ALDERETE -- Richard Patrick (Richie/Bubs), 36, passed away comfortably in his sister's home in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 2, 2010. Richard was born March 17, 1974 in Albuquerque. Richie was a great baseball player; loved fishing and was a #1 fan of the Cowboys. A God loving Christian, he is survived by his wife; Tonya Salazar; children, Richard Elias Alderete Jr. (Dude), Michael Garcia (Bubba), Joseph Moreno, Angelo Padilla and Destiny Padilla; His father, Richard Alderete and wife, Dolores; mother, Rita Martinez Walz and husband Daniel; grandparents, Vincent and Virginia Alderete; and grandmother Irene Martinez; his sisters, Rachel Alderete Vargas and husband Omar, and Misty Martinez; His brothers, Ruben Alderete, Brandon Walz and Jordan Walz. ARCHIBEQUE -- Esperidion "Nino" Archibeque, age 88, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, departed this world to meet the Lord Sunday, May 2, 2010. He is survived by his beloved wife Marcella Archibeque; son, David Archibeque and wife Olivia; grandchildren, Mark Archibeque, Deanna Torres and husband Thomas James, and great-granddaughter Donielle (Donie) Torres; and sister Sarah Verrela; all of Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his parents Daniel and Placida Archibeque. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Albuquerque and led an exceptional life in devotion to his family. Mr. Archibeque, a member of the 200th Coast Artillery during WWII, was forced to march for days in the scorching heat through the Philippine jungles (Bataan Death March). Upon completion of this march, he was a prisoner of the Japanese at Cabanatuan Camp No. 1, near Manila, for three years. Upon return to his anxiously awaiting wife Marcella, Nino met his three year old son David for the first time. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for courage and kindness in aiding other sick and wounded Americans. He has been a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend as well as a wonderful role model for his children. He enjoyed watching the UNM Men's Basketball team and was one of their biggest fans. He also loved dogs and had many through out his life. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 412 Stover, Albuquerque, NM, 87110. A mass will be held on Thursday, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. ARCHIBEQUE -- Richard Archibeque, 51, passed away April 29, 2010. He was preceded in death by his dad, Elias. He is survived by his mom, Emily; brothers Steve, David, Daniel, James, John and wife Wilene; and sister Maryann and husband Taihi; daughters Crystal and husband Ted and Malerie; three grandchildren; and dear friends that knew Richard like family. ARMENTA -- Frank Armenta, 80, born in Bloomfield, NM, on December 26, 1929, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, in Westminster, CO. He was a decorated Korean War veteran, loving father, grandfather, uncle, cousin and friend, and a long-time resident of Albuquerque. He is survived by three children, Harold Armenta and wife, Elizabeth of Westminster, CO, Roger Armenta and Gabriel Armenta, both of Albuquerque; six grandchildren, Raynette Armenta-Garcia, Reina Armenta-Conde, Matthew Armenta, Jessica Armenta, and Jesus Armenta; 13 great-grandchildren, Cruz, Camille, Renaissance, Jaylyn, David, Eve, Josh, Angelica, Auriella, Ryanna, Aliyah, Mario, and Francisco; two sisters, Benita Gonzales and Maria "Dubie" Serna; and brother, Estevan "Eddie" Armenta. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Maria Delfina Armenta; wife Oliva Armenta; brothers Rumaldo and Harold; grandchild Melissa Armenta-Sechrist; and great-granddaughter Reies Armenta-Conde. COOK -- Phyllis Marie Cook passed away peacefully at home on Friday April 30. Phyllis was born February 28, 1933 in Liberal Kansas. A resident of Albuquerque since 1958, Phyllis loved to fish, cook, and go to the casino. She is survived by her six children, son Vincent Eakes and wife Terri; son James Eakes and life partner Erma Lopez; daughters, Katherine Barela and husban Tony, Anita Eakes, Frances DiCarlo and husban Vinnie, Christine Francia and husband Richard. Phyllis