MCCORMICK -- DONALD D. Age 88, of Albuquerque, passed away September 5, 2012. He is survived by his wife, of 65 years, Margery; his sister, Dorothy, of Tulsa, OK; children, Amy (Craig) of San Diego, CA, Zachary of Albuquerque, Egan (Jacqueline) of Los Alamos; grandchildren, Christopher Anderson, Tyler, Lacey, Chelsea and Micaela McCormick, and great-grandson, Logan. A 50 year resident of Los Alamos, he was active in politics, serving as a Probate Judge and County Clerk. He was a Cub Scoutmaster, Big Brother, Lassie League umpire and Little League coach and umpire. He participated in Toast- masters. He set up a successful campaign for a new van for "The Christmas Lady" so she could continue to distribute clothing to the people of Northern New Mexico. Don was an active parishioner of Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, serving on the vestry, as a lay reader, and as chaplain of the children's service for 25 years. He loved being on stage, having roles in Little Theatre and Don Juan Playhouse productions. He was a storyteller and loved making people laugh. Don was an artistic man, never without a camera, often in a darkroom, producing wonderful photos and experimenting with many new (and old) techniques. He loved traditional Jazz and Ragtime music, practicing on his piano daily, often singing the lyrics as he played. He was a pianist for local melodrama productions and shared his love of photography and music by teaching classes or giving individual lessons. Above all, Don loved his family, absolutely and unconditionally. His presence is missed but his lessons, his spirit, and his love will always remain. A Memorial Service will be held 11:30, Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at St. Mark's on the Mesa Episcopal Church, 431 Richmond Place NE, Albuquerque. A reception will follow in the parish hall. PHILLABAUM -- YVONNE M. Age 79, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2012. She is survived by her children, Jerry Phillabaum and wife, Pamela of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Debra Phillabaum of Ft. Morgan, CO, Michael Phillabaum of Albuquerque, NM and Winona Philla- baum and partner, Ivy Smith of Los Angeles, CA; also a total of nine grandchildren, all boys. STUART -- JUNE C. Age 87, of McPherson, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2012, at Harmony Home, McPherson. She had lived in Dodge City for 11 years until moving to McPherson in 1958, where she resided for the rest of her life. She was a homemaker. She was born on June 2, 1925, in Thatcham, England, the daughter of Thomas H. and Florence (Nightingale) Stephens. In December of 1946, she was united in marriage to Phillip J. "Phil" Stuart. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2007. June was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, where she also belonged to the TLC group. She was a Cub Scout leader, and enjoyed painting and gardening. Survivors include: son, Don Stuart and wife, Barb, of Hesston, KS; daughter, Cindy Ruiz and husband, Carlos, of Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren, Philip Stuart of McPherson, KS, Christopher Ruiz and wife, Elizabeth, of Eugene, OR, Heather Hamlin and husband, David, of Newton, KS, and Theresa Tapey of Albuquerque, NM; two great-grandchildren, Camden Tapey and Rosemary Ruiz; and numerous nieces and nephews. TAFOYA -- TOMMY 1940 - 1992 It is hard for me to fathom it's been 20 years that you left this world. So much has changed, but so much has remained the same. I'm having a Mass said for you today at 5:30PM at Assumption. We are all doing fine. Tom and Charlotte just celebrated 19 years of marriage. It's hard to believe Tomas is a senior at Pius. It looks like he's going to stay here and go to UNM next fall. He's still dancing. He'll be in the Nutcracker Ballet at Popejoy Hall this Holiday season. He's also active in the youth group at church an worked an outside job this summer. He came home terribly hot and dirty everyday. It made him realize college is definitely in his future! Tatiana is a sophomore at Pius. She's a beautiful girl still doing her first love...dancing! She's a good student and works hard for every grade she gets. Lucretia has changed jobs and is now at UNM hospital. She also did taxes for H&R Block last tax season and really enjoyed it. She's going to do it again this year. Her four-legged family keeps her busy. Nep and Bianca are doing well. He's working for FedEx and she's at Lovelace. Evangelee is in 7th grade already. She's another beauty. People say she looks like me when I was younger, especially the eyes. She likes playing volleyball, basketball and softball. She's a good student. Samantha is in 3rd grade and quite the softball player. She's a darling girl and hard-working in school. She'll make her First Communion in May. Fred is 4 1/2 going on 30. He's very curious and loves to sing and go on hikes. He's a handful but he makes us laugh more than yell so we'll keep him. He