BACA -- Carlos Baca, Sr., 92, of Bernalillo, died peacefully at home on June 2, 2010. He was preceded in death by his son, Leroy, who died in 2004. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Inez; sons, Carlos, Jr. (wife Connie died in 2007) and Martin (Cecile); daughters, Dolores (husband, Sigfredo Baca, Jr. died in 2009), Lillian (John McDonald), Frances (Julia Anongos), Christine (Martin Bartoli) and Mary Ann Baca; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be conducted Saturday, June 12, 2010 with Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church at 11:30 a.m. followed by burial at the church cemetery. BACA -- Martha Ann (Sedillo) Baca, 50, a resident of Albuquerque, NM passed away Friday, June 4, 2010. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Victoria (Sedillo) Montano. Martha is survived by her granddaughter, Briaja Martinez; her parents, Adam Sedillo and Socorro Archuleta; brothers and sister; Adan Sedillo Jr. and wife Theresa, Joe Sedillo and wife Carol, Lorenzo Sedillo, Rose Sedillo, Daniel Sedillo, Arthur Archuleta and wife Carol, and Rudy Archuleta Jr.; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, other family members and friends who loved and will miss her. BARLOW -- Rose Mary (Sutter) Barlow, In loving memory, April 3, 1923 - June 6, 2010. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Albert and Rose Sutter. She graduated from De Sales Heights Academy in Parkersburg WV. Rose Mary was a "Rosie the Riveter" for a time during World War II in a truck factory. She spent the majority of her working career as a nurse and office manager for an orthopedic practice in Albuquerque, where she moved with her children in 1964. In 1969, she married F.D. (Doug) Barlow, the love of her Life, who preceded her in death in 2007. They were both members and volunteers for many years at The Shrine of St. Bernadette in Albuquerque. Rose Mary was also preceded in death by her parents, her son David Ripley, and her sister, Ada May Sutter. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Jay Johnson, with whom she has lived in Centennial, CO since 2008; by her son Daniel Ripley of Seattle, WA; and by three sisters: Dorothy (Mrs. John M.) Craig of Virginia Beach, VA, Sara (Mrs. Robert G.) Butcher of Parkersburg, WV, and Helen (Mrs. Robert L.) Sell of Willard, OH, as well as three grandchildren and two great - grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving mother with a fierce commitment to her family and also for her strong commitment to her faith. BRUSUELAS -- Ernestina Lopez Brusuelas, 88, resident of Rio Rancho, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010. She is survived by a son, Edward Brusuelas Sr. and wife, Stella of Tularosa; four grandchildren, Monica Madrid Romero and husband, Daniel, Damian Madrid, Edward Brusuelas Jr. and wife, Kristine, and Maria Brusuelas Mathiesen and husband, Thomas; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Esperanza Padilla and Emily Levine; brother, Michael Lopez; and numerous nephews. She was preceded in death by daughter, Marie Madrid. Ernestina was born in Ojo Caliente, NM to Salvador and Josefa Lopez. She was a graduate of Albuquerque High School in 1943 and immediately joined the US Army as one of the first Hispanic women to serve in World War II. She was an active member of the secular Franciscan Order of the Catholic Church, and she volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul at Sacred Heart Church in the Barelas neighborhood. Ernestina retired from civil service with the U.S. Navy after 35 years. Rosary will be recited Sunday, June 13, 2010, at 3:00 p.m., at French - Westside Chapel. CHARLEY -- Lena C. Charley, age 56, our beautiful and dedicated wife, mother, and sister, left her worldly surroundings to join her heavenly Father, on Monday, June 7, 2010. Lena is survived by her husband of 36 years, Andy Charley; sons, Lawrence and Timothy; daughters, Patricia "Patty", Theresa, and Cindy; sisters, Mae Castillo, Bessie Rafael and Pauline Castillo; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was a devout member of Apache Avenue Church of the Nazarene for over 35 years. During this time she devoted her efforts to Women's Ministries and loved working