HARRIS -- PETER REX was born July 31, 1932 to Gerald Aubrey and Norah Harris in Bristol, England. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 7, 2011. Peter was the very definition of a self made man. He spent his boyhood exploring the hills and dales of England, and his adventurous and independent spirit was exemplified by his sojourn on foot across Europe at the age of 19. Soon after emigrating to the United States in 1956, he discovered the mountains of the American West and settled in the Albuquerque area where he traded his desk job as an engineer for the satisfying work of designing and building custom adobe homes. Through his natural ingenuity and creative experimentation, he taught himself the trade. He loved creating useful and attractive spaces for people to call home, interviewing customers at length about their daily habits to insure that their home would be physically comfortable and provide a feeling of belonging. Having a special affinity for fireplaces, he sculpted each one personally with the loving touch of his well-worn trowel. Combining his devotion to family and work, he often worked alongside his sons Peter G. and David, who continue to produce works of art and function through the skills he taught. Peter belonged to the Church of the Great Outdoors and loved exploring the trails, back roads, and rivers of the Southwest. He was proud to have covered every trail in the Sandia Mountains with trusted hiking partner, Ken and dogs Nicky, Ned, and Ted. One of his greatest pleasures was to find the perfect spot to enjoy a cup of coffee or simple lunch in the quiet majesty of the mountains. He loved poring over maps of New Mexico to plan sweet adventures with his wife Margaret and annual trips with daughters Catherine and Norah. They always took the scenic route and enjoyed many picnic suppers on mountaintops. A cup of tea and a good joke were a part of his daily life. Whether it was tucking a rubber cockroach in the swaddles of his grandsons blanket or concocting a ruse to have his little brother kidnapped by real cowboys on his first trip to America, Peter loved to temper his serious side with mischievous pranks. He was generous of time and spirit, and always willing to make space in his full schedule to help family and friends. His spirit lives on through his devoted wife, Margaret Walden; younger brothers, Martin and Andrew; children, Peter and wife Debra Jean, David and wife Susan, Catherine Anne, Norah Elizabeth, Jeff, Jed, Andy and Eva; grandchildren, Sam, Lee, Jake and Emily; nephew Danny, and nieces, Megan and Mary. Private memorial services will be established at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Watermelon Mountain Ranch or consider sponsoring a wolf in Peters name at the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary.

Jean trained as an artist at the Lasell College of Art in Auburndale, the Massachusetts School of Art and the University of New Mexico. She loved her art studio and was always busy painting up until 2009 using pen and ink, monoprints, lithography, pastels and watercolors, but her most famous work was her beautiful oils. Ranging in size from one-inch squares to 36 by 48 inch paintings, she often used a jeweler's magnifying glass to obtain the realism and extreme detail she was famous for. The art captured the southwestern skies, fields and landscape. Her work was showcased in galleries across the country, including Portland, Seattle, Kansas City, San Antonio, Dallas, Midland, Sedona, Vail, Roswell, Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Jean participated in the Weems Artfest for 22 years and her work continues to be displayed at Weems Galleries. MaryAnn Weems noted "Her beauty will live on forever through her paintings". Her art is also included in the book of Contemporary Western Artists, featured in the Artists in the Rockies and Who's Who of American Women. Jean was generous in her many donations to her favorite charities including the American Lung Association, American Heart Association, New Mexico Cancer Foundation, New Mexico Symphony Orchestra, New Mexico Lobo Scholarship Fund, All Faiths Receiving Home, Presbyterian Hospital and the Albuquerque Museum. Jean will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Cremation has taken place and interment will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery next to her husband. TAFOYA -- TOMMY In Memory of Tommy Tafoya July 22, 1940 - September 11, 1992 We can't believe you've been gone 19 years. Sorry you weren't around to enjoy your grandkids. Mary Trinnie and Gerald will be married 15 years Sept. 28 and they just bought a bigger new house on the west side. Mary Trinnie was painting and shattered her heel falling off the ladder in July. She had surgery. Hopefully she'll out of her cast soon. They just got back from Florida where Gerald competed in the National Truck Driving Rodeo. We met some of your fellow ABF drivers at the local competition. They remembered you fondly and the kids enjoyed hearing stories about you. Gerald Paul is in seventh grade and going to public school for the first time. He seems to really enjoy it. He's also still playing basketball and football. The football team is undefeated so far again. Tommy Andres just started kindergarten and seems to really enjoy going to school all day. He's also playing soccer. The teacher tells him he's so smart, and he says it's because he eats Smarties at his Honey's house. Nep and Bianca are doing well. Nep is driving for FedEx and seems to enjoy it. Evangelee is now in sixth grade at Assumption and is playing 3 different sports. She likes them all. Samantha is in second grade at Assumption and is our tom-boy, except on Sunday when she and I have to wear a dress to church. Fred is almost four now and still loves to play outside every chance he gets. He plays very well with Tommy Andres, and they had their first sleep over a few weeks ago. Lucretia is working at Presbyterian now. She and her family of dogs are still adjusting to Albuquerque living. She's helping Tommy Andres' soccer team as the team referee. She's also going to take income tax classes so she can do taxes like your brother Marty. Tom and Charlotte just celebrated their eighteenth anniversary. Tom's still at Schott Solar and Charlotte works at the dance studio where the kids perform. The dance team continues to compete Nationally and places in the top three. Both kids are now at St. Pius High School. Tomas is a junior. He's now driving (Lord help us) and is very active with the church youth group. He went to Denver with them last weekend. Tatiana is a freshman and still loves her dancing. She will be confirmed in May and her Auntie Trinnie is the godmother. She loves being at a new school and is quite the social butterfly. I've done a little traveling this year. I went to Jamaica with Carol for Kevin's wedding last October. I also went to Vegas, Denver for my brother David's wedding and Walsenburg for a family reunion and California to move Carol temporarily. My mom, Great Daisy, did start exercising this year and is doing good. The kids are so proud of her. We love you and miss you each and every day. WILSON -- BENNY L. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque went home to be with the lord on September 6th, 2011. Benny Lee Wilson was born January 18, 1975 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was the son of Virner Lee Wilson and Irene Wilson. He graduated from Albuquerque High School, class of 1993 and went on to earn his Associate in Business from ITT Tech. It only took one encounter with him to know that he had a big heart. He would do anything he could do for his family and friends. He loved all types of music and created his own unique moves. He loved to make everyone laugh and this is why we called him the "life of the party". At family events, he always found a way to tell the funny and embarrassing stories of his sister, as if he was the "golden" child and could have never done something to embarrass himself. He enjoyed sports and he always knew it all whether it was the pro football season or college to NASCAR racing, you would find him loud and glued to the TV. He's a son, brother, and a friend that will be truly missed. He leaves his cherished memories to his parents Virner and Irene Wilson of Albuquerque, NM; three sisters Patricia Wilson (Brian) of Albuquerque, NM, Albenita Padilla and Glenda Padilla of San Felipe, NM; brother James Padilla of San Felipe, NM; three spoiled nieces Kiara, Brianna, and Blessin'e; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family and friends. The family of Benny would like to thank everyone for their prayers, visits, cards, food, thoughts, and love during this difficult time.