reminds me a lot of his dad. Mary Trinnie and Gerald will married 16 years on the 28th. Gerald competed in the National Truck Rodeo competition again. They just got back from Minneapolis and spent a day at the Mall of America. Fernando is now 20. He's living in Las Cruces. Gerald Paul is at a charter school that focuses on science, technology and aeronautics. He's still playing football and basketball, almost year-round. He loves it! Tommy Andres is in first grade at a charter school where he's learning the violin. He plays basketball and will start flag football next week. Carol was in California with Kevin for almost a year while Chris builds her house. She's staying with me during these final stages. We're enjoying each other's company, just like old times. My mom is doing pretty well. She's stubborn as ever. She had to get the battery replaced in her pacemaker a few months ago but recovered pretty quickly. She's done some remodeling in her house, it looks pretty good. I can't believe it, but in October we would have celebrated 50 years of marriage. Where has the time gone? You are missed everyday. WOODALL -- DORIS "DUSTY" Age 91, celebrated her homecoming with her Lord and husband, Woody, on Saturday, September 8, 2012 in Farmington, NM. Dusty was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, friend and teacher. She married Woody in 1947 and during their 44 years together became "world travelers." She also loved volunteering. She delivered Meals on Wheels and worked at the Albuquerque Rescue Mission for 25 years; and demonstrated her love for her Lord through countless hours of service to her church. What an organizer she was! Dusty loved teaching children and retired from Sandia Base Elementary School with 25 years of wonderful memories. She will fondly be remembered for all of the fun and excitement she and Woody provided for their family and friends, boating and water skiing at Conchas Lake. Dusty is survived by her three children; Wendy (Ross) Saiz, Terry Woodall, and Gary Woodall; and six special grandchildren. A celebration of Dusty's life will be held at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home in Farmington, NM at 10:30am Wednesday, September 12, 2012 preceded by a viewing at 10:00am. She will be laid to rest next to Woody at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas. LESTER -- DEBRA E. Age 56. Debi was a loving, caring wife, stepmother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. Others were inspired by her strong faith. Debi was fun loving, adventurous, charming, and comforting to all who knew her. She had a bright smile which she shared freely. Debi was loved by her family and friends. She was a great friend to all who knew her. Debi loved New Mexico. She enjoyed traveling and the adventures she would find along the way. Debi was the Parish Administrator at Christ the King Anglican Church of Albuquerque, NM. She had previously held the same position at St Marks on the Mesa Episcopal Church in Albuquerque, NM, and Christ the King Episcopal Church in Lakeland, FL. Debi was born to Fred Webb and Elizabeth Webb (Ours) in Columbus, OH, in 1955. She married Arthur Lester in Fort Wayne, IN, in 1986. They moved to New Mexico in 1991. Debi is the stepmother to Jacob Lester and his wife Wendi Lester of Morrisville, NC, and Matthew Lester of South Bend, IN. She is the grandmother to three granddaugh- ters whom she loved very much. She is the sister to Robert Webb of Rio Rancho, NM, Paul Webb of Lakeland, FL, Kevin Webb of Orlando, FL, Tim Webb, of Winter Haven, FL, and Fred Webb of Columbus, OH. Debi also loved her numerous nieces and nephews. She enjoyed sunrises, sunsets, moons, and star filled nights. Her wonderful life was cut short after a brief battle with lung cancer caused by secondhand smoke. BUSH -- MARGERY ANN HUTSELL Age 90, died peacefully at her home on 9/2/2012 from complications of Parkinson's disease. She was born January 10, 1922, in Couer d'Alene, Idaho, daughter of Robert C. and Flo Hutsell, who, with sister, Carol, predeceased her. She is survived by Billy Bush, her loving and devoted husband of 67 years. Also surviving her are sons Michael, with wife, Cindy and grandchildren Erin and Andrew, and Steven, with wife, Peggie Findlay, granddaughter, Alex Hickman, and grandson, Brendan Dorsey. Her sister, Betty, also survives her. Margery was raised during the difficult circumstances of the Great Depression, learning the values of hard work, fortitude, and self-reliance from an early age. Her family was familiar with the practice of "farm to table" as a matter of survival. She obtained her pilot's license as a teen-ager, flying float planes off Couer d'Alene Lake and, later, worked in the defense plants during WWII. She earned a 4H scholarship to the University of Idaho where she obtained Bachelor's degrees in Pre-nursing and Home Economics, and where she managed the dormitory food services for those returning to study on the GI Bill. She was married