ARCHIBEQUE -- PHILIP "PHIL" P. Age 66, beloved father, companion and brother, was embraced by the Lord and taken to his heavenly home, Saturday, February 18, 2012. He was born in Corrales, NM and was a resident of Albuquerque. Phil enjoyed fishing, joking and will be fondly remember by his friendly humor. Philip is survived by his long time companion, Terri Craig; his son, Kevin Archibeque; step-son, Richard Craig and wife Gabriella. Also surviving are his sister, Patricia Petelski and husband Louie; brothers, Gilbert Archiveque and wife Brenda, Anthony Archiveque and wife Vickie; nephews, Patrick Petelski and wife Carol, Quinton Archiveque, Fred Archibeque and companion Linda Hall. Phil will be greatly missed by all. BEEMAN -- DEJUANA M. Age 49, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 16, 2012, peacefully with her family surrounding her. She is survived by her husband, Timothy R. Beeman, of Goodyear, AZ; children Ryan and wife, Cherie, of Agoura Hills, CA; daughter, Paige, attending college in Klamath Falls, OR; mother and stepfather, Lois and David McIntosh of Los Lunas, NM; father, Robert B. Butler of Boulder Creek, CA; sisters, Nikki Barry and husband, Bill, of Hampton, VA and Danielle Butler Lange, and husband, Matt, of London, UK; brothers, Bryn and wife, Marcia, of Yuma, AZ, Forrest and wife, Karen of Bailey, CO, Geoff and wife, Casey, of Santa Fe, NM; grandmother, Hazel Shoemaker of Clovis, NM; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Wesley Shoemaker. DeJuana was known for her grace, strength and dry sense of humor. She was a loving, caring, generous and fun-filled person. She was devoted to her children and shared her life to the fullest with her family and dear friends. Many thanks go to the loving care of the doctors, nurses and staff of VistaCare Hospice in Albuquerque, NM who not only ensured that DeJuana's wishes were honored concerning her care and comfort in her last days but also provided immeasurable support to the family at an incredibly difficult time. They are truly angels on earth. The family asks in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in DeJuana's name to local or national MS foundations or to a local Hospice Care. BELTRAN -- STARLENE "STAR" Age 54, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012. She was born in Albuquerque, NM on August 24, 1957, to Scott Gilman and Phyllis Marlene (Wilson) Bailey. Star was a person with very strong opinions and she will also be remembered for her generous spirit. She put others before herself - she was there for everyone. BOUCHER -- JANICE JOAN "HONEY" WELHOUSE Was born 9-17-36 in Appleton, WI to the late Joseph and Clasina Welhouse of Seymour, WI. She had about 11 brothers and sisters which include survivors, Tom and his wife Carol Welhouse, Don and Mimi Welhouse, sisters, Verona Berg and Lucy Iles. Jan graduated high school in 1954, she worked as a secretary for one year and then with $97 in her purse, drove to California to, on good report, meet actor John Derek. Instead she met Joe Boucher and in 1956 married him. They had three children, Brett, Robin (wife Marianna) and Breana (David Dalrymple) and raised them in Arizona and New Mexico, primarily in Nogales and Albuquerque. Joe and Jan have two grandchildren, Caysee (husband Clint Werthmann) and Ryan Dalrymple, and one great-grandchild, Drake Werthman. Joe and Jan also have a nephew Robert Jean Boucher and his three children Aaron, Natalie and Daniel. Jan worked for many years with the University of New Mexico as Assistant to the Dean of the Medical School. For the past four years Jan had been living with daughter Breana and her husband David in Truth or Consequences, NM as a result of her husband Joe's death and her own failing health. Jan died on Valentine's Day, 2012 to see Joe again for the occasion and his first response was likely "Well? What took you so %*&^#*@ long?!" CORDOVA -- BASILIA (BEA) Age 80, went peacefully home to her Lord and Savior on Friday, February 17, 2012 surrounded by all her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Pablo of the family home; six sons, Willie (Irene) of Colorado, Gene (Barbara) of Rio Rancho, Victor of Cuba, Herman (Julia) of Rio Rancho, Ralph (Vicki) of Arizona, and Robert of Albuquerque; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; as well as many other family