APODACA -- Ernest D. Apodaca (69) passed away Friday, May 21, 2010 after a long battle with his illness. He was a long time Little League, YAFL and USATFA coach. Known as the Ya-Ya Man, he retired from Sandia Laboratories, lifetime member of the IAM. Ernest is survived by his wife Emily of 49 years; four children, Don ife Ruth, Ron, Dianne Medici husband Enso, and Renee. Their grandchildren Evonae, Angelica, Dominic, Ronnie, Anthony, Nicole, Adrian, Margarita, Jacqueline and Jenna; and two great-grandchildren; brother Tomas Apodaca, wife Feliza; brother, Bill Baca, wife Judy; brother-in-law's, Mike Baca wife MaryAnn, Steven Baca wife Lulu; sister-in-law's, Debbie Martinez husband Johnny, Kathy Acosta; many nieces and nephews; and Shit-zu, Hannah. Ernest was a son, husband, brother, father, grandfather, coach, mentor, friend, and a great influence to all. He taught to always "BETTER YOUR BEST". BROOKS -- Victoria Brooks, born to Olivia and Earl Brooks on June 8, 1958 in Los Angeles, CA., passed away on May 20, 2010 in Chilili, NM. She is survived by her mother Olivia Brooks; and three brothers, Michael Brooks, Earl Brooks, Jr., and Carlos Brooks and wife Michelle; one sister Patricia Montoya; and very close and special aunt, Vera Munoz; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father Earl Brooks, sister Loretta Ramirez and brother-in-law, John Montoya. Victoria had two very close friends that cared for her throughout the years, Viola Pandergast and Margaret Gallegos. Visitation will be held Tuesday May 25, 2010 at the Carlisle Chapel, Daniels Family Funeral Services, 3113 Carlisle Blvd, NE, Albuquerque, NM from 6:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at Holy Child Parish, 19 Camino del Santo Nino, Tijeras, NM at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at the Chilili Cemetery. CHRISTENSEN -- Donald Alan Christensen, 51, passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 20, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carla; two daughters, Victoria Diana and Molly Elizabeth; mother, Shirley McNeal; sister, Katherine Dannenberg; nieces, Jennifer, Jamie, Jessica, Heather, Taylor, Kaylee; and nephew, Jesse. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Christensen. Donnie especially loved his family and was an avid outdoorsman who loved kayaking and fishing. He worked for Charlie and Debbie as their lead Electrician for 17 years. GARCIA -- Jennie A. Garcia, 89, passed peacefully knowing she was loved by her family and friends on Thursday, May 20, 2010. Our very loved mother and grandmother lived a happy and full life and never lost her sense of humor. She was a faithful member of the Catholic Community and over the years was a member of St. Anne's and Queen of Heaven. Jennie is preceded in death by her parents Patrico and Manuelita Abeyta, her son, Steven Garcia; brother, Joe Abeyta; and sisters, Molly Saavedra, Alice Hosek and Emma Sanchez. She is survived by her daugther, Victoria Candelaria; sons, David Garcia and wife, Judy, and Phillip Garcia; brother, Eloy Abeyta; sisters, Patsy Lopez and Flora Garcia; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friends. A Rosary for Jennie will be recited on Monday evening, May 24, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Queen of Heaven Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. HOLDER -- Steven (Steve) Albert Holder passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 20, 2010 after a long battle with a terminal illness. He was 54 years young. Steve was born to Wayne and Elaine Holder in Clovis, CA on December 14, 1955. He graduated from Herbert Hoover High School in Fresno, CA in 1974. Always mechanically gifted, he received his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Industrial Technology from CalPoly State University in San Luis Obispo, CA. in 1989. Steve was a notorious jokester and punster. Not only was he known as Mr. Crude, but also Mr. Fix Anything; always willing to help. As an avid outdoorsman Steve loved to hike and camp with his family and friends. His greatest passion was cycling and as a competitive cyclist Steve rode in numerous races. He also enjoyed mountain biking and long distance rides with friends. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Wayne B. Holder and survived by his mother Elaine E. Holder of San Luis Obispo, CA. He is also survived by his wife of over 20 years Norma Holder; daughter Kambre Holder, Aaron Havens and Joanna Havens Bennett whom he raised; son-in-law Joshua Bennett; two beautiful granddaughters Berkley and Sawyer Bennett; his brother Wayne Holder Jr.; sister Elaine Holder Zieroth and husband Steven; sister Linda Holder Friesen and husband Don; niece Joel O'Connell, husband Karl and daughter Brianna; and many cherished friends. The family gives their heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers and staff of Odyssey Healthcare Hospice and Willow Wood. There will be no funeral service, but a memorial service will be held in approximately one month. JENNINGS -- Leola Jennings, age 93, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy L. Jennings; her parents; and son Roy L. Jennings, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Cora Lee Lindsay, Etta J. Smith, Nellia Ray Worrell, Rosemary Jennings-Williams; and son, Thomas Calvin Jennings. Leola was one of the founding members of Shiloh Baptist Church. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Shiloh Baptist Church. LUJAN -- John D. Lujan, 65, passed away in Albuquerque on May 17, 2010. John was born September 1, 1944. He attended St. Mary's High School as well as New Mexico Tech. He later served in the U.S. Army and worked at Intel for many years. He was preceded in death by his father, Duven, and recently his mother, Emma. He is survived by his sister, Priscilla; his brother Rick and wife Julie Ball; and his dear friend of more than thirty years, Mary Crites. John will be deeply missed. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m on Thursday, May 27, 2010 at Mt. Calvary Cemetary, 1900 Edith Blvd NE.

MARTINEZ -- Bruno Martinez, age 84, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away at home with his family by his side on May 22, 2010. Bruno is survived his sons, Bernie and Robert and their families; daughter, Dolores and husband Ralph and family; sisters Christina, Estella, Anna, and Josie; brothers Salvador and Elias; sister-in-law Rachel Medina; eight grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Margaret; his parents Jose and Vicenta; three grandchildren Virginia, Daniel, and Benjamin; and daughter-in-law Marie Martinez; life long neighbors and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Emilio and Isabel Terrazas (survived by Angie Dixon). Bruno was a WWII veteran who served in Normandy as a gunner and he was retired from PNM. He was a very hard worker who enjoyed farming and had a great love for the family pet Chiquita. The Martinez family would like to thank Father Voorhies for visiting our home and blessing our father at the hour of death. A special thanks to his nurse Ellen Kenney and the home health aide Alicia Vasquez and everyone at Odyssey Hospice for taking great care of our father Bruno Martinez.