to Billy Bush in January 1945, while he was on shore leave from the Navy, and spent the next 67 years in a loving, collaborative and mutually supportive relationship. Her lifelong loves were family, hospitality, her kitchen and her garden. She had an innate appreciation of the beauty of Creation, whether experienced in the mountains of her native state, the redwood groves of California or the vistas of New Mexico, and believed strongly in its preservation. She had a humble and kind heart, a practical and down to earth understanding of human nature and the strongest loyalty to family and friends. She has been much admired and much loved and will be missed by all who have known her. A memorial service is to be scheduled at a time to be determined later in the fall.

PONCE -- NATALIA BACA Age 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1965 passed away peacefully on Saturday September 8, 2012. She was born in Leasburg, NM to Susana and Andres Baca. Natalia was a hard working and fun loving person who enjoyed dancing, bowling and making red chile for her family. She retired from the Department of Energy after 28 years of service in 1993. She is survived by her daughters Patricia Dudley, Cecilia Nolan and husband Mark; son Phillip Ponce and companion Debra Fiene; and son Roderick Ponce. Natalia was given the gift of six grandchildren, Christopher Dudley and wife Amber, Tanya Dudley Kluender and husband Scott, Matthew Nolan and wife Jenny, Tara Nolan Finau and husband Joe, Jessica Ponce Smallwood and husband JR, and Andrea Ponce. Natalia lived a long and full life and was able to witness the birth of great -grandchildren, Ella Marie and Shea Elizabeth Dudley, Isla Natalia Nolan, and Jackson Smallwood. Natalia came from a large family, and was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Beatrice, Reynaldo, Raul, and Federico. She is survived by her siblings, Lilia, Virginia, Antonio and Emilio and many other family and friends. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 12 at 7:00 pm at French - University Chapel. WICK -- LUCY ELIZABETH Age 89, died September 4, 2012 at her home in Albuquerque. Lucy Elizabeth Allan was born March 27, 1923 in Tuttle, ND, the youngest of seven children born to Fred and Mamie (Shier) Allan. Lucy's father was a pharmacist, and her first work experience was helping her dad at his drugstore. She was educated in Tuttle, graduating from Tuttle High School in 1941. Lucy married Glen E. Wick on October 19, 1941 in a double wedding with her sister Marge and her fianc Gilbert Shirley. Both grooms were natives of neighboring Robinson, ND and were home on leave from Camp Claiborne, LA where they were in training with the United States Army. Seven weeks after the double wedding the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. North Dakota's 164th infantry was sent to The Dalles, OR where the immediate assignment was to guard Bonneville Dam and other important facilities from a possible Japanese attack. Lucy and Marge were able to join their husbands in The Dalles for what turned out to be an almost pleasant non-event in World War II, but by the summer of 1942 their husbands were en route to Guadalcanal, Bougainville, and the Philippines "for the duration". As war widows, Lucy and Marge made their way back to Bismarck, ND where they found employment with the A. W. Lucas department store, serving as sales clerks and models for Lucas newspaper ads. Glen and Lucy were reunited in early 1945 in Spokane, WA where Glen was admitted to Letterman General Hospital to recover from tropical diseases he had been stricken with while on Bougainville. After recovery and discharge from the Army they returned to Bismarck where Glen began a 32 year career with the Benson Optical Company. Glen was transferred to Billings, MT in 1948, returning to Bismarck in 1951. When their son started school, Lucy decided to become a working mom. She joined Vantine's Paint & Glass in 1954, serving as office manager for the flagship Bismarck store until 1968, the year that Glen was again transferred, this time to Albuquerque, NM. In Albuquerque Lucy became a housewife, but that didn't satisfy her industrious work ethic. She became intrigued with all sorts of crafts, at first concentrating on Ojo de Deos (Eyes of God), a local native symbol made of wood and yarn. Lucy made and sold enough Ojos that she was able to finance the purchase of a new Mercury Montego in 1972. Glen retired from Benson Optical in 1978, six weeks after the birth of his grandson Scott, and joined Lucy in what would become a "mom and pop" craft hobby/business. They designed and made a wide variety of country-styled wooden items. Glen literally wore out one bandsaw and many blades on a second commercial quality bandsaw, while Lucy handled most of the paintwork. When not working with wooden crafts, Lucy made literally hundreds of needlepoint Christmas ornaments. It is known that many of these ornaments remain in use throughout the United