and friends who love and will miss her. GARCIA -- CECILIA V. Age 60, a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, died on February 16, 2012. Cecilia was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many. An avid runner, she loved mountain trails. She was a lover of all music, and especially her sons' band, Lost Lingo. Cecilia lived to help others, and her smile would light up a room. Her laughter was frequent and contagious. With no vices other than chocolate, green chile and gathering with loved ones, Cecilia was an example to us all. The epitome of strength, she valued family, loyalty, integrity, and hard work. As a doctor at First Choice Community Healthcare, a clinic that serves low-income community members, Cecilia was committed to building a healthy community and helping those in need. She was also a volunteer mentor with the Thresholds Project, supporting women as they reintegrate into the community after incarceration. Cecilia was preceded in death by her father William C. Garcia and brother Martin D. Garcia. She is survived by three sons, Joaquin, Miguel, and Javier Ortega; mother Viola Garcia, of Albuquerque; siblings Maria Geer and husband Rod, Michael Garcia and wife Theresa, all of Albuquerque, Stephen Garcia of Bozeman, MT, Catherine Scott and husband Dan, of Albuquerque, Imelda Frances and husband Tim, of Chicago, IL, John Garcia of Albuquerque, Jim Garcia and wife Gloria, of Denver, CO, Lara Garcia of Albuquerque, and Mark Garcia of Port Hueneme, CA. GERDES -- DANIEL Age 87, a resident of Cedar Crest, peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Peggy Ann Gerdes; children, Carl Gerdes (Roxanne), Roger Minor (Brenda), Don Gerdes (Brenda Kay), Deanna Velhagen (Eric); grandchildren, Jamin, Lizabeth, Justin, Joanna, Brandon, Ryan, Steve, Scott, Colter, Courtney, and Jaren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Ruth Tippin of Texas. Dan served in the United States Army in WWII with the 81st Infantry Div. 318 Field Artillery Battalion. He was in the Reserve Corps for three years, 1946 through 1948. Dan was proud to be a Bus Driver for New Mexico Transportation Co., an affiliate of Greyhound, for 29 years, which later became Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma Coaches. He was a member of the Stanley Union Church where he was part of the welcoming committee and enjoyed the fellowship of his church family. HONAKER -- MARY BETH Died on Friday, February 17, 2012 after a courageous nine year battle with severe Lupus Cerebritis. Mary Beth is survived by two older sisters, Lucy MacBain of Saint Petersburg, Florida, and her family; Martha Hitchcock, brother-in-law Ronald Hitchcock, niece, Elizabeth Mason, all of Southlake, Texas; sister-in-law Diane Honaker of Summerland, California, and several grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John and parents Clyde and Veronica Honaker. Mary Beth was a brilliant, loving, funny, resilient woman who was dearly loved by her family and many good friends. Born February 12, 1955, Mary Beth was a lifelong resident of New Mexico. She completed a B.A. in Special Education in 1977, an M. A. in Elementary Education in 1983, and gained Administrative Licensure in 1990 from U.N.M. She began her long career as a passionate advocate for children and individuals with disabilities, teaching at Zuni Elementary School. Her natural ability to assess needs and create seamless integrated systems led to her promotion from Rio Grande Cluster Coordinator at South Region to Assistant Director of Special Services for Albuquerque Public Schools. She assisted in supervision of the four units in the Special Services Department, and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the Unified Education System. In 1999, she became Director of Special Education for the Moriarty Municipal Schools, where she directed all programs and services related to Special Education and Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Many parents, individuals with disabilities, and the professionals in the field benefited from her guidance and personal experience. We have truly lost a tireless champion for those with diverse needs. Mary Beth always kept the children she served as her primary focus, working hard to improve their opportunities and helping provide the very best education possible. She was