FROST, PATRICK MICHAEL "MIKE" passed away peacefully at 9:00 am on Tuesday morning, November 6, 2012 at his home, surrounded by his wife and family. Mike was being treated for lung cancer since May. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Kathy; his son, Christopher Frost and spouse Holly; and three daughters Michelle Frost, Rebecca Frost and Kristen Frost; grandchildren, Destiney Flores, Ryan Frost, Alyssia Rios, Antonio Rios, Andrea Rios, T Jay Winsor, and Camryn Casey; brother Greg Frost Sr. and spouse Devon; and nephew Greg Frost, Jr. Mike was born in Pasadena, California on March 6, 1950 to James Homer and Mary Viola (Rael) Frost. He was a "miracle baby" and the subject of medical histories of the day, as the youngest, at 3 months of age, to ever survive brain surgery for Hydro Cephalia. Mike grew up in El Monte, California, attended Epiphany Elementary School and graduated, in 1968, from El Monte High School. He was a star football player and heavyweight wrestler. He briefly attended Pasadena City College before being drafted into the U.S. Army. Mike served as a Crypto Operator in Vietnam and was honorably discharged. Following his service Mike returned to his job at Ole's Building Supply Company as a Department Manager. Here he met the former Kathy Gonzales and after a brief courtship was married. Mike drove for UPS for several years until his "football" knees failed him. Mike joined his brother Greg and best friend Bill Parreco in New Mexico in 1979. He apprenticed in the residential construction industry and soon earned his GB98. He was a Project Manager for Aries Construction and Pressley Homes in the 80's before founding his own company, Arcadia Homes. Mike built custom homes and provided remodel and rehabilitation services in the Albuquerque area for over 30 years. Mike joined Frost Mortgage as Facilities Manager in 2007. He worked side by side with his brother Greg Sr., son Christopher and nephew, Greg Jr. helping the company survive the mortgage meltdown and thrive through statewide and national expansion. During this time, Mike also continued to provide construction remodel and rehab assistance to his past clients, as they continued to call and would settle for no one else. As Mike matured he developed a sweetness about him that was very affecting. He was a generous man, who gave of himself and his talents whenever possible. He was quick to offer his assistance when he sensed a need. For 20+ years Mike donned his Santa Claus suit, donated his time, and made Christmas merrier for thousands of local children. Mike will be remembered by his family, friends, acquaintances and local children as a sweet, gentle, and caring man. He will also be fondly remembered by many throughout the city as the Frost Mortgage Grill Master. Celebration of his life will be located at Daniels Family located at 7601 Wyoming Blvd NE on November 10th beginning at 10:00 am with a reception at Mike and Kathy's home immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please donate to one of Mike's favorite charities, Roadrunner Food Bank. He would be so pleased to know that someone in need will be able to enjoy a meal, especially as the holidays approach. He attained the rank of Torpedo Mate Chief on April 2, 1948 and retired at that rank. He began work at Sandia National Laboratories on May 7, 1956 and retired in 1978. He operated the underground centrifuge. He was particularly proud of the work he performed for NASA and the space mission. He had a wry sense of humor, remarking one day when caught in a traffic jam, that there sure were a lot of cars and that he sure was glad that about half of them were parked!!! He was a quiet gentle person, who put family above self from the time he was just a young man in the Navy to the time he cared for his wife during her last years.
