ABEYTA -- Rev. Eppie Abeyta born in Leadville, Colorado on March 24, 1924 to Teofilo and Maria Abeyta went to be with his Lord on Sunday, May 9, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lydia Abeyta; brother Wences Abeyta; and sister Severa DeAguerro. Survived by his children: James Abeyta and wife Belia, David Abeyta and wife Tina, JoAnn Rios and husband Manny, Dorothy Padilla and husband Jose', Liz Gutierrez and husband John, Neomi Guerrero and husband Martin; and his grandchildren James Abeyta, Jr. and Denise Morang; Vanessa Buffington and Jessica Sanchez, Mario Abeyta, Marcos Abeyta, and Joy Varela, Carlos Gutierrez, Tomas Gutierrez, and Natalie Gutierrez; Candace McKillip and Elias Guerrero; nine great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces, friends and relatives, and fellow clergy. He was preceded in death by brother Tony Abeyta, sister Sally Abeyta, and granddaughter Elaine Lovato. Rev. Abeyta was a retired ordained minister and member of the Central Latin American District Council of the Assemblies of God Fellowship and resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He and his loving wife pastored many churches throughout New Mexico for over 30 years. He was considered the pillar and patriarch of the family and will be sorely missed by his family and numerous friends and relatives. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services that will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. and Friday, May 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Harvest Fellowship Church at 5331 Montano NW. CANDELARIA -- Joe I. Candelaria, 71, a resident of Albuquerque passed away on May 12, 2010. Mr. Candelaria is survived by his children, Joe Candelaria and wife, Debbie, Dennis Candelaria and wife, Carmen, and Cindy Candelaria; six grandchildren, Andrew, Simone, Chloe, Raquel, Santiago, and Xochitl; his sisters, Berna Martinez and husband, Al, Sandra Lucero and husband, Chano, and Dolores Montoya and husband, Freddie; his brothers, Charlie Candelaria, and Johnny Ray Candelaria; and many other extended family members. Mr. Candelaria was preceded in death by his wife, Connie; his brothers, David, Lupe, and Eloy; and his sister, Josie. Visitation will be Thursday, May 13, 2010 in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, from 6:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., by Mrs. Martha Herrera. CANDELARIA -- Lucy Candelaria, 86, was a Loving, Caring, and Beautiful Mama, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. She was deeply devoted to her kids and grandkids and always sought to teach them to "be good". A member of Sacred Heart Parish for over 40 years, she helped around the church in countless ways including cleaning the church and arranging the altar. She Loved singing with various choirs throughout the years, and praying and singing with the Legion of Mary. She prayed every day at home too, and though she took life seriously, she loved to laugh and joke. One of her pastimes was baseball and her favorite teams were the Dukes and Braves. Lucy is survived by her brother Gil Candelaria and wife Flora; son Louie Sanchez and wife Christina; daughter Marie Yvette Pedroncelli and husband Mike; four grandkids: Robert, Evelina, David, and Carlos; and seven great-grandkids: Rosicela, Gabriela, Miquela, Emiliano, Israel, Milahna, and Santiago. CLEVENGER -- Sally Clevenger, 67, went to heaven on May 11, 2010. Sally was survived by her beloved husband Randall of 46 years; her children, Matthew, Paula, Carol, Michelle, and Keith; her grandchild, Kyra; her brother William Masters and family. COLLINS -- Sean B. Collins, age 40, of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, was taken to Our Lord's Arms on Saturday, May 8, 2010. Sean was employed with Presbyterian Hospital and was currently attending Apollo College, pursuing a degree in nursing. He loved his dog, Paige and had a great love for everyone and will be greatly missed. Sean was preceded in death by his mother, whom he dearly loved, Faith Joy Upshaw; his grandmother, Eleanor Heidel and by his sister-in-law, Nina Arguello. DALBY -- Walter J. Dalby, went to meet with our Lord on Saturday, May 8, 2010, after a long illness. Walter was born in Temple, TX, July 22, 1926 to Walter and Florence Dalby. He graduated from Albuquerque High School May 21, 1943. Walter served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. He