truly a"servant leader" and used her own physical and health challenges to guide others and to design accommodations that maintain independence. Many friends and professionals would agree that she deserved an "honorary MD". Mary Beth loved her family, friends, fishing, music (she was an accomplished pianist) and her pets, both dogs and cats. We who are left here for awhile will sorely miss her humor and joy in living. LEWIS -- TIM Age 58, a resident of Albuquerque since 1983, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012. He is survived by his devoted wife of 29 years, Cindy Lewis; his brother, Mark P. Lewis of Chicago, IL; his brother-in-law, Marty H. Lange and wife, Tina of Sarasota, FL; his sister-in-law, Trudy S. Randour and husband, Charlie of Albuquerque, NM; two nephews; four nieces; two godchildren; and his English Springer Spaniel, Rio. Tim was an accomplished skier who coached professionally at Sandia Peak Ski Area for more than 25 years, teaching kids how to ski safely and in control. He was a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America - Rocky Mountain division for over 30 years and received numerous awards and trophies for skiing. In addition to his favorite sport, Tim also enjoyed attending UNM Lobo and Chicago White Sox games, and fishing, playing hockey and golfing with friends. He was passionate about music, especially jazz, rhythm and blues. Tim worked as a quality systems professional, serving most recently with S.A.I.C. and Team Technologies. Services will be held on Friday, February 24 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 300 Gold St. SE, with Pastor Randy Walquist officiating. LOMBARDO -- NICHOLAS JOSEPH LT. COL. US ARMY, RET. Nick passed from this life on February 16, 2012. He leaves his wife, Mary; sons, Marc Lombardo and wife, Georgette, Christopher Lombardo; daughter, Lisa Tusinger, husband, Eddie and son, Joshua; brother, John Lombardo and wife, Marie; sister, Rosemary Lombardo; sister, Connie Appenheimer; and many loving nieces and nephews. Nick was proud that he was able to serve his country with 28 years of service in the military. After moving to Albuquerque in 1971, he was associated for many years with North American Van Lines. The light of Nick's life was his grandson, Joshua, who gave Nick so much pleasure and many happy times. Nick will be missed. LUJAN -- MARY ANN Age 70, beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 17, 2012. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque and retired APS Employee. Mary Ann lived to help others, she was a caring and giving person, she always opened her home to those who needed help and was a cherished and loved friend. As a mother Mary Ann was an inspiration to her children, a strong role model who never accepted failure, she instilled her children with self respect, respect for others and the willingness to give even when you think you can't. "God will provide" was her motto. She always kept a Bible close, loved her church, loved the Lord and would express it often. Most of all, she taught her children that love and love of family were first and foremost! She was preceded in death by her husband Phil Lujan; son Anthony Lujan; son-in-law Lyn Ewell. METZ -- MAXINE D. Maxine died early Sunday, February 19, 2012, only three weeks before her eighty fifth birthday. She was born in 1927 in Texarkana, Texas, and moved to Albuquerque with her son, David, in 1946. Maxine had also lived in Los Alamos and was the Sandia Corporation Receptionist in Building 800 from 1955 to 1966. She was married to Elwood Metz who died in 1959 and to Claude Hempen, who died in 1996. Maxine is survived by her son, David Metz, daughter-in-law, Mary Metz, and also locally by nephew, Michael McCollum, and by several nieces and nephews in other states. MOORE -- ROXIE ANN Left us on February 13, 2012, just one month before her 96th birthday. Roxie was born March 15, 1916 in Neabsco, Prince William County, Virginia. One of the eighteen children born to Lillian "Ada Dell" Owens-Richardson and George Robert Robinson, she was the last surviving child. Roxie attended the only school (which had only one-room) for Black children near Occoquan, VA, where she completed the eighth grade. She said, "That was the only school they had for us back then." An old man's child (she was born 3 weeks before