BACA -- Jared Phillip Baca, age 20, resident of Los Lunas, NM, went to join Our Lord on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. He was born in 1989. A gifted computer whiz, Jared loved to compete in action games with his brothers and friends. Jared's gentle spirit and humble demeanor inspired his family and friends. Jared is remembered as a young boy-loving life, the outdoors and playing with his cousins. Jared also loved helping his grandpa Ben, especially riding on the tractor and building things. He was best known for his wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. "Jared will be missed very much, but never forgotten." He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Torres. Jared is survived by his loving mother, Annie Baca-Brooks; step-father, Michael Brooks; brothers, Justin Baca and Steven Baca and fiancee, Theresa Nunez; grandparents, Ben and Margaret Baca, Rick Lane, Frank and Rosie Torres and Bob Brooks; loving aunts and uncles, Rose and Lawrence Quesada, Georgia and George Padilla, Bennie Baca, Leroy and Fran Baca and Debi Dofflemyer; and special brothers, Jude Baldonado and John Thomas. BEAN -- Leonard R. Bean, 91, born in Huntington, MA on February 1, 1919, a World War II veteran who served in action in the European theater, a past resident of Ludlow for 26 years and former proprietor of "The Ludlow Fish Market" for thirty years died on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. Preceding him in death was his wife Ginette. His children and grandchildren have many great memories of time shared with him over the years and Leonard's legacy will live on. He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Baker-Flow and her husband, Richard Flow of Wells, ME, Leonard J. Bean and his wife, Dorothy of Albuquerque, NM, Gregory Bean and wife Tammy of Round Rock, TX, Randall Bean and wife Anita of Townsend, VT and Jeffery Bean of Adrian, MO. BRADSHAW -- Eva Rose Self Best, 98, died in Atria Vista Del Rio Assisted Living, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, April 14, 2010. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Bradshaw Baptist Church with the Reverend Ed Bigham officiating. Burial will be in Bradshaw Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home in Tuscola. Visitation will be 7:00 8:30 p.m. today, Friday, at the funeral home. Eva was born October 30, 1911, in Ovalo, to Millard Filmore and Margaret Jane Coley Self. Eva was the last surviving member of her class at Ovalo High School. She married Wesley W. Best February 15, 1934. The couple lived most of their married life in Bradshaw where they operated a mechanic shop primarily for the repair of farm equipment. They celebrated 61 years of marriage before Wesley's death in 1996. Eva had an extraordinary memory and knew many people in south Taylor and North Runnels counties, how they were related, who married whom, and much about their lives through several generations. During the late stages of the Great Depression and World War II, Eva taught many folks how to can and preserve food. She and Wesley almost always had a garden. Wesley often remarked that you didn't have to pay income tax on food you grew. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one sister, Wilma Dee Wilder; and a brother, Hilbin (Slim) Self. Survivors include two daughters, Zilla Rose Best Partee of Big Spring and Norma Faye Best Morgan and husband Jerry of Boulder City, Nevada and Los Alamos, New Mexico; and one sister, Beatrice Childers of Abilene. Survivors also include the following descendants: grandchild, Mariam E. Morgan-Smith and husband Dennis and their daughters, Lauren Faye Morgan-Smith, and their granddaughters, Hannah and Sarah, and a grandson, Wesley; grandchild, Jenica Marie Morgan-Smith-Cline and husband Andrew and their granddaughter, Margaret and grandson, Oliver, all of Albuquerque, and grandchildren Merik Morgan of Bozman, Montana, and Marsh Morgan and wife Sarah of Los Alamos; grandson Devin Partee and wife Judy of Abilene, and their children, Terry Barber and wife Kerri of San Antonio, Bobby Barber and wife Vicki of White Oak, Bo and Jasmine, and Crystal Barber of Dallas; Stephanie Brown and husband Luke of Abilene, their grandchildren Tara, Matthew, Izabella, Ashley Partee, also of Abilene, and Rose M. Partee of San Antonio; grandson Richard Partee and wife Sidney and their six children of Breckenridge; Becky Kennedy and her two sons, Chris and Anthony, and her three granddaughters; Tommy Partee and his three daughters, one granddaughter and one grandson; Pat Vanover and her daughter, son, two granddaughters, and two grandsons, and one great-grandson; and Jeanette Ross and her daughter, son, and six grandsons; and several other relatives.