was grandmother of 20 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Cremation has already taken place. DOYLE -- Marvin Doyle, 75, long time resident of Albuquerque, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, May 3, 2010. He is survived by Dorothy, his loving and devoted wife of 57 years; children, James Doyle and wife Teresa, Victoria Shirkey and husband Paul, David Doyle, and Martha Luhrs and husband Christopher; nephew, Mitchell Doyle and wife Angie; many grandchildren; and great - grandchildren; and his sister Marion Martin. There is no way to adequately describe his life as his loving generosity touched so many lives. He loved everyone unconditionally, and in turn was loved by all. Cremation has taken place. GRIEGO -- Celestino Griego Sr. of Albuquerque, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on May 4, 2010. Son of Bernabe and Elena Griego,Celestino was born on February 21, 1921 in Dixon, NM. He was a retired carpenter and worked for the Disabled American Veterans for many years. Celestino was a loving person and always enjoyed making people laugh. Preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 61 years Margaret Alire Griego; his son Johnnie Lee Griego; a sister Alice Griego; two brothers, Manuel and Juan Griego. HOPPER -- Carol N. Hopper, 66, and a resident of Albuquerque, died on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 after courageously living with cancer for 25 years. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth of Albuquerque; two daughters, India Crawford and her husband, Rodney of Crofton, Maryland and Herrin Hopper and her husband, Richard Pournelle of Silver Spring, Maryland; two granddaughters, Christiana Crawford and Ruth Pournelle; two sisters, Julie Edwards of Granite Bay, California and Nancy Newman of Oro Valley, Arizona; two nephews and two nieces. Mrs. Hopper held four degrees, including a Ph.D. from Michigan State University. After a brief tenure in higher education, she worked for Exxon Corporation for six years, followed by a career as a labor/management consultant for major corporations and smaller companies throughout the United States. The Hoppers moved to Albuquerque in April 2008, to broaden their deep appreciation for Hispanic and Native American cultures. Mrs. Hopper was the President of the Board of Directors of Chatter, A Chamber Ensemble, which performs 20th and 21st century music; a former board member of Chamber Music Albuquerque; and a volunteer for the YWCA. Memorial services on the East Coast and in Albuquerque are being planned. LEWIS -- Floyd E. Lewis, 97, a resident of Albuquerque since 1947, died Monday, May 3, 2010. He is survived by his seven children, Jean M. Conner and husband, Roy of Albuquerque, Grace Lewis of Albuquerque, Michael Lewis of Albuquerque, Linda Olson and husband, Craig of Corrales, David Lewis and wife, Kay Schumacher of Albuquerque, Deborah Knauber and husband, Lee of Albuquerque, and Stephen Lewis of Durango, CO; grandchildren, Christopher Freed, Francisco Sedillo and wife, Audra, Michelle Sedillo and husband, James Vallejos, Kyle Lewis, Catie Knauber, Evelyn Lewis, and Weston Lewis; 8 great-grandchildren, Joseph Freed, Crystal Freed, Devon Vallejos, Cameron Vallejos, Jalen Vallejos, Mari Vallejos, Samantha Sedillo and Quinn Sedillo; two great-great-grandchildren, Joel Freed and Joshua Freed; and numerous other relatives and friends. Floyd was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Lizzie Lewis; his wife, Evelyn Lewis; grandson, James Freed; sister, Virginia Rick; and brother, Ted Lewis. He was born on October 13, 1912 in Perkaise, PA and raised on a farm in Bucks County. As a teen, on three separate occasions, Floyd saved two men, a woman and a dog from drowning. He married Evelyn Newman on February 12, 1938 and they owned several businesses including a children's clothing store, a grocery store, a bakery, two motels, The Aztec Motel and The Tower Motel, and two apartment complexes. Floyd was a self-made man who taught his family the values of honesty, hard work and having a sense of humor. He was a long-time member of The Shrine of St. Bernadette. Floyd enjoyed playing chess and cards and taught his children how to play chess, tennis and pinochle. