ALEXANDER -- CATHERINE MAY RUSHFORD Age 88, long-time resident of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, went home to be with the Lord on May 13, 2012. Mrs. Alexander was born May 2, 1924, in Oacoma, South Dakota, to John Joseph Rushford and Eva Hanson Rushford. She married James Knox Alexander II on March 25, 1946. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her sisters Cleone Rushford Nicholson and Helen Rushford Boehme. Mrs. Alexander was a mother and housewife, became a licensed practical nurse and worked at Presbyterian Hospital and Anna Kaseman Hospital in Albuquerque. She and her husband moved to Santa Fe where she worked at St. Vincent Hospital and retired. She later moved back to Albuquerque to be closer to family. She is survived by her son, James Knox Alexander III and his wife, Diane Alexander; her daughter, Evelyn Alexander and her husband, Thomas Kennerly. Mrs. Alexander also is survived by grandchildren Wendy Sultzman and her husband, Kurt Sultzman, Jennifer Williams and her husband, James Williams, Paul Kennerly and his wife, Rebecca Kennerly, Daniel Kennerly and Stephanie Roe, James Knox Alexander IV, and Joshua Alexander. Other survivors include great-grandchildren Kelsey, Eric and Dominic Sultzman, Katharine, Matthew, Brennan and Benjamin Williams, and Alexis and Anya Kennerly. Mrs. Alexander also is survived by her brother, John Rushford; and sister, June Rushford Travaille. Other survivors include cousins, nieces and nephews. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Monday, May 21st at 9:00a.m. At 12 noon that same day, a memorial service will be at Calvary of Albuquerque, 4001 Osuna Rd. NE, in Albuquerque.

ANTAL -- TIMOTHY S. "TIM" Age 42, peacefully passed away surrounded by family, Monday, May 14, 2012. He is greatly missed by his wife of 17 years, Terrie; sons, Scott and Greg; Momma Carol; daughter-in-law, Darlene; and many friends and loved ones. He was an amazing husband and devoted father. ARAGON -- JOSE A. Age 86, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on May 17, 2012. BECK -- ROBERT W. Age 76, born July 16, 1935, passed away May 9,2012. Bob has left this earthly place for the promised land of peace, joy and no more suffering. He is survived by his wife, Alda; brothers, Dave Stinson and wife, Cindy, of St. Louis, MO and Bill Beck and wife Gale of Las Vegas, NV. Bob was very active in New Life City Church. BROWN -- DOROTHY AMELIA Dorothy Amelia (Swanner) Brown, (74) passed away Wednesday, May 16 following a brief battle with cancer. She was born July 4, 1937 in Baltimore, Maryland. She is survived by her husband, Andrew; daughter, Lora Lee and husband, Dan Dunlap; daughter, Andrea and husband, Paul Holt; son, Scot Brown; sister, Sallie and husband, Chuck Werkmeister; brother, Lester and wife, Kaffee Swanner; niece, Kate and nephews, Scott and John. Dorothy loved her grandchildren: Cari, Adam and fiancee, Sarahjess and Amanda Dunlap; Rachel and Rebekah Holt; Dominic, Jesse and Justin Brown; and great-grandchild, Morgan Dunlap, due in August. Dorothy was an active member of the New Day congregation at Central United Methodist Church in Albuquerque, where she always sat right up front, volunteered in the thrift shop and helped with Sunday lunches. She loved genealogy and animals. She enjoyed traveling, especially on cruise ships. During her extensive adventures, she unknowingly opened her heart and home to individuals around the world with a warm smile and jolly laugh. As her mom said to her, and she frequently repeated, "This too shall pass." The memorial service will be Monday, May 21 at 1:30 at Central United Methodist Church, 201 University, NE. FOLLO -- RALPH JR. age 82 of Ponderosa, NM passed away Wednesday May 16, 2012. He was born on January 20, 1930 in New Britain, Ct., to Ralph and Carmela Follo Sr. Mr. Follo was a retiree of the United States Air Force as well as the United States Postal Service and was currently work as a Front Desk Clerk at the Elk Horn Lodge in Chama, NM. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Nellie; his sons, Robert A. Follo and Larry R. Follo; his daughters, Karen Stowman, Veronica (Orlando) Garcia, Donna Philbin, Tina (Jayson) Serda and Theresa Ulibarri and Jesus Maes; seven grandchildren, Bobby Follo, Tanya (Leon) Salazar, Christopher (Elizabeth) Garcia, Britini Garcia, Ashley Serda, Jayson Serda and Brandon Stowman; great-grandchildren, Joylen, Leon, Alysa and Defearian; three brothers; and one sister also survive. GARCIA -- STANLEY A. Age 60, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, passed away at home with his family at his side, on May 17, 2012 after battling leukemia for one and a half years. Mr. Garcia is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Lucy; sons, Jeremy and girlfriend, Jennifer and son, Adrian, and Phillip and wife, Kierstin; grandson, Damian