HERRMANN -- Karl J. Herrmann, age 36. The youngest Herrmann---born April 14, 1974 passed away May 4, 2010. He is survived by his mother Antonia and step dad Larry Taylor; two children: John and Arlene; four siblings: Mike, Patty, Colleen, and Mo; other family and friends. Preceded in death by his father Eugene; and brother John. He will be laid to rest in the Philippines with his brother. His SMILE warmed hearts and touched souls. HUNTER -- Mary Ellen Hunter, 70, a resident of Corrales, NM since 1967 passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010. She is survived by her daughters, Valeria Hawn and husband Alan of Rio Rancho, NM, Casey Hunter of Albuquerque, NM; son, Jim Hunter and wife Caren of Albuquerque, NM; 11 grandchildren, Dustin and wife Cecily, Mitchell and wife Brandy, Shane, Shelby, Chaz, Heather, Nikki, Ashlee, Cassandra, Kaylee, Joshua; great grandchild, Madison; four sisters, Annette, Helen, Diane, Clara. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James. JARAMILLO -- Max Jaramillo went with the Lord on May 13, 2010. He was born on October 23, 1948. He grew up in Cuba, New Mexico and resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Max retired from AMAFCA after 25 years as a heavy equipment operator. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Rita; son Marcos; daughter Michelle Saavedra and husband Chris; two grandchildren Victoria and Jacob; Sisters Eva Crowther and husband Brad, Felice Baldonado and husband Joe; brother in- laws, sister in- laws, nieces, nephews, Godchildren and extended family. Pallbearers are Brad Crowther, Christopher Crowther, Dominic Casaus, BuddyJake Bachicha, Chris Saavedra and Anthony Archuleta. Honorary pallbearers are James Casaus, Jacob Saavedra, and Joshua Suskey. A Viewing will be held Monday May 17th at 3:00pm at Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St SW, Albuquerque, NM. Rosary will be held at 6:30pm on Monday, May 17th, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 1860 Griegos Rd NW, Albuquerque NM. Mass will be held Tuesday, May 18th at 9:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, 1860 Griegos Rd NW, Albuquerque NM. Burial will follow immediately in Cuba, New Mexico on Max and Rita's ranch. JOHNSON -- Robert N. Johnson, beloved husband, father and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Easter morning, April 4,2010. "Bob" was born near Woodland, California, on May 14, 1919. He grew up there on an almond and cattle ranch, graduating from Esparto Union High School in Esparto, California, in 1937. He was a member of the California National Guard 1935-1938, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was foreman of a welding crew for Bethlehem Steel, working on new destroyers in San Francisco, and also supervised construction of floating dry docks for the Navy in Eureka, California. He was inducted into the United States Army Air Corps in September, 1943, and was honorably discharged in March, 1946. He loved flying, logging over 5,000 hours, spent years as a crop duster, and also flew the U.S./Mexico border for the BLM. He was a corporate pilot and heavy equipment supervisor for Universal Constructors in Albuquerque, N.M., and in the 1970's, he managed Coronado Airport, also in Albuquerque. The last few years he lived in Green Valley, Arizona, with his wife, Elizabeth, and worked for FICO, a large producer of pecans, where he was in charge of special projects. He and Elizabeth celebrated their 50 wedding anniversary in 2003. He volunteered at the Animal League of Green Valley and was a member of AOPA and the Aero Club of Arizona. He was involved with Wright Flight, an organization which encourages young people to stay in school and get good grades in order to get flying time with volunteer pilots. He enjoyed visiting with his many friends, and "hangar flying" with fellow pilots. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth; and children, son Donald Johnson and wife, Susan; daughter Sue Ettinger and husband Pete; daughter Sheri Courtney and husband Ken; daughters Mary Ann, Gayle, and Sandy; and son Noel; as well as many grandchildren. A Celebration of Life has been held in Green Valley, Arizona. Interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery will be conducted on May 21, 2010, at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, friends are welcome to donate to the Animal League of Green Valley, 1600 W. KAMINSKI -- Thomas Michael Kaminski, 46, a resident of Rio Rancho, NM for 38 years, passed away on May 13, 2010. Tom led a full, active life in spite of chronic health issues. He was an avid softball player, bicyclist, and restoring his 1977 classic Bronco was a source of great pride and joy for him. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna; and his children Kelley, Samantha, Steven, and John; his grandson Zaiden Thomas; his devoted mother Pat Kershow; his brother Kevin and wife Teri of Rio Rancho; uncle Frank Garvey of New York; nephews Nicholas, Matt, and Danny; and niece Danielle. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Richard Kaminski and his step-father Richard Kershow. KEIL -- Caroline Luther ("Lu") age 98, died April 21. Lu was born Oct 1, 1911 to Mary H. and Royal Luther Sr., in Amagansett, N.Y. She graduated from East Hampton, N.Y., High School in 1930 and from Columbia Presbyterian Nursing School in New York City in 1933. Lu worked on staff as head nurse at Presbyterian Hospital in New York City until 1945. She married William Keil in 1940 in Jefferson, N.Y., and they made their home in Merrick, N.Y., until they moved to Santa Fe in 1969. Lu worked part-time at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe before the hospital moved to its present location. For several years she served as a volunteer at the First Presbyterian Church, Santa Fe, the Santa Fe Indian Hospital, Meals on Wheels and the Food Depot. Lu was preceded in death by her husband Bill, parents and brother Royal Jr. She is survived by her daughter Susan Smith and husband Toby of Albuquerque, daughter Margot Hoercher and husband Donald of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren: Christopher Hoercher, Cari Santillan, Jedediah Smith and Carson Smith; and five great-grandchildren; Also, one niece Kaye Lycke and husband Bill of Palm City, Fla. Lu was a member of First Presbyterian Santa Fe until she moved to live with her daughter in Albuquerque in 2002, when she transferred membership to First Presbyterian Church, Albuquerque. Interment will take place May 21, 2010 at Santa Fe National Cemetery. A celebration of Lu's life will be held May 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Albuquerque. LAVAIL -- Billie Jean LaVail, 81, passed away suddenly Monday morning, May 10, 2010. She is survived by five nephews, Melvin B. LaVail, Maurice Steele LaVail, Forrest R. LaVail, M. Matt LaVail, and Fred LaVail: her sister-in-law, Betty R. LaVail; seven great nephews and nieces, Adam Amber, Sterling, Marcus, Joelle, Juliette, and Lauren; and her great-great nephew, Gabriel. She was preceded in death by her father, Maurice M. LaVail; her mother Billie Buck LaVail; her brother, Melvin M. LaVail; and her great nephew, Acanaan LaVail. "Jeannie", a native of Mississippi, moved to Albuquerque in 1969, working as a business secretary and bookkeeper. After retiring, she enjoyed conversing, shopping, playing pinochle, and traveling. LEYBA -- Ramon Francisco Leyba, 82, passed away on May 13, 2010 after a lengthy illness at his home in Pena Blanca with his family by his side. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years, Deolinda; three children, Elaine Romero and husband Steve, Elizabeth Miller and husband Doyle, and Raymond Leyba and girlfriend Rachel; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael, Joshua, Jacqueline, Kailynn and Jerrod; one great-granddaughter, Elizabeth; two brothers and four sisters; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Ramon was born in Pena Blanca, NM to Rafael and Marianita Leyba. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1949. Ramon was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pena Blanca and a member of the Society of Saint Joseph in Galisteo. Rosary will be recited for Ramon on Monday, May 17, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pena Blanca, with visitation one hour prior from 6:00-7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Ramon on Tuesday, May 18th, 2010 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Pena Blanca, NM, with burial immediately following the mass. The pallbearers will be Jonathan Romero, Michael Romero, Joshua Leyba, Jerrod Miller, Robert Leyba and Manuel DeAguero.
