BRAUNER, EVELYN age 91, of Albuquerque, NM, died Oct. 30, 2012. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a loving mother of three children and enjoyed knitting her famous "Bubby" slippers and blankets for her loved ones and friends. Evelyn was an avid hostess; she always enjoyed cooking and baking for others. She was very involved with Congregation B'nai Israel and the JCC of Greater Albuquerque. Survivors include, her sister Pearl Bernstein of Albuquerque; daughter Arlene and son-in-law Warren Sigal; son Mark and daughter-in-law Cindy Brauner of Scottsdale; son Leonard Brauner and daughter-in-law Beth Moritz of Manhattan, NY; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. ELLIOT, MARGARET MARY CUMMINGS "PEGGIE" Age 78, a resident of Albuquerque, died Thursday, October 25, 2012. Margaret is survived by husband, John B. Elliot of Albuquerque, NM; daughters, Susan Marie Elliot, Nancy Ellen Mance, Pamela Hix and husband, Ed; son, John B. Elliot II and wife, Dana; grandchildren, Rebecca, Anthony and wife, Jennifer, Danielle and husband, Kyle, Zachary and Amy. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Margaret (soon to be born) and many other family members including her sister-in-law Rosemary, and many friends. Mrs. Elliot was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Melvin and Marie Estelle Cummings and her brother Charles. She was a member of raised in the Catholic Church faith, a member of the Sew So Card Club, an avid RV'er with her husband John in travel clubs Good Sam (Manzanita) and WBCCI (Air Stream) NM Unit. A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, November 3, 2012, 2:00pm at French - Lomas. The Annual John and Peggie Christmas Party will include Margaret's Celebration of Life and take place after Christmas. HIGGINS, KASEY L. On October 25, 2012, Kasey Lee Higgins, age 19, found peace with his Lord following injuries sustained in a car accident in Oklahoma on October 24th. Kasey was born on July 4, 1993 in Albuquerque. He will always be the beloved son of Kiel and Kelli Higgins and adored "little" (6 foot 8 inch) brother of Kelsey Higgins and Kyle Higgins. He was treasured as a loyal friend, and cherished as a grandson, nephew, cousin, and teammate. Kasey is survived by grandparents Judy Graham, and Terry and Sharon Higgins; aunt Holli and uncle Tim Asselin and cousins Graham and Alli; uncle Ronne and aunt Sonja Higgins and cousins Leanne and Jacob; uncle Bari and aunt Lisa Higgins and cousins Cole and Corey; uncle Broc and aunt Gail Higgins and cousins Drew, Tyler, Lindsay, Brenna, and Logan. Kasey lived life to the fullest-always seeing the best in people and always giving 150%. He had a great sense of humor, an infectious laugh, and was good for a joke in any moment. He was famous for that look which said, "You just said something crazy." His legendary dimpled smile and the sparkle in his eyes would light up any situation and place a lasting impression upon your heart. He had a great love for pets, especially dogs, including his beloved canine buddies Roxy and Shwayze. Kasey also enjoyed and excelled in many sports, including football, fishing, mixed martial arts and, above all, baseball. He was an exceptionally talented baseball player at Del Norte High School, Trinidad State Jr. College, Luna Community College, and Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Kasey's family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, care, memories, and support shared during this difficult time. KIRBY, NATHAN A. US NAVY, RET., CPO Age 72, of Tijeras, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Monday October 29, 2012 at home with his wife of 37 years, Linda Sue Kirby, by his side. He was born January 18, 1940, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of late Joy and Estella Kirby. He was an alumnus of the University of Oklahoma and graduated in 1978 with a Bachelor's of Business Administration. He was proud of his long military career which started when he enlisted in the Oklahoma Air National Guard May 18, 1957 at the ripe old age of 17 where he was an Apprentice Aircraft Mechanic with the 138th CAMRON. In October 1958 he enlisted in the US Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic with the 55th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing. He was honorably discharged from the US Air Force in May 1963. For the next 33 years he worked for the US Air Force Civil Service as a Senior Logistician. He re-enlisted in the US Navy Reserve April 1975 and was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in September 1985. Nathan loved to fly airplanes, sail boats and was a ham radio operator. He taught the Men's Sunday School Class and drove the church bus at Sandia Baptist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons Michael Myers and Vincent Kirby; three daughters, Carol Womack, Laura March and Erika Sampson; and three son-in-laws, Scott Womack, Brandon March and Eric Sampson. He was blessed with five beautiful granddaughters; and five great-granddaughters. A viewing will be held at Riverside Funeral Home on Thursday, November 1, 2012 from 1:00 - 5:00 pm followed by a funeral at Sandia Baptist Church on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 10:00 am. He will be buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Building Fund at Sandia Baptist Church.

