BLACKWELL -- STANLEY MASON Stan was born February 4, 1933 in Wardner, Idaho. He passed away April 19, 2012 at home in Albuquerque. He graduated from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, where he met and married his wife, the former Lola Beth Anderson. Stan spent a career working in the insurance business starting in the early 1960s. For a time he worked in the home office of Fireman's Fund Insurance in San Francisco, then advanced to Commercial Line Manager in Denver, and then to Albuquerque in 1966. He entered the insurance agency business in 1970 working for the Clinton P. Anderson Agency, Southwest Insurance and retired while with Cress Insurance in 1995. He loved teaching others in the insurance industry. He touched many people's lives by sharing his love and passion for insurance. Stan received the Industry Achievement Award from the New Mexico Independent Insurance Agents Association on his retirement in 1995. His home life included gardening, painting with oils, furniture making and home remodeling. He also greatly enjoyed golfing and other outdoor activities. Stan was preceded in death by his mother Helen; his father Fred; and by his son Stanley. Stan is survived by his wife Lola; son Marcus; daughter Staley Seidler and her husband Todd. He is also survived by grandchildren Christopher and his wife Melissa, Ashley, Elizabeth and Devin and their mother Michelle, Nolan and Anden Seidler; and great-grandsons Cory and Hunter. A memorial service will be held May 12th at 2:00 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 9315 Candelaria NE, Albuquerque. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra or the Properties Committee of Covenant Presbyterian Church.

BROWN -- SALLY Died at home as the full moon rose on Thursday, April 5, 2012. Writer, teacher, friend and beloved family member. Born Sarah G. Warner on Sunday, December 21, 1919, she was the oldest of three children. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor's in Journalism. She married Robert A. Brown on August 26, 1941 and together they were the parents of six children, five of whom grew to adulthood. They lived in Missouri and Arkansas prior to moving to Santa Fe in 1949. In 1953, they moved to Albuquerque and joined La Mesa Presbyterian Church in 1954. As a mother, she was active in the education of her children taking pride as each earned a college degree. As a volunteer tutor, she touched the lives of many children. She and Bob opened their home to several Navajo children and she maintained her connection with Sarah Leon, her Navajo daughter. She received her Masters in Early Childhood Education at the age of 55. She took great joy in her years spent teaching at St. Mark's in the Valley. Following the death of her husband in 1983, she devoted a year compiling the letters they exchanged during World War II and sharing these cherished memories with her children. She traveled extensively, learning about and experiencing many diverse cultures. In 1998 she completed a history of her father, Seth LeMoyne Warner. In 2004, she published Agnes Brustad Warner Teacher, Wife, Mother Family History Memoir. She was an active member in a book club, enjoyed scrabble and working crossword puzzles and walked daily until the age of 92. In addition to her husband and infant son, Gregory Brown, she was preceded in death by her son, Scott J. Brown and his wife, Teri. She is survived by her daughters: Nikolyn McDonald and husband David; Kathleen Polage and husband Gary; Susan Haywood and husband Tom; and Mary Beth McGonagle and husband Ed. Ten grandchildren learned the love of books from her: Warner Myers, Robert McDonald, Chris Polage, Amy Polage, Sarah Haywood, Ryan Haywood, Shelby Brown, Jeremy Brown, Carrie M. Perry and Kathryn McKee. Four great- grandchildren joined her life late in the game and she treasured each one: Sabrina and Lauren Polage, Elliot Perry and Tessa Jean Myers. In addition, she is survived by her sister Elizabeth Ingell of Jackson, MI and brother Seth L. Warner of Durham, NC. Her nieces and nephews recall with affection her ability to send just the right book to their children over the years. She found exceptional joy in her church family. A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, April 28th, 10:30 a.m. at La Mesa Presbyterian Church, 7401 Copper N.E., Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87108. DELAO -- ARTHUR Age 89, died of a broken heart on April 20, 2012, three weeks after losing his beloved wife Theresa. They were married for sixty five years. He is survived by his children Arthur Jr. and wife Zayda, Theresa DeLaO, Mike DeLaO and wife Anna, Veronica Chavez and husband Mike; thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Arthur