States. Shortly after moving to Albuquerque Lucy met Juli Lowey, her backyard neighbor at the time. Lucy was 45 and had a son about to graduate from college while Juli was a generation younger, just starting her family. And they shared a common interest - contract bridge. Lucy was invited to join their bridge club. Juli, Joan Reynolds, Sharon Hagenbuck, Janis Purcell, Rose Lane, Mary Stiles, Linda Connors, Betty Brooks, Sara Henderson, Cindy Wood, and others would be regulars of the club for over four decades, rarely missing a month without playing. The bridge gals, as they were known, would make a number of group trips over the years as the group evolved into more than just a bridge club. Lucy continued to play bridge until June 2012, actually winning high honors in what would prove to be her last bridge outing. Glen Wick died in 1995, and Lucy made the decision to stay in Albuquerque, desiring to continue living in the house that had been her home since 1969. She enjoyed excellent health until about age 85 when failing eyesight, diminished hearing, heart disease, and other ailments began to make this more and more of a challenge. Her immediate family was 1200 miles away, but the bridge gals along with a combination of close friends and neighbors would become her guardian angels, helping with all sorts of things to allow Lucy to live her dream, living independently in her home as long as possible. A health crisis in 2010 resulted in meeting Melissa Sandoval, a home health care nurse who happened to live just two blocks away. Her daughter Amanda, later joined by younger daughter Allyson, would become additional care givers, and they would become a virtual part of Lucy's family. And starting in July 2012 a number of Hospice personnel would become part of Lucy's life. Despite all sorts of physical ailments Lucy's mind was sharp to the end, and with her vibrant personality and positive outlook she became a favorite of the Hospice crew. And this admiration was two-way. Lucy Wick is survived by her son Doug, daughter-in-law Fran, and grandson Scott, all of Bismarck, ND. Other survivors include sisters-in-law Mavis Allan of Dickinson, ND and Gladys Wick of Robinson, ND; nieces Barbara (Ralph) Angus of Washington, WV, Nancy (Dennis) Alfton of Golden Valley, MN, Jill (Doug) Joersz of Bismarck, Deb (Virgil) Wisdom of Washburn, ND, and Sarah Bowerman of Wilton, ND; nephews Bob (Paulette) Allan of Dickinson, Stephen, Tim, and Scott Wilson of West Virginia, Bob (LaDonna) Bowerman of Robinson, ND, and Donnie and Mitch Wick of Dawson, ND; and numerous grand nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Glen; sisters Marjorie "Marge" (Gilbert) Shirley and Mildred "Jeanie" (Paul) Wilson; an infant brother along with brothers Robert V. Allan, George Allan, and Pete (Jeanne) Allan; infant nephew/niece twins, and nephews Rev. Tom Allan and Rick Bowerman. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Mercedes Sanchez; brother, Claude Sanchez; and sisters, Erlinda Sanchez, Lilly Carasco, Nona Castillo and Tillie Fresquez. Ruben was a lifelong New Mexico resident and an active real estate developer. He was an avid sports fan and a doting father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by his family and friends. GERETY -- EDWARD JOSEPH was born at home on December 20, 1918 and died at home September 7, 2012 as a result of injuries sustained from a fall. He was born in Shelton, Connecticut, the fifth of nine boys of Peter Leo Gerety and Charlotte Ursula Daly. His father said, "We'll take nothing but the best from the children" and indeed, they got nothing but the best. Edward was precocious in school, skipping two grades and graduating from high school at age 15 in 1934. Although he had earned a scholarship to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, he was unable to take advantage of it. He and his brothers had to postpone their higher education in order provide for their family after their father was disabled by Parkinson's disease. Edward went to work for the Bullard Company where he filled many positions, including one as a machinist. He left the employ of others to establish the Henry and Gerety construction firm in Fairfield, Connecticut in 1938. His career in the construction industry was successful but interrupted by World War II. He enlisted in the Marines in 1942 and attended the Pensacola Intermediate Training School for Naval Aviators. There, although he had only a high school education and was competing with college-educated officers, he earned the second highest score ever recorded, wings as a Naval aviator and a commission as an officer in the Marine Corps. He was deployed to the Pacific theater as a Corsair fighter pilot where he flew 110 missions and earned numerous military decorations. Upon complet- ion of his Pacific tour, he returned to the United States as a Naval flight instructor. In the course of his service he also met Marine Lieutenant Margaret Schneider of Reno, Nevada, whom