KOIKE, MARIE LOU Age 62, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012. She was born in Albuquerque, NM on May 30, 1950, to Onesimo Rios and Lucy Telles. Marie loved sewing, knitting, fishing and camping. She was a huge Yankees and Derek Jeter fan. Marie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her mother, Lucy Telles, and sister, Pauline Angel. MARQUEZ, GABRIEL L. "GARB" Age 84, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, October 29, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Emily S. Marquez; daughter, Paula Armijo; granddaughter, Monette Vezelici; grandsons, Marcus, Dominic, Robert, and Adan Armijo; great-grandsons, Gabriel Martinez-Perales and Estevan Vezelici; great granddaughters, Shania, Ashley, and Alexandra Vezelici; and sisters, Josephine Sarracino, Teresa Sanchez, Rachel Lujan, and Rosario Chavez and husband, Raymond. BROWN, MAGDALENA Our beloved mother, Magdalena Rodriquez Brown, age 88, passed away October 28, 2012. She was pre- deceased by her sisters: Gloria Moore and Rosemary Romero. Magdalena is survived by her husband of 66 years, Edward E Brown Sr. and her five children Eddie Brown Jr., Ida Jean Esquibel, Robert Brown, Gus Brown, and James Brown; siblings: Carmen Chavez, Lucille Gonzales, Gus Rodriguez, Mary Louise Sandoval, Julia Rodriquez, Frank Rodriquez, George Rodriquez, and Pauline Rodriquez; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and bake, crochet, do ceramics, paint retablos and spend time with her grandkids. TURNER, GABRIELA PADILLA Age 80, a resident of Albuquerque since 1964, died on Sunday, October 28, 2012. She was born on March 24, 1930 in Gallup, NM. Gabriela is survived by her spouse, Edward Turner; daughter, S. Linda Turner of Port Angeles, WA; grandchildren, Eva Zafarano of Honolulu, HI, and Caleb Wilmarth of Port Townsend, WA; sisters, Jennie Esquivel of Albuquerque, Natalie Sanchez (Carlos) of Gallup, NM, Anna Fuchs of Baltimore, MD and Esther Florez of Los Angeles, CA; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Turner was preceded in death by her parents, Everardo and Adelaide Padilla of Gallup, NM; and brother, Anthony Padilla of Albuquerque. Gabriela was a payroll supervisor for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 30 years. After retirement, she and Ed opened 3 different gift shops they ran for over 20 years in the Albuquerque area. October 31st would have been Gabriela and Ed's 50th wedding anniversary. Geba, as her family and friends called her, was dedicated to her faith, family and love of people and dancing, and most recently her senior center. Everyone that knew her remember her fondly because of her kindness, generosity, gentle spirit, and her genuine love and joy for her family and friends. WILLIAMS, CONNIE Y. Age 67, a resident of Albuquerque since 1980, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 30, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, George M. Williams Jr.; sons, George Clifton Williams, David Carlton Williams, and George Clifton Williams Jr.; daughter, Connie Yvonne Williams; and mother, Gwendolyn Juanita Douglas. Connie worked as a social worker and a probation officer. She ministered to the homeless for many years with Brother Ralph. Connie was a member of The Believers Center. ZALUGA, RICHARD C. (DICK) age 88, passed away on Oct. 25, 2012. He was preceded in death by his infant son Ricky. He is survived by his wife of 63 yrs., Shirley M; son, John and wife Robin Zaluga; daughter, Jill and husband Alan Herman; six grandchildren, Heather Zaluga, Holly and husband Jared Alderete, Zach Zaluga, Eliahs Zaluga, Hanna Herman and Ruby Herman; one great-grandson, Cain Alderete. He was a WWII Navy vet, retired from Sandia Labs and a founding member of the New Mexico Gun Collectors Association.