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and great-grandfather and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at French Lomas Chapel Thursday, May 6, 2010, 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the funeral home. MCGUIRE -- Bessie C. McGuire Passed away in an Albuquerque nursing home on May 2, 2010, after a lengthy illness. Born May 14, 1918 in Dawson, NM., Bessie Nelson was preceded in death by her husband George after 55 years of marriage. She is survived by daughter Georgia Schulte and husband Robert of Albuquerque; son, Charles (Chuck) McGuire and wife Jennifer of Raton, grandson Brian Schulte and wife Melissa of Austin, Texas and their children, Connor, Cayden, Lynleigh and Kambrie, and grandson Clint McGuire of Indiana; and his two children; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was reared in Aguilar, Colo., and later resided in Trinidad. Before moving to Albuquerque in 2006, she was a resident of Santa Fe for 25 years. Prior to that she made her home in Raton, NM, where she raised her family and worked as a telephone operator until she retired in 1977 with 28 years of service. Bessie was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Bessie was a quiet humble person who enjoyed life with her husband and family. The family would like to thank the multitude of care givers who helped with Bessie's comfort during the last four years. MULLINS -- LAWRENCE MULLINS, 88, a resident of Rio Rancho and formerly of Los Alamos, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Ruth; daughter, Kathie Mullins Stroh; son-in-law, Bill Petty; brothers, Dennis and Raymond; and sister, Anne. Larry graduated from Queens College in New York City in May 1943 and immediately joined the Navy to serve the South Pacific on the destroyer U.S.S. Caldwell. In May 1957, he received his PhD from the University of New Mexico. Larry worked for LANL from 1946 to 1984; then from 1984 - 1994 as a consultant for Trueco. He received the 1988 Glenn T. Seaborg award for his expertise in Plutonium. Mr. Mullins is survived by his daughters, Betty Anne Pacheco of Albuquerque, Shelli Mullins Petty of Los Alamos and Dottie Mullins of Santa Fe; brother, Vincent Mullins and wife Barbara; grandchildren, Major Steve Pacheco and wife Jenny of Hawaii, Denise Stroh Fuqua and husband Brandon of Lovington, Delores Stroh Scharf and husband Justin of Monahan, TX, Mike Pacheco and wife Adrienne of San Diego, CA, Melanie Petty Romero of Los Alamos, Rob Pacheco and wife Ashley and Richie Petty all of Albuquerque; and eight great-grandchildren. MURPHY -- Lois LaDoris Murphy (Deison), 44, of Plano, Texas was welcomed home by her Lord and Savior Jesus on Friday, April 30, 2010 after a long battle with Lupus. She was born in Albuquerque NM. Lois was a devoted, loving wife and a stay-at-home-Kool-Aid Mom. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. She is survived by her caring husband of 19 years Thomas (Tom); children, Lewis Earl 17, Robert Patrick 15; parents, Lewis and Juanita (Janie) Deison; sisters, Patsy Black, Brenda Kijowski and husband Larry; nieces Sonja Boucher and daughter Hayley, Alexis Kijowski and daughter Amelia; nephew Garrett Kijowski. Thank you to the many friends and prayer partners from Calvary Chapel-Dallas. We would like to say a special thank you to Pastor Eric Coburn and his wife Shanessa and Pastor Guy Seaman for their beautiful display of support during her illness. RATHGEBER SCHWARTZMAN -- Gertrude (Gertie) passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2010. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque. Gertie was born in Albuquerque in 1922. She was preceeded in death by both of her husbands Alfred L. Schwartzman and William D. Rathgeber; her son Alfred Schwartzman Jr.