ACOSTA -- Fermin Acosta a resident of Albuquerque for 47 years and a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend went home to be with our Lord on Thursday, June 3, 2010. Fermin was born August 17, 1924 in Jimenes, Mexico. Fermin is survived by his loving wife, Aurora of 64 years; daughters, Olga Delgado and husband, Jose and Elvia Chavez; one sister, Socorro Corral; three grandchildren, Jose Delgado Jr., Dalia Delgado-Baca and Leanna Jeantete; seven great-grandchildren, Joey, J.J., Jacob, Maya, Zenon, Gaby and Dancia; and many nieces and nephews. Fermin was known for his love for music especially mariachi music, "Era El Sastre De Los Artistas y El Artista De Los Sastres" and baseball. Fermin will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation will be Sunday, June 6, 2010, 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM in the Palm Chapel, Rosary to be recited following viewing at 7:00 p.m. also in the Palm Chapel. BRINK -- Martha Lane Root Brink, 94, passed away June 2, 2010 from natural causes in her home. She was born to Francis S. Root and Florence M. Lewis on June 2, 1916 in Fall River, MA and moved to Albuquerque in 1927. Martha is survived by her sons, Walter l. Brink (Debbie) and William Leo "Bo" Wells (Nikke); six grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A viewing will be held Sunday, June 6, 2010, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at French - University location. ELKINS -- Robert Edward Elkins, 65, a well known resident of Albuquerque passed away unexpectedly after a short illness on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. He is survived by his mother, Virginia Gonzales of Albuquerque; his life partner, Linda Champion; and her daughters, Lisa, Teri and Cristi of Albuquerque; sons, Dwane Elkins of Phoenix, AZ and Donald Elkins of Los Lunas; brothers, Kelley Elkins of Las Cruces, NM and Joe Elkins and wife, Gail of Everett, WA; grandchildren, Dwane Jr., Jenna, Justin, Nicholas and Ashley. HORTON -- Frances "Granny" Horton nee Wilkinson born in Anyox, BC Canada, May 15, 1917 died at St. Catherine Healthcare and Rehab, Albuqurquere, NM on May 27, 2010. Memorial services were held May 30, 2010 by her loving congregation at Restoration Ministries. She is remembered by Diana Montoya Jaramillo, Major Larry Lawrence (Ret.) and her niece Winifred Ann Heistad; grandsons, Scott (Darla) Sharp and family, Christopher (Caren) Sharp and family; granddaughter Mikel Popp (John) and family; and many nieces and nephews in British Columbia and Alberta. She was predeceased by her husband William George Horton (1975); and only daughter Caroline Jean (2002); father Thomas Jackson Wilkinson; mother Mary Elizabeth Wilkinson; brothers, Frederick, Alexander, Henry and John; sisters, Dora and Winifred. LEE -- Clara Lou Lee, a resident of Albuquerque, passed over peacefully on June 1, 2010. Clara Lou was born on February 22, 1933 in Atarque, NM and was raised in Quemado, NM. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, James L. Lee, Jr. who died in June of 2005. She is survived by her sons, James Louis Lee III and wife Cynthia, John Lee and wife Cindy; daughter Janet Marie Ohlig and husband Ronald; granddaughters, Lisa Marie Carter and husband Scott, Samantha Kate Lee, Tosha Ann Ducker and husband Michael; grandsons, J. Louis Lee IV and wife Laura, Scott Charles Lee, Christopher Lee Ohlig; great-grand children, Trevor Carter, Anna Ducker and Jacob Ducker; sister-in-law, Patsy Ann Nesbitt; niece, Lee Ann Moores and husband Mark and their daughter Sara; nephew Ralph Dewey Nesbitt and wife Barbara; and many other loving family members and friends; and her daily companion "Tiny", her poodle. Clara Lou loved flowers and nature and was an avid gardener. She loved arts and crafts, puzzles, reading and history. She was an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School, taught in the schools of Ysleta ISD and had her own pre-school in Albuquerque where many children had adopted another "Nana" in their lives. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her. The family wishes to thank Inja (Pip) Thorne for being more than her caretaker but was also her companion. Their love and passion for handiwork crafts and the outdoors kept Clara Lou going strong during these last few months as she battled cancer. Family and friends are invited for a service to pay tribute and celebrate her life on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd in Albuquerque. Clara Lou will be laid to rest on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. on the A Lazy A Ranch in Quemado, NM. MANCHESTER -- B. Preston Manchester, age 76, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2010. He is survived by his children, David, and wife, Cindy, Bruce, Wayne, Lora, and husband, Michael; and four