AGUILAR -- William M. Aguilar, age 77, a resident of Albuquerque for the past 33 years, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. William was an Air Force veteran having served four years and then joined the Army retiring as a Sergeant First Class after serving 25 years. He served in Korea, Germany, Panama as well as three tours in Vietnam. Among his many decorations, are two Bronze Stars, Army Commendation Medal as well as the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm and the Air Medal. William was a life member of the American Legion post 99 and a 20 year retiree of Albuquerque Public Schools. He worked at Valley High School as his last position. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Francisca (Montano) Aguilar; brother, Richard Agulair; sister-in-law, Mary Barela; brother-in-law, Manuel Hernandez. William is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ramona (Martinez); six children, William Anthony and wife, Holly, Reinaldo, Carmen, Francis, Dolores and husband, Alfred, Anna and husband, Leroy; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Daniel and wife, Reyna; sisters, Micha and husband, Frank, Emma, Margaret and husband, Ralph, Minnie, Eleanor and Mary; brother-in-law, Paul and wife, Alma, sisters-in-law, Maria and husband, Richard and Alicia; numerous nieces and nephews. BALDONADO -- Nick Baldonado, Jr., age 56, beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, fianc, and friend, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, April 9, 2011. Nick was a life long resident of Placitas, NM. He was preceded in death by his father, Nick Baldonado, Sr.; sister, Beatrice Anne Baldonado; and brother, Baby Baldonado. Nick is survived by his loving mother, Dionela "Dee" and step-father Andres Almeida; his sons, Brian Baldonado of Los Lunas, Brandon Baldonado and wife Felicia also of Los Lunas, and Nicholas Baldonado of Placitas; his grandchildren, Allysa, Shane, Serenity, Matias, Christopher, Audrianna, Alex, Destiny, Matthew and Rebecca; his sole mate of 24 years, Diane Mize; step-daughters, Laura and husband Thomas, Amy and husband Paul; his loving brothers and sisters, Lorraine and husband Juan, Orcelia and husband Martin, Moises and wife Diddi, Anthony, Gary and wife Weda, and Beatrice Baldonado all of Placitas, NM; other numerous relatives and an endless number of friends. BARR -- Paula J. Barr (PJ), 82, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Monday, April 11, 2011. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Homer Barr. Mrs. Barr is survived by her children, Greg Barr, and wife, Darlene, and Sandy McMurray and husband, Lindsey; grandchildren, Matt, Mike, Mark, Katy, Beth, Sean, Rachel, and Meredith; great-grandchildren, Luke, Tyler, Aubrey, Peyton, Brooks, and Hayden; and three special additions to the family, Miranda McMurray, Nina Safier, and Kyle Jameson. Paula started her career with Albuquerque Public Schools and eventually retired from the West Valley School District in Spokane, Washington. Paula spent her life nurturing a loving family, creating beautiful quilts, clothing and craft items, and enjoying life with family and friends. BAUKE -- Barbara Bauke, 84, West Palm Beach, Fl resting comfortably in the arms of her loving husband of 55 years, entered into eternal peace on April 9, 2011, Barbara was born on April 5, 1927, in London England to Alice and J.R. Ruffley. She was a fun loving, independent, free thinking spirit who was an active Unitarian in every community she lived in. She married her life's partner, Walter Bauke, on Sept 27, 1956 and together they raised six children and had many extraordinary adventures. She will be greatly missed by her husband, Walter, of West Palm Beach, her children, Robert (Diane) Bauke of Magnolia, MA, Denis (Linda) Bauke of San Francisco, Charlotta (Terence) Duffy of Overland Park, KS, Walter D. (Ana) Bauke of Olathe, KS, and Leischen (Steve) Bauke of Anchorage, AK, and grandchildren Caroline, Danielle, Nicole, Molli, Zachary, Megan, Caitlin and Andrew, her caregivers Evadne Burke and Geraldeen Ford, and many lifelong friends. She is also survived by her sister, Roberta McArthur. Barbara was preceded in death by her son Erich, and her parents, Alice and J.R. Ruffley. BESS -- Barbara P. Bess was born July 29, 1919 in Minneapolis, MN the second child of Clifford and Mabel Pollock. Barbara died Monday, April 11, 2011. Her children, Bob, Jim, Chris, and Sandra; seven grandchildren, Joanne, Brad, Hillery, Christopher, Katy, Jesse and Tyler; and ten great- grandchildren survive her. Her husband, Earnest, preceded her in death. Because her father loved the west he encouraged both Barbara and her sister, Sue, to attend UNM which they both did. While at UNM in addition to her studies she became a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She continued to offer her talents as an alum in later years. While at UNM she met Earnest and they married in the middle of her junior year which