with Children's Ministries as a Sunday School Teacher, Children's Ministry Director, and adoptive grandmother. Our mother was best known for her radiant smile and sweet, kind disposition to family, friends and those blessed enough to cross her path. Lena could be seen driving her 1989 beige Ford Escort, which she named Herman, throughout town to attend a meeting, volunteer in her daughter's classroom or give a ride to friend in need. She was master of bingo, a connoisseur of coloring and a fan of Gloria's burritos. Lena will be greatly missed by us and all of those who did cross her path. CHAVEZ -- Julian Ted Chavez passed away, Saturday, June 5, 2010 in Albuquerque at the age of 91. Mr. Chavez served in the United States Marine Core. He was a veteran of WWII and participated in the South Pacific Invasions. He retired from Sandia National Laboratories in 1982 after 29 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Eloisa Chavez; wife, Erlinda "Lucy" Chavez; and brother, Paul Chavez. Mr. Chavez is survived by his sons, Ted Chavez and wife, Jann, and David Chavez; sisters, Dolores Gilbert, Susie Kosina and husband, Neil, Atanacia Trujillo, and Fabiola Morgans and husband, Bob; three grandchildren, Jessica, Julian and Sonya Chavez; and many nieces and nephews. CONNOLLY -- Phyllis Ann (Peters) Connolly, 81, a longtime resident of Albuquerque, NM, passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2010. Phyllis was born on January 24, 1929, to Henry Oscar and Bertha Ann (Heintzelman) Peters of Greensberg, PA. She is preceded in death by her stepmother, Alice Peters, her sister, Karen Baker, and survived by her sister, Penny Hawk. She has now reunited with her husband, Michael Vincent Connolly, Jr. She will be dearly missed by her children: Michael Vincent Connolly, III, and his wife, Barbara; Patrick Henry Connolly and his wife, Kathryn; Kevin Mark Connolly and his wife, Cheryl; and Laura Ann Connolly. Phyllis adored her grandchildren: Peter, Heidi, Meghan, Niklaus, Erin, Colin, and Angela; and her great-grandchildren: Atticus, Samuel, and Matthew. FERGUSON -- Erlinda Ferguson, age 61, of Albuquerque, died on June 3, 2010, after a brief illness. Erlinda was born in Arroyo Seco, NM to Jose Damian and Bessie Ortega, and moved to Albuquerque in 1968 after her marriage to Michael Ferguson. They raised three sons, Craig and wife Katherine, Patrick, and Matthew; She adored her two grandsons, Evan and Daniel; Erlinda is also survived by brother, Jose Damian Ortega and wife Diana of Taos, NM; and sister, Lucille Capra of Denver, CO. She loved children, and built her life around caring for them. Erlinda was an active contributor and member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. GARCIA -- Gilbert Garcia passed away on June 5, 2010. He was born in Albuquerque, NM on May 18, 1927. He was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his father, Reyes Garcia; his mother, Ignacita Garcia; and his brothers, Fidel, Soilo and Roldon. He is survived by his brothers, Lawrence and Moises from Los Angeles, California. In Albuquerque, he is survived by his aunt, Fidela Montoya; several nieces, nephews and many great nephews and nieces. Gilbert served in the Army during World War II. He worked at the Isleta Casino for many years. He retired in January of 2008 due to declining health. He attended Mass on a regular basis at St. Anne Catholic Church. He loved good food, music and dancing. He also loved to play cards and traveled often to Las Vegas and Laughlin, Nevada, and the various casinos in the Albuquerque area. Gilbert was a devoted brother and uncle. Family was very important to him. He was a wonderful friend and he touched the lives of many and he will be greatly missed. His brothers want to acknowledge and give special thanks to his nephew, Reyes Garcia; his nieces, Ignacita Garcia, Michelle Garcia and Bobbie Agee; and his cousin, Frances Anaya for their constant and loving care during his long illness. A Mass will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Following Mass his ashes will be interred in the grave of his beloved mother at Santa Clarita Cemetery. GRAVES -- Ferne Lorraine Graves, 96, passed away June 5, 2010, with her family by her side. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law David and Louanne Saylors, son-in-law Robert Wilson; grandchildren Kevin Saylors, Jennifer Wakefield and Holly Eiden and husband Kenneth; and great-grandchildren Hanna and Kenneth Eiden. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Graves in 1972 and her daughter Barbara Wilson in March of this year. Ferne was the first female technical supervisor at Sandia Laboratories and was beloved by her colleagues for her ability to support them in their work. She loved to travel and had circumnavigated the globe several times. Ferne cherished the uniqueness of Albuquerque and was a dedicated volunteer with the Albuquerque Council for International Visitors, serving as its president several times. HENDRY -- Gladys Vivian Hendry, 85, passed away, Sunday, June 6, 2010. She was born November 16, 1924 in Laconia, New Hampshire, a daughter of Maurice and Minnie Hopkins, Simond. She has been married to Carl Hendry for 27 years. Gladys was an active, charter member of Sandia Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her husband, Carl, of Albuquerque; one son, Robert and his wife, Sharron, Watauga, TX; three daughters; Linda Jaramillo, Watauga, TX; Jane and her husband, Bruce Kerr of Albuquerque; Gail Robertson, of Albuquerque; Charlenea and her husband, Gary Ellis of Moriarty, NM; Candice and her husband, Tony Fuentes, Alamogordo, NM; Carl and his wife, Linda Hendry of Centerville, OH; Calvin J. HICKMAN -- Patricia Ann Hickman, 86, a 45-year resident of Corrales, NM, passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Patricia was born in Albuquerque, NM, June 9, 1923 to J.W. and Ella Hesselden. Patricia was a graduate of Albuquerque High School where she and her twin sister, Rita, were cheerleaders. She and her husband, Berry Hickman, Jr. managed the Long Horn Ranch in Moriarty, NM for many years where they developed an avid love for the appaloosa horse. In the sixties, she and her family moved to Corrales, NM, where they continued breeding, raising, showing and racing appaloosa horses. Patricia was a continual presence on the ditch banks either riding her horses or walking her dogs and was a well known horsewoman all over the state. She was employed by Dan's Boots and Saddles for 25 years. Patricia left behind many loving family members: brother Adrian Hesselden and his wife Eva; children Berry Hickman, III, and Cathleen Fiedler and her husband Kurt; grandchildren Gina Hickman, Bo Hickman and his wife Marigold, Allyn Bates Summa, Seth Fiedler and his wife Marcelle, and Jesse Fiedler and his wife Missy; great-grandchildren Cory Lucero, Ozley Hickman, Lorraine Summa and Jazmine, Kayla, Ria and Mikaela Fiedler. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Anthony Hickman and six of her seven siblings. Patricia will be greatly missed by all that shared their lives with her. A private celebration of her life will be held for family members and close friends. The family expresses deep appreciation to all of her caregivers. JOHNSON -- Dwane Forest Johnson, 78, Father, Husband, Grandfather, Brother and Friend went home to be with the LORD on June 5th, 2010 surrounded by his family. Dwane leaves behind his beloved wife Gerry Johnson of 54 years, his son Mark Johnson, wife Sherry Johnson, his most cherished daughters; Melinda Paez, Pamela Garcia, his cigar smoking buddies and sons-in-law Charles Paez and Patrick Garcia. Dwane's pride and joy were his Grandchildren Ryan Johnson, Courtney Johnson, Marybeth Paez, Stephen Paez, Rebecca Paez, Trevor Garcia, Logan Garcia, Emma Garcia and Nolan Garcia; they will miss their "Grampy". Dwane also leaves behind his adored sister Carolyn Brandt and her husband Dr. Richard Brandt along with many nieces and nephews and long-time friends Bill and Carolyn McAdoo. Affectionately known as "Grampy" to his beloved Grandchildren, Dwane was born on August 20th, 1931 to William and Elsie Johnson in Newton, Kansas. He moved with his family to Albuquerque in 1960 and partnered with Dr. Robert Greiner to begin his dental practice in Albuquerque, he then opened his own office in the South Valley. His son Mark joined his practice eventually moving to the West Side. He had a successful dental practice for 50 years before