married Alta Arlene Premer on June 3, 1949. She passed away October 30, 1970. Walter received his B.S.M.E. degree from the UNM, July 5, 1950 and worked at Sandia National Laboratories as a Mechanical Design Engineer, 1950 to 1956 and 1958 to 2001. He worked at Phillips Petroleum in Idaho Falls, ID, from 1956 to 1958. Walter married Bernice J. Casey on May 16, 1987. He is survived by his wife, Bernice; brother, William Joseph Head and wife, Mary; son, John F. Dalby of Flagstaff, AZ; daughter, Karyn A. Reid and husband, Gary of Rico, CO; son, Michael W. Dalby and wife, Vicky of Albuquerque; one granddaughter; several stepchildren; step-grandchildren; and a niece and nephew. The family will be forever grateful for the professional, tender, and loving care he received from the doctors, nurses, and other professionals at UNM Hospital. A rosary will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010, 6:00 p.m., at French, Lomas Blvd. Chapel. DUGAN -- Dr. Robert Perry Jr., age 78, went to be with the Lord on May 4, 2010. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Lynne; his son Bob III and wife Alisa and kids Robby IV and Bailey of Albuquerque; daughter Cheri and husband Ted Rifkin and kids Riley and TJ of Durango, CO; sisters Carol and husband Ross Rhoads of Charlotte, NC and Connie and husband Dave Voss of Laguna Niguel, CA; and many nephews and nieces. Bob moved here eight months ago from Palm Desert, CA with Lynne to be nearer his family. He devoted his life to the service of Jesus Christ at the early age of seven. Bob graduated with honors from Wheaton College, and then Fuller Seminary in CA. His first church was in Rochester, NH from 1959-63, then Elmhurst, IL from 1963-70, Denver, CO from 1970-78. He ran for U.S. Congress in 1976, then became Director of Public Affairs and V.P. for National Assn. of Evangelicals in Washington, D.C. from 1978-2000. He counseled with every President from Carter to Clinton as the Champion for Christian Causes in America. He was a hero to his bon Bob III and grandson Robby IV as they share his name and destiny. We all loved him and miss him so much, but know his homecoming in Heaven is a brilliant glory in Christ. A Memorial celebration will be held at Calvary Chapel in the Hub, 4001 Osuna NE on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 12:00 noon.

FRESQUEZ HERNANDEZ -- Pauline Ruth Fresquez Hernandez born March 2, 1928 passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 10th, 2010. Pauline is survived by her companion, Joe Trujillo; her daughters, Charlene Hernandez, Maggie Ochoa and husband, Efren, Theresa Samaniego and husband, Manuel, and Martha Hernandez; her sons, Art Hernandez and wife, Rita, James Hernandez and wife, Theresa; her grandson whom she raised, Ernie Garcia; special granddaughters, Ruby Garcia and Tina Romero; her five sisters who reside in California; nephew, Richard Fresquez; and sister-in-law, Helen Aragon. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hernandez; her sons, Paul and Melvin Hernandez; her mother, Ester Dominguez; mother-in- law, Miquela Hernandez; and grandson, Steven Garcia. Pauline's legacy continues for five generations through grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She loved to sew, plant flowers, and her kitty Buggie. HETSCHEL -- Al Hetschel, resident of Albuquerque since 1958 (with a few exceptions thanks to Uncle Sam) died May 12, 2010. Al was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on March 7, 1928 to Albert E. and Wilma Hetschel. He went on to be an Eagle Scout with two Palms. Al joined the United States Air Force in 1946. In 1952, while stationed in New York, he met Sara Thomas. Al needed special permission to date Sara as she was a 1st Lt. in the Air Force Nurse Corp. They married in 1953. They welcomed Jeff into their family in 1958. Al was then stationed in Alaska and then Sacramento, California. Al retired from the Air Force in 1967 and took up full time residence in the NE Heights. Al would later say he loved every day in the Air Force. He worked for the US Postal Service from 1973 to 1990. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a proud member the Loco Patrol of the Shrine. After Sara's passing on November 12, 2004, he lived at the Woodmark in Uptown Albuquerque where he made many friends including one Ms. Virgie Pace whom brought much joy into Al's life. Al's best friend was Mr. Maurice Bryd who he had lunch with at a Furrs restaurant weekly for nearly 31 years. Chaplain Jeff Hetschel will conduct services at Woodmark Assistant Living, 7201 Prospect Pl. NE on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Al is survived by the Hetschel family of California: Jeff, Debbie, (Mission Viejo) Dan (Portland), Nicole (a nurse in Los Angeles, like her Grandma) and Alyssa (sophomore at Azusa Pacific University). JONES -- Richard H. Jones went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 3, 2010. He was surrounded by loved ones at his passing. Richard was preceded in death by his father, Henry B. Jones. He is survived by his other, Charlotte B. Jones; three brothers, Allan L. Jones of Hayward, CA., Robert B. Jones and Bruce G. Jones both of Albuquerque; and one sister, Carol J. Palmer, also of Albuquerque. Richard left behind one daughter, Tracy Velasquez; two step-children, Kevin Bruno of Albuquerque and Lisa Romero of Phoenix, AZ. Richard had seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three nephews, and one niece. Richard was a native of New Mexico and had owned a custom cabinet shop here. He had numerous friends, both in NM and AZ. A private memorial will be held on May 15, 2010 at the home of Richard's sister. KOLMAN -- Steven Neil Kolman We are thankful to have had Steve Kolman with us from November 24, 1956 to May 3, 2010. He always had a bright smile with great dimples and a twinkle in his eye and we loved him dearly. He was an Air Force brat, a biker and a computer geek and had a MA Degree in Organizational Learning and Instructional Technologies from UNM where he earned a 3.5 GPA. He graduated from the American Motorcycle Institute in Daytona FL., the School of Ministry, the Servant Shepard School and was licensed to minister the Gosple. He was a visiting pastor for churches in the Valdosta GA area and his fervent prayer was that others know the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He was a member of the Sports Car Club of America and a fan of motor car racing. He hung his hat in many places but called Albq. home for most of his life and worked for the US Forest Service in Computer Technical Support as an Informational Technology Specialist. He is survived by his mother Geraldine (Jeri) Kolman; brother Sam Kolman; sister Shelley Smith and husband Patrick Smith; nieces, Emily Smith, and Ellen Smith; and nephew Neil Smith. His father C. Neil Kolman preceded him in death. His nickname was Tigger because he was truly the only one. LANIER -- Helen Peters Lanier, 98, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 at her home. She was born, February 26, 1912 in Texarkana, Texas the daughter of William and Gertrude Nash Peters. She received her Bachelor's degree from Texas Wesleyan College in Ft. Worth, Texas. Helen married Henry Spurgeon Lanier, June 5, 1938 in Texarkana, Texas. Helen taught second grade in Texarkana and after moving to New Mexico, she taught on Isleta Pueblo. She retired from teaching when her daughter was born. Survivors include her husband, Spurgeon of Albuquerque; one daughter, Barbara Jean Lanier of Albuquerque; and two nephews, Eddie (Pat) Peters, Texarkana, Texas and Lynn (Lee) Peters of Kingsville, TX. She was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Peters. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 15, 2010, 11:00 a.m., at Central United Methodist Church, 1615 Copper NE. MACEACHEN -- Michael A. MacEachen passed away May 8, 2010, at 82 in Largo, Florida. Mike was born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, Canada on February 6, 1928 to Michael Patrick and Corinne MacEachen (Deceased). Michael served in the United States Air Force for twenty-seven years and was honorably discharged holding the rank of Chief Warrant Officer with many honors and commendations. He proudly served all over the world with stops in Germany, Turkey, Greece, Holland and Vietnam. Mike loved the water, playing golf, bowling, and fishing. Mike was a member of the Knights of Columbus and truly enjoyed any social situation and being with family and friends. Mike is survived by his wife, Ginny; past wife and mother of his children, Shirley; sons, Michael Jr. and his wife Linda, Daniel and his wife Monica, Timothy and his wife Susan; and nine grandchildren. Funeral arrangements in Florida, where he will be interred with full military honors, are pending.