interrupted her college career. Barbara and Earnest worked and played for the first three years of their marriage. Then the first of their four children was born. Barbara was an attentive and joyful full time mother as she raised her children. She continued to support each one right up to the last days of her life. Barbara loved to express the beauty of New Mexico through her watercolors, oils, and other art projects. Her creativity and love of New Mexico was always noticeable in her home. In the mid 70's she re-entered UNM where she completed her studies and received her college degree. She was particularly proud of this achievement, as was her family. Barbara was a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church. She and her family attended the Cathedral of St. John regularly for over 40 years. She served in numerous leadership positions while at St. John's. In recent years she and her husband attended St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. The family wishes to thank the many people who cared for Barbara and supported the family, over the past few years, especially Faye Janzad of High Pointe Care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Barbara's name to St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano NW, Albuquerque, NM 87107. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at a later date with interment to follow. CATENA -- Florence "Flo" Catena, 90, passed away on April 12, 2011 at Kaseman Hospice in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her brother, Robert J. Catena and wife, Jean; nieces Lucia Stamp, of Sawfell, MN, Melissa Damato of Chats-worth, CA; nephew, Robert Catena Jr. of Wheaton, IL; as well as many dear friends. She was born in Chicago in January 23, 1921. Flo worked at Kraft Foods Inc. in Chicago, retiring in 1982. She worked on various assignments within the Employee's Credit Union and then as Supervisor in the Employee's Benefit Department. In 1983, she moved to Albuquerque and became an avid member of Puerto Del Sol and Los Altos Golf courses and the Rio Grande Jazz Society. She loved golf and jazz, especially Dixieland Jazz "Let's Party"! Cremation has taken place. CLINE -- Betty Jo Cline, age 71, died at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lonetree, Colorado on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. She is survived by her daughters, Kim, Micki, and Melissa, and their families. Betty Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and their son, Bryan. Services will be held on April 16, 2011 in Brook, Indiana. CORDOVA -- Pedro A. Cordova, 85, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2011. His loving wife, Mary A. Cordova, preceded him in death. He is survived by his son Pete R. Cordova, daughter Rosalie Savedra and husband, Joe, daughter Beverly Baca, son Mike Cordova, and daughter Rita Chavez and fianc, Steve Mendoza; grandchildren Lisa, Michael, Toby, Alicia, Carlos, Vinnie, Raymond, and Clovis; and great-grandchildren Xavier, Kyle, and Breanna. Pedro worked for many years in civil service as an Aircraft Fueler at Kirtland Air Force Base, but he is most known for his years of dedicated service to the U.S. Army and later the Military Order of the Purple Heart. While serving in World War II, Pedro was decorated for his service with the 45th Infantry Division at the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. His post-war service includes membership with the D.A.V., Post 100 and the Military Order of the Purple Heart - Chapter 1966. During his tenure with the MOPH, he held nearly every office available including: Chapter Commander, Senior Vice Commander, and Department Junior Vice Commander. Pedro was a loving husband and faithful civil servant. He is beloved by his family and known to almost everyone as "Grandpa". He will be missed dearly. A rosary will be recited on Tuesday, April 19 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1860 Griegos Road NW. Mass will be held Wednesday, April 20 at 10:00 also at Our Lady of Guadalupe. CORDOVA -- Phillip A. Cordova, 53, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away on Friday, April 15, 2011, at his home with his loving family at his side. Mr. Cordova is survived by his wife of six years, Yolanda Cordova; children, Jennifer Cordova-Quintana and husband, Ismael, Phillip A. He graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1975 and was the 22nd pick for the Texas Rangers in 1977. Mr. Cordova graduated from U. N. M. and played baseball for Wichita St. University. CRAIG -- Rodney Orville Craig, 72, a resident of Albuquerque since 1978, peacefully passed away in his sleep Wednesday morning, April 13, 2011. He is survived by his wife, Gwen, of Albuquerque: children, Lynn Cerelle Trost and husband, Larry, of Edgewood, NM; Ted Craig, of Carlsbad, CA; grandchildren, Heather Trost and fiancee Jeremy Barnes, of the Del Rio/Vecinos del Bosque communities, Sam Trost and wife, Hannah, and their child Vivian, of Idaho