BRAY -- Patricia H. On April 26, 2011, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer, the beautiful, generous soul of Patricia Dianne Hall Bray left her family and friends behind on this mortal plane. One of Pat's favorite songs has the line "I'll be waiting on the far side bank of Jordan," and we truly believe she will be. Pat was born on February 17, 1942, in Houston, Texas to Dr. William F. and Anna Lee Hall. She grew up in Houston and El Paso, Texas, was married in El Paso and moved with her family to Albuquerque in 1977. She was a marvelous mother, wife and homemaker. Her interests included travel, reading, antiques and collectibles, drawing and painting, writing prose and poetry, quilting, crochet, needlework. One of her greatest joys was music- singing with her church choir and musical groups, with friends around a campfire and with her husband playing the guitar, especially old country and folk songs and hymns. She will be lovingly remembered by many friends and her family, including her husband of fifty years, Richard Bray; daughter, Melinda Dolan and husband, Terry; son, Jon Bray and wife, Mindy; grandchildren, Ella and Joseph Dolan; brother-in-law, Duane Bray and wife Beth; and her beloved mother-in-law, Krotona Bray. Enlisted in the USAF in 1959. Shortly after joining the USAF he met his soul mate Sheila. They were married on May 17, 1963. In the Medical ICU there, Ann played a key role in helping her unit win the Beacon Award in 2009. Ann was also a certified bereavement counselor, and this training was much valued by the families of critically-ill and dying patients. Ann had a huge heart and a very generous spirit. She will be missed by the nursing and medical community, by her family, and by all who had contact with her. There is an Ann Martin memorial Facebook page where plans and details of an event to be held in her memory in August will be announced.

Simon, a descendant of several of the earliest Spanish colonists and soldiers in New Mexico, was steeped in the traditions of courtesy, integrity, and dignity. As a young man, he worked on the family ranch, drove trucks across the state, operated a motel, and dabbled in county politics in Santa Rosa, NM. In 1953, he moved his family to Albuquerque where he worked as a mechanic and quickly became the owner and operator of 'Simon's Texaco' service station on Central across from UNM for many years. There, he successfully built upon his friendliness and fairness to form numerous friendships within the University neighborhood area as well as with faculty, staff, and generations of UNM students. Simon was a good man who always had a smile and sense of humor at the ready. He was generous and always willing to help anyone in need. He loved his family and had a lifelong deep and abiding faith that he tried to live his life by. He was a longtime parishioner at Queen of Heaven Catholic church and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus member. He will be missed, but he will never be forgotten. A Rosary will be recited on Friday, May 13, 2011, 6:00 p.m., at French - University.