was raised at the St. Anthony's Orphanage as a child along with his brothers. In his youth he joined the CCC Camps and then proudly served in the U S Army during WWII. After his service in the military he studied at St. Joseph's College and later worked for the U S Post Office until he retired. Arthur loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He was an avid bowler and loved the Lakers. Arthur was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a humble man and appreciated the simple things in life. He will be greatly missed and forever live in our hearts. A Rosary will be held Friday evening, April 27, 2012 at 7:00 pm at Daniels Family Funeral Services Wyoming Chapel. DELGADO -- JUAN ANTONIO (TONY) Age 59, a resident of Odessa, TX went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April, 23, 2012. Antonio was born on August 29, 1952 in Durango, Mexico. Antonio is survived by his wife of 24 years, Carol Delgado; his children, Anthony Delgado, Kassandra (Kassie) Delgado, John Paul Delgado and Jennifer Alvarado, all of Odessa, TX; Doreen De La Cruz , husband Juan, Christopher Delgado of Albuquerque, NM ; Doreen Davila, husband Mauricio; Juan Antonio Delgado, wife Monica; Michelle Delgado; and his 13 grandchildren; brothers Jose Delgado, wife Olga, Mario Delgado, wife Graciella, Salvador Delgado, wife Martha, Jesus Delgado, wife Yolanda, of Albuquerque, NM; Miguel Delgado, wife Patricia of Houston, TX and Luis Delgado of Santa Fe, NM. Antonio was preceded in death by his beloved parents Francisco and Gloria Delgado; and his brother Francisco Javier Delgado. Antonio will always be known for his love of music and his guitar. He was an active part of the church choir at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Odessa, Texas for 15 years. Antonio had great love for his parents, brothers' children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He always had a joke or a story to tell. Antonio will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. A Rosary for Antonio will be recited at 6:00pm on Sunday April 29th at French - University Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday April 30th, 2012 9:30am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be his loving brothers. DIXON -- MARGERY MYERS Passed away early on Sunday, April 22, 2012. Wife to one, mother of four, grandmother to eight, aunt to twelve, sister to three, cousin to many, volunteer and friend to countless. She is already missed. Margery was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, George L. Dixon, Jr. Margery is survived by her four children, Wes Dixon and his wife Karen of Leawood, Kansas, Martha Lange and her husband Mark of Granger, Indiana, Jennifer Hamilton and her husband David of Morgan Hill, California, and Amy Dixon of Albuquerque. She has eight grandchildren, Kate, Liz, Brian, Sarah, Megan, John, Jonathan, and Lynda. Margery was born in Colorado Springs in 1930 but the family soon moved to Kansas where she and her three brothers were raised on a dry land 160 acre farm growing corn and beans. A hard but good life. She graduated from Garnett High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas and was working at the University of Iowa where she met George. They married and he enlisted to take his medical residency in the U.S. Army. Over the next eleven years she and George saw the world and built a wonderful family with four children, three dogs and a parakeet. In 1966 they all settled in Albuquerque. Margery was always active in her church. For many years she was honored to serve in the ministry of Altar Guild. She also became very involved with All Faiths Receiving Home. She was an avid gardener and world traveler (always with George). She loved all kinds of music and opera and singing in the choir. The memorial service celebrating her life will be held at The Cathedral Church of St. John, at 3rd and Silver, on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 10:30 in the morning. DURAN -- THERESSE L."TERRY" CROOK CASTILLO LOPEZ Born April 12, 1943 in Old Town Albuq, NM. Terry was called home to heaven by our Heavenly Father and Jesus on April 2, 2012, as she was a devoted child of Christ. She previously resided in Tulsa and was a resident of Holdenville, OK. at time of passing. Terry was preceded in death by her parents Alfred L. Duran Sr. and Laura E. Castillo Duran Chavez, and son, Mark L. Crook. Terry is survived by children, Susan E Penney of OKC, OK, Andrea E Durham Davis of Farmers Branch, TX, Kent D Crook and wife Tania and grandchildren Brian, Ashley, Jimmy, and Kaysi of Miami, FL, Jace A Castillo and wife Pauline and grandson J. Aaron II, Juan D Castillo and