BLYTHE -- William Edward Blythe, 86, died peacefully at home on May 25, 2011. "Buddy" was born in Hagerman, NM, and grew up in Amarillo, Texas. The family moved to Albuquerque in 1946 when he graduated from the US Naval Academy. Commander Blythe served with the NATO staff based in Naples, Italy during WWII & the Korean Conflict. Upon returning to Albuquerque he joined the Blythe Family Insurance Agency founded by his father; later, 25 years with Blythe Brothers Insurance Agency as a Chartered Life Underwriter. He was a Real Estate Broker and land developer. Buddy and family lived 25 years in Blythe Farms in Los Lunas, NM. In 1980, they moved to Albuquerque becoming involved in a new family enterprise Anitras, Inc. ,a jewelry company and Anitras Old Town Gallery & Poster Company in Old Town. William was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Karner and Pepita Blythe; brothers Joseph and Phillip Blythe; and sister Judy Crosby. He is survived by his wife Hortensia and four children: Joseph F. and Kathy Blythe, Alb, NM; Anita C. Blythe, Alb,NM; Helene M. Felder, Sugarland, TX; and William K. and Lisa Blythe, Alb,NM; his grandchildren, Carl and Deidre Becker ; Andrew Becker; Jennifer and Eric Nagel ; Jessica and Todd Griess; Lauren Felder; Robert Felder; and Megan Blythe; great-grandchildren: Mia Isabella, John Paul and Nicolas Curtis Becker; his brothers, Barry and Marcia Blythe of El Cerro, NM; Ernie Blythe of Durango, CO; and sister Nancy and Wayman Perez of Joplin, MO. Buddy will be remembered for his smile and sparkle in his eyes, good temperament, wisdom, strong faith in God and love of family. He was a devout Catholic and avid student of theology, loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He especially enjoyed family vacations in Red River, NM. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 5901 St. Joseph's Avenue, Albuquerque, NM. Graveside burial will follow at Mount Calvary. CASTILLO -- Sisto A. Castillo, age 86, passed away May 20, 2011. Sisto was known as musician and a boxer in his younger years. He is survived by his two sons, Rudy and Randy Castillo and other family members. DUPHORNE -- Robert Duphorne, (98), passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011 with his family at his side. He is survived by his daughter, DuAnne Duphorne, his granddaughters; Bambi Folk (Joe) and D'Ann Rasmussen; and his grandson, Dante Duphorne. Robert also leaves behind his great-granddaughter, Penelope Kehrer and his daughter-in-law, Patsy Duphorne. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Duphorne and his son, Marvin Duphorne. Robert started his 45 year career in banking as a janitor and ended it as senior vice president of First National Bank in Albuquerque. He was a Mason for 75 years and a member of Coronado Toastmasters Association for over 40 years. A funeral service will be held for Robert on Friday, May 27, 2011, 11:00 a.m., at Chester T. GARCIA-BACA -- Marie Essie Garcia-Baca Our Lord and Savior Jesus saw fit to take Marie Essie Garcia-Baca on this day of May 25th of the year 2011 after a courageous nine year battle with cancer. Marie passed away peacefully at her home in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Marie was born and raised in Virginia till she moved to Albuquerque New Mexico to raise her children. She was one of six children born to the late Thomas and Martha Gills on May 21st, 1939 and was the beloved wife of David Baca, the love of her life. Marie will forever be remembered by her devoted sisters Brenda Santos, Thelma DeLeon, Jean Phillips, and Mary Painter; beloved children Kenisha Reyes, James, Alex Jr., Mike and Raymond Garcia, Patricia Quilliman, Monica Gallegoes, Danny, Felipe, Dennis and Davy Baca; many treasured grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; caring in-laws Eddie Baca, Theresa Rios, and Marietta Serna. She was prceded in death by brothers, Stanley Gills and Bobby Baca, along with countless other friends and family whom were blessed to know her. Marie touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark stubbornness and concern for the ones she loved all the way to her peaceful end. HARRIS -- Gertrude Irene Harris, age 95,passed away quietly with her family around her after a brief illness. Gertrude formerly of San Antonio, New Mexico was a long time member of First Baptist Church, Socorro. She was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Ollie Duncan; her husband Dennis Harris Sr.; two grandsons, Steve Bean and Kenneth Edward West, son-in-law Joe Bean& two brothers Bill & Lonnie Duncan. HOGAN -- William Richard Jr. (Rick) February 24, 1952 - May 22, 2011 Rick was called to the house of Our Lord to soar like an eagle which he so loved. Survived by son Kyle and wife, Jenny and granddaughter Teagan; daughter Kacy and husband, Quinton and grandson Brayden Clement. KITE -- Jeffrey (Jeff) Don Kite, 49, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, May 24th, 2011 at the family home in Albuquerque. Born March 8th, 1962 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Raymond Kite and Kathryn Tarpley Kite. Serving in the 1st Tank Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Jeff was a Marine