Phillips and her husband, Lee; son, Clifford Keith Grigsby and his wife, Patty; grandchildren, James Phillips and wife, Diane, Joshua L. Phillips and Seah Johnson, Steven R. Browne, Jim Grigsby and Fred Grigsby. Mesa was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford F. Grigsby; father, Charles Lee; and mother, Julia Browne. Although Mesa was born in Florida, she was descended from a pioneering New Mexico family. Her grandparents arrived in New Mexico in the 1880's. Her grandfather was a Navajo trader in Farmington and later operated retail stores in Magdalena and Albuquerque. In 1913 her family left New Mexico for Florida, returning to Albuquerque in 1931. It was then that she developed her lifelong love of New Mexico. Mesa graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1932 and was married in 1936. She was a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church. Mesa was a salesperson at the American Furniture Company downtown in the 50's and 60's. In the 70's, she enjoyed a career as a residential real estate broker and was president of the Women's Council of Realtors. Mesa was a passionate bridge player for over 85 years, winning her last game two weeks prior to her passing. She also loved to travel and even drove to Florida alone at age 85, much to her children's dismay. Mesa liked to cook, entertain and sew. She had a nightly date with Johnny and then Jay. HENRY -- MARIAN GRACE Age100, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012. Marian was born February 26, 1912, in Toledo, OH, to Robert and Sarah Poole. She moved to Hillcrest Avenue in Toledo, OH, with her family in 1914 at age 2 1/2, and she remembered being upset because the moving company lost her toy broom. Marian attended business school from 1929-30 and met her future husband, Wilbur, on a double date when she was 17 years old. They married August 26, 1933, and they lived in Toledo, OH. Their son, David, was born in 1934 and passed away in 1940 at age 5 1/2. A fond memory that Marian remembered was when a neighbor gave the family a ready-to-eat dressed rabbit, and David called it a "mouse chicken." Marian and Wilbur moved to Sandusky, OH, prior to moving to Albuquerque, NM, in 1953 when Wilbur obtained a job at Sandia Laboratories. Marian and her husband Wilbur traveled to many places, including China, where they walked the Great Wall; and Russia, where they cruised on the Black Sea. They also drove their camper to Alaska and throughout most of the United States, and their dog traveled with them whenever they went. Marian also traveled to Britain with her friends from the organist society to see many organs there. When Marian was a child, her brother Nelson paid for her music lessons at 75 cents per session, which firmly established her love of music. She later attended The University of New Mexico (UNM) and graduated in 1957 with a bachelor's degree in music from the College of Fine Arts. She highly valued her education at UNM and felt that everyone at the university was very good to her, so she established the Marian Grace Henry Scholarship in the Department of Music within the College of Fine Arts with the hope that her gift would allow her to be remembered at UNM. Marian was a long-time member of several music organizations, including Sigma Alpha Iota (SAI) International Music Fraternity for Women, Friends of Music Inc., and the American Guild of Organists. She also taught piano and organ lessons to many children who then grew up and brought their own children to her for music lessons. Many of her former students sent cards for Marian's 100th birthday, and Marian remembered each person fondly. Marian's love of music continued in her twilight years, and she held season tickets to the Santa Fe Opera for the last ten years. Marian was a treasured member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Albuquerque for many years and played the organ regularly for the Sunday school class. She was also invited to play for services and wedding ceremonies at other churches. In addition to her many human friends, Marian valued the companionship of her two cats, JoJo and Bimbo, who both predeceased her. She also maintained a small fish pond in her back yard. One year, a pair of turtles discovered her back yard, and they hibernated there for several winters. Marian always enjoyed the first signs of spring and seeing her turtle friends return to her yard for the warmer weather. She also raised orchids. Marian was quite tech savvy and enjoyed using her computer to send emails and pictures to friends and family. She also had great fun creating business cards and personalized greeting cards, which she printed in color at home. Her most recent creation was the invitation for her 100th birthday party, which was attended by dozens of relatives, friends, and neighbors, to