D'Andre; his mother, Stella Garcia; sisters, Kathy Perea and husband, Pablo, Isabel Garcia and fiance, Richard Maldonado; brothers, Emilio C. Garcia, and girlfriend, Dorothy, Rudy Garcia and wife, Teri; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joe and Angie Marino; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Mr. Garcia was preceded in death by his father, Emilio T. Garcia. Stanley was a member of the Catholic Church, a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam Era, and was a graduate of Rio Grande High School, Class of 1970. He retired from Kirtland Air Force Base in 2005, and coached Y.A.F.L. in Los Lunas, was assistant football coach at St. Pius High School, Manzano High School, Sandia High School, Los Lunas High School, and Belen High School, and was head coach at Bernalillo High School. Stanley enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his one and only precious grandson, Damian, as well as traveling, hunting, fishing, and caring for his animals. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 301 Stover Ave. SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by Jose Maria Perea y Los Hermanos de la Morada de San Jose de Los Ranchos de Atrisco. GREER -- MARION F. Passed away on April 21, 2012 at the age of 96 in Murfreesboro, TN. She was born August 25, 1915 in Newport News, VA. She lived in Albuquerque, NM for 47 years until the death of her husband, Lt. Col. (Ret.) William H. (Harry) Greer in 2007, at which time she moved to Murfreesboro to be near her nephew. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Roberta Davis Stinemeyer. Marion and Harry were married on November 28, 1936 in Hilton Village, VA and they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 2006. During WWII, she worked for the Hampton Roads Port of Embarkation as comptometor operator. Subsequent to WWII, Marion and Harry were stationed at numerous duty posts in the US and also in Germany in the early 1950's. Marion was a long time member of Trinity Methodist Church and Daughters of the Nile and was well known for her legendary hostess skills, as she and Harry loved to entertain. They were also avid travelers and traveled to many foreign countries as well as all 50 states. An infant daughter and brothers, George and Harry Stinemeyer preceded her in death. She is survived by nephew, William H. (Bill) Greer and wife, Juanita of Murfreesboro, TN; and nieces, Nancy Martin of Maryland, and Carolyn Oliveri of Virginia. GUERIN -- GENE L. Age 82, a resident of Albuquerque, died Friday, May 18, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Alicia Guerin; children, Stephanie Guerin, Damian Guerin and spouse, Stacy, Peter Guerin and spouse, Kerri, Paul Guerin and spouse, Martha, Eva-Maria Thomas and spouse, Richard and Thea Guerin; 14 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; siblings, Marlene Guerin Gonzales and spouse, Gilbert, Kenneth Guerin and spouse, Melba, and Thomas Guerin and spouse, Tersila; also survived by much loved godchildren, nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his infant son, Jean Baptiste Guerin and his parents, John Guerin and Alice Angel Guerin. Gene was devoted to attendance at daily Mass, praying the Divine Office, and the Rosary. He had a special love for Our Blessed Mother, St. Therese the Little Flower and St. Anthony. He enjoyed making rosaries to share with others, was a Santero and was an excellent wood worker, who made such things as cradles, hobby horses and nativity sets for his grandchildren. He loved gardening and sitting quietly outdoors enjoying God's creation. HVIZDA -- GEORGE J. passed away in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on Tuesday, May 8, 2012. He was 86. Born in Mt. Carmel, PA, Mr. Hvizda was a resident of Levittown, PA for 50 years with his late wife, Agnes. While residing in Levittown, Mr. Hvizda was a member of Saint Michael the Archangel Parish, and Seniors Club. He was also a member of the former Sheraton Swim Club. Mr. Hvizda had resided in Rio Rancho, New Mexico with his daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Robert Fanning for nearly eight years. While in New Mexico, Mr. Hvizda was a member of the Meadowlark Fishing Club and the Rio Rancho Veterans Coffee Group. He was a much beloved member of his New Mexico community and enjoyed exploring the state with his family. A veteran of World War II with the Eighth Air Force, Mr. Hvizda served in England and Germany. He retired from SPS Technologies, Jenkintown, PA in 1986 after 35 years of service. After retirement the Hvizda's traveled to Hawaii and other locations. Beloved husband of the late Agnes (Suszczewicz), Mr. Hvizda was the loving father of Frances Fanning. George Hvizda has one surviving sister, Helen Yankowski of East Newark, NJ. Interment will be at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne, PA.

