MIERA -- Eloy A. Miera, 48, passed away suddenly May 5, 2010. Eloy was born August 24, 1961 in Albuquerque NM. Eloy was a professional boxer with Jack Candelaria Community Center in San Jose. Eloy is survived by five children, Guillermo, Jesus, Luana, Robert and Tomas; his mother Merlinda Miera; and father Eloy A. Miera Sr.; brothers, Albert and Orlando; sisters, Diana, Pearl, Samantha, Orlanda, Alica and Augustine; nine grandchildren; eight nephews and nieces and numerous other family and friends. A Memorial service will be conducted Friday, May 14, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at Jack Candelaria Community Center, 400 San Jose SE, Officiating Pastor Kirk Wesslink of Dessert Hills Baptist Church. Following Memorial services a reception will be held. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. Eloy was loved and will be missed dearly. May he rest in peace and God Bless you Daddy. PEARSON -- Kay Marie Pearson, 59, a resident of Albuquerque since 2007, died May 9, 2010. She is survived by her husband, Dick Pearson of Albuquerque; children, Sheldon Rosentreader of Albuquerque, Shellie Barbosa of Longmont, CO, Deanna Swallow of Fort Collins, CO; stepchildren, Ronald Pearson and Richard Pearson of Foxboro, MA; grandchildren, Kandice Gonzales of Walden, CO, Tylor Boyd of Walden, CO and three step-grandchildren of Foxboro, MA; brothers and sisters, Chuck Blake of Wisconsin, Jackie Blake of Michigan, Carol Young of West Virginia, Nancy Thompson of West Virginia, Albert Blake of Texas, Vera Thompson of West Virginia, Randy Blake of West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pearson was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence of Flat Top, WV, her mother, Lena of Flat Top, WV, her brother, Dana of Florida, and her brother, Kenny of Nebraska. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at French Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd NE with Pastor Rick Donaho, officiating. Cremation to follow. RIVERA -- Robert L. Rivera died on May 6, 2010. He was born the third of five children to Manuel and Vina Rivera of Old Town, Albuquerque. He graduated from Valley High School in 1966; moved to Los Angeles, California where he worked as an engineer's aid at the California Highway Department. He married and had a son named Marc Anthony Rivera. Robert returned to New Mexico with his son Marc and attended UNM. He moved back to California, enrolled and graduated from the University of California at Irvine in 1975. That year he created pre-school curricula, wrote and published children's books at La Escuelita in Oakland, California. He enrolled at the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), and in 1978, he graduated with his law degree and moved back to New Mexico. He served as a New Mexico Supreme Court clerk for Justice Dan Sosa and became a member of the New Mexico Bar. He worked as an associate attorney for the Bigbee Law Firm in Santa Fe, and later he practiced law with Ernest Valdez and as a solo practioner in Santa Fe and northern New Mexico. He also served as the executive director for the NM Mining Association. Robert loved politics. He was elected chair of the Santa Fe County Democratic Party; he also served as a member of the Democratic National Committee. Most of his professional life was spent lobbying and writing on matters of public policy and regulatory issues in Santa Fe. He had a keen mind, an infectious laugh and a great sense of humor. He is survived by his son Marc; longtime friend, Yvonne Sanchez and her daughters; siblings Charlotte Walton, Geraldine Rivera, Beatriz Rivera, and David Rivera. Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel at Mount Calvary Cemetery at 1900 Edith Blvd., NE on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place immediately thereafter.

RUIZ -- Mr. Leopoldo Ruiz, 82, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010. He was born in Las Vegas, NM on May 2, 1928 to Mariano and Lupita Ruiz and was the oldest of ten children. Mr. Ruiz was preceded in death by his loving wife Mauricia "Maureen" Ruiz and his son Russell Ruiz. He is survived by his children; Steve Ruiz, Rebecca Dyble and Genova Herrera and family in San Jose, CA. He is also survived by his remaining siblings; Salvador Ruiz and wife Lydia, Della Adams, Fredelina "Freddie" Palza and husband Mario, Helen Angel and husband Alfonso, Lydia Ruiz, Eloy Ruiz and wife Maria and Laida Martinez; as well as his grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mr. Ruiz was a disabled veteran (active member of the VFW) who served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a barber for most of his early life, enjoyed fishing and tending to his garden and raising his own green chili which he gave to neighbors, friends and family. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and was a kind, loving and tender man. We will miss him very much! A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, May 14, 2010 at Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco SW. A reception will follow immediately after the Mass in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.

SKENDER -- James, 53, loving son, brother and friend went home to be with our Lord Jesus, Sunday, May 9, 2010. He will always be remembered for his loving and giving heart. He is survived by his sisters, Beverly Goept and husband Lanny and Gloria Swapp; nieces, Arrie Martinez and husband Andrew, Danielle Goept, Melissa Brittan and husband Daniel and son Traton; Nephews, Alan Swapp, John Goept and Sara-Jesah Romero and son John Jr. and Jerome Montoya. SMITH -- Myrl F. Smith, 97 years old, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, changed his residence to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 8, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ellen U. Smith; his son, John R. Smith and wife, Janet of Bosque Farms, NM; grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, and Sierra; and great-grandchild, Christopher. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Myrn and Elwood; and his son, Peter Smith. Myrl was born in Belding, Michigan, attended Belding High School, and was enrolled two years at the Michigan College of Mining and Technology. In 1934, he received a Senatorial Appointment to the West Point Military Academy where he played football and baseball, and graduated in 1938. During his army career he served through WWII in Panama and Japan, and retired with the rank of Colonel in 1947. He briefly owned a sporting goods business before choosing to return to work for the government in the Test Division of the Atomic Energy Commission. He retired in 1972 to spend time with his family and friends, fishing, boating and camping. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 14, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 4800 Indian School Rd, NE with Pastor John Dykhuis officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranch, 6209 Hendrix Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110-1334. STEVENSON -- Martin J. Stevenson PhD, passed from this life May 1, 2010. "Marty" as he preferred to be called, was a true friend to everyone, and always had a kind word for all. A 20 year resident of Albuquerque, Marty was born June 10, 1945 in Syracuse, NY to Frederick and Florence Stevenson. He graduated from Syracuse University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1972. He started his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories, with 19 years service at Sandia National Laboratories. He was the beloved husband of Paulette (Crawford) Stevenson for 28 years. Marty was the father of two sons, David Stevenson, wife Guenn, with three children, of Florida; and Randy Stevenson, wife Ann, with two children, of California. Marty will forever be remembered by his in-laws, Jay and Brenda Denney, daughter Melissa, and James and Lyn Crawford, son James, all of Indiana. He will be missed by countless other friends who were fortunate enough to know him. He was an avid sailor, and cherished his 34 foot Hunter Sailboat, "Windependent". He and his sailing friends spent many happy days sailing and racing at Elephant Butte Lake. Marty loved to travel with Paulette, read, have fun with friends and relatives and most of all spend time enjoying life. Marty touched the lives of many with his smile and generosity, and his gentle nature will be missed. TRUJILLO -- Delfina N. Trujillo, age 90, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2010. Delfina is survived by her sister, Mary DeLillo; son, Donald Trujillo, and daughter-in-law, Jane Trujillo; grandson, Rodney Trujillo; granddaughter, Stephanie Shrader; great-granddaughter, Sabrina Shrader; niece, Debra Caudle; and nephews, Michael DeLillo and family and Richard DeLillo and family. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Jack Trujillo. Delfina was a very religious person, who put great faith in St. Jude, her patron saint. She was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend. The rosary will be recited Thursday, May 13, 2010, 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1860 Griegos NW.