her father's 82nd birthday), she was an exceptionally talented person and extremely smart. From the third grade through the rest of her schooling she was used as a teacher for the other children in the school. Her mother used to go about her day singing hymns with little Roxie trailing behind, begging her to teach her the words to the songs she would sing. At a young age, her father sent off for a piano for her. She was given a few lessons but mostly taught herself, playing by-ear. After a while, the family moved to Washington, DC, where she stayed until she married Daniel Bond of Windsor, NC in 1934. They set up residence in Baltimore, MD, on Stricker St., and in 1937 they were blessed with a daughter, Sheila D. (Bond) Hawthorne. She and Dan separated in 1942, and in March of 1953 she married Roosevelt Moore of Spartanburg, SC, in Washington, DC. They left Baltimore and moved to Philadelphia following Roosevelt's cousin, Ira Tucker, who was a singer with a little gospel quartet, The Dixie Hummingbirds. This was so that Roosevelt could work promoting the group. In 1954 they were blessed with another daughter, Robin A. (Moore) Cooper Cox, and for a number of years they ran the Peedie Lou Record Shop located on Dauphin St. in N. Philadelphia. However, after 1958, she and Roosevelt separated and things became rather hectic as she moved between Baltimore, Philadelphia, Chicago, and back to Philadelphia. During that period she started working for the U.S. Postal Service and bought a house on Walnut St. in Phila. After 22 years of being apart she and Roosevelt reunited in 1980. She retired from the Postal Service and they moved back to Baltimore. While in her 80's, she went to work for the Shaw Bus Co., where she rode school buses as a bus monitor. She and Roosevelt were together until he died in 2001. Since then, Roxie has led what she called a "bi-coastal life, with only one coast." She would split her time between her daughters Sheila in Pikesville, MD, and Robin and son-in-law Errol in Tijeras, NM. From the age of sixteen, Roxie was involved with the Church. She was one of the original workers during the start-up of the Pentecostal Church of God in Christ under Bishop C. H. Mason. She could really sing and play the piano, so she was often asked to work the church circuit, going between Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, the Carolinas, and Pennsylvania. It didn't take long before she became a licensed evangelist, and whatever else she may have done in life, this is what she considered her Life's Calling. Even though, for a short while, she left the church. She and her best friend, Sister Rosetta Tharpe moved to New York City. By this time Rosetta and her guitar were becoming famous. It didn't take long for Roxie to be noticed. Being surrounded by show business people, she got to know, perform with and/or befriend many such as Red Foxx, Sarah Vaughn, Diana Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, Josephine Baker, "Hot Lips" Paige, Billy Eckstein, Tony Bennett, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and the list goes on. And then the same with ever so many more in the Gospel world as she found her way back to the church. She knew just about all of the Gospel groups and singers of her day. She first tried her hand at writing gospel music in the late 40's/early 50's when Ira told her that The Dixie Hummingbirds were in need of new material and it was suggested that she "try and come up with something." She had been writing ever since. Some of her songs are: "Jesus He Looked On Me", "I'll Keep On Living After I Die", "Will the Lord Be With Me", "When I Found Jesus Christ", "Smooth Sailing", "It Won't Be Long", and "Love Your Fellowman." In 1989 she received the Philadelphia Music Award from the Philadelphia Music Foundation for "Best Songwriter in Gospel Music". Lately she has served as an information source for documentaries and books about Sister Rosetta Tharpe, The Dixie Hummingbirds, other music greats, and on the formation of The Church of God In Christ. Roxie loved this nation and was very politically active. She had an on-going correspondence with many government officials; beginning with the Eisenhower administration. As a Bible scholar, she knew scripture and had a very developed knowledge of right, wrong, good and bad. She served as a