Falls, ID, and Brenda Trost and Helen Claire Trost, of Edgewood; sisters, Roberta (Bobby) Murray of Estancia, NM, and Pattie Apostolides of El Paso, TX. Rodney was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1958-1960. He was a police officer for El Paso, TX, and Phoenix, AZ, from 1960 to 1964. In Goodyear, AZ, in 1968, he and his friend, Alex Brown, opened their own print shop. One of the things they created was a beautiful brochure for the State Fair. He was also proud of being a bus driver for forest firefighters in the summer of 2006. He enjoyed very much his current job as a bus driver for the City of Albuquerque. DESJARDINS -- Joseph Louis Philip Desjardins, 84, a resident of Albuquerque since 1971, joined his beloved wife, Mary on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. He is survived by his children, Donald and wife, Pennie of Colorado Springs, CO, Patrick of Lewisville, TX, and Debbie Burrell and husband, Bill of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Brandi and Colin Burrell; and many other family and friends. Joseph was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary. Mr. Desjardins grew up in Brunswick, ME. He joined the US Army at age 17, left after two years to finish his education, re-enlisted and retired after 26 years of service. He had tours of duty in Italy, the DC area, Germany, Korea and Vietnam. Joseph and Mary met and were married while both were on active duty and stationed at the Pentagon. He received the Bronze Star among other awards. Joseph dedicated the last few years of his life to taking care of his wife. He was a generous and loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed. A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at French - Wyoming Chapel. FRANKLIN -- Emmitt, longtime resident of Albuquerque, died on April 8, 2011. He lived in Oklahoma for the last 10 years. He is survived by daughters, Mary Hancock (Robert) of Oklahoma City, OK, Ruth Ann Hilton (Rick), Weatherford, TX, Debbie Montoya (Carl), Brownsville, TX, Patricia Cortes (Gus), Bedford, TX, Carol Smith of Gainsville, FL, Jeannie Mejia of Denver, CO, Patricia Burrows, Louisville, KY; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and one sister, Fran Canham and husband John of Tijeras, NM. FRICKE -- Marcellus H. Fricke, age 89 of Albuquerque, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Maria; one son, Mark of Albuquerque; one daughter, Deborah Fricke (Ed Dunlap) of Albuquerque; five grandchildren, Jeffrey (Danielle), Juli, David, Shaughn and Frankie; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Luella and Marilyn (Chester) both of Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Frank in 2000. Marc served his country bravely and proudly for 32 years in the U.S. Army. His work with the American nuclear weapons program took him and his family to far away places such as Germany. They were also stationed in Hawaii, Texas, and Sandia Base in Albuquerque. His service covered three wars; World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. He worked at Los Alamos and visited the Trinity Site during those fateful days in 1945 when the first atomic bomb was constructed and detonated. Marc was and is a genuine American hero. Visitation will be held at French - Lomas Chapel on Tuesday, April 19, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a rosary following at 6:00 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011, 10:00 a.m., at the Shrine of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 11401 Indian School NE. GREEN -- A. Gregory Green, age 65, passed away March 29, 2011 after his valiant courage in living with COPD lung disease. He was born on November 23, 1945 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the son of Ronald Conrad Green and Josephine MacBeth Taft and married Shirley Butenhoff Scott, M.D. on April 25, 1992. R. Gregory Green was certified as both a Senior Professional in Human Resources and a Global Professional in Human Resources. He was a senior HR consultant to local and national businesses, specializing in strategic, tactical and operational implementation involving human assets. Mr. Green also served as a third party corporate ombudsman and certified mediator working with employers and employees in the resolution of workplace issues. Most recently he was owner and Chief HR Officer at North Star Human Resources and was Senior Advisor at Strategic Development Worldwide out of San Diego. A resident of Santa Fe, Mr. Green was a graduate of Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design. He attended Harvard University Special Courses and Loomis Chaffee Preparatory School in Windsor, CT. He was a U.S. Army Engineer Officer Candidate School graduate at the end of his service at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. where he was awarded a Joint Commission Medal. Mr. Green served on the National Board of Directors of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and on the Board of