he wed at Camp Pendleton on September 4, 1945. For the rest of his life he would say to his children, "Your mother is the best thing that ever happened to me." After leaving the Marines as a newly married man, Edward returned to his work with the Henry and Gerety firm. His image served as an icon of the retuning soldier in July 1947 when it graced the cover of The Saturday Evening Post. That same year, when higher education became possible because of the GI bill, he returned to school as a night student. Because of his stellar performance in flight school, he had become convinced that college work could not be too difficult. Although others spent their free time in World War II differently, Ed devoted his time to self-study, buying textbooks in mathematics, physics, fluid mechanics, biology and other subjects to pour over when he was not flying. When he entered night classes at the University of Bridgeport, he sat for comprehensive examinations, earning substantial credits toward graduation. He finished with honors after only two and one-half years of night classes. After graduation, he was accepted to Yale Medical School, but only after successfully appealing an administrative rejection based on age. At the time of his entrance into Medical School, he had three children and was 35 years old. He graduated from Yale in 1954 with five children, earning the Parker prize for the student "who has shown the best qualifications for a successful practitioner." He then entered an internship at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland which he completed in 1955 with six children. He returned to Connecticut and established a general practice with his brother Robert, who had graduated from Yale medical school two years earlier. In 1961, now with seven children, the pull of additional education led him away from Connecticut to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he entered a University of Colorado-sponsored surgical training program at the Albuquerque VA Hospital and Bernalillo County Indian Hospital. Resident housing was available on the VA campus. He often said that Sears and Roebuck made it possible for him to become a surgeon. Their triple-deck bunks allowed his nine-person family to live in the 800 sq. ft. quarters. He completed his surgical training in 1965. Shortly thereafter, he joined forces with Dr. Robert Castillo and others to form Surgical Associates, PA, still an active surgical practice in Albuquerque. In 1969, he once again felt the need to advance his knowledge and skills. He was intrigued by evolving new cardiovascular surgery techniques. He took a leave of absence from his practice, sought cardiac surgery training at Presbyterian Hospital in San Francisco, returned to New Mexico, and entered practice with Dr. Bud Wilson. Together, they and others brought cardiovascular surgery and intensive care technology to New Mexico. After many years of successful practice, he retired in 1983. Retirement did not spell the end of his contributions to society. Indeed, he said that retirement could mean the true beginning of his meaningful life because it would allow him time to devote himself to contribution without the daily toil of struggle for survival. He began to study computers, took up the piano, and joined the Board of the Santa Fe Opera Foundation. From 1981 to 1990, he served as member, President, and then Chairman of the Board of the Opera Foundation. During his tenure in leadership, the Santa Fe Opera achieved its long-time goal of financial security. In recognition of his success in leadership of the Opera Foundation, he was enlisted by the Ford Foundation National Arts Stabilization program to assist other arts organizations in building a sustainable financial basis. His work with the Ford Foundation continued for several years. Ed did not only focus on academic achievement and hard work. In 1970 he and his wife Peggy built their dream house in the village of Los Ranchos - one which would house all their children, permit horses, and attract their grandchildren. He followed his athletic wife Peggy eagerly into sports and the outdoors. Family vacations were often camping vacations where their love of nature was passed on to their children. Peggy and Ed took frequent advantage of the ski slopes in New Mexico and the Rocky mountains. He prided himself on free ski passes upon reaching his seventies. They were avid riders with the Juan Tomas Hounds, a hunt club, where Peggy served as Secretary, Treasurer and President. He remained active athletically into his mid-eighties. Ed and Peggy were not typical parents. They raised their children based on his parents' philosophy. They taught their children not to lie by "always believing them" and made them successful by expecting "only the best" from them. They pursued Rudolf Dreikurs' philosophy of instructing children to understand the consequences of their actions by allowing them to experience those very consequences. There were very