Marian's great delight. Marian gave to many charitable organizations, including the Albuquerque Chapter of the American Guild of Organists; Sigma Alpha Iota of SAI International Music Fraternity for Women; Principia College, Elsah, IL; Friends of Music Inc., and the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch. Marian was predeceased by her husband, Wilbur Henry; son, David Henry; brother, Nelson Poole of Valparaiso, IN; and great-great-nephew Brandon Urban of Pflugerville, TX. She is survived by sister, Roberta Butler of St. Thomas, Ont., Canada; nephews Richard Butler (wife Jacquie, deceased), of Vancouver, BC, Canada; Robert Butler (wife Teresa, deceased), of Ayton, Ont., Canada; and Charles Butler of Toronto, Ont., Canada; nieces Sally (husband Rod) McNeely, of Toronto, Ont., Canada; Jeanette Walker (husband Mike), of London, Ont., Canada; and Patricia Helferich of Georgetown, TX. She is also survived by thirteen great-nephews and nieces and twenty-three great-great-nephews and nieces. Urn interment will be held Santa Fe National Cemetery. MCCLANAHAN -- BEVERLY Died peacefully on April 3, 2012, just a month shy of her 96th birthday. She is survived by her children, Sharen Hart of Albuquerque, Mike McClanahan and wife Joanne of Marrietta, GA; grandchildren Brett Hart, Seattle, WA, Jimmy Hart, Albuquerque, Erin McClanahan, Atlanta, GA, and Ryan McClanahan, Washington, DC. Beverly was born on May 9, 1916 in Keota, Iowa, a rural farming community southwest of Iowa City. In 1939, shortly after earning her bachelor's degree in home economics from the University of Iowa, she married her college sweetheart, Bill McClanahan, also a Hawkeye grad. Tired of the harsh Iowa winters, the couple moved south to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where they lived for many decades. Following his WWII Army service, Bill established a successful retail business while Beverly taught preschool and became the perfect Southern hostess. The McClanahans had an active social, civic and church life. Beverly, a long time member of the Presbyterian Church, taught Sunday school and held many volunteer church positions. She was a lifelong member of the American Association of University Women, was active in several garden clubs and played a fast game of bridge. An avid gardener, Beverly grew prize-winning roses. She regularly filled her church and the homes of friends with glorious roses. She was so well-known in Lake Charles for her beautiful roses that perfect strangers would stop by to elicit her gardening advice. The McClanahan household was a warm, inviting place where friends and family were graciously entertained. A great cook, Beverly's culinary repertoire included traditional Louisiana Cajun cuisine, Midwestern favorites and her very special made-from-scratch-yeast-dough cinnamon rolls. Throughout their married life the McClanahans traveled extensively in the United States, Europe and to Asia. Beverly and Bill celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary as they had lived their years together...at their home with festivities that included family, friends, food and music. In 2009, Beverly moved to Albuquerque to be near her daughter. Beverly was preceded in death by her husband Bill, brother Jim Bell and sister Betty Jean Bell. Beverly's family and friends extend their appreciation to the staff members of Ambercare Hospice, The Cottages and the Montebello Assisted Living communities for their loving kindnesses while she was in their care. A memorial service will be held in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Please visit our online guestbook for Beverly at www.RememberTheirStory.com FRENCH 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE (505) 823-9400

VIGIL -- ISAIAH EPHRAIM TOBIAS Sept. 18, 1980 - April 7, 2009 You are in our hearts, Isaiah, and we remember you with these words: "I am standing on the seashore. A ship spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. And I stand watching her until she fades in the horizon, and someone at my side says, 'She is gone!' 'Gone where?' The loss of sight is in me, not her.' Just at that moment when someone says she is gone, there are others who are watching her coming. Other voices take up the glad shout, 'Here she comes!' And that is dying." As you left us mourning for you, you were welcomed joyfully by Our Lord.

Kathie was also known for her listening ears, which were always tuned to the suffering of others. If you knew Kathie, please join family and friends for an evening of celebration of her amazing life. Bring your stories about her, and the smile you get when you think of her. Her memorial service will be held at 7:00pm on Monday, April 9th at New Song Christian Fellowship, 6013 Paradise Blvd, Abq, 87114. Refreshments will be served following the service.