retiring in 2005, where he was loved and respected by his employees, patients and many colleagues. Dwane had a compassionate heart toward all and never turned away patients regardless of their financial status. Dwane was an Eagle Scout, a member of the American Dental Society, NM Dental Society, Albuquerque Dental Society, instructor at the University of Missouri at Kansas City 1957, inducted in 1958 as a Captain to the Army Dental Corp. In 2001 Dwane took a medical Mission to provide dental care for the poor of Honduras. Dwane loved to camp, fish, golf and travel. He was a proud Kansas State Wildcat Alum 1953 and wore his Purple proudly. Dwane never took life too seriously and lived a full and blessed life! We are grateful for the time GOD allowed us to have with him and we will all miss his contagious smile, his silly noses, his loud colorful clothes and his many jokes. Memorial Service will be held on Thursday June 10th at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the Ray of Hope Lutheran Church, 7001 San Antonio Drive NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109 with a reception immediately following at the Fellowship Hall at Christ the Ray of Hope Lutheran Church. A Private Interment will take place at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico at a later date. KOTTLOWSKI -- Florence Chrisco Kottlowski joined her late husband, Frank, on Sunday, May 30, 2010. She had been under hospice care. Her family wishes to thank all care givers for their wonderful care of her during these past few months. She was born on July 12, 1924, in Walla Walla, Washington. She met her husband Frank during WWII and they married in 1945. They were married for 55 years. Socorro, NM, was her home for most of her life. Her cremains will be intered with Frank at the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Ewbank; and sister-in-law, Cissie Chrisco. She leaves behind her three daughters, Karen Harvey, Jan Wallace, and Dianna Shoderbek; She was especially fond of her sons-in-law, Albert Harvey; and David Schoderbek; but reserved a special place for her grandchildren, Adam Harvey (Angie), Benjamin Harvey (Stacy), Zachariah Wallace (Tanya), Donald Schoderbek (fiance, Maddie) and Florence Schoderbek; as well as her great-grandchildren, Rick, Kate, Frank, and Olivia. She was a lifelong volunteer in the public schools and she helped start a local thrift store in the 1970's. She spent many happy Tuesdays working there. It is thriving today. She also loved to plant things and her yard is filled with several different kinds of fruit trees, flowers, vegetables, and herbs. LOVATO -- Joe V. Lovato, age 93, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010. Joe is survived by his sons, Joe, and his wife Arlene, Anthony; and his wife Karen; sisters, Annita Martin, Dina Davis; brothers, Roger and Gilbert; grandchildren, Aaron, Christopher, Martin, Molly, David, Alethia, Kaitlin, Amanda, Stephanie, and Joey; and great-grandchildren, Vivienne, Nola, Kyler, and Brycen. He was preceded in death by his partner in life, Edwina; son, Le Roy; brothers, Morris, Lee, Mike, and Ralph; sister, Mary; and granddaughter, Lesa. Joe was born in Ft. Collins, CO, and was a WWII veteran who served in Africa and Italy. He was a bricklayer and loved his work which can be seen throughout New Mexico. MALLORY -- Marleen Ann Mallory passed away suddenly on the evening of June 4, 2010. She is survived by her father Michael Mallory; three siblings, Michael Mallory Jr., Ronald Mallory and Carla Mallory-George; her four sons, William Hyer Jr, Michael Hyer, Aaron Hyer and Brian Mallory; and her two granddaughters Ashley Renee Hyer and Cassandra Jade Hyer. MOYA -- Edward Andrew (Mangas) Moya, age 54, of Nashville, Tennessee, died Saturday, June 5, 2010 from complications with pneumonia. He was born December 13, 1955 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his father, Lalo Moya. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa Moya, of 36 years; sons, Juan Montoya and wife, Rhonda, Louie Palacios and fiancee, Sonya Duran; daughters, Elizabeth Moya, and Bernadette Valencia and husband, Angelo, Sarah Moya, and Christine Magana; 12 grandchildren; his mother, Julia Elliott, and stepdad, Merle Elliott ; stepmom, Carla Moya; seven brothers; eight sisters; numerous nieces, nephews and too many friends to count. Edward truly loved the Lord, his family, and had a passion for welding. He was an employee at Metromont Corporation. He was a simple man whose arms were always open to those in need. He would give anything he had to make another persons life better. He raised his children in the Lord and constantly maintained that respect throughout his life. His smile warmed our hearts and the hearts of those who knew him. His kindred spirit and warm heart will be missed forever. PROVONZIE -- Sue Provonzie, 76, of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away in her home on May 27, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Alma and Cecil Bryan Doss Sr., born January 15, 1934 in Clarksville, Texas. She graduated from Clarksville High School, obtained an associate degree from Paris Jr. College, received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from North Texas State University, earned a master's degree in guidance and counseling from Oregon State University, and completed post graduate study at the University of New Mexico specializing in education / school administration. Contributing 43 years to education, she served as a teacher, counselor, consultant, and administrator. She was a principal in the Albuquerque Public School system the last 27 years of her career before retiring in 1998. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority and of numerous educational and professional organizations. She married Joseph Provonzie on November 25, 1967, and they were married for over 42 years. She was a loving person who enriched the lives of all those around her. Her genuineness, elegance, generosity, and love for her family all made her a very special person. She had a beautiful spirit, a wonderful sense of humor, and was a true Southern lady. She was a gifted vocalist, artist, and educator. She loved traveling with her sister, going on special outings with her husband, reading a good book, going to lunch and shopping with friends, and living life to the fullest. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alma and Cecil Bryan Doss Sr. and her brother, Cecil Bryan Doss Jr. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Provonzie of Albuquerque; her sister Jean Somoza of Paris, Texas; her sister-in-law Carolyn Doss of Waco, Texas; one nephew David Somoza of Paris, Texas; three nieces, Julie Janes and husband Mac, and daughter Caroline of Paris, Texas, Suzanne Sheffield and husband Sam, and sons Bryan and Steven of Spring, Texas, Shelly Doss and Joel and Hunter Long of Galveston, Texas; and her lifelong friend Janelle Bender Reed of Los Lunas, New Mexico. She was truly an extraordinary person who will be greatly missed by all her friends and family. Special thanks to Dr. Francisco Ampuero for his compassionate care. SCOBY -- Robert Joe Scoby, (RJ) was healed on June 5, 2010 by his Lord and Master. He was born on May 22 1929 in Amarillo, Texas. He served in the Navy and also worked as a Police Officer for the Amarillo Police Department before moving to Albuquerque where he met his wife of 53 years Betty Jo. He worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company as a PBX repairman. He retired in 1986 after 30 years of service. He then answered his second calling, and traveled all over the United States ministering to small churches and spreading the Gospel. "Grandpa" loved the Lord, loved his family, loved to cook, loved to tell jokes, LOVED to fish, loved to golf. He loved life. He was a member at several churches of Christ, but called Netherwood Park his home church. He was preceded in death by his parents Duron and Alpha Pearl Scoby; sister Patricia Norris; brother Herbert Scoby; son-in-law Bob Gorsline; and his beloved wife Betty Jo. He is survived by his children Carmen Lassiter of Artisia, NM, Bob Scoby of Albuquerque, NM, Judy Street of Corrales, NM, Greg Scoby of Los Gatos, CA, Annette Martin Gorsline of Abilene, TX; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren' his sons and daughters-in-laws and also his grandchildren in-laws. THOMAS -- Rufus Thomas, age 67, a resident of San Rafael passed away Sunday, June 6, 2010.