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James R. Dotson; her granddaughter Lesley Garringer; her sisters, Dorothy Magatagan and Mabel Baggett; her brothers, James Ralph Dotson Jr. and William S. Dotson. She is survived by her son Gary Schwartzman and his wife Sherrell; her brother Phillip P. Dotson and wife Marilyn of Ponca City, Oklahoma; her step-sons and step-daughter Lt. Col. William Rathgeber (Ret) and wife Cathy, and Col. David Rathgeber (Ret) and his wife Insuk, Col. Susan Voveris (Ret) and husband Lt. Col B.J. Voveris. (Ret); She is also survived her grandchildren, Maj. J. Charles Schwartzman (Ret) and wife Geri, Amy Schwartzman Nolker and husband Don, Maryjanet Carrasco and husband Chris; She also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces, nephews and other family members. Gertie was active in many organizations: Daughters of the Nile, Eastern Star, past member of the Albuquerque Assistance League, she was on the boards of Christina Kent Nursery and All Faiths Receiving Home. She was a member of the Albuquerque Country Club, Nine Hole Golfers, and lifelong member of United Central Methodist Church. She was an outstanding homemaker, wonderful cook and loved to travel with her Husbands. SHELTON -- Brooke Nicole Shelton of Edgewood, NM, went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 4, 2010 at the age of 28. Brooke was born in Ruidoso, NM, on October 5, 1981, attended La Cueva High School, received a teaching degree from UNM and married the love of her life, Jason Shelton. Brooke was a faithful servant to her Lord Jesus Christ and was a blessing to all who knew her. She was a wonderful wife and an awesome mother. Brooke home-schooled her children and taught them to love the Lord. Her enjoyment for life and beautiful smile was contagious. Brooke's strength, courage, and determination were an amazing example of a life lived through Christ. She will be greatly missed, but her spirit will live on through her four beautiful children. We know Brooke is smiling over us and she is forever in our hearts, until we meet her again. Brooke is survived by her husband, Jason; her children, Mariah, Savannah, JJ, and Allison; her mother and stepfather Donna and Matt Blinn; her father, Steve Williams; brothers, John and Matthew; sister, Jordan; grandparents, Nita Burke and Dave and Charlotte Williams along with numerous aunts, uncles, and extended family members. SITGREAVES -- Russell E. Sitgreaves, 80, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away, Monday, May 3, 2010 at his home. He was born February 19, 1930, son of Eugene J. and Mary Owen Sitgreaves. He married Yolanda C. Akin, May 24, 1986 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Survivors include, loving wife of Albuquerque; two devoted daughters; Yolanda Byrne, Yukon, OK; Beverly Akin, Albuquerque; two granddaughters; Kelsey Byrne and Shannon Byrne. Also surviving are dear friends, Jim and Jody MacGillivray. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael; two brothers; and one sister, Warren Sitgreaves, Howard Sitgreaves; and Nettie Sitgreaves. SOTELO SOTO -- Juan Sotelo-Soto, 65, loving, father, and grandfather, a resident of Albuquerque, NM since 1986, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday April 28, 2010. Juan was born June 24, 1944 in Armendariz, Mexico. Juan was preceded in death by his father Andres Sotelo Perez and mother Catarina Soto-Olguin. Juan is survived by his loving children, Sofia Arias, Manuela Gracia, Carmen Delia Gracia, Marisela Gracia, Lizeth Gracia, Reyes Sotelo, Maria Sotelo, Beatriz Sotelo and Juan C. Sotelo; two brothers; and three sisters; 21 grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; and numerous friends and family. Juan was known for his love of music. Juan was a member of Holy Family Church Choir and a member of a Mariachi band. Juan enjoyed boxing. Juan will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. A Rosary will be recited Friday, May 7, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 526 Atrisco Drive SW. SOVERANEZ -- Donald George Soveranez June 18, 1954-May 2, 2010. Donald George Soveranez, 55, of Albuquerque, went to be with his heavenly father on Sunday, May 2, 2010. He was born June 18, 1954 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Donald was preceeded in death by his mother Tillie Soveranez; maternal mother Betty Jean; and father George Soveranez. He is survived by his twin brother Ronnie Soveranez (Angie); brothers, Oswaldo (Josephine), Elias, Robert; sister Jospehine; aunts, Bennie Naquin, Christine McLean (Bob); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and Partner of twenty-three years Ron Montoya. Don was a caring and loving person who was always there for anyone, anytime. He loved spending time with family and friends. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place. Mass services will be at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 1800 Martha N.E., off of Indian School RD, in Albuquerque, on Saturday , May 8, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. Reception to follow at parish hall.

STERCHI -- Louise Larson Sterchi, 84, passed away May 1, 2010. Born in Tucson, AZ, on September 27, 1925, she grew up in Silver City, NM, and was a resident of Albuquerque since 1965. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; and sister Ruth Merz. She is survived by her daughter Arline Worsham and her husband John of Houston, TX; her son Ken Sterchi of Las Vegas, NV; her daughter Margaret Sterchi of Blackwood, NJ; her son William Sterchi and his wife Rose of Albuquerque; her son Robert Sterchi and his wife Jule of Ruidoso; and granddaughters Anna Worsham of Fayetteville, AR and Shannon Eghlimi and her husband Cameron of Phoenix, AZ and their sons Sean and Ryan; she is also survived by her sister Inez Candiello; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her gracious, kind nature, her unflagging, positive outlook and of course, her radiant, joyful smile were lifelong gestures of love to her family, her friends and indeed everyone she ever met. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010, 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 601 Montano Road NW in Albuquerque. WINTERMUTE -- Dorothy Ann, 79, completed her earthly journey on April 30, 2010. Our beloved Mom, Lady, Ms. Dorothy, Auntie Doe, Grammie, Aunt Dot, "Gaga" was born October 4, 1930 in Denver, CO, to Roy and Mary Beard Riedl. She is survived by her children, David Wintermute and wife Margi, Leta Babb and husband Mike Ondrik, Richard Wintermute, Barbara Wintermute, Timothy Wintermute and wife Pamela, Jeanne Oselio and husband Mike and "adopted" son, James Lueras. Her husband of 52 years, Forest "Gene" Wintermute; and their son, Jimmy Wintermute, preceded her in death as well as six sisters; and three brothers. She had 15 grandchildren, Melissa Covel and husband Troy, Joshua Wintermute and wife Rachael, Samantha Wintermute, Jason Babb, Amy Steinberg and husband Marc, David Ondrik and wife Becky, Rylan Pyy, Chas Dyer and husband Wes, Stephanie Wintermute, Marshall Wintermute, Tiffany Medford and husband Ryan and Cherise Oselio; nine great-grandchildren, Jayson, Ryanne, Ronnie, Christian, Jadon, Landon, Jacob, Nolen and Genesis. She was also survived by her brother Ron Riedl and wife Gloria, Mike Riedl and wife Kelly, Sharon Mitchell and husband Mitch, sisters Linda and Shan and Uncle Willard. She has many nieces and nephews and a large extended family of friends. She was a member of Believers Center of Albuquerque since 1981. Dorothy deeply loved her family and friends and most of all, her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a great servant of the Lord, generous, unselfish in every way and loved every person she met; she will be greatly missed. A service celebrating her life will be on Friday, May 7, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Believers Center of Albuquerque, 320 Waterfall SE. Graveside service will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7500 Paseo del Norte NE. The family welcomes friends to a reception at Glory Christian Fellowship, 2417 Wyoming NE, immediately following the graveside service. Pallbearers will be Jason Babb, Josh Wintermute, Richie Wintermute, Jesse Wintermute, Marshall Wintermute, Troy Covel, Marc Steinberg and Ryan Medford. Yazzie, Anthonie L. Yazzie, Terry Yazzie; his daughters, Mary A. Carrasco, Tina M. Bittler; grandchildren Santana and Vicente Carrasco, Antoinette Yazzie and Kyle McCray; his mother Louise Capazoni Yazzie; and two brothers; and six sisters.