DAY -- Terry Day, 47, a resident of Cedar Crest, died April 10, 2010. He is survived by wife Patty; children Jody and Travis; parents Morris and Sue Day; sisters Nancy Estrada; Cindy and husband Mitch Zamparello; Sherry and husband Greg Piraino; brother John and wife Tammy Day; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. HOFFMAN -- Pat Linda Hoffman, age 56, a longtime resident of New Mexico, went to be with the Lord Monday, April 12, 2010. She is survived by her husband, Brian Hoffman; children, Destiny Hoffman, Matthias Hoffman and wife Tori, Sarah Hoffman, Nathanael Hoffman and wife Amber; grandchildren, Emma, Elisha, Mia, and Eleanore. Pat was an adoring wife, mother, and grandmother. She had a loving heart for special needs children and taught them the love of Christ. Pat was a professional photographer who dedicated herself to capturing the most romantic moments of life. She will be dearly missed by all and was the love of her husband's life. LOFTIN -- Ashley D. Loftin, 96, resident of Albuquerque, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Loneta; his son, Steven Loftin and wife Margie; granddaughters, Sandra Loftin, Lisa Inagawa and husband Jamie; Ariel Bedell and husband Adam; and Josephine Lewis and her husband Robert; brother Frank Loftin; and five great - grandchildren. Ashley was preceded in death by his son, Jim Lee Loftin; his sister, Jayne Ford; and his brother, Vernon Loftin. Ashley was born in Tulia, TX, where he grew up until leaving to enter Texas Tech University. He earned a degree in electrical engineering in 1937. He joined the U.S. Army and served with the U.S. Army Signal Corp during the war and continued to serve in the reserve until he retired with the rank of Lt. Col. In 1946, Ashley formed his company, A.D. Loftin and Associates, specializing in electrical power transmission and distribution, serving rural electrical cooperatives throughout the southwest. After retiring in 1984, he enjoyed all kinds of fishing, including deep sea, lake, stream, and ice. He also spent time gardening, tracing his family tree online and became active in the SAR (Sons of the American Revolution). He volunteered at the special collections library and public school. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at Marietta National Cemetery in Marietta, GA where a family memorial will be held at a later date. MCNULTY -- Marilyn McNulty, 79, a resident of Albuquerque since 1980, passed April 12, 2010. She is survived by her five children, Patrick McNulty and wife Deanna of Las Vegas NV, Kathleen Steichen and husband Craig of Albuquerque, Karen McNulty of Albuquerque, Kimberly McNulty of Albuquerque and Timothy McNulty and wife Angela of Newnan GA; grandchildren, Patrick McNulty, Logan Dixon and Harrison McNulty of Las Vegas NV, Sheena Hamilton and husband Gage, Hailey and Matthew Steichen of Albuquerque, Garrett McNulty-Sikkink of Albuquerque, Jenna and Kendall McNulty-Evans of Albuquerque, and Sean McNulty of Newnan GA; and sister Susan Miller of Las Cruces. Marilyn was a Parishoner of John XXIII Catholic Church. She was born in Jackson MI, June 15, 1930. Marilyn joined the USAF in August 1952, as a flight nurse; honorably discharged in 1959, as Captain. She married her late husband, Leo McNulty in October 18, 1958 and together they raised their five children. The Air Force stationed them in Illinois, France, New Mexico, Texas, Minnesota, Turkey, and Florida. She returned to New Mexico in 1980. Marilyn retired from the VA Hospital in Albuquerque, completing a 40 year career as a Registered Nurse. Marilyn was a loving, devoted and active mother and grandmother. She was active in her church, a caring neighbor, and award winning pie baker. Her unique and great sense of humor remained with her to the end. MYERS -- Evelyn Myers, 88, expired April 10, 2010. Her funeral service will be held at Gate of Heaven Mausoleum on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 1:00 pm. She is survived by her brother Bill Ehret; son Larry and friend Sandra; granddaughters Evelyn O'Neill and husband Jack, Monika Husson and husband Todd; one great granddaughter and four great grandsons. She came to NM in 1951 with husband Larry and son, and lived on the Long Horn Ranch in Moriarty until it was sold in 1956. She then moved to Albuquerque and worked downtown for 17 years as Deputy Clerk for the Federal Court. We love her and will miss her.

ORTEGA -- Joshua George Ortega, 24, born July 2, 1985, went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2010. Joshua was very devoted to his Christian Faith and had a kind heart for anyone he met. He served in the Army for a brief time. Joshua had intentions to be an information specialist and recieve higher education from New Mexico State University as his great passion was for computers. He is survived by his mother Mary Ortega; father Hank and his wife Shannon; brothers Michael (Barbara) & William Lujan, Eric Ortega & sister Missy Ortega. He has many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews to mention. He is survived by his parents William Sr. and Trudy Wallace; his brother, Johnny Wallace, Charlie and Mary Hubbard; all of his friends at Quanz Advanced Auto Care and all of the many friends he had. Memorial services celebrating the life of this wonderful man whom we all loved will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Quanz Advanced Auto Care, 9111 Eagle Ranch Road NW, Albuquerque, NM 87120. Food will be served following the service. All who knew him are welcome. In lieu of flowers, Bill would have wanted you to help someone else in need.