constant reminder of what was right and what was wrong according to God's word. Not long ago, Sen. Ted Kennedy sent for her to attend a reception held in the Baltimore area. As he walked in the door, he was heard to call out, "Where's Roxie?" She was very active, in every sense, until the moment the Lord took her home. Since her father died in 1942 at the age of 108, everyone expected her to go on forever. She's left her daughters, Robin and Sheila; her son-in-law Errol; six grandchildren, William Hawthorne, Burshia McCoy, Shedana Patterson, Jennifer Cooper, Dr. Anthony Cooper, and Jonathan Cooper; 20 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren; a multitude of much loved nieces and nephews, and another multitude of much loved people she adopted along the way as her children, to mourn this tremendous loss. There will be a public viewing 24 Feb, 2012 at the Vaughn C. Greene Funeral Home, 8728 Liberty Rd., Randallstown, MD 21133, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A funeral service is scheduled for 25 Feb, 2012 at the Blessed Trinity Church of Deliverance, 4535 Old Court Rd., Pikesville, MD 21208, at 10:30 am. Interment will be at the Delaney Valley Cemetery, 200 E. Padonia Rd., Timonium, MD.

RUDOW -- HENRY J. (HANK) Henry J. "Hank" Rudow, Major USAF, Res. Ret. passed away on February 19, 2012. He had been a resident of Albuquerque since 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry W. and Cleo M. Rudow of Maumee, OH, and his son, Hank W. II of Albuquerque. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise; step-daughter, Lynne Taylor and husband, Lou of Wichita, KS; step-grandson, Shawn Taylor and wife, Lynn of Hayden, ID; cousins, Betty Neitzel of Bethesda, MD, George Langenderfer and wife, Sally of Cincinnati, OH, and JoAnn Mooney and husband, Frank of Lake Havasu City, AZ. Hank, as he was known, was born in Toledo, OH on November 19, 1921 and attended the University of Toledo. He was hired by AT&T in August of 1941 and enlisted in the Army Air Force as an Aviation Cadet in August, 1942. After flight training, he was assigned as a B-17 Pilot with the 398th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force stationed at Nuthampstead, England. He flew 34 combat missions over Europe and was hit by flak on the 34th and landed at Duffel, Belgium. After service in WWII he resumed his career with AT&T working in Chicago, San Francisco, and Albuquerque and retired in February of 1984 with over 42 years of service. He was a Past Commander of Park Forest, IL American Legion Post 1198, Past President of the New Mexico Chapter of the 8th Air Force Historical Society, Past Exalted Ruler of B.P.O.E. #461, a PDD and Past State Elks Trustee. He was also a longtime Chairman of #461's Veterans Service Committee. STARKEY -- HELEN L. Helen was born July 22, 1932 in Albuquerque, NM and passed away February 19, 2012 in Lubbock, Texas. She is survived by sisters, Bertha Huff of Las Cruces, NM and Ina Dean Burnside of Lubbock, TX; sons, Lell Starkey and wife, Debbie of Lubbock, TX, David Starkey and wife, Peggy of Leon, KS and daughter, Nancy Lee and husband, Andrew of Anchorage, AK; three granddaughters, Crisanne Thompson and husband, Tim, Michelle Lawson and husband, Johnny and Tamara Starkey; one grandson, Daniel Starkey and wife Jennifer; two great-grandsons, Addison and Ian; two great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Kathrine; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Barbara Starkey and Bill and Eleanor Starkey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Starkey; parents, Lell L. and Vera Burnside, and one son, Gary Starkey. She is also survived by many wonderful friends who have enriched not only her life but the lives of the entire Starkey family. Helen served as a secretary in the Albuquerque School Systems before retiring to the Cuba, NM area where she and Richard enjoyed years of mountain living. Helen also served as a Hospice volunteer serving at a local retirement center memory (Alzheimer) care unit where she loved to sing and pass out hugs. She had a love for music and began singing in her teens on a local gospel radio program continuing to share her love for Christ in her local church and retirement home up to her death. She will be remembered and missed by family many lifelong friends. Celebration