Corp Veteran and later served in the National Guard. He was very proud of his time serving his country. An avid fisherman and outdoorsman, Jeff could often be found somewhere in the New Mexico mountains and lakes hunting or fishing with friends or family. Jeff was employed in the construction industry for many years, operating and managing heavy equipment. A wonderful family man, Jeff will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. Preceded in death by his father Raymond, Jeff is survived by his mother Kathryn Tarpley Kite of Albuquerque; wife Christine and daughters Antoinette, Amanda and Kelsey and granddaughter Holly of the family home; daughters Nikkole and Kimberly Kite of Raton; brother Gray and wife Phyllis of Albuquerque, sister Kelly and husband Sterling Williams of Loving, NM, sister Stacey Welty of Albuquerque, along with numerous nieces and nephews. MANNING -- Patricia S, born March 10, 1936, died May 17, 2011. Beloved by all, Patricia was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Madeline Manning and brother, Joseph Manning Jr. She is survived by her two sisters, Colleen and Madeline, 12 neices and nephews, and many caring extended family and friends. MARS -- Virginia Marie Mars passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 23, 2011. She was born on March 9, 1925 in Hendersonville, PA, the youngest of three children of Harry C. and Ella Gorley. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Edwin P. Mars. She is survived by her three daughters, Carol Kindley, Marlene Moynihan and husband, Terry, Pam Tanner and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Lisa) Kindley, Ryan (Maria) Moynihan, Kimberly (Jason) Genobles and Brad (Wendy) Moynihan; and five great- grandchildren, Laura and Matthew Kindley, Tori Genobles, Annabelle and Joseph Moynihan; her sister, Ann Stright also survives her. Virginia made a career change in her late 40's returning to college to get her RN degree. She worked at Presbyterian Hospital in a field she loved, caring for others. Virginia was a wonderful cook and loved to share her culinary creations with friends and family. She was a member of San Marcial Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years. The delights of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who called her GiGi. She also enjoyed lunching with her friends. Virginia spent the last 18 months at Canyon Transitional, and her final week in the care of Kaseman Hospice. The family would like to thank these "angels" for the care and love she received during this time. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary of ABQ, located at 4001 Osuna Rd. NE with a reception to follow. Cremation has taken place and a private committal will be held later.

MARTINEZ -- Alejandro "Alex" L. Martinez, age 81, long-time resident of Santa Fe, passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2011. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Ramona; his six children, Alex, Leroy, Yvonne, Karen, Sharon and Fred; his five grandchildren Teesha, Lia, Lucas, David and Jonathan; one great-grandchild, Carter and two siblings Horacio and Mary. After retiring from the New Mexico Human Services Department in 1991 as a chief accountant, he volunteered his services in many ways. He was the treasurer for the Holy Name at St. Johns Catholic Church for many years, and served as a Trustee for the VFW. We will all remember for his smile, his jokes and the way he always brought a laugh to those that knew him. Funeral arrangements start with a viewing on Friday May 27, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.; a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.; a funeral mass on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and a reception for family and friends following the mass. These will all be held at St. Anne Catholic Church at 511 Alicia Street, Santa Fe. His burial service is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. MUEHLENWEG -- Charles F. (Charlie) Muehlenweg of Albuquerque passed away on May 4, 2011. He was born on December 23, 1922 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He obtained engineering degrees from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas and The Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. He was a pilot in WWII where he flew supply planes in the South Pacific. Charlie came to New Mexico in the early 1950s to work at Sandia National Laboratory. After leaving Sandia he formed his own engineering firm in Albuquerque where he worked for a number of years. After he retired he moved to Magdalena, New Mexico where he pursued his love of hiking for over 25 years. Charlie's favorite hiking areas were the Grand Canyon in Arizona and the 14ers in Colorado. He hiked all fifty-three of the Colorado 14ers at least twice after he reached age 70. Charlie is survived by his son Carl and his wife Kathy Ayer and their two children Nick and Thea, his son Bob and his wife Tina and their three children Joshua, Zachary and Damon, and his sister Sally Stone of Arkansas. Charlie will be missed. Cremation has occurred through French Mortuary and a private ceremony will take place to celebrate his love of hiking.