Directors of the SHRM Global Forum. He was a key contact to the National Skill Standards Board in Washington, D.C., was a registered member of the New Mexico Mediation Association, and was the 2006 Chair of the Board of Directors of the Human Resource Certification Institute. He was the recipient of the SHRM State of New Mexico Award for Professional Excellence in 2000 and was the Past State Chair of the Job Service Employers Connection of the New Mexico Department of Labor. He was also proud to be a member of the Society of Cincinnati, and the Native American All Nations Stronghold, with whom he was a shaman (Standing Green) and pipe holder. In addition to his active professional life, Gregory loved being part of the Santa Fe community and had many friends who appreciated his combination of charm, warmth, keen intelligence, quick wit, sense of humor and generosity of spirit. He was also known around town for his gentlemanly, dapper sense of style and impeccable taste. Gregory is survived by his sisters: Cornelia "Keena" (Park) Palmer and son, P.K., of Providence, RI; Kate (Peter) Vibert of South Carolina, daughters Jennifer Chapin of R.I. and Suzanne Chapin Larsen and daughter Devan of New Jersey. His stepsisters, Sara (Anthony) LeFleur of Toronto, Canada and children, Melissa Polidori of Toronto; Anthony (Maya) Smith of Toronto; Allison (Mark) McCarthy and children, Dillon, Grace and Prince of New York; Elizabeth (Terry) Hudson of Colorado. Sister-in-law, Beverly Butenhoff Kaufman of Huntsville, Alabama. Mr. Green's children: Dana (Don) Cataldi and children, Sophie, Isabella, Lily and Ryder of Los Angeles, CA; C. JACOT-GUILLARMOD -- Simone Laura Jacot-Guillarmod, born November 21, 1915, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the age of 95. Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Simone embraced her Swill heritage with French as her first language. At the age of nine, Simone moved to America and became a US citizen. She completed her high school education while learning English. Subsequently, she finished vocational school in East Orange, New Jersey. Proud of her brothers, Jack and Edward, who served with the US Army during World War II in the European theater, she somehow united them for a visit in Great Britain. USO miraculously let the brothers' furlough together for a short time while bombs were bursting above. In 1924, at the age of nine, she lived briefly in NY before moving to New Jersey where she resided for 63 years until 1987. During this time she worked for the Eskimo Pie Co., the Florsham-Park Swiss Bank in NYC and Allied Chemical Corp. Simone retired at age 62 and volunteered at the Florham Park Library. As a talented artist she exhibited her works at many venues. She as a member of Morris County Art Association, specializing in sketch boards and water color paintings, along with a few other types of art media. Not only creating but collecting art, she managed many exhibitions of dolls which she obtained throughout her impressive world travels. She then moved to Rio Rancho in 1987 where she resided for 24 years. While living in the Land of Enchantment she loyally corresponded with lifelong friends and family. Simone was a woman filled with great memories and stories that will be passed on forever. She will be missed. Simone is survived by three generations of nieces and nephews.

JOHNSON -- Theresa G. Johnson, 84, passed to eternal rest peacefully and quietly on April 9th at the La Vida Llena Retirement Community in Albuquerque, NM. She was born in Northampton, Massachusetts on October 9, 1926 the daughter of Polish immigrant parents Amelia and Joseph Guzowski. Theresa was educated in Northampton schools where she was a star basketball player. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Vermont and her graduate education at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology where she was awarded the degree of Master of Science Teaching. Following a brief career as a mathematician in the Engineering Department at General Electric, Theresa became a dedicated science and mathematics teacher. She taught in Proctor, Vermont; El Paso, Texas; and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her teaching awards include New Mexico Science Teacher of the Year, Albuquerque Public Schools Science Teacher of the Year and New Mexico Outstanding Earth Science Teacher. Throughout her teaching years she was very active in promoting and assisting students with science fair projects for which she received numerous awards in recognition of her work. In 1951 she married her husband, Norman, at Fort Benning, Georgia becoming a devoted Army wife during his 20 year military career. During the summer of 1949 she toured the country in a 1934 Plymouth investigating numerous places of interest from Massachusetts to California. Theresa enthusiastically enjoyed life. After retirement she became an award winning watercolor artist creating more than 200 paintings. Much of her retired life