Bernice and grandson JD Jr., Peter M Lopez; brother, Al L "Sonny" Duran Jr., all of Albuq. NM; sister, Margret Geraldine "Geri" Duran of Holdenville, OK; many loving family and friends all over God's creation. Terry was a very caring, loving and passionate mother, grandmother, friend and all other titles included. She loved to see anything beautiful. She was an entrepreneur, an antiques collector and dealer, a beautician and volunteered when she could among many other endeavors. She was also active in politics and loved the Inaugural Balls, rallies and all functions, especially her dear friends, NM. State Treasurer James B. Lewis and late wife Armandie. Terry loved all "Her People" dearly! We love her more and miss her with all our hearts and will remember her with a smile. ELKINS -- RICHARD E. "DICK" Age 84, a resident of Albuquerque, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 21, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Agnes C. Elkins of Albuquerque, NM; daughter, Kathleen E Coleman and husband, James, of Hockessin, DE; sons, Thomas E Elkins and wife, Teresa of Durango, Mexico, and Daniel R Elkins and wife, Anne of Denver, CO; brother, William McIver Lamb of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Dan Coleman and wife, Barbie, John Coleman and wife, Katie, Lucas Elkins, Andrew Elkins, Kara Lockwood and husband Alex, and Simon Elkins; great-granddaughter, Haley Jane Coleman; many other family and friends. GALLAWAY -- TIMOTHY HAROLD Age 59, a resident of Albuquerque and a devoted Christian, went home to be with the Lord in April 2012. He is survived by his father, Dr. Ira Gallaway of Wilmore, Kentucky; daughter, Genevieve Gallaway of Dallas, Texas; son, James Adam Gallaway of Dallas, Texas; former wife, Deborah Trapper of Dallas, Texas; his brother, Jerry Gallaway of Lindrith, New Mexico; sister, Cindy Ward of Georgetown, Texas; brother, Craig Gallaway of Birmingham, Alabama; eleven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sally Gallaway. Harold was born in Houston, Texas and named after Harold Lindille, a dear friend of Ira and Sally Gallaway. He lived in the Dallas area until he was 17 when he then moved to Hawaii. It was there in Hawaii that he learned his craft and became a master carpenter. He later moved back to the mainland where he married and had his two children. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a probing and creative mind, and a glimmer in his eye that always meant he was preparing to say something funny and smart. Always the dapper dresser, with a flair for western attire, he was rarely seen sans his cowboy hat. Services will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012, 3:00 p.m. on a private estate in Lindrith, NM. GANDARA -- ALICE NEVAREZ 1916 - 2012 known as "Licha" to her family and friends, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Licha was a resident of Albuquerque, formerly of Belen and Santa Clara, NM. Services were held on Thursday at Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the Santa Clara Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery. HAMILTON -- JOHNNY DEE (RIPSAW) Was born in Seminole, Texas on June 8, 1952 and died suddenly on April 22, 2012 in Moriarty, New Mexico. John was preceded in death by his mother, Billie M. Cline and survived by his stepfather, Kenneth Cline. John is survived by his five children, Heather Michelle Hamilton of Arkansas, Johnny Dee Hamilton, Jr. of Kentucky, Kenneth James Hamilton of West Virginia, Joseph Scott Hamilton of West Virginia and Lance Brandon Hamilton of Arkansas. John is also survived by his sister, Carol St. Clair of Texas, brother, J. Brad Hamilton of Oregon and sister, Skeeter (Debi) Callahan of Texas. John is survived by fourteen grandchildren: Ashley, Angela, Kellie, Morgan, Carson, Blake, Tiffany, Julie, Sarah, Angel, Jacob, Haley, Landon and Jacelyn. Additionally, one aunt, Doris Roberson and one uncle, Gene Benningfield, both of Texas. John served his country in Viet Nam and was a Purple Heart recipient. John (Ripsaw) was also a proud member of the Black Berets, MC, an advocate for American POW/MIA's and an avid motorcycle enthusiast. John also loved fishing and boating. John was a man who loved quietly and described his love in a letter that he wrote to his mother by saying "I loved everyone I just didn't know how to show it. I ask everyone's forgiveness and God bless." Johnny will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren, siblings and family as well as by his brothers of the Black Berets, MC. HENSLEY -- LISA A. Age 56, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was a loving wife, mother and friend and a woman full of life and happiness. She is