BUBP -- EILEEN SELMA Age 74, a long time resident of Albuquerque died August 24, 2012, at Canyon Rehabilitation Center, after a long battle with Parkinson's. She was born on February 5, 1938 in Celina Ohio, to Albert and Marcella Clausing. She graduated from New Knoxville High School in 1956. She continued her education, graduating from the Lima school of Business. Eileen was married to Gene LeRoy Bubp on March 15, 1958. They then moved to Detroit Michigan, finally residing in Albuquerque NM in 1972. Eileen was the secretary for the District Superintendent of the United Methodist Church, followed by 17 years as the office manager of the Albuquerque Hearing and Speech Center. Eileen was also a very active member at St. Johns Methodist Church. Her passions were butterflies, sewing, cake decorating and gospel music. Eileen is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gene; sons, Doug, Dana and their spouses; daughter Kendra Stoma and spouse; four grandchildren; brother, Dean Clausing. Preceded in death by infant daughter Brenda Lynn Bubp. A memorial service will be held at Riverside Funeral Home in Albuquerque, on Saturday, September 1st at 2:00pm.

CHAVEZ -- SOPHIA "SOPHIE" M. Age 89, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend completed her journey on this earth and entered into eternal life with the Lord, Sunday, August 26, 2012 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Bernalillo on September 17, 1922. Sophie was a life long resident of Bernalillo and is where she lovingly raised her family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony A. Chavez; daughter-in-law, Rosalita Chavez; brother, Randy Hurtado; sister, Dolores Hurtado and her parents. Sophie is survived by her loving children, Ruth Lopez and husband Richard, Mildred and Errol Chavez; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Viola Garcia, Josephine Bernal and husband Jesse; five godchildren; sister-in-law, Ruby Chavez; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. A visitation will take place at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 301 Camino del Pueblo, Bernalillo, NM, Tuesday, August 28, 2012 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm followed by a reciting of the Rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will also be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 11:00 am; Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 2:15 pm. Pallbearers are Eddie DeLara, George Gabaldon, Santiago Montoya, Richard Lopez, Mark A. Lopez and Antoinette Garcia. Honorary pallbearers are Bruce Gibson, Justin Sisneros, Benito Mirabal, Joey Garcia, Joel Archuleta, Joseph Hurtado and Robert Bernal. Sophie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. FRESQUEZ -- ALVINO Age 84, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2012. He was born on January 6, 1928. He and his wife Tillie were married 51 years. He proudly served his country in the Korean War. He worked for the telephone company approximately 30 years and then retired. Alvino enjoyed traveling and visiting his family who lived in various parts of the country and the world. When at home, his passion was fishing. He fished in almost all of the lakes in New Mexico including Cochiti, Bluewater, Elephant Butte, Santa Rosa, Roswell, and Heron. He was also a talented artist, and enjoyed working in his garden. He was a member of Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church. Alvino is survived by his three daughters, Diane Fresquez Hudson and husband Richard of Brussels, Belgium, Maureen Smith and husband Steve of Frisco, TX, and Arlene Fresquez Patrick and husband Mark, of Summit, NJ; five granddaughters; brothers and sisters, Prestina Sanchez-Davis of Albuquerque, Effie Fresquez Chavez of Albuquerque, Gloria Mendola and husband Peter of Roswell, NM; Linda Yrisarri of Anaheim, CA; Chris Fresquez and wife Marilyn of Belen, NM, and Anthony Fresquez and friend Gerri Candelaria of Rio Rancho, NM; and many nieces and nephews. JAMES -- BETTY REED was born on August 28, 1947 in Youngstown, Ohio to Merl and Norma Reed. Her family moved to Albuquerque in 1956 where Betty graduated from Sandia High School in 1965. Betty then attended UNM and received Masters in both Public Administration and Criminal Justice. Betty had many honors as an educator and rehabilitation counselor. She helped thousands of people, in multiple states and even started a homeless shelter for teens. If anyone needed help they could count on her open door policy. Betty would help if you needed a place to sleep, something