WEST -- Julianne Wells Scurry West. Mrs. West was born in Winston-Salem, NC on April 12, 1943. She lived in Reidsville, NC and graduated from Reidsville High School in 1961. She graduated from Women's College (currently UNC-G) in Greensboro, NC. She taught school in Winston-Salem, NC and went on to graduate school obtaining her Master's Degree from the University of New Mexico. She later became a Child Therapist at the Bernalillo County Mental Health Center and worked there for many years. She had her own private practice in Child Therapy and later worked for the University of New Mexico until she retired. After retirement she continued to help people who needed her as a participant in many community organizations. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Albuquerque and the Albuquerque Animal Humane Society. Julie will be sorely missed in the Albuquerque community. Her zeal for life and all that it presented marked her as a unique individual with massive amounts of love for others and for causes that benefited humanity. She is survived by her sister, Bonnie Nelson and husband, Allen, of Reidsville, NC; her brother, Bill Scurry and wife, Judy of Winston-Salem, NC; three nieces; as well as 6 great-nieces and 7 great-nephews. She is also survived by two step-children. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Claude and Mary Scurry of Reidsville, NC; her husband, Joe West of Albuquerque, NM; two aunts and three uncles. There will be two Memorial Services: in Albuquerque, NM on April 17, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church and at a later date at Main Street United Methodist Church in Reidsville, NC. The family requests that contributions be made to either of the two churches with which the deceased was associated or the Animal Humane Society. WOODRUFF -- Mary Jane Willson Woodruff, 88, of Albuquerque, passed away at her home on Friday, April 9, 2010. She was born January 7, 1922 in Whitman County, WA. She married Jack Woodruff August 8, 1942 in Tucson, AZ. Mary Jane was the oldest of eight children born to Mary Kate and William S. Willson. She grew up on a farm in Whitman County, WA helping to care for her many siblings. She completed grade school (grades 1 through 8) early and so was able to stay home and help her mother with the house and the new baby, Lavonne, for some months. She went to High School in Steptoe while staying with relatives and going home to the farm on weekends. After graduating as Salutatorian, she attended Northwestern Business School in Spokane with her BFF Agnes Beiyer Suess. She then moved to Tucson to work and met and married her eternal companion, Jack. They shared nearly 67 years together. Mary Jane moved back to Washington after Jack was shipped over seas. She worked in Spokane and gave birth to Roger before Jack came home from the war. They had two more children in Washington, Warren and Nancy. Mary Jane followed Jack on his adventures to Utah, Oklahoma, Florida and Socorro, New Mexico, where their youngest child, Nita was born. Jack and Mary Jane moved back to Socorro in 1961 from Pompano Beach, Florida. They leased a gas station at the corner of Fisher Avenue and Park Avenue from 1961 to 1965. They purchased and ran the parts store/auto shop, Woodruff and Sons, at California and Manzanares until 1970. Mary Jane ran the parts counter and was the bookkeeper. They moved their home and business to Fairgrounds Road in 1977. Besides running the business and filling in as an extra on the wrecker, Mary Jane was busy with Pythian Sisters and community service. She ascended to the rank of Grand Chief and served several times as Secretary and Treasure in Pythian Sisters. She was a member and officer of the Socorro Garden Club and worked with Eiko Parson in The Animal Humane Society. She and Jack were volunteers in the landscaping project of Socorro Cemetery. She set a great example for her children and grandchildren of selfless service to others. Mary Jane had a hunger for knowledge and education. She inspired her grandchildren toward the same and made college funding available to them all. Mary Jane is survived by two sons, Roger and his wife Jo, Jarales, NM; Warren and his wife Rachel of Christiansted, St. Croix; daughters Nancy Burris and Nita Cooley of Albuquerque. Surviving grandchildren and great-grandchildren are: Adam Woodruff, MS, LMFT and his wife Evelyn and children Jack and Maya, Longmont, Colorado; Dr. Evelyn Blalock, PhD. and daughter Ella Grace, Columbus, Georgia; James W. Burris and Jessica Vodenichar and son, Wyatt, Kenai, Alaska; Jason Woodruff and daughter Megan, Rio Rancho, NM; Jay Burris, San Diego, CA; Scott Woodruff and Jennifer Woodruff of Albuquerque; Heather and her husband Capt. Sean Palmer and their daughters Kennedy and Brynn, Abingdon, Maryland; D. David Timberman II and his wife Amanda and their daughters Brooklynn and Adrianna, Port Charlotte, Florida; Amanda Burris, Albuquerque and Allen Cooley of Phoenix, Arizona. Also surviving are siblings Nan Harwod, Beverly Hale, Norman Willson, Lavonne Mader and Richard Willson. Preceding her in death was her beloved husband, Jack, sister, Barbara Weaver and brother Bill Willson. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 2:00 pm. It will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kachina Chapel located at 6009 Kachina NW in Taylor Ranch, Albuquerque, NM.