Mrs. McClain was born on October 7, 1946 to Robert W. and Dorothy L. (Allen) Green of Des Moines, IA. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Cathedral and its choir. In her twenties, Mrs. McClain was a member of the USO. She was a financial advisor for Ameriprise and in her spare time, she enjoyed scrapbooking and volunteering for many organizations. Mrs. McClain is survived by her husband of 23 years, Harris R. McClain, of Albuquerque, NM; a daughter, Jennifer M. Gray of McAllen, TX; a son, Matthew R. She is survived by her husband, Dick Pearson of Albuquerque; children, Sheldon Rosentreader of Albuquerque, Shellie Barbosa of Longmont, CO, Deanna Swallow of Fort Collins, CO; stepchildren, Ronald Pearson and Richard Pearson of Foxboro, MA; grandchildren, Kandice Gonzales of Walden, CO, Tylor Boyd of Walden, CO and three step-grandchildren of Foxboro, MA; brothers and sisters, Chuck Blake of Wisconsin, Jackie Blake of Michigan, Carol Young of West Virginia, Nancy Thompson of West Virginia, Albert Blake of Texas, Vera Thompson of West Virginia, Randy Blake of West Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Pearson was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence of Flat Top, WV, her mother, Lena of Flat Top, WV, her brother, Dana of Florida, and her brother, Kenny of Nebraska. RIVERA -- Robert L. Rivera died on May 6, 2010. He was born the third of five children to Manuel and Vina Rivera of Old Town, Albuquerque. He graduated from Valley High School in 1966; moved to Los Angeles, California where he worked as an engineer's aid at the California Highway Department. He married and had a son named Marc Anthony Rivera. Robert returned to New Mexico with his son Marc and attended UNM. He moved back to California, enrolled and graduated from the University of California at Irvine in 1975. That year he created pre-school curricula, wrote and published children's books at La Escuelita in Oakland, California. He enrolled at the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), and in 1978, he graduated with his law degree and moved back to New Mexico. He served as a New Mexico Supreme Court clerk for Justice Dan Sosa and became a member of the New Mexico Bar. He worked as an associate attorney for the Bigbee Law Firm in Santa Fe, and later he practiced law with Ernest Valdez and as a solo practioner in Santa Fe and northern New Mexico. He also served as the executive director for the NM Mining Association. Robert loved politics. He was elected chair of the Santa Fe County Democratic Party; he also served as a member of the Democratic National Committee. Most of his professional life was spent lobbying and writing on matters of public policy and regulatory issues in Santa Fe. He had a keen mind, an infectious laugh and a great sense of humor. He is survived by his son Marc; longtime friend, Yvonne Sanchez and her daughters; siblings Charlotte Walton, Geraldine Rivera, Beatriz Rivera, and David Rivera. Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel at Mount Calvary Cemetery at 1900 Edith Blvd., NE on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place immediately thereafter.

RUIZ -- Mr. Leopoldo Ruiz, 82, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2010. He was born in Las Vegas, NM on May 2, 1928 to Mariano and Lupita Ruiz and was the oldest of ten children. Mr. Ruiz was preceded in death by his loving wife Mauricia "Maureen" Ruiz and his son Russell Ruiz. He is survived by his children; Steve Ruiz, Rebecca Dyble and Genova Herrera and family in San Jose, CA. He is also survived by his remaining siblings; Salvador Ruiz and wife Lydia, Della Adams, Fredelina "Freddie" Palza and husband Mario, Helen Angel and husband Alfonso, Lydia Ruiz, Eloy Ruiz and wife Maria and Laida Martinez; as well as his grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family. Mr. Ruiz was a disabled veteran (active member of the VFW) who served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a barber for most of his early life, enjoyed fishing and tending to his garden and raising his own green chili which he gave to neighbors, friends and family. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and was a kind, loving and tender man. We will miss him very much! A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, May 14, 2010 at Holy Family Church, 562 Atrisco SW. A reception will follow immediately after the Mass in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Interment will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.