O'CONNELL -- Donald W. O'Connell (49) passed away on May 24, 2011 at his home in Pawtucket, RI. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Donald L. Gushard of Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his mother Judith O'Connell of Albuquerque, NM, his grandmother Bernice Gushard, his father Mike O'Connell of Chepachet, RI, his sisters Rebbecca Meadows(Bill) and Deborah Marsh as well as an extended family in Rhode Island, New Mexico, Texas and Utah. Donald lived here in Albuquerque until 1987 then he moved to Rhode Island. He was a plumber by trade and never met a stranger. He had a gift of gab only rivaled by that of his grandfather who was his mentor and hero. He became a mentor himself, helping others to overcome addiction and homelessness. PADILLA -- Michele "Mickie" Lopez Padilla, 82 years old, passed quietly from this life on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at 2:32 pm, in her home with her family at her bedside. Michele was born to parents, Raymundo and Tomasita Lopez in San Marcial, NM, November 13, 1928. The eldest of eight, Michele and her family moved to Albuquerque when she was nine months old, when a flood destroyed her hometown. Michele graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1947. Michele was preceded in death by her husband Bill of 54 years; grandson Brian; brothers Ned, Benny & Bill Riggs; and many other dear family members. Michele is survived by her children including, son Bill J. and wife Karen, daughter Kathleen Sanchez and husband Michael, son Robert and wife Suzanne, son John Padilla, Patty Padilla, and daughter Karen Michele Martinez and husband Mervin Martinez. Michele also leaves behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Sean (Fiona), Melissa, Desiree (David), Carlos, Derek, Eileen (Rob), Paul (Valerie), Max, Kieran, Michele, Juanita, Mervin Jr., Elena, Izabel, Pablo, Miquela, Zoey, and Eli. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her joys. Michele is survived by siblings Pauline (J) Pate, Helen (Richard) Armijo, Ray (Joann) Lopez, Hazel Riggs,and Nancy (Jim) Faherty. Last Rites were given by Father Gene of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and a private rosary was recited at her bedside by Willie and Velma Sanchez, along with family prayer by Pastor John Boggs and wife Janie. Her smile could light up a room, and she loved to dance at Bear Canyon Senior Center, where she met many wonderful friends, and special dance partner, Sam. Even though Michele went through many twists and turns in her lifetime, she always was faithful to her God and Savior. She was a mighty woman of virtue and put everything she had not only into her marriage, but also into raising and providing for her children. We love you Mamacita, Grandma Mickie, Grandma Kela, Nana, and Best Friend. A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2011, at Rio Grande Baptist Church, 2121 Gun Club Rd S.W., with family visitation at 6:30pm, celebration to follow at 7:00pm. RUDE -- Kari Maria. Our beloved Kari Maria Rude, born December 27, 1969 died tragically on Monday, May 23, 2011. She was only 41 years of age. She is survived by two beautiful daughters, Angelina and Ocean; mother Maria; brother Eric; and sister Anna. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. SPRAGUE -- Denton E. (Jack) Sprague died Wednesday, May 25, 2011. He was 94 years of age. Jack was born to Irvin and Ora Lee Sprague on July 4, 1916 in Lamesa, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Chester. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Merlyn, of Albuquerque; son, Denton E. Jr. and wife, Vivian, of Pendleton, Oregon; daughter, Donna S. Collins and husband, Bob, of The Villages, Florida; a brother, Ted and wife, Billie Ann of Tulia Texas; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He attended elementary and high school in Tulia, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M College in 1937 with a degree in Agriculture and a 2nd Lt. Commission in the United States Army Reserve. He was ordered to active duty in 1942 and was assigned to the 85th Infantry Division. When it was learned that he was a licensed amateur radio operator, he was transferred to the Signal Section-Third U.S. Army Headquarters. He later became the head radio officer for General George Patton's Third United States Army in Europe. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserve with the rank of Colonel. In 1939, Jack was employed as the Assistant County Supervisor of the Farmer's Home Administration, USDA, at Clovis, New Mexico advancing to the state office in Albuquerque and the national office in Washington, D.C. He retired from that agency as Associate Administrator in 1979. He served a time as Acting Administrator of that agency during changes of administrations. Jack was awarded superior service decorations by each of two Secretaries of Agriculture. He was the Master of Zia Daylight Masonic Lodge in Albuquerque. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He was a member of various Albuquerque Amateur Radio clubs. A memorial service will be held for Jack on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the La Vida Llena retirement center. Enichement will take place in Santa Fe National Cemetery at a future date. STILES -- Paul Marvin Stiles of Sandia Park NM, age 63, was called to heaven by our Dear Lord on May, 19th 2011. He was born in Dallas, TX and lived in several states until his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1973. He retired from American Airlines in 2005. After battling Leukemia for several years he passed away surrounded by his wife, family and friends in Sandia Park, NM. His parents, George and Georgia Stiles of Dallas TX preceded him death. Paul is survived by his wife, Cheryl Walker Stiles aka Cheri, his daughter, Charlene Olson, his stepson Scott Thornton and his wife Ruby Thornton. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Ashley Mae and his step-grandchildren, Dustin and Candice. Arrangements are in care of Riverside Funeral Home on 225 San Mateo in Albuquerque, NM. A memorial garden is being made at his family home, so in lieu of flowers, should family/friends so desire, they can send or drop off perennial plants, or they can make a contribution to The Animal Humane Society animalhumanenm.org since Paul loved all animals. The family would like to thank Heritage Hospice & all neighbors/friends and the Mountain Garden Club who helped care for Paul.

TRUJILLO -- Robert Dean Trujillo, 50, passed away on May 21, 2011. He was born on November 21, 1960. Robert graduated from Del Norte High School. He married Sara Archuleta on January 28, 1984 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Albuquerque. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in 2009. Fulfilling his dream, Robert became the owner of Jim's Plumbing and Sewer Service. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer and jack of all trades. He received various deer and elk antler trophy awards as well as from his fishing tournaments. He was a member of Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Robert cherished his family as a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife Sara Archuleta Trujillo; daughters Denikka Trujillo and Daeja Trujillo; parents Lawrence and Sandra; brothers Ronald Trujillo and wife Natalie, Randall Trujillo and wife Sharon; sister Renee Trujillo and Ray Duran; grandmother Eunice Miller, all of Albuquerque; uncle Garry and Marlene Leiker of Bainbridge WA; aunts, Loretta Miller, Lollie Thomas and Gloria Trujillo; uncles, Jerry and Diana Trujillo of Albuquerque, and Leroy and Margie Trujillo of Albuquerque, Jack Martin of Albuquerque, and Eloy Trujillo of Denver, Colorado; in-laws Valentine and Molly Archuleta of Albuquerque; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rosemary and (Compa) Victor, Val and Gayle, Eddie and Helen, and Robert and Lisa; Godchildren; Donna, Victor Ernest, Rosalyn Saiz, Sydney Archuleta, also many more nieces, nephews and cousins. Robert was preceded in death by aunts, Beth Martin and Anita Trujillo. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Daniels Family Funeral Services Carlisle Chapel, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. A rosary will be held on Friday May 27, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Queen of Heaven Church. Mass of Christian burial will be on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Church. Interment will take place at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