few rules and little punishment but very high expectations. They believed in the value of higher education and expected all of their children to earn post-graduate degrees. An early feminist, Ed encouraged his daughters to have high ambitions. He often said he "wanted his daughters to have an education so they didn't have to depend on any S.O.B. for a living." Throughout his life he was blessed by astounding intelligence, great health, and insuperable optimism. All of his seven children, twenty-two grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren felt truly loved and accepted by him. This love is indelible and will be with them for the rest of their lives. Dr. Edward J. Gerety is survived by many, including, his brothers, Rev. Peter Leo Gerety, retired Archbishop of Newark, NJ, Robert Gerety, MD, of Vermont; wife, Margaret H. Gerety; and his children, son, Edward J. Gerety Jr., a small businessman in Miami, Florida; son, Michael Gerety, geophysicist and artist, of Provence, France; two grandchildren, Ryan and Jessica and two great-grandchildren, Adam and Liam; son, Richard Gerety, MD, and wife, Lynn Longfield, MD, of Albuquerque; four grandsons, Patrick, Christopher, Peter and Matthew; daughter, Meghan Gerety, MD, and her husband, John Alberts; four grandchildren, Shannon, Joseph, Sam and Hannah and two great-grandchildren, David and Michaela; son, M. Colin Gerety, a small businessman, and wife, Sarah Fishburn of Fort Collins; four grandchildren, September, Corina, Sierra and Silver, and eight great-grandchildren Dante, Sebastian, Billy, Trinity, Marcus, Kayla, Ezra, and Elspeth; daughter, Moira Gerety, an IT executive, and husband, Steve Summers of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Celeste, Melina, Danelle, Adam, Mario and Shannon and two great-grandchildren, Corbin and Christian; and daughter, Brigid Gerety, MD, and husband, Carl Hawkins of Athens, GA and two grandchildren, Georgia and Charlotte. All who knew Ed saw him as a formidable man who inspired others all his life. He was unique, a force of nature. He believed in the spiritual growth of man, the maturation of human society and a better future. He will be missed by all. WOODALL -- HASKELL NEAL Age 83, a resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, September 10, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Florence; his children, Stephen Woodall of Albuquerque, NM; William Woodall and wife Melissa of Vista, CA Michael Woodall and wife Connie of Branson, MO; Lynne Harper and husband Johnnie of Albuquerque, NM; nine grandchildren, Alisha and husband Andrew; Johnathan and wife Maricela; Napalonia, Neal, Dillon, Selina, Austin, Devin, and Ryan; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Rose and Alexander Lee; and many other family and friends. Mr. Woodall was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Grady and Virginia French Woodall. He served our country in the United States Air Force and then worked for Sandia National Labs from 1957 until his retirement in 1993. VERHINES -- JACK Memorial services are scheduled at 11 :00a.m. Wednesday, September 12 at the First United Methodist Church for Jack Verhines, Professional Engineer, Artesia, N.M. A native New Mexican and respected member of the New Mexico engineering community passed away on September 9, 2012 at the age of 80. He was born May 30, 1932 in Roswell, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents William Carl Verhines and Mary Lynn (Scott) Verhines. He married Corinne Aaron on May 30, 1953 in Artesia, NM and they were sweethearts for 59 years. He is survived by his wife Corinne; his son Scott Verhines and wife Cathy Cobb Verhines of Albuquerque; daughter Carla Dungan and husband Neal Dungan of Carlsbad; as well as two siblings, his brother Bill Verhines and wife LaGene of Roswell; and sister Kathleen West and husband James West of Ft. Sumner. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Toby Verhines of Baltimore, MD, Katie Verhines of Crofton, MD, Allison Dungan of Albuquerque, Katie Verhines of Crofton, MD and Barry Dungan of Las Cruces, as well as one great grandchild Camryn Fay Norsworthy of Crofton, MD. He attended Roswell High School and Eastern New Mexico University on a football scholarship. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. After the army he returned to Texas Tech University in Lubbock and then completed his civil engineering degree (BSCE, 1958) from the University of New Mexico. He was a part of the New Mexico consulting engineering community for over 40 years providing engineering services to cities, counties, state and federal agencies, and private clients statewide. He started his career with Hughes Oil Company, worked for Mann Engineering and Smith Engineering Company and served as President of Scanlon and Associates for 30 years. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers at The Good Life Assisted Living Complex and the Landsun Homes Health Service Center in Carlsbad.