survived by her children, Brandon Hensley and wife, Nova, and Kristeena Romero; four grandchildren; and brother, David Houk. She was a successful business owner, talented musician, avid antiquer, bird enthusiast and was an excellent teacher who loved to entertain. LA BRAKE -- DONALD JOSEPH SR. September 23, 1939 - April 24, 2012 Donald is survived by his wife, Catherine La Brake; twelve children, Donald Joseph Junior, Michael Patrick, Timothy Jude, Colleen Marie, Kateri Bernadette, Shannon Eileen, Guadalupe Julianna, Sean Anthony, Dominic Paul, Luke Mathew, Marcelino Francis, and Noel Chabenel; and thirteen of his own brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Mark and his parents, George and Hilda La Brake. Donald was born in Ogdensburg, NY and during his school years was awarded for music and science. He was also published in Readers Digest and was Valedictorian of his graduating class. Donald leaves a legacy of at least 35 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who all loved him dearly. He was a devoted and loving father and faithful husband. Donald was actively involved in his Catholic Faith which was the mainstay of his life. He spent some time in the United States Air Force and retired from the Forest Service. Donald was a master of many trades. Throughout his life, he supported his family with his talents of construction, carpentry, and leather crafting, which was a favorite hobby of his. If there was something that needed doing Donald could and would do it. A Rosary will be recited Friday, April 27 at 6:30 pm at French - Westside Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 28, 10:00 am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 5800 Ouray Road NW. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. ROMERO -- LILLIAN B. Age 72, passed away at her Albuquerque home on Sunday, April 22, 2012. She was born on October 6, 1939 in Taos, NM. Lillian was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Cecilia Cruz of Taos; her sibling Ralph Cruz. She is survived by her husband Thomas Romero; son Randy Romero and wife Paulette; grandchildren Randy and Alyssa Romero; brothers Raymond Cruz, Richard Cruz, Steve Cruz; sisters Dorothy Abbott, Joann Chester, Martha Herrera, Kathy Garcia, Elaine Cisneros, Debbie Apodaca, Peggy Green; numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, and their families. Lillian Graduated from Valley High school in 1959 and also served in the U.S. Marine Corp. She held many positions in the financial industry. Her favorite pass times were taking care of her grandchildren Randy and Alyssa and playing Bingo. ROOPE -- THOMAS CHARLES Passed away peacefully on April 14, 2012. Thomas was born on April 18, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio to Fannie S. and Thomas Barclay Roope. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Fran, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He served for eight years in the United States Air Force during the Korean conflict. He graduated from the University of Denver with a bachelor's degree in business administration and went on to work as chief financial officer for Albuquerque National/Sunwest Bank. He retired from that position after twenty five years of service and was always grateful for the friendships that he established there. Mr. Roope is survived by his loving wife MaryAnn Erbe Roope and his children Nancy Roope of Placitas, New Mexico, her partner and their three children, as well as son Thomas Michael Roope of Ballwin, Missouri, his wife Danna, their son TC and TC's wife Liz, also of Ballwin, Missouri. Tom and MaryAnn have long been members of First United Methodist Church and the family is grateful for the loving friendships that were formed there. SLOAN -- GARY W. 1945-2010 Was born November 19, 1945 to Millard and Bernice Sloan in Albuquerque, NM, and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday April 25, 2012, after a battle with cancer. Gary was a heavy equipment mechanic and Baptist minister. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Peggy Parkhurst, and brother Donald Sloan. Gary is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Kathy Sloan; son Wes Sloan wife Kathryn, daughters Samantha Mensay husband Robert, Anna Hartline husband James, son Rondo Sloan wife Melissa; 11 grandchildren, Wayne, Sabrena, Kristin, and Lisa Sloan, Sissy and Graesen Hartline, Lacy Olivares husband Hank, L.K. Minton, and Melissa Eastman and husband Joseph. He is also survived by six great-granchildren, Kaiden, Darion, Samuel, and Chloe Eastman, and Michael and Kevin Olivares, and numerous nieces and nephews. Gary influenced many other lives, all of which he considered family, in the Lord.
