BROCK -- Frances S. Brock, 101, died May 6, 2010. She was born near Washington, Pennsylvania on September 2, 1908. She was a secondary math teacher in both Pennsylvania and Idaho before moving to Albuquerque in 1992 to be near her daughter Susan Hunt and her husband Ken. She was a long-time resident of the La Vida Llena Retirement Community. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; and by six brothers; and three sisters. A memorial service is pending and will be held at La Vida Llena on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the La Vida Llena Employee Appreciation Fund (10501 Lagrima de Oro NE, Albuquerque. NM 87111) in recognition of the outstanding care provided during her years of residency, to the Leslie Van Horn and Frances S. CARTY -- Charles Carty passed away peacefully on May 4, 2010 at 88 years of age, after living a very full life. Charles proudly served as a Navy pilot in WWII, while stationed in the South Pacific. He later worked for Ford Motor Company for more than 30 years as an engineer and helped design the original Ford Mustang. After retiring from Ford, Charles enjoyed traveling as a judge in the Antique Automobile Club of America for many years. Charles is survived by his wife, Jean Carty who also served in the military during WWII as a part of the Women's Army Corps. Charles will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren, as well as his many friends. CHAVEZ -- Frank Chavez Jr. born January 17, 1947 in Seboyeta NM. He is survived by his daughter Maria Mora and husband Michael; one son Frankie Chavez III and wife Mary Ann Chavez; his brothers, Herman Chavez and Max Chavez; sister Lydia Gurule and husband Danny; grandsons, Jerome, Jeremy, Gabriel Lucero and Michael Chavez; granddaughters, Alyssa, and Amanda Chavez; two very special children in his life whom he loved very much, Julian Salcido and Angela Salcido. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Crucita; brother Steve Chavez; and grandson Eric Harrison. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. LASCONO -- Jesse Lascono, 85, a resident of Albuquerque for 77 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 with his family by his side. He was born December 30, 1924. Jesse was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Bessie; his only daughter, Mary Louise Gallegos and husband, Charles; two grandchildren, Greg Gallegos and wife, Dolores, Pam Machac and husband, Gerald; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Gallegos, Michael Gallegos, Lauryn Machac, Matthew Machac, and Krystle Machac and fiance, John Griego; great-great-granddaughter, Danika; special nephew, Joe Diaz and wife, Jane; nephews, Frank Chewiwie, Blas Urquidez (who was a special friend and companion to him during his illness); and a very special family friend, Lucy Garcia. Jesse was a World War II Veteran. He served with the 361st Infantry Regiment, 91st "Powder River" Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his heroic achievements in action on the Fifth Army Front Lines during the Italian Campaign. Jesse and two other soldiers made five trips over cover-less, fire-swept terrain to bring up mortar ammunition. Jesse was also awarded the "Combat Infantryman" Badge for action against the enemy in Northern Italy. Jesse was also awarded a Presidential Citation for his dedicated service to his country. Mr. Lascono retired from the US Postal Service. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, Post 13. A rosary will be recited, Sunday, May 9, 2010, 5:00 p.m. at French-University Chapel. Interment will take place, Monday, May 10, 2010, 10:30 a.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery, Santa Fe, New Mexico. MCCORMICK -- Rosemary Starr McCormick, age 87, a resident of Albuquerque and formerly Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, May 05, 2010. Rosemary was born on February 10, 1923 to the late Ernest and Irene (Giannini) Soderlund. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Carl Warren Starr; second husband Frank Leo McCormick; sister, Diane Soderlund; three daughters, Rosemary Starr, Sandra Kroll and Barbara Starr. MOYERS -- William Taylor Moyers, well-known Western artist and a longtime resident of Albuquerque died Monday, May 3, 2010. Bill was a longtime member of Albuquerque's Immanuel Presbyterian Church. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1916, and came to Colorado's San Luis Valley in 1931, growing up on the F. R. Swift ranch north of Alamosa. While in school, he toured the area competing in local rodeos. He graduated from Adams State College in 1939, and then attended art school at the Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles, California. Prior to World War II, Bill was employed by Walt Disney studios as an animator, working on such classic films as "Fantasia". With the outbreak of World War II, Bill served as a US Army Signal Corps captain in the South Pacific and the Philippines. In 1943, he married Neva Anderson, who he met in college, and who was then serving as a US Naval Officer. After the war, Bill and Neva established their home in Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, where Bill began a career as a successful illustrator and author. After a move to Georgia and summers in Colorado, Bill and Neva moved to Albuquerque in 1962 where Bill painted and sculpted western subjects full-time. Over the years, he received numerous awards and recognition