to eat or just a friend to talk to. She would always be the first to help in any way she could. Betty was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Reed and a sister, Patty Lewis. She survived by her father, Merl Reed; sister, Sally Wiscott; son, Michael James and wife Renee; brother-in-law, Ronnie Wiscott; and many nieces, nephews, and many, many close friends. "Lupe" Pena was born December 12, 1919 in Otis, New Mexico to Demetrio and Cayetana (Chacon) Pena. He was a rancher during his young life. Lupe married Anita Navarrette in 1940 and they soon began their family. He worked for Eddy County from 1954 to 1970, after which he moved to Albuquerque and began working for the Department of Transportation. Lupe retired in 1985. His life wish was to own a small ranch and ride horses. Lupe's wish was granted living in Belen, New Mexico where he enjoyed life. Later he moved back to Albuquerque. Lupe's last desire was to come back home to Carlsbad where he will be laid to rest. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lupito and several brothers and sisters. Survivors are his wife, Anita Pena of Albuquerque, NM; 14 children: Delma Lopez of Carlsbad, NM, Elizema Pena of Carlsbad, NM, Demetrio Pena and wife, Mary of Tucson, AZ, Samuel Pena of Tucson, AZ, Mary H. SANCHEZ -- LUCIANO (LUCUS) Age 54 , a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Saturday August 25, 2012. Luciano is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years Dee Dee Sanchez; daughter, Tanya Arellano, husband, Manuel and two sons, Luciano Sanchez II and wife, Jessica and Nathan Lucero; eight beautiful granddaughters, Eileena, Sophia, Antonia, Isabella, Alejandra, Arianna, Natalie and Vanessa; sisters, Viola, Jessie and husband Fred and Vera; one brother, Frank and wife, Lily; and several nieces and nephews. SMITH -- GUADALUPE "LUPE" Born on May 2, 1931 in San Fidel, New Mexico; passed from this world on August 23, 2012 surrounded by her family. Lorenzo and Clara Jaramillo raised Lupe in Cubero, New Mexico and she graduated from our Lady of Sorrows in Bernalillo in 1949. She met Louis Smith at a dance in 1953 when he was stationed here in the Army. They married that same year and began raising a family shortly thereafter. Louis was in the Army for almost half of their life together and they traveled extensively with their six children throughout their career. Lupe met every challenge put before her as a military wife and loved her family above all else. Lupe is survived by her husband of 59 years, Louis. Lupe is also survived by many members of the rather large Jaramillo clan, including her brother, Lorenzo Jaramillo; sisters Susie Soto, Mary Helen Lopez, and Marcella Baca; her children Louis and wife Mona, Kathy Trujillo and husband Gerry, Maria Hockerson, Patrick Kevin and wife Lynnetta, Tim and wife Amy, and Michele Giacomo and husband Michael; grandchildren Merlin Smith, Maaite Girdner, Jordan and Shelby Trujillo, Nick and Dillon Hockerson, Karly Gevas, Jasmine Ruth, Tim, Adam and Matthew Smith, Nicole Olivas, and Madison and Bianca Giacomo; great-grandchildren Ian and Anna Girdner and Brooklyn Olivas. VIGIL -- LLOYD J. (ELOY) age 92, passed away at his home, Friday, August 24, 2012. Lloyd was born November 30, 1919 in Raton, NM to Cesario Montes and Magdelina (Olivas) Vigil. As a young man, Lloyd moved to Albuquerque. With the exception of a brief period away during the war, Lloyd was a resident of Albuquerque his entire adult life. He was a graduate of Menaul High School and served in the US Army in WWII. He was a long time member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. He was a retired funeral director and embalmer and worked for Garcia Mortuary for many years. Lloyd, also known to some as, Eloy, enjoyed dining out and being outside-even when that included doing yard work. His biggest hobby, however, was being with his family. He loved his family and most of all; he liked being involved in their lives. Lloyd had a fun sense of humor and he always had nicknames for many in his family. Lloyd is survived by his beloved wife of forty years, Emily; three children, Carol Raymond of Northbrook, IL, Tobie Arnold and husband James of Mocksville, NC and Leonard Vigil and wife Christine of Phoenix, AZ. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Carrie Merner, Chrissy Cicuto, Christy Culpepper, Eli and Mason Vigil; six great-grandchildren, Gabriella and Alessia Cicuto, Aidan and Grant Merner, Masun and William Culpepper; two sisters, Christy Puncer and Bella Garcia; numerous nieces and nephews.