was devoted to numerous volunteer activities including the Animal Humane Association, Kirtland Air Force Base Thrift Shop and the New Mexico Regional Science Fair. Theresa is survived by her husband of 60 years, Norman G. Johnson of Albuquerque; daughters Dr. JoAnne Allen and her husband James Brainard of Albuquerque, NM, Nancy Bilderbeck and her husband Mitchell of London, England, and son Barry Johnson and his wife Margaret of Albuquerque, NM, nephews Richard, Robert and Bruce Guzowski, and grandchildren Lawrence Allen, Dr. Amy Bilderbeck and Dr. Raymond Bilderbeck. Theresa was predeceased by her brother, Dr. Victor Guzowski. Internment has been held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A memorial service celebrating Theresa's life will be held Tuesday, April 19th, 10am at the La Vida Llena Retirement Community, 10501 Lagrima de Oro Rd, NE, Albuquerque, NM. KLAR -- Loren William Klar Lt. Col. USAFR (Ret), age 90, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 9, 2011, with his loving wife Irene at his side. He was born in Menominee, Michigan to Elof and Hannah Oberg Klar. His brother Raymond preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Irene Barbara Klar, as well as cousin Patricia and husband Erwin Vrabel, who live in Illinois. Loren graduated from Menominee High School in 1939. He attended Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Michigan in 1948, graduating with a BS degree in Chemical Engineering. He honorably served his country in World War II in the United States Army Air Force as a combat bomber pilot in the 390th Bombardment Group of the 8th Army Air Force, flying B-17 Flying Fortresses. He retired from the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. He remained active in the Air Force Reserve. He was a member of the Medinah Shriners and the Mason Lodge in Illinois. He sang in choruses in high school, college and in Barber Shop Quartet groups. He was a resident of Albuquerque since 1964. He did volunteer work for the Albuquerque Veterans Memorial Museum, senior centers, State Fair and Balloon Fiesta. He was a fun loving person with a good sense of humor. Loren loved music and dancing. He loved his family, friends and country. Loren was well loved by his family and will be greatly missed. SANBORN -- Nancy Leone Nohl passed away peacefully, from complications following surgery, on March 24th, 2011 with her loving family by her side. Nancy was born on December 23rd, 1941 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Fred and Margaret Nohl. She graduated from Albuquerque's Highland High School in June of 1959, continued on to the University of New Mexico and followed in her mother's footsteps by pledging Kappa Kappa Gamma. SWEDBERG -- James Lee Swedberg died of a massive heart attack on Friday, April 8, 2011, two days before his seventy-fifth birthday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Florence Swedberg, his brothers John Gray and Gerald Swedberg, and his sister Virginia Zwicke. His sister Genevieve Cavanaugh survives. Jim was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on April 10, 1936. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, Oahu, in 1956, got his BS from New Mexico State in 1959, and an MS from the University of Arizona in 1979. A lifelong Missouri Synod Lutheran, Jim gave selflessly to his church, his wife, his children and his grandchildren. He is survived by Kay, his wife of 54 years; his daughters Jennifer Bohnhoff and husband Henry of Albuquerque, NM, Wendy Macdonald and husband Robert of Duxbury, MA, Heather Patrick and husband Robert of Alamogordo, NM, and Heidi Swedberg and husband Philip Holahan of Los Angeles, CA. TORRES -- Christopher Michael Torres, age 27, beloved son, brother, grandson and uncle passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2011. He was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, NM, and was an active member and past officer of the Knights of Columbus, Brother Mathias Barrett Council. Christopher's greatest joy in life was his family and he particularly enjoyed playing with and entertaining his young nieces. Christopher is survived by his loving parents, Stephen M. and Renetta Torres; two brothers, Matthew Torres and wife Dennica, and Daniel Torres and wife Nicol; grandparents, Fidel and Virginia Torres and Robert and Berlinda Martinez; nieces, Darion, Ciana, Enmarae, Elizabeth and Amara; nephew, Michael; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. TURNBOUGH -- Barbara Jean Turnbough, 79, of Albuquerque, went home to be with our heavenly Father Friday, April 15, 2011. She was born in Oceola, Iowa to the late Paul and Marian Carlson. Barbara graduated from Burlington Iowa High School in 1950 and married Richard F. Turnbough, Sr. in September of 1950. She then moved to Albuquerque in 1956 and later worked at Montgomery Wards and as a bookkeeper at UNM. She was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and a member of Golden Wings. One of her joys was getting together with her friends for breakfast. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Franklin Turnbough, Sr. and sister, Betty Shiflett. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Bogle and husband, Edward, Laura Gillespie and husband, Stan; sons, Richard Turnbough, Jr. and wife, Barbara, Robert Turnbough and wife Theresa; grandchildren, Slade, Heather, Cody, Cam, Brittney, Bobby, Rachel, Brent and Shawna; great- grandchildren, Brianna, Tyler and Taylor. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Deborah Hogan and family and David Shiflett and family, all of Albuquerque, as well as Bo, Buddy, Steve, Renie, Louanne and Di of Iowa. WILLIAMSON -- Charles (Chuck) Junior Williamson, 85, a resident of Albuquerque for 50 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2011. He is survived by his four children, John W. Williamson and wife, Susan, Rebecca J. Monette and husband, John, Charles Michael Williamson and wife, Debbie, and Debora L. Griffin and husband, Bill, all of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Christopher Monette, Mikal Monette, Kevin Williamson, Caitlin Williamson, Kayla Williamson, and Kyle Williamson; his beloved dog Bambi; cousins, Patricia Clue and Norma Jean Clancy, both from Kansas; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Elaine Williamson; and his parents, Charles and Mae Williamson. Chuck was born in Larned, Kansas in 1926. After graduating from Larned High School, Chuck entered into the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served in Pearl Harbor during WWII. He was stationed in the flag ship office with Admiral Chester Nimitz, the only five-star Admiral in the Navy, and on the U.S.S. Missouri. In a personal letter from James Forrestal, The Secretary of the Navy in 1946, Chuck was commended for serving in the greatest Navy in the world, crushing two enemy fleets at once, receiving their surrenders only four months apart. In the Navy, he was an expert marksman and a champion boxer. After the war, he attended Kansas State University where he played football. Chuck was an outstanding athlete, later playing semi-professional basketball for the ABL Phillips 66'ers. Charles met and married the love of his life, Theresa Elaine Durler in 1950. In 1955, Chuck was encouraged by Admiral Nimitz to relocate to Los Alamos, NM where he worked for the Los Alamos National Labs until 1961 when he transferred to Albuquerque to work for the Atomic Energy Commission. Chuck later worked for GE and eventually owned his own jewelry production business, ABC Traders. He loved bowling and golf. Chuck was a loving father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service was held at French - Wyoming Chapel, Saturday, April 16, 2011. WINSTEAD -- Sharon Lee Winstead, 67, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, died Monday, April 11, 2011. Sharon was born on December 11, 1943 in Roswell, NM. She is survived by her husband, David, in Albuquerque; her son, Thomas Standifer and wife, Jessica of Sunbury, OH; two grandchildren, Jacob and Megan; her honorary daughter, Elda Alvarez of Albuquerque; brother, Paul Sorensen and wife, Edith of Roswell, NM and their two sons, Steve Sorensen and his wife, Abby, and Michael Sorensen and his wife, Mindy of Roswell, NM; and many other grand-nieces and nephews. Sharon was preceded in death by her father Leslie Sorensen and mother Lorena (Newsome) Sorensen. She worked in the U.S. Civil Service as a Nuclear Data Base Analyst for the United States Air Force Inspector General Staff and with the Airborne Laser System Program Office (SPO) on Kirtland AFB, NM and retired from civil service on December 30, 2003. Cremation has taken place and interment of cremated remains will take place at Roswell, NM on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 with a private graveside service. ZANGARA -- Jerome "Jerry" Zangara, 78, of Albuquerque died Friday, April 15, 2011. He was born to the late Salvatore and Eleanor Zangara. He was an Air Force Veteran and was involved with law enforcement most of his life. He was a Chavez County Deputy Sheriff and a Lieutenant with the Roswell Police Department. Later, he was an instructor with the Federal Police Academy in Roswell and ended 12 years of service with the NM Parole Board in 2010. He was also an avid gun collector and marksman. He was predeceased by his wife Lucille Zangara. Survivors include his sons, Kenneth B. Zangara and wife, Kathy of Albuquerque, Kevin A. Zangara and wife, Alice of Taos, Danny Zangara of Roswell and James Zangara and partner, Toby Hamilton of Hollywood, CA; brother, Gino Zangara and wife, Vicky of Dallas, TX; sister, Geri Basilotto and husband, Paul of FL. He will be dearly missed by his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, many special friends and his German Shepherd, Duchess. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 P.M., Monday, April 18, 2011 at Eastern Hills Baptist Church, 3100 Morris St. NE.