grandchildren, Nichole, Ryan, Madison and Cameron. He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Ester; his brother, Mason; and sister, Lois. Preston was born in East Providence, RI and after joining the Air Force he became a lifelong resident of Albuquerque. He served as a pilot in the Air Force and was a Korean veteran. He had a passion for flying planes, racing boats, driving fast cars and riding motorcycles. MULRYAN -- Carol Mulryan, a resident of Albuquerque since 1966, died June 4, 2010. Carol was born in Axtell, KS in 1935 to Herman and Mary Kuckelman. She is survived by four children, Steven Mulryan and wife Tracy, David Mulryan, Janet Horowitz and husband Jerry, and Gary Mulryan and wife Mary. She is also survived by seven grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Mulryan who died in 2002. A rosary will be recited Monday, June 7, at 7:00 PM at French Wyoming Chapel, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE. PACHECO -- Carrie Estrada Pacheco. Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was born Feb. 17, 1923 in Trementina, NM to Juan and Laura Estrada. She peacefully departed this life and went home to be with our Lord and Savior on June 2, 2010 reaching the age of 87 years old. When Carrie was 18 she met the love of her life, Carlos Pacheco and they were married on July 3, 1941. They shared life joys for 63 years until he was called home in May of 2004. They spent the early years of their lives in South Carolina while Carlos proudly served his country during WWII. When the war was over, they returned home to New Mexico. Carrie began working at Kirtland Air Force Base where she worked for many years until making the decision to become a stay at home mom. She was devoted to the care and well being of her family. She loved and cherished her grandchildren, always responding to their needs before her own. In giving of herself to others, she found the true joy of living. She loved to have a table full of company and her home was always open. Later in life, she began working at New Futures School. She continued her nurturing care of children while at New Futures until her retirement in 1998. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Carlos; parents, Juan and Laura Estrada; stepmother, Juanita Estrada; three sisters; two brothers; and three brothers-in-law. Left to cherish fond memories are her daughter, Olivia Higgins; grandchildren, Laura Garcia, Matt Higgins and wife, Jennifer, Keith Higgins; and three great-grandchildren, Derrick Garcia, Alexis Whatley and Mya Higgins. Carrie is also survived by ex-son-in-law, Craig Higgins who continued to love her; nine sisters; three brothers; ten brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews and family friends. A celebration of Carrie's life will begin with a viewing on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at Riverside Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 7, 2010 at Cristo del Valle Presbyterian Church at 10:00 a.m. 3907 Isleta Blvd. SW, Albuquerque, NM. PADILLA -- Perfilia Padilla, age 88, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 3, 2010, while surrounded by her loving family. Perfilia was a longtime resident of Socorro, NM, but for the last year had been living in Albuquerque with her daughter due to failing health. Perfilia was born in Quemado, NM on April 30, 1922. At the age of 6 she lost her father and an aunt in a boating accident in a small lake near Quemado. She was raised by her mother and her grandmother. She attended Mt. Carmel School in Socorro and St. Vincent Academy in Albuquerque. She also attended a Catholic University in Ohio. After WWII she married Seles Padilla Sr. They began their careers teaching at a small school in San Mateo, NM. After two years they moved to Polvadera, NM, where they raised their family. Perfilia never lost her love for teaching and at the age of 53 received her degree in elementary education from NMIMT. She then began teaching again at Torres Elementary until her retirement. Perfilia is survived by her children, Seles Padilla Jr. and wife Margaret from Socorro, Mary Ellen Chavez and husband, Stanley from Albuquerque, and Larry Padilla and wife, Jun Fang from Los Lunas, NM. In addition, she is survived by ten grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren; three great- great- grandchildren; and many niece, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by a sister, Alice Martinez and husband, Robert from Socorro; and sisters-in-law, Lillie Apodaca from Polvadera,NM, and Susie Padilla from Socorro. She is preceded in death by her husband, Seles Padilla Sr.; and sister, Lupe Vallejos. Funeral services will be on Monday, June 7, 2010 at San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro with a rosary recited at 8:30 a.m. and a Mass immediately following.
