1916, she lived many years in NY and LA and moved to Rio Rancho in 1983. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carlotta Treleaven; her brother, Robert Husband; and her lifetime companion, Muriel Irvin. Survivors include her housekeeper of 30 years and devoted caregiver, Jean Orozo of Albuquerque; Carl Treleaven, nephew, and his wife, Lina, also a devoted caregiver, of Madeira Beach, FL; Bari Nazario, niece and devoted caregiver, of Felton, CA; Rick Husband, nephew of Dallas, TX; Jeff Husband, nephew of Henderson, NV; and Candye Nannini, niece of Wadsworth, IL. A graduate of U. of Rochester and U. of Southern California, she was a high school teacher in LA and magazine editor in NY. For many years she led the Rio Rancho Great Books Club. MARTINEZ, FEDERICO O. Federico O. Martinez, 90, a resident of Albuquerque, joined his beloved wife of 62 years, Anita Cordova Martinez, Saturday, December 29, 2012. He is survived by children; Ella Porragas and husband Samuel, Selma Luna and husband Frank, Mario Martinez, Marlin Martinez and Conchita Sandoval and husband Ray, grandchildren; Carrie Porragas, Garth Porragas, Mary Barry and husband Kent, Sabrina Zamora and husband James, Nathan Sandoval and wife Monique, Antoinette Sandoval, Jason Sandoval and wife Janet. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, Samy, Sabrina, Eddie, Hunter, Spencer, Andrew, Brian, Anthony, Brooke, Roxton, Reyes and Santiago. Mr. Martinez was preceded in death by his wife Anita, his parents, Celso and Domicilia Martinez, his granddaughter Bernadette Porragas and his siblings. He was born in Truchas, NM and moved to Los Alamos in 1956. He retired from the US Post Office in 1982 and moved to Albuquerque to be near his children and family. Federico served our country in the US Army during WW II, in the 517 Parachute Airborne Infantry. He was combat wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He also received the European/African/ Middle Eastern Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Services will be Thursday, January 3, 2012, 11:00 am at Second Presbyterian Church, 812 Edith Blvd NE, with Rev Robert Woodruff, officiating. MILLER, GRACE I. Grace, "GG" a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on December 29, 2012 at age 100. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Carlon. She is survived by her children, Nancy and Tom Covington of Granbury, TX and Dick and Janet Miller of Crestview, FL; the Covington grandchildren, Randy and Robin, Kerry and Janet, Allan and Jill, Brad, Tina and Jerry; the Miller grandchildren, Kristie and Dan, Shawna and Carlos, Susan and Jim, Ricky and Kristi; 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. In her younger years she was an active member in the West Mesa Garden Club with the most amazing green thumb, and enjoyed camping. ROGERS, JUANITA BAGLEY was born on July 30, 1930, in Proctor, Oklahoma and went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 26, 2012. She moved to California with her parents in the 1940's and later re-Iocated to Albuquerque to be near her daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernie Rogers; parents, Thomas and Beulah Bagley; grandson, Christopher Kelbe; brothers, Pete, Wally and Junior; sisters, Margaret, Gerri and Louise. Juanita is survived by her daughter, Tina Rogers Kelbe, and husband Ray; grandchildren, Frank Kelbe and wife Kim, Kris Kelbe and Jim Kelbe; great-grandchildren, Samantha Barncastle, Kenny Barncastle and Lauren Kelbe; and great-great grandchildren, Eli Barncastle and Claire Barncastle; sister, Dora Matus, and husband, Mario; and many nieces and nephews. DEVIN RAMON SANCHEZ Of Albuquerque, NM went to heaven on December 29, 2012. Devin was born on September 18, 1990 and was a 2012 Manzano High School graduate. Devin will always be remembered for his contagious smile and sense of humor. Devin never asked for much, the only thing he wanted was unconditional love and to live life to the fullest. Devin enjoyed dancing, horseback riding, swimming, and bowling, listening to music and enjoyed going to concerts (Snoop Dogg, Kid Rock and Gwen Stefani). Devin enjoyed going out to eat and watching Barney and action movies like Fast and the Furious which was his favorite. Devin looked forward to Sunday morning breakfast ritual with his grandparents and mom. Devin was a beloved son, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. Devin is survived by his mother Nora Sanchez; grandparents, Ramon and Emma Sanchez; uncle, Ramon Jr and wife, Dolores and children, Ashley, RaeAnna and Destiny Sanchez; aunt, Melissa and daughter, Taylor Wheeler; and numerous uncles, aunts and many cousins from Texas. SOVEREIGN, JERRY A. Jerry A. Sovereign, 84, of Rio Rancho, NM