SMITH -- Myrl F. Smith, 97 years old, a resident of Albuquerque since 1957, changed his residence to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 8, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ellen U. Smith; his son, John R. Smith and wife, Janet of Bosque Farms, NM; grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, and Sierra; and great-grandchild, Christopher. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Myrn and Elwood; and his son, Peter Smith. Myrl was born in Belding, Michigan, attended Belding High School, and was enrolled two years at the Michigan College of Mining and Technology. In 1934, he received a Senatorial Appointment to the West Point Military Academy where he played football and baseball, and graduated in 1938. During his army career he served through WWII in Panama and Japan, and retired with the rank of Colonel in 1947. He briefly owned a sporting goods business before choosing to return to work for the government in the Test Division of the Atomic Energy Commission. He retired in 1972 to spend time with his family and friends, fishing, boating and camping. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 14, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship Christian Reformed Church, 4800 Indian School Rd, NE with Pastor John Dykhuis officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. STEVENSON -- Martin J. Stevenson PhD, passed from this life May 1, 2010. "Marty" as he preferred to be called, was a true friend to everyone, and always had a kind word for all. A 20 year resident of Albuquerque, Marty was born June 10, 1945 in Syracuse, NY to Frederick and Florence Stevenson. He graduated from Syracuse University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University in 1972. He started his career at AT&T Bell Laboratories, with 19 years service at Sandia National Laboratories. He was the beloved husband of Paulette (Crawford) Stevenson for 28 years. Marty was the father of two sons, David Stevenson, wife Guenn, with three children, of Florida; and Randy Stevenson, wife Ann, with two children, of California. Marty will forever be remembered by his in-laws, Jay and Brenda Denney, daughter Melissa, and James and Lyn Crawford, son James, all of Indiana. He will be missed by countless other friends who were fortunate enough to know him. He was an avid sailor, and cherished his 34 foot Hunter Sailboat, "Windependent". He and his sailing friends spent many happy days sailing and racing at Elephant Butte Lake. Marty loved to travel with Paulette, read, have fun with friends and relatives and most of all spend time enjoying life. Marty touched the lives of many with his smile and generosity, and his gentle nature will be missed. TRUJILLO -- Delfina N. Trujillo, age 90, a resident of Albuquerque passed away peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2010. Delfina is survived by her sister, Mary DeLillo; son, Donald Trujillo, and daughter-in-law, Jane Trujillo; grandson, Rodney Trujillo; granddaughter, Stephanie Shrader; great-granddaughter, Sabrina Shrader; niece, Debra Caudle; and nephews, Michael DeLillo and family and Richard DeLillo and family. She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Jack Trujillo. Delfina was a very religious person, who put great faith in St. Jude, her patron saint. ZIMMERMAN -- Betty Jean Zimmerman, a resident of Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Edgewood, New Mexico since 1954, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 on her 78th birthday. She is survived by her brother, Homer Lee Knearl and wife Katherine of Okatie, South Carolina; her children, Laura Marie Turberville and husband David from Edgewood, New Mexico and J. Kyle Zimmerman and wife Joella of Los Alamos, New Mexico; grandchildren, Christal Hambly, Diana Brown, Regina Turberville, Aaron Turberville, Michael Zimmerman, and Paul Zimmerman; and ten great grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Inez Knearl of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Betty was born in Kansas on May 9, 1932. Betty's father worked for the Texaco Oil Company which caused her family to move around the mid-west states. She attended High School in Wichita, Kansas, where she met her husband to be John Cone Zimmerman. After they were married, John and Betty moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where they raised their family and John worked for Sandia National Laboratory. After her divorce in 1974, Betty went back to school to learn word processing. She was a legal secretary for a short time, but later was hired as an office manager for a civil engineering firm, Gordon Herkenoff and Associates, now WHPacific, Inc. After 25 years, Betty retired, bought a motor home and traveled. She always enjoyed being by mountains and lakes. Her favorite spot was the Grand Tetons Mountains in Wyoming. A Memorial service will be held at the French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd Chapel just east of Eubank, on Friday, May 14, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a reception at that location following the service.
