ARAGON -- Miguel Roldan Aragon, 71, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2010 from congestive heart failure. He leaves his wife of 33 years, Maria Eugenia Lopez de Aragon; his daughter, Ana Aragon de Miller and husband Brian Miller, his daughter Maria Aragon de Gonzales and husband, Jonathan Gonzales; his son, Miguel Aragon - Lopez; his daughter, Margarita Aragon - Lopez; his grandson Sebastian Miller - Aragon; his soon to be born second grandchild; his siblings and friends. Born in Belen, raised in Aragon, NM, the son of Mequiades and Gertrudis (Armijo) Aragon, was a resident of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mr. Aragon spent his early years in Aragon, NM on his family's ranch. At an early age he ventured to the East Coast where he graduated from Maryknoll Preparatory School in 1959. After attending Maryknoll Seminary he was welcomed into the priesthood in 1963. He continued his education and graduated in 1967 with a bachelor's in Theology and later attained his masters. Once graduated, he started his missionary work in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, where he met his wife, Maria Lopez Esquivel and started a new journey. In 1976 they were married and moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin were Miguel started working for the US Forest Service. In 1980 he also graduated with an additional bachelor's in Business Management from LaSalle Extension University and immediately after the birth of his second daughter, Mr. Aragon moved his family to Albuquerque, NM and continued his work with the US Forest Service. In 1983 Mr. Aragon purchased his father's ranch and started to fulfill a lifelong dream with the help of his four children and wife. Thus started many years of balancing suits and ties with dusty boots and a sombrero. His dedication and passionate out look on life on the ranch never ceased to surprise his children who stood by his side and shared the same balancing act between busy weekends on the ranch and attending to their school lessons in Albuquerque during the week. Mr. Aragon was a complicated man, as referred to once by his eldest daughter. A man of many passions and an unstoppable will to match. The world was very much his oyster and he lived like there was no tomorrow. He was a vehement reader of an impressive selection of books, which of late consisted primarily of many novels written in the Spanish and Portuguese language. He was a lover of words, always trying to communicate his invincible spirit to those with the necessary patience to truly lend an ear. He was a man of challenges, facing the world alone at a young age, going against the odds when a decision needed to be made. He stood with this immense integrity that shined through it all. He will be known and remembered forever as the cousin, the uncle, the brother, the son, the husband, the father and above all, the man; the man whom beyond any doubt had truly existed. A viewing will be Wednesday June 2, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Palm Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 1100 Coal Ave SE, Albuquerque, NM with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The funeral Mass will be June 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., Santo Nino Church in Aragon, NM. FOSTER -- Roy W. Foster December 21, 1926 to May 26, 2010 Socorro resident Roy W. Foster passed away peacefully May 26th at his home. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Florence Crespin Foster. He is survived by his three children: Jennifer Krajack, husband Michael and daughter Kalinah of Lopez Island, WA, Regina Dello Russo of Escondida, NM, and Eden Foster and wife Laurie of East Hampton, NY. He is also survived by three cherished grandsons: Jordan, Turner, and Toby, sons of Eden and Laurie Foster. Roy was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1926 where he attended school until graduating. He spent his boyhood summers in New Orleans, LA with his mother's family. His boyhood there was important to him and he spoke of it often. After high school Roy joined the army and following the end of WWII he returned to Ohio where he graduated with honors from Ohio State University in Geology. After graduation he accepted a job with the USGS, spending months on foot mapping southeastern Utah, a place that would be special to him for the rest of his life. As a father he took his children numerous times to Utah, the western National Parks (a geologist's paradise): Yellowstone, the Tetons, the Canadian Rockies, and of course the Grand Canyon - always the north rim of the Grand Canyon though because the view of the geologic record was better from that view. He settled in Socorro, another area of great rock exploring, and as a petroleum geologist, Roy had a long career at the New Mexico Bureau of Mines and then the Petroleum Research and Recovery Center. Following retirement, he consulted as a partner in Verde Oil and continued to enjoy geology for years to come. Roy was loved dearly by his family and most deeply by Florence and he struggled with life after her death five years ago. There is now a place in geologic time where they are together again. Offerings may be made in lieu of flowers to the Girls and Boys Ranch, New Mexico, a favorite and long time charitable program they supported. A service for family and friends is planned for early July. Please share your condolences, sympathies and memories with the family at: www.danielsfuneral.com Roy's care has been entrusted to: Daniels Family Funeral Service 3113 Carlisle Boulevard, NE.