passed away in the early morning hours of December 29, 2012 with his family at his side. He was born in a little log cabin in Melrose, MT on December 16, 1928 in the midst of a blizzard that required the doctor who delivered him to travel on horseback to arrive just in a knick of time. He proudly served his country in the Army at the conclusion of World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Washington Law School and was an accomplished criminal attorney. He served as a prosecutor for King County, WA and later as both a Deputy District Attorney and Deputy Public Defender for San Bernardino County, CA, retiring in 1994. He was a licensed private pilot. He was blessed with a green thumb that made his flowers, plants and vegetables the envy of all who visited his home. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara A. Sovereign of Rio Rancho, NM; his son, Kevin and wife Belinda of Rio Rancho, NM; granddaughter Shannon Harrison and her husband Justin as well as grandson Clark Sovereign, all of Albuquerque, NM. He is also survived by his daughter, Seanna Pilcher and husband John of Palm Springs, CA and grandson Brian Bader, great grandchildren Jonathon Bader and Alice Bader and grandson David Bader of San Bernardino. WICKENS, RICHARD "DICK" LEE Richard Wickens, 89, was peacefully enfolded in the Lord's arms and called to Heaven on Saturday, December 29, 2012. Richard was born December 16, 1923 in Weed, California. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Wickens; parents: Charles & Sylvia Wickens; brother, Robert Wickens and sister, Corrine C. Shoemaker. Dick is survived by his children: Keith A. Cheshire and wife, Carol Jane, Leonard "Ray" Cheshire and wife Vonda, Janice Pfaff and husband Larry, Corrine Wickens, Charles K. Wickens, JoAnne Medina and husband Matt, Rick Wickens and wife Louise, and Michael Wickens and wife Kimberly. Grandchildren are Robert Cheshire, Ken Cheshire, Keith David Cheshire, Kristyn Cheshire, Mark Cheshire, Jennifer Petersen, Giovanna Bakken, LoriAnna Zamarripa, Eva Houghton, Veronica Pfaff, Rachael Pfaff, Taylor Wickens, Hayden Wickens, Eddie Medina, Noah Medina, Gilbert Wickens, Lyndsie Wickens, Richard Wickens and Connor Wickens; 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews and friends that he loved dearly. Dick was a World War II veteran stationed in England. He graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1942 then from the University of New Mexico in 1951 after returning from his service with the U.S. Army. He married Dorothy Vescovi Cheshire in 1956. After successfully working with lumber companies such as NM Timber Co., Bates Roberts Lumber Co., American Builders Supply and Albuquerque Lumber, he established Lumber Inc. in 1972. He remained the president and a guiding force until the company was sold in 2007. Dick was very involved in charitable works and education. He chaired the St. Mary School Board, St. Pius and Immaculate Conception Parish Councils. He was instrumental in maintaining and improving parish and school buildings. Dick and Dorothy were founding members of St. Joseph High School which was absorbed into St. Pius High School. "Nonno" will always be remembered for his dry wit and his quiet generosity. Dick's Life Celebration will begin on Thursday with a Visitation in the Reflection of Life Chapel (Washington & Cutler NE) from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary recited at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2013. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers are his grandsons: Rob, Ken, Keith D, Mark, Gilbert, and Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie, Hayden, Richard, Noah, and Connor. Family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary's School or St. Pius High School Foundations. WILDER, DONALD ELTON (BIGD) An old cowboy reached the end of the trail today and took his last ride into eternity, to be with the love of his life, Karen Wilder (Nana) his wife of 51 years. His parents Jack and Leatrice Wilder, and his niece Lori Kinney Hurd Preceded him in death. He is survived by his four children, Rhonda Papen (Terry); Mark Wilder; Karri Wilder; Jenny Bradford (Dallas); five grand children, Justin (Ginnie "Tex"); Jarrod (Mike); Nichole (Dale); Chelsea (Matt); Joshua; six great-grand children, Reese and Will Simek; Ashton; Graysen; and Hattie Papen; and Oliver Lusk. He is also survived by his siblings Ronald Wilder (Mary Lu); Kay Kinney (Bob); Rita Pridemore; and his beloved neices and nephews and their children. The measure of a man is how he treats his family when nobody is looking. He gave, he taught, he cowboyed & he loved deeply. He died with his boots on. Services will be held Wednesday January 2, 2012.
