CHISHOLM -- CELIA KERBY Celia, a healer, teacher and scientist who helped countless people through her generosity, insight and talent, passed away in her sleep Saturday morning in Sandia Park, NM. She was 63. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Mark Chisholm; her daughter, Christie Chisholm; and her son, Michael Chisholm. Celia was known as much for her erudition as she was for her unerring kindness. She was strong, sharp and courageous, and these qualities were reflected in nearly every facet of her life. She graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's in mathematics and from the University of Colorado with a Master of Business Administration. Celia had many careers. She served as a statistician at the Michigan Department of Transportation; she worked with a physics team at the University of Colorado who helped discover some of the first known problems with the ozone layer; and she supervised the quality control division of Storage Technology, a high tech firm in Boulder. Celia later traded the scientific field for one in child development, opening two highly lauded day care centers in Boulder, the Chrysalis II and the Chrysalis Infant Center. When she and her family moved to New Mexico, she unearthed a talent in alternative medicine and became a Kinesionics practitioner. She also converted into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she found many dear friends and much fulfillment. Celia helped thousands of patients over the course of her 15-year career as a healer and is perhaps most remembered by her friends in New Mexico for this practice. By her family, she is best remembered for her fierce love and loyalty. Her parting has carved a chasm that only memories and love can bridge. Services will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints - Cedar Crest Ward, 18 County Road 7, Edgewood, NM, with visitation one hour prior from 10 to 11 a.m. Celia will be laid to rest in her family plot near Washington, DC, where her siblings and their families will also be able to say farewell. Dad served our country, first in the US Air Force, then in the Marines (both Active (Korean War) and Reserves). While in the Korean War-era, in his stubbornness, he turned-down field commissions for 2nd lieutenant and Warrant Officer. Dad was in the car business for close to 40 years, and while still serving in the Marine Reserves, Dad owned/operated two consecutive car businesses in Santa Fe (1950's - early 60's). Dad and mom eventually brought the family to Albuquerque (late 60's) where dad continued his career at auto dealerships in town. In dad's latter years, he mellowed very much...his grandchildren brought much joy to his life. Mom's passing on April 6, 2012 brought a sincere and profound realization of just how much she was indeed, the cornerstone of the family. We would like to give a special Thank You to the staff of Vista Care Hospice for their wonderful and specialized care for our dad.