JARAMILLO -- JOE PETE Age 82, died peacefully at home Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Born July 23, 1929, he fought a valiant three year battle with cancer. Joe Pete was born in the Village of Los Ranchos to Miguel and Francisquita Jaramillo. Pete was a farmer for more than 50 years in the North Valley. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, and a member Post 69 where he served proudly in the honor guard for many years. He was a lifetime member of Sociedad Nuevo Mexicana de Mutua Proteccion No. 2 of Alameda, NM and of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Church. Joe Pete is survived by his beloved wife Tomasita of almost 60 years; his children, Panchita J. (PJ) King, husband Michael, Jose, wife Linda, Estella Martinez, husband Steve, Estevan, wife Fronia, Raul, wife Gail and Rebecca Contreras, husband Alex. Joe Pete is also survived by 12 grandchildren, Nicole Coons husband Andy, Damian King wife Rebekah, Steve Martinez wife Monica, Cody Jaramillo wife Amanda, Joshua Jaramillo, Daniel Jaramillo, Lindsey Patcha husband Patrick, Tomasita Martinez, Justina Perea, Justin Perea, Antonio Jaramillo and Kalynn Jaramillo; eleven great-grandchildren and another on the way. MESSERSMITH -- CATHERINE MARIE of Rio Rancho, NM passed away peacefully on May 9, 2012. She was born March 26, 1923, in Lindsey, OH to the Reverend and Mrs. Sherman and Burdena Yarger. Catherine is survived by her husband of 65 years, Reverend Alvin F. Messersmith (ret.); as well as older sister Helen Stalter and husband Marion; and numerous nephews and nieces. Catherine graduated magna cum laude from Wagner College in New York in 1945 with a BS in Chemistry and went on to hold laboratory analysis positions at Standard Oil of New Jersey and Collett-Week-Nibecker in Ossining, NY. Catherine was a lifelong Lutheran, her faith in Christ was an integral part of her life. She participated with her husband in church work in the four parishes he served in the Hudson Valley and in Rochester, NY and was active in Sunday school teaching, bible studies, and bell and vocal choirs. She served several terms as Hudson Conference President of Lutheran Women's Mission Society and as District President of Women's Aglow. Catherine and her husband became members of Community of Joy Lutheran Church in Rio Rancho when they moved to New Mexico 24 years ago, after retirement. She and Alvin traveled extensively. Catherine played piano and gave lessons, and she was an avid seamstress, making most of her own clothes for many years. Catherine will be missed by the many friends she made throughout her life. A memorial service to celebrate Catherine's life will be held at Community of Joy Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 26, at 2:00pm. It was Catherine's wish that memorial contributions be made to either the Community of Joy Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to the ELCA World Hunger or Disaster Response, which can also be designated through Community of Joy Lutheran Church, 841 Saratoga Dr NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144.

MORAN-PADILLA -- SOPHIA LEE "LISA" Sophia Lee Moran-Padilla, age 53 left our world on Thursday, May 17 after courageously battling cancer for seven years. She now peacefully joins her parents Joe and Connie Fernandez in heaven. Sophia is survived by her angelic husband, Thane Padilla along with her in-laws, father, Nino and step-mom, Nancy Padilla, and mother-in-law, Bettie Coen, four sisters and their spouses, Evelyn Fernandez, Monica and Manuel Ortiz, Angela and Richard Diedrich, Kassandra and Jared Ray, her brother Mario and his wife Linda and her brother-in-law and wife Rio and Michelle Padilla as well as step-sisters, Eurainya Thornton and Tiffany St. Peter, and beloved Nina Virgie. She has lovingly touched the lives of her thirty plus nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews who "Auntie Lisa Lee" continues to live through. "Auntie Lisa Lee" will always be remembered for her legacy of photography, artwork, clowns, exotic travel and adventures and her many, many adoring friends. Sophia's memorial service will be held on Friday, May 25th, 4:00pm, at the First Unitarian Church on Carlisle and Comanche.