for his artwork, beginning with the American Artist award in 1945 for his illustrations for the western novel, The Virginian. He later received numerous awards from the prestigious Cowboy Artists Association, a group for which he served as a longtime member and four-term president. Bill's wife of 63 years, Neva, predeceased him in 2006. He is survived by their four children, Joanne Cotter and her husband, Paul Cotter of Lubbock, Texas; William Moyers, Jr. and his wife, Kimberly Moyers of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Charles Moyers and his wife, Joyce Kolberg of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and John Moyers and his wife, Terri Moyers of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He is also survived by his grandchildren, David Rowland and wife, Robin Rowland of Kansas City, Missouri; Melody Kerr and husband, Dr. David Kerr of Snyder, Texas, Alicia Stevens and her husband, William Pirtle, US Army, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jeffrey Moyers of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Evan Kolberg of Taos, New Mexico, Jared Moyers of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Josh Moyers of Santa Fe, New Mexico and four great grandchildren. Services will be held on Monday, May 10, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at French - University Chapel with Rev. Carl Soderberg officiating. Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico at 2:00 p.m.. MUNZLINGER -- Major Frederick David Munzlinger United States Air Force Ret., 71, of Albuquerque, passed away May 4, 2010 due to complications of leukemia. He was born June 21, 1938 to Karl and Irene Munzlinger. He completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Geophysical Engineering at Tulsa University in 1960 and his Masters of Science Degree in Theoretical Mathematics at Florida State University in 1965. Fred had a distinguished scientific career in both the military and the private business sector. His career focused on research and development and took him all over the world. At one point in his career while working in London England with the European Office of Aerospace Research and Development (E.O.A.R.D.) he was the only U.S. scientist on the European Council of Science. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sara Bard Munzlinger; his four children, David Munzlinger, Kenneth Munzlinger, Diane White and Patricia Edgel; as well as his only granddaughter, Arianne Edgel; and eight grandsons, Jake White, Conner White, Ryan Munzlinger, Ethan Munzlinger, Charles Munzlinger, Owen Munzlinger, Kyle Munzlinger, and Ryan Edgel. Fred was preceded in death by his mother Irene Munzlinger of Las Vegas Nevada. Fred is also survived by his father Karl Munzlinger of Las Vegas Nevada; his two brothers Karl and Walter Munzlinger. Fred was an avid fisherman, and chess player. He enjoyed table tennis, oil painting and playing his violin. His favorite thing to do was watch and cheer during his grandchildren's sporting events and activities. Cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, on May 10, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. with French ~ Wyoming Chapel located at 7121 Wyoming NE presiding over all arrangements. PERRY -- Gary Dale Perry headed for his last roundup on Wednesday, May 5, 2010. To carry on Gary's passion for living life to the fullest is hisdevoted wife, Vannetta of San Antonio; his sons, S/SGT Galen of Aviano Air Force Base, Italy; Dustin of San Antonio; and daughter, Brette also of San Antonio; his loving and devoted parents Glenn and Betty Perry of San Antonio; brother, Larry Perry and wife Michelle of Mountainair, NM; sisters, Charlotte Jones and husband, Wilton of San Antonio; Shanna Allison and husband, Frank of Farmington, NM; and Cheryl Crosley and husband, Randy of Albuquerque, NM; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends. Born May 1, 1951, in Magdalena, NM, Gary lived in Pie Town, Socorro, and near San Antonio. An avid supporter of youth activities in Socorro County, Gary enjoyed watching athletic events, especially when his children were playing. He was president and member of the Socorro County Fair and Rodeo Association for over twenty years. His commitment to community also involved serving as member and chairman of the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District, representing Socorro County for over 15 years. He raised and trained registered Quarter horses and farmed north of San Antonio. An avid outdoorsman and hunter, Gary's favorite activities were best shared with family and friends. His passions of hunting and training horses were inspiring to his children who continue to enjoy these. The graveside service will be held Sunday, May 9, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greer Cemetery in Catron County with Pastor Sam Norris officiating. Pall bearers are Johnny Ray Mounyo, Travis Harris, Billy Jack Pound, Randy McKee, Joe Pound, Gene Harvey, Bob Hudgins, Bill Spears. Honorary pall bearers include Larry Perry, Terry Hudgins, Wilton Jones, Frank Allison, Randy Crosley, Marty Greenwood Fletcher Tigner and Buddy Tigner. To celebrate the life of Gary, a memorial service will be held Monday, May 10, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Kelly Hall, Socorro County Fairgrounds in Socorro NM. To honor Gary, contributions may be made to the NM Boys and Girls Ranches or any charity of choice.