services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012 at French - University location. STILGEBOUER -- SALLY A longtime resident of Rio Rancho, passed away from ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) on February 3, 2012 at the age of 67. She was a member or Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church, serving at one time as an elder and in various other capacities. She set a good example for those who knew her by praying and meditating on the Bible each morning from 6:00 to 7:00. She also served her community through Welcome Wagon, the Rio Grande Nature Center, various community orchestras and was an avid supporter of A Peaceful Habitation, transistional housing for women who have been released from prison. They are helped in their Christian growth and in searching for jobs where they can become self-supporting. Prior to her move to Rio Rancho in 1994, Sally was a social worker for the County of Santa Clara, State of California. She had received her Bachelor's Degree from Brigham Young University. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence Rawson and Louise Duncan Rawson. She leaves behind Larry Stilgebouer, her husband of 22 years: three children and their spouses; and seven grandchildren. Sally also counted as her family Larry's son and wife, Larry's daughter, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Rio Rancho Presbyterian Church on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 11:00. TRUJILLO -- DELFIDO RUDY Born March 29, 1943 in San Jose, NM. Went home to his Lord February 16, 2012. Del is survived by Marie Martinez, his companion of 20 years. Also by his ex-wife Flora Trujillo; his four sons Jesse, Joe, Gerald "Tiny" and Marvin Trujillo. Also by Marie's children Lorrie, Monica and Joe. Del has 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers David, Margarito, Blas, Ben and Leo and sisters Gloria and Josie. Del was preceded in death by his parents Jose Eliseo and Anita Vigil Trujillo; brothers Damacio and Gilbert Trujillo; and his son Michael Lovato. WAGNER -- DONALD EUGENE Age 81, Albuquerque since 1963, passed on to a better life on February 13th, 2012. He is survived by his wife, Corinne of the family home; children, Michael Wagner, and wife Christy of Monrovia, CA, Jeffrey Wagner and wife, Ruth of Alpharetta, GA, Tim Wagner and wife Sandi, of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Michael Jr. and wife, Shelley of Marysville, WA, Jamie Wagner of Tacoma, WA , Alexandra Wagner of Monrovia, CA, Zachary Wagner of Saco, ME, Cynthia Wagner of Alpharetta, GA, and Aiden Wagner of Albuquerque; two sisters, Rose Lucke and husband, Wayne of Palmyra, MO, Reba Hoehne and husband, Darrell Hoehne of Palmyra, MO; also many nieces and nephews and friends. Mr. Wagner was preceded in death by his mother, Gertrude Crook, father, Edward Wagner, brother Luther Wagner. He was a Korean War Vet serving aboard the USS New Jersey and also was a life member of the American Legion and the Elks. He was a member of Sombra Del Monte Christian Church, serving as Elder, Deacon, and was the Sound Technician for SDMCC. He was an avid bowler and won many honors and was inducted into the Central New Mexico Bowling Hall of Fame in 2010. He attended schools in Missouri and Electronic School in the U.S. Navy. WYCHE -- WALTER D. Age 77, a resident of Albuquerque, passed peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2012. He is survived by his daughter, Donna McCormick and husband, Thomas Maier of Rio Rancho, NM and daughter, Sandra Wyche-Mayer and husband, Kevin Mayer of Bernalillo, NM; grandchildren, Caitlyn, Grant, Taylor and Kayla; brother, Stan Wyche and wife, Barbie; and many other family and friends. Walter was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Gracie; father, Jewell Wyche; and mother, Effie Lora Wyche. Walter was a veteran of the USAF and a long-time member of Paradise Hills United Methodist Church. RWB Walter Wyche was a long-time member of Sandia Mountain Lodge #72, serving as Secretary of Lodge, Master of Lodge, as well as Deputy District Grand Master of the Sixth Masonic District of the Grand Jurisdiction of NM. He was also a member of the York Rite. He retired after more than 25 years of service with IBM. He was a loving and devoted dad and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.