PROKASH -- JEAN M. Age 88, passed away on May 12, 2012. Jean was born in Kewaynee, Wisconsin and moved to Albuquerque in 1951 with her husband Richard who preceded her in death in 1996. She is survived by her daughter Phyllis; son Chad and wife Tillie; daughter Jeri; grandson David and wife Angie; granddaughter LaVon Reed and husband Darrell; great-grandsons Calvin, Devin, and Hayden; and great-granddaughter Alyssa. She is also survived by nieces Barbara Young and family of Connecticut, Joy Ninedorf and husband Andy and their family of Wisconsin; nephew Scott Clark and family of Wisconsin; and by all those who thought of her as a "second mom". RAINIER -- BARBARA JEAN left this world on May 17, 2012 in Rio Rancho but she lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. She is survived by Jack Rainier her husband of 55 years as well as her daughter Shannon Johns and Shannon's husband Jason. Barbara was a devoted grandmother to her two grandchildren, Charlei and Mathias. Barbara also leaves her brother Bill Anderson who lives in Portland, Oregon and sister Gerry Anderson who lives in Eureka, California. Barbara was predeceased by parents, Franklin and Minnie (Wilhelmina DeNos) Anderson and sister Shirley Clark. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on 20 June 1932, Barbara spent most of her life in Southern California. She and her husband Jack moved to New Mexico in 1997 settling in Rio Rancho. While in California, Barbara spent many hours on art projects creating etched glass panels when she wasn't working as a hair stylist. Barbara was always an optimist who looked on the bright side of life. She took these words from poet Billy Collins to heart... RIVERA -- JOSE E. Age 78, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend was called home to the Lord on Sunday, May 6, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. Jose was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Connie Rivera. Jose was born in Las Vegas, NM and was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Air Force and the Army. Jose and his wife moved to Alb., where he started his career and raised his family. He graduated from the University of Albuquerque, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. His major was in Accounting and his minor was in Business Economics. His first job was with the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission; he then went to work for Sandia National Labs and also taught part-time for 16 years at TVI. He retired from Sandia National Labs after 35 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, he was a history buff and loved to paint, draw and listen to music. Jose is survived by his children, Felipe (Phil) and fiance Maritza, Kathy Sierra, Joseph and wife Jamie, and Steven and wife Sarah; grandchildren, Phillip and wife Jennifer, Michael and fiance Kelli, Nicole Sierra, Jordan and Aydan, Tara and Dax; and four great-grandchildren, Stephen, Tristen, Brennan and Joel; brother-in-law Tony Escudero and wife Tillie; and numerous other relatives and friends. We will miss you daddy, but we know that we will see you and mom again one day. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Joe and Damien for taking such good care of our father and our thanks to the staff at Presbyterian Hospice. SQUYRES -- LUCILLE Age 88, resident of Albuquerque since 1936, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012, surrounded by her family. Lucille is survived by her daughters, Judy Brown, and her husband Herschel and Brenda Squyres; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; two great-great-great-grandchildren; sister Toni McLean; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Anna Mae and Thomas O. Meskimen; husband Alfred Squyres (Cowboy); son James Squyres; and four brothers. Lucille was born in Rogers, Arkansas on February 7, 1924. Lucille graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1941. She retired from New Mexico Game and Fish Hunter's Safety Program as their first Secretary. She was a successful business owner, and owned Totem Pole Antique and Curio for many years. Lucille is loved by everybody and will be greatly missed. STECK -- ARTHUR JOHN "JACK" May God welcome the soul of Jack Steck who passed on May 3, 2012 at age 91. Jack was born on January 3, 1921 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. A veteran of WWII, Jack served in the United States Navy from 1942-1945. Following his Naval service, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulsa University, and a Master of Arts degree from Columbia University. In 1948, Jack moved to Anthony, New Mexico to begin his teaching career at the Gadsen School District and continued teaching at the Carlsbad Public Schools. Later he moved to the Albuquerque Public Schools where he served as a Guidance Counselor until retirement. He was genuinely curious about social affairs and had an encyclopedic knowledge of New Mexican history and politics. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Helen Steck (nee Price); daughters, Julianne Steck of Aztec, New Mexico and Anita Steck of Silverton, Colorado; grandchildren, AJ Delap (Kristin), Trey Delap both of Henderson, Nevada, Rusty Melcher (Lisa Adair) and TJ Melcher, both of Silverton, Colorado; great-grandchildren, Julianne Delap, Jack Delap, both of Henderson, Nevada, and Marie Melcher of Silverton, Colorado. SYBERTZ -- LEWIS A. Age 73, born April 21, 1939 in Denver. Lew grew up in Richland, Washington and was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers. He graduated in Richland, Washington. Immediately after graduation he went into Army Special Forces for three years. He moved to Albuquerque at least 46 years ago, he was very active in the bowling community, serving on the local bowling association and state. He served the Albuquerque Bowling Association for many years and served as a director on the national board. He was instrumental in getting the national bowling tournament twice in Albuquerque. When he was no longer able to bowl he became an avid pool player with VNEA. He was always a favorite where ever he played and made many friends in the pool player's community. Lew is survived by his wife Judy of 30 years; two stepdaughters, Melisa Lopez and husband Albert of Albuquerque and Amy Bayless and husband Mitch of Tucson, Arizona; five grandchildren, Kylie, Corie, Trevor Pedroncelli, Gabbi and Noah Mendoza; two great-grandchildren, Shyanna Marie and Daniel William Lee Barker. Lew worked at MHQ Don Chalmers and has served the law enforcement agencies state wide for several years. He was a favorite vendor in the State of New Mexico. Lew will be greatly missed by his family, friends and associates. There will be a celebration of his life from 2:30pm-4:00pm on Monday May 21, 2012 at Skidmore's Holiday Bowl. She was born June 13, 1959 in Albuquerque, NM; moved to Lubbock, TX in the mid 90's and later returned to Albuquerque in 2008. She is survived by her two children: Manuel Torrez, Jr. and Mary Torrez; one grandchild: Savannah Torrez; her mother, Adele Segura; five siblings: Marcial Segura and wife Pauline Sanchez Segura, Adele Segura-Oswald and husband John Oswald, Joseph R. Segura, Linda Murphy and husband Phillip Murphy, Grace Kittrell and husband Chris Kittrell; nine nephews and nieces: Michael Romero, Matthew Segura, Eric Romero Versig, Megan Murphy, Justin Murphy, Jacob "Jake" Murphy, Ashley Kittrell, Kelly Kittrell and Sidney Kittrell. She was preceded in death by her father, Jose Moises Segura (Sept. 4, 1923 - May 2, 1990); and beloved maternal grandmother, Bernadette Pacheco (Oct. 16, 1894 - Sept. 5, 1983). A graveside service will be officiated over by Pastor Don Cobbs at Mount Calvary Cemetery on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with interment immediately following. WILLIAMS -- CHARLES S. JR. Age 92, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on May 8, 2012. Mr. Williams was born in Oklahoma to Charles S. Williams Sr. and Gladys Williams. He attended Princeton University and the University of Oklahoma (OU) where he received two Master degrees, one in Mathematics and one in Electrical Engineering. He then taught Mathematics at OU. Charles later served in World War II and in the Korean War. He married his first wife Grace W. Williams in Oklahoma in 1947. They moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1952 where he taught Mathematics at the University of New Mexico prior to accepting a position as an Electrical Engineer at Sandia Laboratories. He met and married his second wife Francisca Duran in Albuquerque, NM. He retired from Sandia Laboratories in 1989. Charles enjoyed playing tennis, hiking in the Sandia's and fine dining with a good cigar. He was an avid traveler, a history buff, a wine enthusiast and a great source of information on any topic. His motto was: Go ahead ask me anything! He received numerous high awards and acknowledgements including the Exceptional Achievement Award from the Department of the Navy and the Award of Excellence from Sandia National Laboratories among others. He is much loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. ZABST -- HELEN R. Passed away peacefully on April 11, 2012 in Simi Valley, California. She was 92 years old. Helen is survived by her son, Rich; daughter-in-law Aimee; grandson, Kyle; and granddaughter Rachel, all of Simi Valley, California. Helen was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 14, 1920. She married her life-long husband, Dick in 1946 and was married 59 years until Dick's passing in 2005. Helen and Dick retired to Albuquerque in 1976 where they enjoyed the warm climate and New Mexican hospitality. They enjoyed square dancing, site seeing and were active members of First Congregational Church. Helen had many different occupations throughout her life including administrative assistant, pharmacist assistant and volunteer at local elementary schools, but she will mostly be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother. A memorial service will be held for Helen at Las Colinas Independent Living Center, 500 Paisano NE, (505) 291-0600 at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 26th.
